I'll disagrre about the Attacktix, my Kmart is empty (make that 2 Kmarts) and 2 Targets are wiped out sav e for one that has a good amount of starter kits.

Itill think it's going to be a sleeper line that will come back yrs. later.  Tioo many little nice things about the line

chrome base variations,
varying "rarities
playability
availability
variety
pricepoint
sculpts aren;t bad for the intentional slightly deformed look
the packaged tent sale figs.

There's a good bit to collect with this line, and the playability I think wll make the rarer ones even harder to find, I don;t know anyone who bought these that hasn;t played with them nicking them up a bit. ;^)

Other Collectibles / Re: Star Wars Transformers?
« on: July 21, 2005, 08:46 PM »
I'm not as down on this transformer idea as some of the others I'm hearing like the choppers, ugh!

I think this idea could work if done right.  and it's funny I'm saying this becasue i never liked the old real transformers.  Surer the vehicle part of the toy looked great but the robot part always sucked.

AS far as that GH dune buggy/X-wing thing, I didn;t like it either but I saw it at Wal-Mart, it's actually not all that bad.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: 500th commemorative figure... Vader?
« on: July 21, 2005, 08:41 PM »
Love this figure, kind of dissapointed in clear packaging as mine is rather hazy, not quite a full clear package.  I like the small mechanism that lifts his helmet.

My Kmart had him at the $20 mark.  A little steep, I'm hoping to find one for $15 so I can take it back.  $15 is a good/reasonable price for this fig.  $20 a little steep.

Hey Hasbro! / Yoda Vs. Clone trooper
« on: July 21, 2005, 01:23 PM »
A no-brainer here......

Yoda and clone 2 pack where Yodas green saber can be inserted into a hole in the clones chest, and you can attach yoda to the clone by him just holding on to his saber.

pack it as a 2 pack, and pose it in the card just lkike the scene where he throws his saber through the clone and retreives it.  Best scene in the movie!

I was also thinking 3 pack with Yoda standing between 2 clones loo, one with a detachable head, and the other like the one I decribed above.

(well, that and the clone jumping on the crab droid.)

Hey Hasbro! / general ideas
« on: July 21, 2005, 01:19 PM »
Been a while since I've thrown some ideas outthere:

#1 stick with movie scenes on the cards.  People in general are addicted to the movies, actual images from the movies sell product (OTC)  it's what got me hooked at age 6 seeing the actual picture from the movie on a cardack.

How about scene 2 packs, where you take a deluxe and mix with a figure?

Ex: A carded Wookie vs. a spider droid.
or a Clone trooper posed on top of a crab droid.
or a scout trooper sniper posed shotting on of those can-cells

(it would maybe be on a card the size of the Deluxe Saga Wampa with a movie scene in the background or hey....what about smaller boxed items similar to the Han/Taun-Taun, Jabba/Solo from the POTF2 days???

A repelling clone or a two pack repelling clone-I know someone is already all over this...I'm shocked it's not out already.

Sets may sell, just simple small boxed sets may work:

One could be a kashhyk playset with a wookie, a scout trooper sniper, a spider droid, and maybe some kind of small base like a sand bunker.  Doesn;t have to be priced at $30 like the Mustafar playset, but the basics are there-FIGS, with maybe a little something else thrown in.

I'm also still not going to give up on accessories.

Cost cuts?  Repacks, market a line based on the accessories, you can still use a repacked fig, but  how cool would it be to sell a wookie with a part of like a sand bunker? or a Luke Tatooine packed standing by a moisture evaporator? I REALLY liked the Saga deluxe (for example the hoth table/screen-great!)

Or a Mace and Emperor fig that both have a "glass" backdrop? (ea. fig gets a half of the glass window that was shattered)  maybe sell later an anakin that has a red carpet base that interlocks with the other 2 figs and the glasss base?  Pack the Mace in a stance like he's just ready to swing at Palypy, have Palpy packed kinda lying down, maybe even have force lightning shooting upwards.   Re-capture the scene in the bubble, AND on tha card.

sell those little guys working on utapauu, but package them with fuel lines, and a few crates, and all, would look very cool next to a starfighter.

What about an Anakin or Obi-Wan packed on top of one of those little droids they stood on above the lava?

