Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Land of the Dead
« on: June 23, 2005, 12:19 PM »
There's some pics up at www.photobucket.com enter bobafett14 for the album click on land of the dead
Tarantino was there, some good shots of him, Shawn of hte Dead director, Romero, Savini, Rodrigez, etc.

Got the Land of the Dead premiere booklet signed by Romero. Woo Hoo!!!!!
Micahel Jordan was right next to me, and I fumbled the camera around and only got the back of his head as he walked around the corner in the club.

Was a great night, the movie was good, lots of unique kill scenes, have to gert creative after a hundred different zombie flicks have been made.  Dennis Hopper played a pretty good bad guy, a little static, but stil good.  Lots of Pgh. mentions.

All the ushers and ticket agents etc. were made up very well to look well, dead.  They had a hearse parked in front as the limos were pulling up, some nice touches.  It was at the Byham, shich is reight across the street from where the very first movie theater was built. (little history for you there)

Fun evening.

TV-9D9 / Re: TV series predictions (and wishes)
« on: June 20, 2005, 08:40 AM »
I was hoping for a "Rebellion" storyline persoanlly.

With this angle you could still work in every angle you had hoped for.  You could have the Rebellion building up vs. the Empire undertone. It provides a true good vs. evil backdrop.  Also you sould venture off and do side stories:

Jimmy Smits could have a leading role, heck Mr. LA Law himself would be very cool to see back on TV.  Work in Dodonna, Wedge,  Mon Mothma for a leading female role, etc.

Show the intorduction and creation of Rouge Squadron,

A few episodes or a season devoted to Luke since he's kind of the later leader/hero of the Rebellion.

I was thinking it would be neat to see bounty hunters working for both sides.  You could literally have Fett working for the Rebellion on a mission which while he's still an independant, he could be considered a "good guy".

You could show a young Han Solo working his way up the ladder in the Empire, then end that storyline with him defecting and saving Chewbacca kind of make it a season finale or something.

You could introduce a lot of side characters, like the Bothans, etc.

Vader hunting down the remaining Jedi could be a sub-plot.

By using Smits, there could still be a connection with Obi-Wan and Yoda. Wether we actually see them or not.

You could go into the underbelly and introduce thingsa like Sabacc (intor Lando) the falcon. the Kessel Run, Ord Mantell (sp?) Jabba's crime ring, etc.

Soooooo many possibilites!!!!!!!!  You could do a very good show with a high budget or low buget with tons of sub-plots, and min-stories.

I just don't like seeing it limited to a single character, and the Rebellion against the Empire  still hasn't really been touched upon at all!!!!!!!!

and the above ideas are just a small sampling of what could be done.

Jesus, I more I think about it, I think I'm going to send in a few scripts. ;^)

Republic #76 was pretty good, but it looks like the next one will be even better!

Greivous #3 is pretty decent.  Not a huge fan of that style of artwork, but Greivous is pretty cool period, so any story with him in it will suck me right in.

Just look around or call your local shops, they are usually everywhere, and in pretty good supply.

Vintage Kenner / Re: Rebel Transport
« on: June 13, 2005, 08:35 PM »
The guns/turrets are usually missing, and yeah this ones an easy victim of yellowing, vintage prices seem to be up right now as is usually the case around a movie relase year.

There's a couple boxed versions, Yellow and blue I believe.  A very simple but a great vintage piece, some of the ROTJ playsets/ships are my favs.

The vintage playsets and ships were awesome, a shame to see very few new playsets made, but it makes the vintage playsets more desireable IMO.  At least they roll some ships out here and there.

Toy Reviews / Re: New JD Review: Tion Medon

He's a good one, pretty nice sculpt and detail for an otherwise plain figure. and I too was dissapointed he didn;t get more screenplay, however, the more I think about it, anything more than his lines to Kenobi probably would have been overkill.

and yeah, a pimp cane can make all the difference ;^)  Having him open mouthed with that scowl showing off his wonderful dental work made this fig.  That was pretty sweet, nice attention to detail.  As a follow up down the road when they really get into secondary figs, I'd like to see those huge robed red guys that were walking around on Utapauu, if they keep them in scale those would be pretty sweet.

Vintage Kenner / Finally!
« on: May 25, 2005, 10:02 AM »
Well, I fianlly broke down and got a carded Yakface the other night.

Yeah, it's on a tri-logo card and I paid a few $ more than I would have really liked to, but hey after years of searching, and bidding, and being sniped at the last second...I finally just got tired and went for broke.

To win it by only 9 cents made it that much sweeter. ;^)

also got a VERY nice boxed vinatge 12" Leia, been wanting a loose one without her buns all messed up, but no luck.  Grabbed one for about $130 boxed, and I'll tell you it's in better shape than I ever would have hoped for.  Never detached from the cardboard backer, accessories still intact, the cardboard box doesn;t even have the crease it usually does from being folded back at some point along the way, a real beauty. (always love seeing the vinatge original price stickers when you get a vintage piece heh $11)

Weird that a lot of prices are through the roof right now, but managed to squeak out a few nice finds.  Very happy with Ebay  over the last few weeks.

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: EE exclusive Clone Trooper 4-packs!
« on: May 25, 2005, 09:53 AM »
I gotta say these 4 packs are fantastic, I love everything about them!

Very glad I spent the $ on these.  I also have to say all the clones out now are great:

* the Clone w/glass exclusive from Target
* The EE 4 packs
* The Target SA exclusive
* #6, #41, etc. etc. including all the normal run clones like the pilot, commander, etc.

Just gotta love Hasbro and give them props for giving us what we want!
