Sideshow Collectibles 12-inch Anakin Skywalker (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=120905anakin) :o :o
Way too cool! 8)

-
Very cool. Alot better than Hasbros version. Too bad I won't be able to preorder it since it'll sell out in minutes.
-
Yep I know what you mean. Oh well I can't get it for other financial reasons right now but maybe someday.
-
Anyone else curious about how snowbunny Padme's gonna look now? Wonder if she's gonna be next of if they'll do another jedi. I hope they do a Charred head variant for an exclusive...tho with that ROTS sculpt medicom Vader, that'd be a little redundant. <sighs> I can dream tho :D
-
Very cool looking. I hope I can get one.
-
Very cool, I got in on the special Luke, I hope i get in on this one.
-
How much is this going to be?
-
Y'know, I'm already sick of "special" orders and all that crap. Just make the stuff available, and you'll have my money. Make it too hard for me to get what I want, and I'll spend elsewhere.
-
How much is this going to be?
50-60 dollars
-
It looks great. I don't have any items in this line but was really tempted to get Princess Leia. I'm curious to see what the full view will be. Good Luck to those that want this on Friday!!
-
I think I'm gonna grab this one. If I can't land an exclusive version, I'm cool with the regular one. What's the difference anyway?
-
We'll find out tomorrow… but if it's anything like the Exl. Luke, it will have a couple additional accessories. (i.e. Aqua-Breather or Jedi Comlink)
-
As Jesse mentioned on the front page, you can check out some work-in-progress shots on Sideshow's Production Log (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/behindtheshow/?cat=26).

The Bonus accessory for the 12" Anakin is a MINI Holo Darth Sidious (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/behindtheshow/?p=580)
2006 "Year of the Pack in Mini Holographic Figures"
Now available! Good luck gettting through though… server problems :(
-
This is exactly the kind of experience that kills my interest in collectible lines.
-
Sideshow is back up (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?item=21191&source=300ad)
Prize accquired.
-
Man, after an hour of near stressing out, was finally able to get the Exclusive Anakin. I'm so glad I was able to snag both father and son exclusives. :) Getting these "Collectibles" shouldn't be this hard or stressful. ::)
I'm going to dread when Jango/Boba/Clone Troopers go on sale. :-\
-
****. Forgot all about it.
Anyone know any sites that still have good deals on Luke? One place had it for $42 but it's gone....
-
(http://www.sideshowtoy.com/mas_assets/4.gif)
If these items are going to sell out in less than two hours each time a new figure hits it's going to scare me away right fast.
Though I suppose a holographic mini figure isn't a big difference. Still, I think it's a reasonable expectation to be able to buy a product you want without having to make plans to be online for a two hour window in the middle of the day.
I'm right with you Ricardo on the Clones/Fetts/Stormtroopers. It will be a bloodbath if they keep to their current production numbers.
-
I wanted the exclusive versions of both Anakin and Luke and failed to get either one. Not that's it's the end of the world (a blaster and holograph), but obviously it's nicer to have the extra accessories.
Sideshow needs to rethink the way they do business and focus more on letting retailers sell their product.
It's very difficult to obtain Sideshow product via other means outside of their website...obviously there is a demand for well done 12" SW figures, why not bump up the production run a little?
-
Well if they keep making us order on a Friday I will never get the exclusive version since I (gasp) go to work and the company frowns upon such activities of ordering on the net. Oh well.

Tell me about it. They should put them up on Saturdays when everyone has a shot.
-
I am so annoyed i never got an e-mail so i had no idea they went on sale. By the time i did the exclusive was sold out. So annoyed :-[
-
I really don't see the point of the limited exclusive version - it adds very little collectibility yet it frustrates the hell out of collectors.
The price is fine as are the accessories and sculpt, just build a ****load of the figures and be on your way.
:P
-
This one should see a remarkable following in the secondary market.

I don't get it either really. Granted it's just one accessory but it kind of nags on you not to have it in a way.

I don't knwo what it is either. Just knowing that little holographic emperor is out there really bothers me. I really want one.
-
Okay, I don't really know how SS wait list actually works. Does any really have a chance in hell at getting this figure if you put your name on the wait list? Or is it something like you have to hope 5000 people in front of me decide to cancel their orders?
-
I posted this in the Obi-Wan thread, i was on the Anakin waitlist and they just confirmed that my waitlist request was just changed to an order, so i will be gettingt he exclusive version ;D Very awesome, now its time to try and get the Kit exclusive.
-
I received my e-mail today from SS that Anakin will arrive at their warehouse in the next 15-20 days for processing. Can't wait! ;D

Me too ;D Very excited!
-
I just got a notice that Anakin will be arriving in SS's warehouse in the next 3-5 days. Man, my CC could sure use a break!
I am looking forward to this one though (along with Obi-Wan).
Though I can't remember if I was able to snag the exclusive version...

