Title: Kit Fisto's Customs (Updated 09/07/06) Roron Corobb
Post by: Kit Fisto on June 28, 2005, 10:16 AM
Ok, ok, people 've been telling me, Fox was a clone trooper in the 501th legion, and isn't this guy. But hey, as long as i don't have an other name for him, here is Fox.

Most of the work's by Glassman's hand. He sculpted and casted me the helmet and head. I put everything together on a commander body. Added some sculpted and repainted him. Here are the results:

Kit, I think it looks downright evil and very cool.  The helmet is great by Glassman, but you did a wonderful job on the painting.   Good weathering and I like the extra additions you made with the sculpy on his arms.

I have to agree with chewie on this one  Kit.  When the helmet is off, its still a spectacular figure. Great paint apps and weathering.
And the paint apps on the helmet make it sing!

Good work, I like the weathering job (and I like how you weathered the rifle as well).  They eyes on the AT-TE Tank Gunner head are really well done, they look perfect.

I too am stumped.....

I really like the Fox, you did a great job on the paintjob and Glassman's head sculpt is fantastic. Your sculpting isn't half bad either, it turned out to be a really great figure. :)

Cool, great helmet sculpt.  Is it just the angle of the pictures, or are the helmet antennae not attached in some of the pics?  I'm pretty sure it's just the angle...

What is a clone kit?  I've heard of Bantha5, does he send you a helmet and stuff?

Indeed, I used a 6 for cody, mostly because of the removable sholderpatch.

For the Neyo, I'm planning on using a nr 41, IF i can find one...

Newbie here I've been coming to JD and reading the posts and the news for about 2 months and well I had to join up today just to tell you Kit; those are pretty awesome.  How do you get in contact with Bantha to order or trade for those.  I just started customizing so until hasbo comes out with these guys will definately do.

Well, I don't want to promote other sites, but I found a topic about the kits at the rebelscum.com forums, at customizing. There you can contact him.
But I should warn you, the requests for these kits have been off the scales. So Bantha ismaking as much kits as he can but, can't keep up with the demand... You can try though.

Title: Yoda's Kybuck steed
Post by: Kit Fisto on July 29, 2005, 07:51 AM
I'll in the middle of my Holliday period, and I wanted to try something new. I got inspired by Owen's amazing work on creatures from EU series like the CW cartoons, and wanted to do these myself. But when I was exploring his site, I didn't have the curage to start working on those big ones. So I went looking for something a bit smaller.

That's how I got the idea to start building a Kybuck steed (didn't even know the creature's name untill I re-read Yoda's databank entry at SW.com)

I made pics of most of the diffirent building stages. So here we go:

1st stage: getting the stuff together. I mostly used a white (dries when exposed to air) sculpting paste (not in the pic) + some construction materials:

I started repositioning the pair of Jolly Jumper (Lucky Luke's horse) legs and building a base with sticks and balsawood. Then I started sculpting on the head (separated from the body) and the body itself. I used the back legs of the little horse as front paws. ( a lof of dremmeling had to be done)
Some ref. pics:

After the sculpting was done of moth parts, I put the head on the body and glued his sadel in place:

Then I primed him with a spray paint; grey matt

After a second layer of primer, I sanded al of the remaining rough edges of, And the real painting could begin:

The finishing touch (straps, sadelstrap and visors) i did with grey electrical tape and a blue screen from LEGO:

I also added a peg in the saddle so Yoda can ride his trusty steed. The one problem: I don't have a Cartoon yoda to repaint into the correct colors...

So I might as well post it here:
Who can help me find a loose CW cartoons Yoda? Please HELP!

Wow, somebody slap me!  This is awesome... a very unique custom that is so different that what we usually see.

This is truly great and creative.  I've thought about how cool it would be if they made this.

I doubt I'll ever attempt this project, but if I do I personally would probably try and make a non-cartoon version.  But your version is wonderful.  I love it.

Good luck getting that Yoda that you need.

 :P
Title: Re: Yoda's Kybuck steed
Post by: Gregorbian on July 29, 2005, 12:07 PM
That turned out great!  I haven't seen the animated CW figures in a long time, but if I come across a Yoda, it's yours!