One of the best ideas in the last 10 years was taking the deluxe wampa, and making a hoth Luke that fits with the deluxe, or the bacta tank that you could put your FX-7 with, those are where more thoughts and more items need to be made.

I don't think there was a HUGE amount of posts about an item like the deluxe wampa/Luke fitting together, but man everyone I talked to LOVED it!!!!!!!!

It's kind of the old motto where 99 of 100 things are good...you'll only hear about that one bad thing.

I think the original early bird kit was kind of sacred, it's a classic story.  I think releasing it again only cheapened the item as a whole.  Also, dist. was horrible (example, not ONE in Western PA, while they are stached to the ceiling in Eastern PA on clearance)  The price tag of offering 4 figs a year later, for a kit to send in, and so on, well I can see what they were going after trying to re-create some of that old magic and say "hey wouldn't it be fun and nostalgic if we did that all over again?" flopped, besides things have changed in 30 years, people now just say give me the D$% figures, I'm not bothering sending crap in, and cutting UPC's etc.  Especially when there are 20 other action figure lines to choose from without going through the hassle.

Big screw up.

I really hate to say it, I just have a feeling there are people at Hasbro that may just have that ego saying "I'm the Hasbro decision maker, and dammit, I know exactly what people want"  not really knowing.....what people want.

Now I know it's a job where you're never going to please all the people all the times, but man there are some no brainers that would have been cool that they have really messed up.  I was hoping for a vs/ 2 pack plain and simple just like the GI Joe vs. 2 packs.  I STILL think they can do this, but what did they do, take a good idea and add a base, and some action lever sticks poking out of the box, and ruin it.

As a carded collector the points mean nothing to me personally.

The clone question wasn't answered well.

There's a lot of complaints it seems being thrown arond on the different directions Hasbro is taking, all the new sized lines, etc.

I'm willing to give it a chance, I'd like to see what is offered, and actually see/feel the product first.  I do like the continuation of the Attacktix line, but I get the feeling they are "experimenting" and seeing what sticks.

Behind the scenes I don;t knwo what the profitability, and the numbers on each line  and all look like, but I do know you have to please the customer (not just the collector) but if the customer isn't happy, and the customer doens;t buy your product  your screwed, plain and simple.

People may rush out and buy crap on a stick, but once they find out it's crap on a stick, they won't buy it again.

Other Collectibles / Re: M & M's Collectibles
« on: July 8, 2005, 10:54 PM »
I loved these when I saw them at C3.  Had to have them,  besides, they will be a big cross-collectible with both the SW collectors and M&M collectors.

I kinda balked at the price tonight, but then sucked it up and grabbed the 4 sets that were out.  Besides I finally had my my online SW Wal-Mart gift cards with me, so I could finally use them!

Oh my god, that really is one ugly dog.  I'm laughing, but at the same time, son;t want to even look it's so ugly.  Man, it looks like something right out of a horror flick.  Seriously.  I got a chill when I looked at it.

Revenge of the Sith / shopsw sale!!!!
« on: June 29, 2005, 09:06 AM »
I recently purchased the remote 3 3/4" R2 and the Anakin .45 saber off shopsw.

Just an FYI, there's a pretty good sale going on at shopsw tright now (click on the red/white/blue  banner.  Now, the regular figs, toys and such aren't that great a deal, but if you dig around you'll see the Clone Wars season 1 and 2 posters are only $10 (half off) and the japaneese posters are on sale too.  The Vader M&M poster is only about $12, a pretty ncie deal. etc.

Just thought I'd mention, especially if you're into the posters. Might not want to miss it.

Power of the Jedi / Re: favorite POTJ figure
« on: June 29, 2005, 08:57 AM »
My favs of this line, and what really REALLY stood out to me were the secondary aliens. Take a look again, the paint jobs were just incredible.

Plo Koon was fantastic, the paint detail on his head was phenominal. Also liked Mas Ameeda, Mon Cal officer, Tessek.

When you look at thier heads, hands, etc.  they really took the time to get the paint right, very realistic look, and there are soem really nice small details on those figs.

Vintage right now is juts weird.  I watch auctions go for unbeleiveably high amounts, yet every now and then  I squeak in a rediculous steal.

Odd.
