Title: PEZ dispensers
Post by: dustrho on April 30, 2003, 05:12 PM
I have just received the rest of my needed Star Wars PEZ dispensers to finish my collection, but I have a question for everyone here.  Half of these are in their original baggies, and the others are loose.  I want to display them, and would probably want to just remove them from their baggies.  But, would that totally destroy the value of these?  I don't know the value of Star Wars PEZ dispensers, so if anyone could give me some insight here I'd appreciate it.  Thanks!

The Pez dispensors ain't worth squat really.  I've got a set of all 9 OT ones.  They came either carded or bagged.  There were also 3 additional ones released for AOTC (plus 2 rehashes).  Mine were all bagged, though I think they look much better on a card.  But yes Chris, taking them out of the bags will ruin what tiny bit of value they even had (which is basically what they retailed for, if that).  But since these are basically worthless, you shouldn't be picking these up if you're interested in their value really.  But rather just for the hell of it, as they're fun and unique (and occasionally useful) collectibles.

Here's an auction for the 9 OT carded ones for $10, that ended with no bids on it - if that gives you any indication of their value (or lack thereof)...
Complete set of 9 Star Wars Pez (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2170102099&category=4098)

Here's an opened set of all 9 (with a few extras) that ended for $2.24...
13 loose SW Pez (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2169613670&category=4098)

Here's a COMPLETE set of all 12 Pez dispencers (including the 3 AOTC ones) that ended for $11...
Set of 12 SW Pez (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2170516020&category=4098)

Here's a case of 24 that ended for $12.95...
24 SW Pez Case (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2170806659&category=37887)

Bagged set of all 12 for $10 ending with no bids:
Bagged set of 12 SW Pez (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2172290498&category=4098)

Best way to ever check on the value of stuff, is just to type that item into eBay's search box, have it search (which will give you active auctions), and then click "Completed Auctions" (over to the left).  That will give you a pretty accurate idea of the current market value of pretty much anything on the planet.  Here's the completed SW Pez auctions (all 396 of them)...
Completed Star Wars Pez auctions (http://search-completed.ebay.com/search/search.dll?GetResult&query=star+wars+pez&ht=1&combine=y&st=2&SortProperty=MetaEndSort)

So anyways, you can see that they ain't worth scratch - one dollar each at most.  But they're fun little collectibles to have anyways.  Open 'em up and enjoy.  Or for just $5 - $10 go get yourself a second set of all 12 and keep it sealed so you can have it both ways...   :)

I have all of the SW PEZ(no rehashes, though :P) and I don't really care about the value, whatever it may be. Like Matt said, they're unique. Also, it's the only SW collectible that I can be sure I'll have the complete collection of. ;)

I just leave them loose:

I knew they really didn't have much value, so I almost don't know why I even posted this to begin with.

As far as the list of figures that you mentioned about Matt, there were two other ones made that are extremely valuable.  There was the silver Darth Vader and the gold C-3PO that are currently valued at $115.  There were only 500 of each made, and I would love to get one of these.  I don't own these PEZ dispensers because of value purposes, but I just didn't want to open them up if they might appreciate over time.

I'm going to rip them open for display.    :)

Thanks for the tid-bit fellas.

Dang, wife was in here when I clicked on that.  She asked if there were idiots that would pay that much for a Pez dispenser.

Probably not worth trying to hide it, cuz she'd eventually find it anyway.  Where's that link to the master replica...

Now I want to get these too!!!

I don't think I can bring myself to pay $25 for a PEZ dispenser, although I'd love to have them all in the collection.  I'd never even heard about the gold and silver ones - I hope that's real gold and silver plating for $115.

My husband just rolled his eyes.

I've got all the regular PEZ in baggies and a couple on cards. I also nabbed a couple of SW PEZ displays from the Joann's Fabric store, so whenever we get the new house, hopefully that's how I'll be displaying 'em.

Hmmph. I was really hoping for a *particular character*, wink wink-nudge nudge, but oh well.

These just don't seem $25 nice, maybe $10-$15.

I have the Star Wars Pez things. I opened them up and had them on one of my shelves before I packed them away. They are neat and add some fun.

There new $25.00!!! Pez. Are they really crystal of just translucent plastic?