There are only 2 things that I would add to this steed, in terms of painting - The reference pics show that his belly/underside is a lighter brown than the "top" of the steed, I think it would look really cool if you put on a bit of lighter brown paint on the underside.  This second point is probably not a good idea since it's the animated version, but I think it might look cool if you drybrushed the tail a bit - not too much, but maybe a few hightlights.

Anyway, those are very minor points and your steed looks great as it is.  Very ambitious and I think he turned out great!  I can't wait to see Yoda riding around on that steed.
Title: Re: Yoda's Kybuck steed
Post by: Kit Fisto on July 29, 2005, 12:59 PM
About the belly, it IS in a lighter grey. But you're right, you can't see it very well in the pics. Even the lower side of the tail has a lighter brown on it. About the weathering, I tried it, it looked "off". Didn't fit the fig.

Thanx for the comments you guys! I try my best.

Kit,

Saw this at Rebelscum as well... it's GREAT.  When I saw the first pictures I really didn't think it was going to work. It came out looking dead on though. You gotta get a picture of Yoda either riding it or standing in front of it.

Kit, I'm so sorry I forgot to post here. This is a excellent piece of work. It is always cool to see customs that are a little outside the box. I love the sculpting you've done. The pose on this guy is killer. And I thin the inclusion of a peg on the saddle is genius. The paint app is perfect, the lines are very crisp.  I also really like the little base you made for him. Little things like that can make customs look really professional and take them to the next level. I see how you tried to make the fur lighter on the belly but I think you could try to lighten it a bit, it is fairly noticible in the cartoon. Awesome work, I may have to try this someday! Good luck on finding a Yoda for him.

C'mon guys, this deserved more than 3 posts. :)

Post by: Kit Fisto on October 31, 2005, 07:05 AM
Hi,

I've been working hard on some customs lately. I've build about 5 Street Fighters and am working on verious projects as we speak. Because of these projects, an older fig got pushed aside. Today I took the time to finish it up. After I'd built the Snoova update, I wante a new Luke. And here he is:

Recipe:
Head: SAGA Luke bespin
Torso: GI Joe Sci Fi
legs, arms, skirt: ROTS clone commander
Staff: scratch built

That is excellent, KF! I always liked the old SOTE Guard, but did feel it was a little out-of-place looking with other Imperials. This change would make him fit right in!

And I dig the Sci-fi torso. It looks so close to Clone armor - I actually thought it was a Clone torso with a lot of work done. :)

Keep up the good work.

Title: My 2nd Buggs Fett
Post by: Kit Fisto on November 18, 2005, 08:05 AM
Hi,

Some of you might remember a Casting Call or custom group   project at Rebelscum.com (I think it was put up by Master Phruby) some time ago on these boards with the theme: Cross-overs.
Thanx to Glassman6 back then, who provided me a Buggs Bunny figure, I was able to enter and built my very own Buggs Fett custom. There were some Boba Fett fans out there who wanted to buy my custom, but I got to attached to it and turned them all down.
Untill a month ago. I got the opportunity to showcase some of my customs at a local Convention and a German fan offered me a lot of money for the custom. I cracked, I needed the cash for the merchandise. So I sold...
But when I can home after the Con, I was heartbroken to not be able to add the Buggs back to my collection.
A few weeks ago, I found a NEW buggs figurein an old store in Barcelona (Spain) and when I got home, started to work on a new edition emediately.

Long story short, here he is:

I updated the 2nd version quite a bit. I gave this version a cape, better backpack and more detailed paint job. If you want a reference of my original custom, here you go:

He mostly GI Joe and Jango Fett Saga parts, and a lot of milliput, paint and Chap Mei acc.

I agree with Fritz and Chewie, these is an awesome custom! I see alot of so-so Mando customs on the web, usually just being some color variation of Boba and Jango Fett -- but this is clearly a piece with to which the artist has truly applied his creative license! I love the range finder on his left side, the map tucked on his thigh, and the unique knee pads! The back holster is also genius, and the added height and bulk of his rifle gives him a very heroic, or at least warrior-like look. This really captures the Mandalorian "spirit" as it is depicted in the expanded universe.
Title: Re: Part 1: Mandalorian Sniper
Post by: Darth Delicious on April 15, 2006, 09:35 PM
Hey Kit,

I like this custom a LOT. You really went the extra mile with the paint app, and the details like weapons belts, the map, the viewfinder and the like. Joe bodies are difficult to use without being somewhat conspicuous, but you have pulled it off nicely.

