There's also this petition: http://www.petitiononline.com/angels6 created by the folks at buffy.nu

Sad to see the best show of its ilk on TV ending in the prime of its life. Hopefully another network will save the show.

I'd like to see UPN save it, but the UPN here plays religious garbage 24/7. Doubt that'll happen anyway.

Maybe this will make way for either a Spike spinoff or a bigass movie. Yeah. A two-hour movie with SMG back, all the Scoobies, Angel and his crew. Two hours of witty banter and demon slaying. There's too much mythology to abandon it now.

Damn, my mind is so much more fun than reality.

Joss Whedon hisself posted this at http://www.bronzebeta.com (http://www.bronzebeta.com) :

'Some of you may have heard the hilarious news. I thought this would be a good time to weigh in. to answer some obvious questions: No, we had no idea this was coming. Yes, we will finish out the season. No, I don't think the WB is doing the right thing. Yes, I'm grateful they did it early enough for my people to find other jobs.

Yes, my heart is breaking.

When Buffy ended, I was tapped out and ready to send it off. When Firefly got the axe, I went into a state of denial so huge it may very well cause a movie. But Angel... we really were starting to feel like we were on top, hitting our stride -- and then we strode right into the Pit of Snakes 'n' Lava. I'm so into these characters, these actors, the situations we're building... you wanna know how I feel? Watch the first act of "The Body."

As far as TV movies or whatever, I'm not thinking that far ahead. I actually hope my actors and writers are all too busy. We always planned this season finale to be a great capper to the season and the show in general. (And a great platform for a new season, of course.) We'll proceed ahead as planned.

I've never made mainstream TV very well. I like surprises, and TV isn't about surprises, unless the surprise is who gets voted off of something. I've been lucky to sneak this strange, strange show over the airwaves for as long as I have. I don't FEEL lucky, but I understand that I am.

Thanks all for your support, your community, and your perfectly sane devotion. It's meant a lot. I regret nothing (except the string of grisley murders in the 80's -- what was THAT all about?) Remember the words of the poet:

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the road less traveled by and they CANCELLED MY FRIKKIN' SHOW. I totally shoulda took the road that had all those people on it. Damn."

See you soon. '

Still, Death to the Frog.

Might I just say, a big FU! to the WB. They're so in love with making those damn teeny bopper and urban crap shows that get them no attention whatsoever, but damn if a show that is critically acclaimed nationwide sparks a bit of attention, cancel the freakin thing so as to stop the steamroller. Screw the WB, Angel was the only thing that got me to watch that POS network, now approximately 3.5 million people each week will stop watching them and hopefully it will help mean an end to the WB.

Yep. WB tried dicking around Buffy after its fifth season too, only they didn't go as far to actually cancel it. I'm kind of hoping UPN steps up again, but who knows? **** 'em.

This season was really kicking ass too. :(

I imagine UPN would be interested in Angel.  They lost money on Buffy for two years straight to raise the profile of the network, and I'd say it needs some raising again.

No UPN. No no NO!

My friend suggested TNT picking it up.

I'd personally hate to see it go to UPN, as I won't be able to see new eps until about Sunday night here.

TNT would be a pretty good choice, plus they have the reruns.

Ah, but the difference here is the creator wants the same thing we do. ;)

That's true.

Maybe we should send letters and postcards to the WB or something, pleading with them to reinstate Angel.

It looks like Joss is resigned to Angel's fate....

http://www.moviepoopshoot.com/news/feb04/71.html

From the way it sounds, they won't be looking for the option of another network  :(  :'(  :'( :(

Can I just say one more time... FU WB!!!  >:(

Naturally the network cancels the show and then airs what I believe is it's best episode ever.  Sigh.  I loved the show tonight, I don't know if it's puppets or what, but it had me laughing myself senseless.

If the show has to end, it has to end, let's go out on a high note.  Perhaps down the road we can have movies and such.  Sigh.

This week's episode was great. It was good to see Wes and Fred finally get together, of course that only means one thing: Fred will die.

And, on that note, I found this:

Great comic!

This week's Angel had me "tearing stitches" with laughter, my fave part though had to be when Puppet Angel jumped at Spike and bit him, then they fight into the elevator and you hear something rare, the Irish coming out of Angel... "You damn limey bastard!!"

Great prat falls and bumps by James Marsters in that scene, classic stuff.

I did not forsee the evil puppet calling anyone a dickwad.

Thats comedy!

Whedon / X-Men: Cool.

Whedon / Angel: Even better.

This week's episode shows arguably the best show on TV getting better and better even after it's cancelled.  No spoilers, but  :o

It does seem a little 'Didn't we do this last year?' but much, much more effective.  Can't wait to see how this plays out.

I'm anxious to see Gunn and Wes duke it out now.

And I always figured that Knox was a no-good sonuvabitch.

That Knox was always a slimey bastard.  >:(

What a great episode!  Spike had some interesting lines, and sounded quite reflective.

I can't give up hope yet; I'm still sending postcards to lots of the addresses recommended. Even if they aren't actually read, its still fun, and may make a good pile of cards their assistants have to go through.

I had about 31 messages in my inbox from the Save Angel campaign. Apparently, someone goofed, but the messages are all pretty much useless. So, clean out your inboxes if you gave the campaign your e-mail addy.

Watched my first episode of Angel in a long time, only four fresh episodes to go. WTF is up with the WB calling new episodes "fresh"?? That alone makes me never want to turn it on again.

I've missed the last two episodes, because I'm used to the WB running 'Smallville' in its place. :P

What happened? :)
Title: Re: WB Cancels 'Angel'; Save the show!
Post by: Xander on April 22, 2004, 09:03 AM
You missed two episodes?  Ok basically,

1 Ep:

- Gunn, Spike, and Angel find Lindsey held captive in a Powers That Be suburb dimension, tortured once a day in the cellar, living the same day every day.  Gunn volunteers to take his place as redemption for what he did to Fred.  Adam Baldwin shows up to take the place of Eve as a Powers That Be go-between.

Meanwhile, Wes and Illyria have comical conversations about other dimensions vs. this world, while you can tell Wes is sinking into depression.
He dreams thematic dreams about Fred.

2 Ep:

- Connor and parents show up ("Hey, Dad"), and we find out the high powered Warlock who reprogrammed all of their memories needs Connor to fulfill the prophecy of killing Sahjhan (who is held in the urn). He blackmails Angel into bringing Connor to him, threatening to return his memory.  Meanwhile Wes, with more funny/touching scenes with Illyria,  catches on that some kind of reality shift occurred when they joined W&H, so he suspects Angel of betrayal.  Wes shows up at the fight and gets the magic box that will return all the memories.  He smashes it, so he remember what actually happened - all the bad stuff between him and Angel - while Connor gets the memories back too. Connor gets viscious and kills Sahjhan.  Connor leaves, without actually saying he remembers, but he hints he does, and decides he must go back to his adopted parents.

What worries me, and maybe I missed it...wasn't the cat in the White Room Gunn? And the Cat Gunn slugged him, knocked him out, and came out as Gunn? So what happened to our man Gunn?!