They're made out of translucent plastic.  If they were made out of crystal (which actually would be very cool) these would be a few hundred dollars or more (a piece).

Hey, that's where I got mine too!!  I only have about 10 but I like them, but I'm not getting the ones for $25.00.
BTW, do the "crystal" ones come with candy??

Well in the mail today I received a set of the PEZ. My dad bought them for me as a surprise. They are the same as the previos versions of the pez just in clear plastic except for C-3P0. He is all nice and shinny gold plated metalic. I sent some images in to Chris so that he may post them on the front page or something.

If he does not use them, then I will take some more images and post them for all to see.

That was so awesome of your dad to do that for you!  How did he happen to find out about them?  My dad doesn't surf the Net, but luckily he hits all the garage sales by his house.  It seems that about every weekend he has found something nice for me.  :)

So, do you think they're worth the money?

Got my PEZ today as well! And in an odd creepy coincedence, my parents bought them for me as a surprise!  :o

I think they are cool, and I dont feel right about complaining about a gift, but for $25.00 each, the packaging is kind of cheap. But, I didnt pay for them so I am quite greatful to get them! :) They are pretty neat though! Im glad to own them, and would probably buy them had my folks not bought them for me! :)

My dad gets these funky magazine at his work and saw them. So he order a set for me.

Jango Fetish asks "but whats a "collectable".
- A collectable is from what I know a table that is very saught after. It looks  like any other ordinary table but a collectable is different. It has no dings or knicks in it and is very shinny. In otherwords it is in very good condition. Some people will pay thousands of dollars for such a fine item to have in their dining room when it is made out of quality wood, not some fabricated wood material. When they acquire it they usually sit down around it and eat food.

Ok now I am being a smart @$$. :)

Title: Re: ROTS PEZ
Post by: Ben on March 23, 2005, 12:36 AM
I'm not finding a Pez thread, so I'll just pop this here.

Found several new Pez dispensers at Wal-Mart today, on an endcap near the Easter stuff. That's right, endcap. About four or fice boxes chock full of 'em.

I scored Grievous, the Death Star, R2-D2, Sidious in red robe, and a Wal-Mart exclusive (it says on the box, anyway) Emperor Palpatine in black robe. It has a glow-in-the-dark face, to boot. Predictably, the Sidious and Palpatine have the same mold.

They also had Chewie, Vader, and Yoda, but I've had those ones for years.

Merged your post into the PEZ thread here, Ben! - Matt  (which I see Brian already found...)
Title: Re: PEZ dispensers

Old thread....but after seeing the new batch yesterday, I thought I would resurrect it.  While checking out at Wal-Mart yesterday, I came across an endcap full of the ROTS PEZ dispensers.  I wanted to pick up a Chewbacca one, and did, but after seeing them all (and at 94 cents each), I also picked up Vader, C-3PO, and the "exclusive" glow in the dark Emperor ones.  I might end up going back and getting the regular Emperor and Grievous that were there as well.  Sort of an impulse buy, but I'm glad I got them, and thought they might be a fun (and affordable) area to add to the collection.  Do any of you collect the PEZ line?  How extensive is it in general?  The only one I had prior to these was a Yoda one that was thrown in an ebay auction I won awhile back.  They are nice from the price and space standpoint, and a fun item to vary the collection a bit.  Anyone else a PEZ collector?  Which ones do you have?

Edit:  Looking back in this thread, I see a nice complete list provided by Matt, so it looks like there isn't too terribly much to pick up.  I might try to eventually complete a collection, maybe after ROTS dies down a bit.

About the earlier-mentioned $25 Pez.. these are the ROTS 1-foot-tall dispensers.

Instead of them each dispensing one candy, when you tilt the head back, it
dispenses one whole 'refill pack'.  They also play music and voice...

Ive got the
12" Vader (shiny chrome finished)
12" C-3PO (shiny gold-plated look finished)
12" Yoda (transluscent green head)

and Ive heard of the 12" GenGreivous (now available on SWS.com)

Also, is the regular-sized GITD (glow in the dark) emperor really an *exclusive* ?

I havent seen it anywhere.