The only criticism I have is the head and boots. The beanie (or bandana, as the case may be) are a little too "earth" for me, as are the laced up combat boots. But those are just matters of personal preference. I really like the overall look of this guy, and agree with Chewie...you should consider a consolidated thread.

Gday Mate

Svoova- I really like this custom the paint apps are great but what I really like about him is all the equipment you've put on him especially the skulls.

mandalorian sniper- this is a well put together figure especially using GI JOE parts I didn't think they would look this good how wrong was I. The paint apps are great well weathered and nicely detailed.

The only thing that seems a little out of place and this is only my personal opion is the rifles holster being on the back for such a long barrel it looks like it would take to long to get it out other then that I really like the overall figure.

Very nice Mandolorian sniper.  He might have one or two too many add-on accessories for my tast but he's still a great figure.  Its great seeing Glassman's helmets being put to such good use.

Great use of G.I. Joe parts Kit Fisto!  Normally I'm not a big fan of G.I. Joe hips/legs on Star Wars customs, but for some reason I don't really notice the different articulation here.  Maybe it's the great paint job/weathering.

That helmet is kickass too, it's different enough so that it obviously isn't a Fett repaint, but it still screams "Mandalorian!" to me.  Great work!

That is an excellent Mando Kit. I used to be kind of a purist in respect to parts, you know Sw with SW and joe parts with joes. BUt there is definately a lot of potential with mixing parts, and Ive started doing this myself recently. These parts fit togetther very well, in both form and function. I like the fact that the articulation is still functional. Excellent paintjob too. I cant wait to see the rest of the team.

Paint aps on this one just as exceptional as the sniper.  Keep em coming!

Fantastic, Kit. I'm loving the way the Glassman helmet is modified. Very cool breathers, but maybe they should go to a tank on the back instead of the rocket fuel tanks.

Very badass.

Hehe thanx dudes :) Yeah I know I relayed the breathing tubes to the rocket tanks but he, it looked cool at the moment so I went with it ;)

Maybe he modified the backpack into a life support kit, or maybe he just likes the smell of gasoline :p

I don't know if you noticed, but he also has a bionic hand. Lost his original in battle.

I really like the additions to the Mandolorian Sniper.  I don't care that the hoses connect to the backpack - they look cool.  The masked head is also a great touch.

Now this one is cooler than the sniper. I kinda like the glove, hes got a Hellboy thing going there. Right down to his little horns. Great job on this one. So when do we see the next one? ;)

BTW just in case you didn't get my PM your stuff will be on the way tomorrow.

Maybe he modified the backpack into a life support kit, or maybe he just likes the smell of gasoline :p ...

Or MAYBE, he was thinking about style points and rigged up a device that allows him to look like he's breathing fire!

Ok, so it's not a very "efficient" weapon. But come you know you'd do it if you could...  ;)

Oh, and these are superb, Kit. The paint and equipment design are just lightyears ahead! I see something new every time I look at the pix...

Here's my Mandalorian team commander. He's made out of some BBI head, old cool gun I found, milliput and the main body is a VOTC fett. The helmet is another Glassman6 helmet modified.

Just to bump this a bit:

I haven't been able to work on the last mandalorian these past few days. I'm doing a few commissions, working on perfecting my casting skills and builing a few LEGO clone customs for my girlfriends' little brother.

I DO have a small update on my site (my girlfriend and my site actually) She added some of her and my art and some better pics of older GI Joe, JLU and off course StarWars pics. So if you're interested, you can go and take a look here:

If they are hollow in the mold, where are you putting you sprew whole on the helmet?

Thanks!!

I made a mold with a lego head in it. So the figs head is full. The helmet is no longer remvable. I make a sprew hole on top of his helmet and sand it down after casting it.

That Boss custom is awesome, and I'm just blown away that you're actually casting custom lego helmets! The Cody is a great implementation of, what I think was, a visor from the arctic lego line. Bacara is adorable. One thing on the helmet. When you did cody, his helmet add on's look like add on's. Bacara's looks like its blended instead of added.
Carving a line so it looks like the helmets piece is layered would make the world of difference. Something to think about the next time for your otherwise great clones.

