Kubricks / Series 2
« on: June 12, 2004, 05:08 PM »
I bring good news and bad news.  This is a direct quote from a post by todoroki at kubrickworld.com.

" Hot news from PArco...starwars 3 and more!

So today I went to the medicom parco exhibition in Shibuya. It`s open for a few weeks and I`d definitely reccomend anyone in Japan to go check it out but be warned it could be heavy on the wallet.

Unfortunately all photography was banned and I didn`t want to risk getting chucked out before I could buy the limited edition bearbricks but I'm tempted to go back again next week and take a few sneaky ones.

Man, there was so much cool stuff that I can hardly remeber half of it or know where to start...Anyhow first announcement is the STARWARS SERIES 3: (I`m not that up on the starwars names so forgive my ignorance)

C3PO, (a little bit stubby)
Lando Carrussian, (nicely done with a big cloak)
Ewok (I think its wicket but i`m not sure)
Tie fighter pilot from the original star wars
Some kind of mini sandpeople thing.

They also have another starwars boxset coming out which had:
Han solo frozen inside Jabba the huts wall,
A black r2d2
the other rebel robot that navigates the x-wing.
And some weird ephemeral blue colured Obi wan.

They also had a blister carded Boba Fett from the "droids" Tv series, and the blister carded sandtrooper.

Next was another lot of Batman figures, this time based on the movie series:

Batman (again!)
Joker (Wicked)
Catwoman (with whip)
Penguin
Catwoman in office wear
These all looked really cool, the penguin is a kubrick classic in my opinion.

Other Kubricks I saw were the Nikkuman series 2, A new Nike series which looked way cool and **** man I can`t remember a whole lot else. Im definitely gonna go back and take notes! sorry guys.

The exhibition was mostly for Bearbricks and some nice ones coming out I saw were the Kill Bill 2 (kill is love logo on a white bearbrick) but the best thing of all is the set of 10 bearbrick you can buy with the admission ticket,. They cost 8000 yen but everyone is an `Artist` and these are I think the kubrick collectors item of the year. Expect them to be going for big bucks on ebay soon. There was also this 1000 % furry bearbrick with Almost famous logo which was 19000 yen, ******* massive, I don`t know how anyone could find room to display it! Okay I gotta go now coz im frantically dashing this out in an internet cafe. Hopefully someone else can write a more detailed account over the weekend but if not I`ll post some news and hopefully some photos when I get home midweek."

C3PO   ;D
No mention of Vader or Yoda.   :'(

Oh great.  I don't even have a Droids R2 yet.  I guess if I didn't collect numerous other lines of Kubrick's I could afford it.  If this one is up around the price of carded Boba then I will definitely never own one.   :'(  I hope to God that series 3 is announced.  Seems like a very big possibility.   ;D  Vader & Yoda please please please.

Well I guess I have it mixed up too.   ???  The ones I have extras of are the ones with the stand.  So I guess those are the Japanese ones and the neck strap instrument are the Hong Kong ones?  Anyway if anybody needs 3 or more of the ones with stand I would do $5.00 each plus shipping.   I would sell one for $7.00 plus shipping.  :)

I've still got plenty of Hong Kong Cantina Band Member's with standing instrument sealed in bag and complete with box.  If you need one of those Hemish I can hook you up.  Also if any other members were planning to build a full band I would sell them in multiples for a very nice price.   :)

Hey Simon, before you go and destroy the Doraemon Kubrick I would definitely buy it from you if you have no plans of keeping it.   ;)  Sorry that you didn't get a Boba.   :'(  I fear these might go for more than carded Fett Kubrick's eventually.

Cubs have been hurting lately.  Finally righted the ship yesterday.  But some players are coming back in a few weeks.  A brutal June schedule - Houston, St Louis, Anaheim, White Sox, Oakland, - just to name a few.  I am fearing this month for my beloved Cubbies.

Prior's back Friday.  Hopefully Sammy & Wood will be back soon.  Lord knows we need them badly.

Spanky is actually a pretty reputable Kubrick dealer, I haven't personally bought anything from them but I know others have (like Padawan)

Spanky rocks.  However their prices are getting a little higher, but I think the SRP price for Kubrick's has went up recently.  Sucks, but I still love them.

Speaking of Andy and high shipping charges, he charged me around $40.00 for the two T3 Kubrick sets and the Early Bird set.  Granted those weigh more than the R2 Kubrick, but still only around 2 to 2 1/2 pounds packaged.  Trust me he definitely pads his shipping costs.

I have not lost any love for this hobby. I love it, and enjoy it now more than ever. Unfortunatley between student loans, 16 weeks of 55 hour a week unpaid student teaching, and my bad spending habits I have accumulated $8000 in credit card debt. I really didn't think it was as bad as it is, but I guess I was in denial. I am not necessarily desperate to sell it, but I would like to be debt free as soon as possible. I started collecting about 16 months ago, so I had to pay ebay type prices for the older stuff. I will be honest, I am looking for as much as I can get out of everything. I am not selling any of my Kubrick collection, Hellboy collection, loose Spawn figures, or Star Wars related items. Everything else is up for grabs. I will give this until a week from Sunday before I start going to ebay. I hope someday to rebuild it without using the evil plastic cards. Everything that I have that is still in the package is some of the nicest MOMC, MIMB stuff you will find. I am very picky about that kind of thing. Thanks, and let me know if we can help each other out. Now for the list

To start it off. Prices do not include shipping. I only ship Priority with delivery confirmation. Will add insurance if requested and the additional shipping charge is paid for. I will ship outside the U.S.

JD Sports Forum! / Re: Greatest Athletes that You Saw Play
« on: May 13, 2004, 07:38 PM »
I will go with athletes that I just saw in person, as I have seen pretty much every athlete on TV from baseball, basketball, & football since I was six years old.

Baseball: Sammy Sosa & Andre Dawson
Basketball: Scottie Pippen, sadly I never got to see Jordan play as the few games I went to were during his first retirement
Football: Derrick Brooks

Just saw one of the most amazing things I have ever seen in Baseball.  Alex Cora 2B for the Dodgers evened the count at 2-2 against Matt Clement of the Cubs. He then slapped around 13 straight foul balls and then went deep for a 2 run bomb.  18 total pitches is one at-bat and he ends it with a homer.

Yeah, that was totally crazy!  It's always great to see a pitcher and hitter battle like that, especially when the hitter finally gets the pitch he's looking for and tallies a nice base knock.  But to go 18 freakin' pitches, and finish up with a dinger...  from a very light swinging second baseman no less...  That was just a thing of beauty to watch.  The crowd and Cora's teammates in the dugout were just going more and more nuts after every pitch.  Baseball needs more moments like that.  Not to mention my Dodgers went on to shutout the Cubbies 4-0.  Still rollin' along!   8)

Jorge Posada got hit by a double play relay throw in the face tonight and broke his nose.

Yeah... Uh, sorry 'bout that Matt!   ;)  Our bad.  Then we went and rubbed it in with an 11-2 shelacking of the Yanks.   8)  Now if we could just get Erstadt, Anderson, and Salmon back, this is really gonna be fun!  I may finally get that Freeway Series that I've been dreaming of since I was about 5 years old...   :)

See Clemens blow up again yesterday?  Holy God, that guy's not human!  What an incredible story he is this year.

Congrat's Matt on the Dodgers taking 2 of 3 from the Cubs.  At least Zambrano finally got something going for them today.  I just hope Kerry only misses one start and will be 100% for his next one.
