Let's say that somewhere down the road, Hasbro ends up making some shocking wonderful announcements...

...SAIL BARGE COMING SOON!

...CLOUD CITY PLAYSET COMING SOON!

...DEATH STAR PLAYSET COMING SOON!

If it were to happen, and these were the mother of all vehicles/playsets, how much would you be willing to pay for these?  Say, one comes out in 2005, one in 2006 and one is 2007.

I would be more than happy to shell out hundreds of dollars for each of these if they were done correctly.  Look at how great the USS FLAGG GI JOE playset was, how huge the giant shuttle was they made, etc.  If Hasbro did things right, they really could profit from this, as well as make some fans very, very happy (they could even include 2 ultimate figures with each one to make them even more desirable).

Thoughts?

What would they be?  Let's say you could have 4 figures in each wave, and these would be all new sculpts of all new and perhaps some resculpted figures.

This crazy Wookie would probably go with:

ANH - Wave 1

- Owen Lars (resculpt)
- CZ3 Droid (all new)
- Stormtrooper Luke (new sculpt close to CT version)
- Stormtrooper Han (new sculpt close to CT version)

ESB - Wave 2

- General Veers (removable armor/helmet)
- Admiral Piett (new sculpt)
- Bespin Guard (black POTJ version)
- Snowspeeder Luke (resculpt)

ROTJ - Wave 3

- Princess Leia (Bousch disquise new sculpt)
- Han Solo (post-carbonite new sculpt)
- Bib Fortuna (resculpt)
- Royal Guard (resculpt - silk robes)

Thoughts on this you crazy collectors?

Original Trilogy Collection / Most Overdue
« on: May 27, 2004, 02:28 PM »
I don't know if this belongs here, because of the PT figures (even though we could see the EP3 preview figures on OTC cards), and I don't think it belongs in SAGA because it's coming to an end.  Anyways, what are the most overdue Star Wars items in your opinions, and why?

How about one vehicle/playset per movie, and one figure/screen scene per movie.  Here's my thoughts, I hope to see your opinions as well.

TPM

Figure - a freaking handmaiden in the orange outfit; Padme wears this outfit a lot

Playset - an ultimate Theed Palace, with two sides; the outside of the palace entrance, and the interior would have the Queen's chamber room along with a Jedi duel area and a hangar for a ship - this is the central location in TPM, why not a playset finally

AOTC

Figure - a Lars family Screen Scene with Owen, Beru and Cliegg; these are very important characters that are being neglected

Vehicle - AT-TE, what a great toy this would make; and the Homing Spider Droid would be pretty nice too

ANH

Figure - A cinema scene with Stormtrooper Luke, Stormtrooper Han, and a circular Death Star control console with an all new Death Star Trooper, these consoles are an icon of the Empire

Playset - Modular Death Star playset for obvious reasons

ESB

Figure - Ultra/Deluxe Hoth Rebel Trooper (final sculpt w/ ultimate articulation and sculpt -no beard or stupid facial expression and not shorter than Leia) and anti-vehicle cannon

Playset - Modular Cloud City playset like the Death Star idea

ROTJ

Figure - Royal Guard, a final kickbutt version with silk robe and ultimate articulation

Vehicle - the mother of all vehicles would double as a hell of a playset; Jabba's Sail Barge

Original Trilogy Collection / You've got to be kidding me...
« on: May 14, 2004, 04:25 PM »
That new poster of the OTC figures had better not be the real thing ...why in the world would they actually re-release some of these figures?  Do they want the worst peg-warming problem of all time???

Seriously!  Why in the world are they repacking that terrible Bib Fortuna?  Or the Jawa 2-pk?  And Wicket? The already overproduced Cantina Han and All New Likeness Leia?  Oh my God...

By my count there are only -7-SEVEN-7- all new figures in this entire bunch.  I don't mind seeing a few rehashes like the harder to find SAGA figures and a few POTJ figures here and there, but this is ridiculous.

Dear God, please knock some sense into someone at Hasbro.

Saga '02-'04 / Sad to see SAGA end?
« on: April 13, 2004, 10:26 AM »
Well it looks as though the SAGA line is about to wrap things up as we are about to start the Original Trilogy Collection very soon.  Looks like all we have left is the Endor Lando wave...

Overall, I have been happy with the SAGA collection.  It has been nice to see a nice mix of prequel/classic figures, but I do think that the TPM figures have been somewhat neglected.  I consider the AOTC/SAGA line as one though because of the smooth transition Hasbro used in introducing characters from other films into it.

Will Hasbro do something similar to this once the initial EPIII figure rush dies down?  I hope so, it would be nice to see this tradition continue.  Will a later integrated line still be called SAGA?  Or will it be SAGA2?  Or POTJ2?  Or even POTF3?

Thoughts?

Original Trilogy Collection / Modern Vintage - Waves 4,5,6?
« on: April 2, 2004, 03:00 PM »
What would everyone's opinions be if Hasbro decided to go nuts and product three more waves of Modern Vintage figures?  I might have mixed feelings about it, but here's some figures I would like to see them make for this if it came true:

WAVE 4 (ANH)

- Grand Moff Tarkin
- Tusken Raider
- Owen Lars
- ???

WAVE 5 (ESB)

- Luke Skywalker (Bespin duel)
- Admiral Piett
- Han Solo (precarbon)
- ???