Good stuff here. Very clean feeling clones. You kind of did the dirt like hasbro does. Fox is the best of the bunch. I think you need to add a buckle to Neyo's straps. Maybe make his left sholder black or gray and add a little black to the side indentions on his face. It really adds another dimension to the helmet doing that.

Title: Re: Kit Fisto's Customs (Updated 15/06/06) new clone comissions
Post by: darth_ripley on June 15, 2006, 12:28 PM
yes, i think a buckles and a shoulder pauldron would make both Neyo's really pop. on mine, my husband made a belt buckle out of styrene, along with the shoulder straps and pauldron (i did all the weathering & painting. the helmet is a Bantha5 creation).  :P

and yes, the "weathering" (dirt whatever you wanna call it) on your clones is very Hasbro-esque. Fox is definitely the standout of the group imho.

Very nice job on these kit. I'm sure the owner/s are extremely happy with them.
Your weathering is very HAsbro-like. I like it. It make them blend in really well on the shelf.
I dont like seeing my figures next to hasbros, casue they stand out. That is why i card most of them.
They dont look right next to the toned down weathering of Hasbro.

Great work.

Post by: Kit Fisto on June 15, 2006, 01:17 PM
Thanx for the kind words. About the weathering, I know. I don't like to "over-weather" my clones. I do weather more on other characters, but clones are just to white to go and make them TOO dirty I think. So I try and copy what hasbro is doing, mostly 'cause these clones will end up in an army builders' collection. And what Glassman6 said is correct, they would stand out TOO much.

And I was, I just wasn't able to get my hands on the parts. A few weeks ago, I finnally got hold of all of them. So I started putting him together. The helmet is a modified cast. The rest of the recipe is this:

Lando General POTF head
ROTS clone commander legs, arms, kama and guns
Sci Fi GI Joe torso
custom build staff

I took me some time to finish him, 'cause a few guys from the Belgian Star Wars Fanclub (http://www.teekay-421.be) are building a storm trooper armor. And they asked me to build them proper E-11 blasters. You can see some pics on my site soon.

Anyways, enough talk, some pics:

W :o W Kit, those are awesome. How did you get the arms to fit into the Sci-Fi torso? Its a great design, Kinda makes me wish I still had a few of those lying around. Di you have much trouble keeping them together? Ive never actually tried to combine a joe torso with SW figs.

HI D_E, I was lucky with the sci fi torso. The arms of the commander fit perfectly, didn't have to alter anything. I Just screwed the 2 halves together and filled the screwhole with some milliput and sanded it down. Those arms look as if they were MADE for that torso. The leg/pelvis part wxas something else. I sanded down the torso a bit, glued it to the pelvis and smoothed it with milliput.

@ Outrider: I'm glad you like him mate. It was really easy to do, but I think it looks great. I first used a light green that didn't cover the white completely. Then I used 2 diffirent greens to add the cammo patern.

Kit

The Lando and Luke in SOTE gear are a vast improvement over Hasbro's earlier attempt.  Paint app is also top notch.

Also wanted to say I checked out your website and i was very impressed with both you and your (gf yes?)'s artistic work!  All of it was very impressive, you guys have some MAJOR talent!

I've been very busy lately (mostly building props for me and some fellow costumers from my local SW fanclub) but I finally found the time to finish another one of my custom projects. So here he is, Jedi master Roron Corobb, wat do you guys think of him?:

I really dig this figure.  Sort of a hybrid between animated and "live action" styles.  Very original, very unique, very cool looking!!

Neat eyes!

Yeah, the eyes really do it, man! Did you sculpt (part of) his trousers, by the way? I'm still in a wip-stage with my version, based on Jedistyle's version.

How is the articulation? I've had such a hard time with the neck, I just glued his head to Coleman Trebor's neck. The feet gave me just as much trouble and are also glued. Only the hands and waist can move. Still need to do a lot of painting, though.

As far as articulation goes, his head is glued on. His arms have balljoints, wrists are glued. Legs are pegs and feet are glued on as well.

I'm glad you guys like him!

Good luck with yours IncomT65