You know, about a week or two ago, our local Wal-Mart had a huge endcap full of ROTS pez dispensers, and the next time we were there, it was gone.  All I have seen since then are a couple C-3POs in the smaller, register display (alongside Batman, Donald Duck, and other PEZ dispensers).  I did get a chance to pick up the Glow in the Dark Emperor, and it does say "Wal-Mart Exclusive" on the packaging.  The ones I have seen (and picked up) so far are:

GITD Emperor (WM Exclusive)
Regular Emperor - missed this one, red robe
Boba Fett - reissue likely, but I've never gotten it
Death Star
C-3PO
Chewbacca - looks like a new sculpt to me
Darth Vader
General Grievous

I've heard that Yoda and R2-D2 have been out there too, but I haven't seen them.  I still need to get the R2 eventually.  They are still sitting in package in a closet right now, haven't decided how to display them.  Do any of you display your collections?  I was thinking about opening them up and putting them together that way.  Something "different" to have as part of a collection, I suppose.  I could be wrong, as I didn't look close, but I could have sworn I saw those large scale PEZ dispensers at TRU yesterday.  Maybe I'm just dreaming that up or something.

I may be wrong but I think Chewbacca is an old sculpt but with an updated (and better) paint job. I'll definately be on the lookout for the PEZ stuff, though - I think I've got every one of the SW PEZ they've put out (except the exclusive stuff).

I'm a Pez head and have all the current ROTS Pez on card (for displaying on card) and bagged so I can take them out and display them loose. I also like to get them autographed, mostly for my friend who's the bigger Pez head of the 2 of us. I got him David Prowse on Vader Pez, James Earl Jones on Vader Pez, Matt Wood an Grevious Pez, Anthony Daniels on C-3PO, Kenny Baker on R2, Jeremy Bulloch on Boba, Peter Mayhew on Chewbacca, Peter Diamond on Stormtrooper, Warrick Davis on Wicket, Temeura Morrison on Jango and Ray Park on a homemade Darth Maul.
As I stated above I customize Pez and Pez body parts. Here's some of my work

Saw something new at TRU tonight...  It costs $19.99, kind of expensive but pretty neat looking.

They've got those at WM and Target too, and interestingly enough, each store has it's own exclusive packaging (just their name on it).  Target's set is $19.99 as well, but I picked it up at WM just last night actually for only $14.44 - obviously a much better deal if you can find one there.  Most of them were all ripped to shreds though (the plastic on the front).

I was collecting the OT Pez dispensers several years ago, since someone stuck a few in my Christmas stocking at some point and I had to complete the set, of course.  Haven't seen them in years though, so I can't even tell if these are all new in this set, or mostly just rehashes...  Someone care to refresh my memory, since I have no idea where my old ones are at this point?

Fortunately, with the exception of the Grievous, this set can pretty much pass as all OT versions (even the Emperor, sort of).  So I figured I better pick one up to stay up to speed with these things.  Were there any other OT dispensers released lately that I may have missed?  I recall a big Pez push around the ROTS release, but I think those were mostly Ep. 3 ones, right?  And no, I have no interest in those gigantic two foot tall versions...

I saw the regular PEZ today at lunch at Fry's Marketplace in Arizona.  Fry's is owned by Kroger who also does business as Ralphs.

They were on sale for $1.00 each and had Grievous, Death Star, Yoda, R2 and Vader.  I picked up a Yoda and R2 for my coworkers boys.

His oldest son came into my office a while back and saw Darth Tater.  I listened to this 5-6 year old tell me all the Star Wars characters names while making  lightsaber sounds.

Every chance I get to give his dad something I do as I love when I come across a kid fascinated by Star Wars like I was.

Hmmm...  That's interesting.  Thanks for the head's up there, Matthew.  I suppose if I could find the 8 OT ones for a buck apiece at Ralphs, that'd save me another $7, since I don't really need the fancy box that they came in (or the Grievous).  I'll have to look into it...

Anyone know if any of those are rehashes from the older Pez dispensers from several years ago?  Wish I had a clue where mine actually are these days...

Target had a stocking stuffer tin with a Sith Trooper, FO Jet Trooper, TROS Helmet Kylo and a regular FO trooper when I was there the other day.
edit - here's the pack on Target.com (https://www.target.com/p/pez-star-wars-gift-tin-1-74oz/-/A-76543190).

They also had some singles - I remember seeing Sith Trooper, D-O, and a couple others maybe.
