Episode 1 / Re: Hardest Episode 1 figure to find?
« on: August 5, 2005, 11:24 PM »
The Fambaa is giving me a hard time to locate at a "reasonable" price. And when I say reasonable, I don't mean $120 plus shipping on Ebay. I hope to get mine for around $90.

Episode 1 / Re: R2-B1 & TC-14
« on: August 5, 2005, 11:22 PM »
I managed to score TC-14 at a great price on Ebay, which was $12 shipped!

R2-B1 was a little pricer for me, but welcomed none the less.

The only pieces that are missing from my Episode 1 collection right now are Holo Sidious, Swimming Jar Jar, Eopie with Qui-Gon, and the Fambaa.

Then perhaps Hasbro can make a deluxe figure with Luke Skywalker and a Womp Rat.

Actually, the Falumpasets showed up in mass at the KB stores in my area for $7.99 each.  I only got two at the time; I should have gotten more.  I'm such an idiot.

A Scurrier would be cool pack in with a Tusken or Sandtrooper!

Oh, my bad.... :-[

My POTF2 one is still in one piece, so I'll be passing on this.

The Falumpaset was released in the Episode I line. Although, it was only available in the UK. But you can get one rather cheap on Ebay if you really want it. I got mine through Ebay for $20, and it was money well spent.

As for a Womp Rat, if they re-release a Tatooine Luke w/ floppy hat and rifle, I can't imagine why Hasbro wouldn't make a Womp Rat an pack in. Or a Scurrier for that matter.

Here is what I would like to see:

Eopie with Obi-Wan Kenobi
Young Beru and Owen Lars with Moisture Vaporator
Jabba's Denizen's II: Attark, Worrt, Bane Malar (or some character not yet done from Jabba's Palace)
Warok and Lumat with Ewok Catapult
Death Star Gunner with Turret

Damn, that Bantha looks awesome. Anyone remember the prices of the larger beasts like that? I remember seeing a bunch of the Banthas and Rancors once, but passed due to either price or size.

It was upwards of $30 to $40.

The Rancor is my all time favorite.

Before I start, I just want to say up front that this is all just my opinion and anyone should feel free to agree or disagree with me.

The problem in rereleasing old beasts actually goes a little further than Jeff's sentiments (which I actually agree with, but for an entirely different reason than the one he gives).  The majority of the beast assortment from the POTF2 days, Tauntauns and Wampa excepted, were pretty big shelfwarmers.  Even the Dewback, which I still think is one of the best beasts they've done in the modern era, started to sit after a while.  The Ronto was boring (and as an SE addition didn't have much appeal), the Jabba pretty much sucked (like the SE CG version), and the Wampa has since been surpassed by the 2004 Ultra Wampa.  The Rancor and the Bantha were both great, IMO, but they were shelfwarmers of the ultimate degree (the Rancor more than the Bantha) and I would assume that the Bantha cost Hasbro a hell of a lot to sculpt, what with all the hair.

The Episode I beasts were on a continuum of "good but everywhere," "crappy but hard to locate," and "good but nonexistent."  The Kaadu holds up well, sculpt-wise, even if it can't stand up, and the Opee Sea Killer, while severely underscaled, is very nicely sculpted and the action feature isn't bad at all.  Jabba was pure garbage if you could find him, and the Eopie was something 99% of the US collectors never saw or obtained.  The Faamba was heavily overpriced (Go Go FAO Chapter 11!) and even at the half price I paid for it (35 bucks), it still wasn't worth it.

The Reek was a shelfwarmer on the scale of the Ronto and POTF2 Jabba, and the Acklay was nice (it could have been better) but a lot of people never even saw it because of the Reek.

Anyway, my point is that with the vast majority of the ones I mentioned above, they just have not sold well enough in their initial releases to make me think that the market would go nuts over a straight reissue now.  I think that the Eopie should be released in some way again, and the Acklay wouldn't be such a bad choice either.  Everything else though would be retail suicide.  Again, all just my opinion.

Personally, I'd rather see the Felucia worm thing with a Clone Rider, an Orray with Geonosian, and a Mustafar Flea with Rider right now more than I would care to see a redone Dewback.  I'm definitely in the minority who would rather have more prequel figures than OT figures at this point, but all the OT beasts have been done fairly well at this point, and I'm all about new stuff as opposed to old stuff.  Your mileage may vary.   :-\

I agree with that 100%!

Hasbro really screwed these sets up.  ::)

They can't even match the right figures with the right names. That's not Agen Kolar in set 3, thats Eeth Koth. Agen Kolar was in either set 1 or 2, I can't remember which. And what the hell is the difference between Stass Allie and Adi Gallia?

If you mean crashing, it was Mawhonic.

If you mean by getting killed, it was Ratts Tyerell.

Power of the Force 2 / Re: The Beginning of POTF2
« on: November 5, 2004, 03:08 PM »
I didn't find out about POTF2 like you guys did. My story is a little bit different:

It was Christmas of '96. I was in the mall looking for a christmas present for one of my friends. He had told me he wanted a Star Wars toy. I went into Kay-Bee toys and went to the action figure aisle. I was 11 or 12 at the time, and really had no collecting interests at the time. Looking through all the Star Wars figures, I picked up a Han Solo in Carbonite for him. While paying for the toy, I thought to myself "These things are stupid". Isn't it interesting how one can change his or her mind quickly?

Than night, I brought the figure up to my room and put it on my dresser. I was playing a video game, but the whole time, I just kept staring at the action figure. I paused the game, picked up the action figure, and just looked at it. I read the bio on the back, and looked at the other figures that were listed on the back too. The next day I brought the figure over to my friend's house. When I dropped it off, I asked if I could borrow the Trilogy. He lent it to me, and as soon as I got home, I started watching it (I had NEVER seen Star Wars). I immediately fell in love with it. The vast amounts of unique aliens, the technology, the fights, everything appealed to me.

That Easter, my mother brought me to Kay-Bee toys and told me to pick out two things I wanted. I went right to the Star Wars toys and picked out my very first Star Wars figures: Bossk and the Jawa 2 Pack. Ever since then, I've been buying all the Star Wars figures I can.

Power of the Force 2 / Re: Opinions on Rebo Band and Rancor
« on: November 5, 2004, 02:52 PM »
The Rancor, the Rebo Band, and Bantha were all awesome. I am really happy they finally made Rappurtine. I wish they would make Ak-Rev and of course Yarna Da'l Gargan.

Ditto!
