The 2018 Halloween Disney Droid Factory carded droid has started hitting ebay:
R4-BOO18, the candy-corn colored astromech (https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/eQEAAOSwHp5babGI/s-l1600.jpg) (with mini candy-corn accessory).
Despite the odd deco, I'll probably still track one down at some point if I can find one for less than $20.

Same, I was dumb and waited for the 2017 figure to show up on the Disney Parks App but they've been keeping lots of stuff off of the app lately. If I have to resort to one of those $30 shipped eBay purchases this year, so be it.

Kind of an interesting design. I like that they're working their way through the R-series with each year's exclusives. I'm guessing that the X-mas droid this year will be an R4 as well. I can't wait to see how they give holiday colors to the R6 through R9 droids.

Jim Hill's recent podcast talked about how Disney doesn't have the proper infrastructure to sell park merch over the app. He says it gets completely overwhelmed and needs a lot of back office changes. He says the state of in park merchandise (at least in Florida) is behind the times. They are having a tough time figuring out how many they can sell on line and still have enough for the parks. The parks are suppose to take top priority because they don't want to tell a guest an item is sold out because everyone on the internet bought their supply. Disney hasn't completely rolled out credit card chip readers to the parks yet. You think this would be the Mouse's top priority.

This makes me laugh.
They've got RFID bracelets that they make you wear and track you every bowel movement in the park, yet they can't figure out how to stock and sell toys both in the park and online?

I went ahead and bought one for $24 shipped... it's $6 or so more than the app would be, but it seemed worth $6 to just be done thinking about it.

I bought one too for $23.99 (free ship). The price at the park is $19.99 so I'm coming out a little ahead.

Props to Jayson for the heads up (https://twitter.com/yak_face/status/1028998190849290245) - this little guy is on the ShopDisney app now. Search 'halloween droid' and he pops up. Ordered mine for just under $18 shipped to my door. :)

Just received mine R4-Boo18. I think he could use a little weathering. The white top makes him look a little unfinished. He includes a removable candy corn just like the mistletoe from last year.

I normally like just about ANY astromech droid. But this paint scheme was just too much for me.

Which kind of adds to the candy corn authenticity if you think about it.

Disagree totally. The fact it’s a Bespin droid and it has these goofy yellow orange white colors and simplicity makes it so awesomely Bespin to me! It’s clean, it’s retro colors... I love it!

The only way that I could find a way to put this R4 unit into a Bespin diorama? If the Cloud Car had a droid socket.

Disney gives all these droids a back-story. Last year's Halloween droid worked for Darth Maul on Dathomir. This year's Halloween droid works for the residents of Cloud City -

Mine was just delivered in the last 30 min. Still hasn't grown on me.
When the images first hit the 'net, something looked off. Sure enough, a quick google turned up pics showing the orange and yellow are reversed in the candy.
I can't imagine this being an issue with intellectual property. Did someone go with their recollection and not do their homework? There are images of Alton Brown's homemade candy corn, which have the same color sequence as the droid. So maybe the nod the chef? Or just creative license?
And in the vastness of Google i came across... Christmas candy corn?! Yup. White, green, red. Who would've thunk?

It'll go in to the corner of my figure display that contains the handful of "what the hell was Hasbro/Disney thinking" figures that just don't fit with everything else.
