Title: What you talkin' 'bout Gray Davis
Post by: Scott on August 7, 2003, 02:52 PM
So, it looks like any celebrity in California is now running for Governer as the Uber-Scholar Gary Coleman  Has thrown his hat into the ring (along with Arnold and Larry Flynt)

Let's take bets on who will be next...

I'm grabbing

Gary Coleman?  If anyone is going to win that election out of the list I've seen so far,  it's going to be Arnold.  How can anyone seriously look at Gary Coleman as a Governeor?  Maybe it's just me... ;D

The governor's adopted son, perhaps.

How about:

And what's O.J. up to?

Is Paul Reubens a resident of California?

And Bert's registered in New York, so he's out:

I think you can only be a candidate if you haven't already died in a drug overdose, John.   :-*

It's been fun watching all this nonsense go down out here in Cali.  Besides Flynt, there's also a porn star on the ballot, who's really presenting some brilliant ideas on some very important issues, like:

- Getting to write off breast implants on your taxes.

- Encouraging and rewarding younger students for reading, by including nude pictures in all text books and novels.

Damn.  Several other great ones from her that I can't recall now...

Should be an entertaining run off though.  Go Ahnold!   8)

Unless people have found a way to come back from the dead that I don't know about, I don't think Dana Plato is in the running. ;)

You know, porn stars just have no creativity.  Jordan (the uber big breasted whore from England) had a similar idea when she ran for Parliment a few years ago.

I think there's like 41 people on board for the race...
It's funny... Good schtuff...

I say pick the porn the star. Imagine all the conserv's going ape over what she'd pull. Nude pics? That's nothing these days considering the fact that 12 year olds think oral sex is OK because it's not "sex"...  ::)

Still blows my mind (no pun intended)...

Of course I am kidding on the porn star...

In all seriousness I pick Dana Plato...  ;D

In all seriousness, I think, if Michael Savage runs, he will win the election. He has a firm political standpoint, and has inspired me in many ways. (One is to run as Town Supervisor after college.)

No, there's like 400 people that are running for governor--at least that's what I heard last night, anyway.

Lost in the midst of all this California drama, is the news that "talk show host" Jerry Springer has decided not to run for the Senate in Ohio.   :'(

Oh, and Dana Plato--she died in a trailer park right here in a suburb of Oklahoma City!  YEAH!  She went out almost as glamourously as Lee Greenwood and Fred "Rerun" Berry.

Phillip Drummond could not be reached for comment.

I didn't "forget" Marmaduke, the same way that I didn't forget "funnyman" Dave Coulier (Cut-it-out!).  They deserved to die like the filthy cartoon dogs they were.

Speaking from experience...please do not vote for celebrities as any elected politicians...this man was an absolute POS Governor...and I voted for him :'(

The thought of someone changing party politics, taking on R's and D's and doing what is good for the State of Minnesota had me hoodwinked...never again.  These people recite lines and can act, Ronald Reagan was an abberation not a template...Stop the Insanity

Or, elect Puck to be the next Governor of California

Vi- that's what I meant to type 400... I heard today it's like 410-ish-ish...

Hell I say Virex moves to Cali quick and runs... BUT he'd have to promise to wear the Lips costume day and night.
Vi you do it and I move right after to vote ya in my man.

No matter how much I'd like to see Dana Plato get in...
I mean you don't seriously think she's dead...

Right now there are 500 people who are trying to get on the ballot I have a feeling that most of them will drop out by saturday.  Some of these people are:
-A 18 year college student who is trying to get 10,000 sigs to forgo the 3500 fee.
-Porn Star Matt mentioned
-A Mentally disabiled person who paid the fee with her disability checks
-a billboard star (Algenen or something like that)
-A guy who thinks it would be great for his grand kids to remember him (WTF is he thinking)
And a bunch of other people who are a little out there and will propbally drop out.

I hope Arnold gives out his views before Oct 7 so that so that people will know where he stands on stuff like the Death Penalty, Taxes, School funding and other stuff.  THe one thing I like is he seems like he doesn't like special interest groups.

I think by Oct 7 we will have around 50 people on the ballot with governer "Low Beam" only be on it once where it says " Do you want to recall Governer Davis: Yes/No?" which I think most would say yes to since he is an idiot of a governer. ;D

Scott, Arnold has (from what I seen/read) business expreince and has run and operated business in the past, Planet Hollywood (yes I know its brankrupt) and other events and things.  I voted for Aronld because I didn't want another political going around and selling the state office like Davis has in his term of office.  Will I vote for Arnold in the next election probally not and I hope he doesn't run for a second term and lets someone else runs like Tom McKentock.  I'm just glad that this state may be able to turn in the right direction with the problems we have like hte fact we will run out of cash in 6 months. :o
Just my 2cents.

Well, Da' Gropinatah era officially began 4.5 hours ago here in Cali.  Here's hoping for the best!

The first couple thing's on Arny's agenda are to repeal the new car tax just implemented last month by Gray Davis, which increased the already very expensive car registration fees by 300%  :o, and to repeal Davis' law allowing illegal immigrants the right to get California Driver's Licenses  ::)...

A good start to be sure, but we'll have to see what else is in store beyond these two obvious moves.  Better not be raising my local sales tax (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?board=28;action=display;threadid=1571;start=msg17230#msg17230), which is already sky high 8.25%!   >:(

I['m glad he repealed the car tax before I had to pay mine since it would of cost me about $600 for my car.  I hope the state starts to cut the expenses that have been occuring over serveral years.  Another thing which is going to help the state's economy will be the aftermath of all of the fires we have had, construction and funtire plus other industry.  A sad note for those who had lost loved ones and homes in the fire but something that will eventually may help the state.

The so-called tripling was merely bringing the fee back to the original pre-'98(?) level of 2%. In fact, registration notices since then stated the amount due took into account a 67% discount. (I read Arizona is 4%. Any Arizonian know anything about this?) I'm not surprised it was an issue. But we all paid 2% of a car's depreciated value before '98, it wouldn't have killed us to do so again.

To cover the fiscal gap, Schwarzenegger might issue extra billions in bonds. Either way, someone is going to pay. If not us now to the state in the form of direct taxes, then future generations to financial institutions (via the state) to cover the bonds and the interest on those bonds.

Interesting tidbit I heard today about licenses going to undocumented immigrants: this had been commonplace up until 10 years ago.

Also, Schwarzenegger might go along with the driver's license if the person is willing to get a background check and has proof of auto insurance.

added: Darth Kenobi, construction in California has remained vigorous during these past few years. Your sentiments are in the right place; however, rebuilding those destoyed homes won't add significantly to the economy now. Because of the building crunch, some estimate that many families won't even see their houses rebuilt for another 2 years.