WAVE 6 (ROTJ)

- Emperor Palpatine (silk robe)
- Royal Guard (silk robe)
- Bib Fortuna
- Scout Trooper

Thoughts or ideas?

I sure as heck do.  Isn't this a totally neglected figure by Hasbro?  The buff POTF2 version is a piece of junk, and when the reissued it with the POTJ Snowspeeder they weren't doing anyone any favors.

I think it's time for a super articulated, well sculpted version of a Snowspeeder Luke.  And a Wedge/Dak should be made as well.

Thoughts?

I got to thinking today and I am a little surprised that Hasbro doesn't take a little more advantage of this Classic Trilogy revival with some all new items.  The inclusion of old sculpts of the X-Wing and TIE Fighter is a huge letdown for me, but even more of a letdown is the lack of all-around creativity.

I love the idea of the modern-vintage figures (especially the looks of Han and Leia), but I think they could have done more in the way of variety.  Who knows, there could be a lot more in store for us than what we have seen so far.  But here are some ideas, feel free to comment and add your own ideas too!

DELUXE/ULTRA ASSORTMENT

- new Owen Lars w/ moisture vaporator

- new Death Star Trooper w/ circular Death Star console

- Rebel Technician w/ Yavin circular Death Star attack display

- Rebel Honor Guard w/ extendable watch tower

- new Bespin Han (no jacket) w/ torture device

- new Vader w/ mediation chamber

- new C3PO w/ throne and generic Ewok

- new Palpatine w/ throne and giant Death Star window

- Stormtrooper 3-pk (similar to Clonetrooper 3-pk but none lying down)

- Rebel pilot 3-pk (X-Wing, Snowspeeder, A-Wing)

- Imperial Forces 3-pk (Death Star Gunner, Imperial Technician,  grey tunic Imperial Officer)

- Jawa Droids 3-pk (Sandcrawler Droid, LIN Mining Droid, 8-armed Spider Droid)

- Cantina Patrons (Kitik Keedkak, Gotal, Elis Herot)

OK, that's probably too many Deluxes for such a short period of time, but I think most of them would sell well.  Other ideas guys?

Original Trilogy Collection / VOTC Stormtrooper
« on: February 18, 2004, 05:01 PM »
I was thinking that maybe in the 12 modern vintage figures we might see a Stormtrooper in the mix, but apparently that is not the case.

THANK GOD.

The reason I am so happy about this is because if it was better than the CT version, all hell would break loose in my marriage.  It would cost me too much money to build a whole new Imperial army since these modern vintage figures are slated to cost around $10 a pop.  And I'm still happy with the CT version and the fact that they are recarding it shows me that this is the definitive sculpt they are going to stick with, but they might tweak with the articulation in the future.

Does everyone share the same sentiments as the Wookie?

Saga '02-'04 / Any Star Wars Surprises Under the Christmas Tree?
« on: December 25, 2003, 01:28 PM »
I had a couple of nice Star Wars related surprises from my wife this Christmas:

- 2 SA Clonetroopers

- Unleashed Boba Fett

- Imperial Shuttle

Yep, it was pretty nice; especially the Shuttle.  I already have a vintage version in great condition, but the paint scheme on this one is so much better.  It was definitely my favorite of the gifts.

Anyone else get any Star Wars stuff?  What was your favorite gift?

Saga '02-'04 / TIME FOR A CLEARANCE
« on: December 4, 2003, 12:09 AM »
Which items in your areas REALLY need to be clearanced?  Got some realistic pricepoints that people would actually PAY for the dust ridden Star Wars items at certain retail establishments?  And pricepoints that the retailers would actually CONSIDER reducing the stuff to?

Here's a few retailers; with a list of the "junk" they have sitting around, and what they need to reduce the prices to:

WALMART

Cantina Sets - reduce them to $3 or less; get rid of them!

KMART

Saga 2002 Figures - reduce them all by 50%

KAY-BEE

Saga 4-pks - reduce to $4.99 they WILL sell at that price

Lightsaber Bundle pks - reduce to $9.99 like TRU did

TRU

Saga Gunship - reduce to $29.99 like the CW version (or less)

Screen Scenes - reduce to $12.99 to get them moving faster

Saga 2002 Deluxes - reduce to $2 each get rid of them!

12" Figures - reduce down to $4.97 (won't even sell at $9.97)

AOTC POTJ Preview Figures - reduce to $1.97

TARGET

Ta-Da!  They don't need to reduce ANYTHING in my area; just maybe have a 50% off sale one week on their Clone Wars figures to make room for newer stuff more often.

Thoughts?  Ideas?

Saga '02-'04 / Worst Pegwarmers in your area
« on: November 30, 2003, 04:56 PM »
In the St. Louis area, I would have to say that the top 5 pegwarmers are:

- CW Anakin
- CW Yoda
- SAGA Watto
- SAGA Lott Dodd
- SAGA Pilot Jango Fett

Are areas around the country similar to this?  Or are different figures creating problems?

Has anyone else ordered from them yet?  What a fantastic deal!  I should be getting the Bail Organa wave today for just $6 per figure, and shipping is a flat $5.95 rate no matter how much you order.

Can't wait to see even newer stuff there.  Check it out!  These guys have done the Star Wars community a HUGE favor!

Kinda morbid, but would you all like to see another Anakin come out that is carrying his dead mother?