Not sure what its like in the States but here in the U.K I dont have any trouble stocking sideshow stuff. Obviously I can't get the exclusive stuff as that sells via Sideshow only but the normal stuff is relatively easy to aquire.
-
A Hong Kong seller on ebay has an in-hand 12" Anakin auction going.
-
Just found this pic on Scum. I seriously hope that isn't the Anakin (on the left) that we will all receive.
-
Yeah, the prototype always looks better. Much more attention is paid because there is only one being made vs. 6500.
Here's another pic of the production unit:
I really can't complain. When you compare this $60 figures to a Hasbro $25 figure, there's no comparison.
This Sideshow line of 12" figures is starting to become my favorite SW line to collect.
Is that saying much these days? :P
-
He still looks amazing. And besides, the lighting is so poor in that pic on the left that you can't fairly compare it to the prototype pic on the right. I have no doubt I'll be happy with it.
-
Right-o.
People were freaking out when images started showing up of the Luke headsculpt (with bad lighting and flash reflections).
I couldn't be happier with my Luke.
There is one figure that I'm worried about - Bespin Han.
-
I sincerely hope it is closer to the production sample than to what I posted.
I agree, that Han could be a disaster.
-
I can't wait I'll have mine in about 2 weeks with my 1/4 greavous as well. Its going to be great.
-
(http://img323.imageshack.us/img323/903/comparison9rf.jpg)
Juz got mine...the head scupt is the same as right picture above. But the costume seems a big large compared to the prototype's.
-
I can't wait to get Anakin, and rip him out of his box. Ani is one of the figs I am looking forward to the most.
Like with alot of people, I am a bit disappointed with some of the paint application (glossy dark lips, and little to no light brown wash in the hair), those are minor things for me, that will not detract from what is shaping up to be great overall.
As for the prototype, and Toy Fair pics, in this game you ALWAYS have to expect the final product to look different or not as good as a hand painted/pre-production model. The good thing is with all the feedback and critisim Anakin has been receiving, hopefully SSC will learn from it, and apply it to future releases.
-
I just checked the status of my shipment and he was delivered to my house this morning. Can't wait to get home and check it out. Maybe I'll post pictures later - although everyone has already seen far better images than I could ever produce...
-
Mine still has not shipped. :-[

Me either :(

I don't think I can ever see enough pictures so post away if you take any!!
-
I just got my shipping notice this morning...now I have to wait for the truck to make it coast to coast.
-
I assume since i got the exclusive version through the waitlist, I will be one of the last to get mine. :-[
-
I ordered this particular one through BigBadToyStore so I am just getting the regular version. I got an email this morning stating that it will be shipping soon. I figure I should have it before I leave on a month's vacation next Friday (insert dancing banana's here).
-
I just got my tracking number :)
-
Just got one today on ebay for $69 dlvd.
-
Received mine yesterday via Fedex. As I mentioned before, I do NOT regret getting into this line!
-
Received my Anakin a few days ago. Outstanding figure, with a couple of small flaws, but incredible nontheless. Here are some crappy pics of my favorite pose from Star Wars insider Magazine #82:

Btw, SSC really has to reconsider double boxing when they ship these beauties out. My presentation box had plenty of creases, dings, and a couple of 1" tears on the flaps. :-\
-
Ooohh...love those photos!!! Thanks for sharing.
Was your Luke box damaged too? That really blows for collectors who keep this stuff boxed.
-

It had some very minor creasing on the inside flap, nothing I couldn't live with. That's what happens when you ship them in thin mailer boxes. The one thing I really sweat is the dreaded "nose rub".
-
Pics look great, Ricardo. I haven't opened mine but am looking forward to it. Looks like I've lucked out. Both of my SS figs that have showed up so far have come pretty close to mint. With those boxes they ship them in though, it's only a matter of time :-\.
-
Mine should be showing up today. The mailer box for my Luke had a pretty nice ding in it, but fortunately it didn't transfer through the bubble wrap to the figure box.
-
Well, I didn't get as lucky this time. The bottom of my box was dented pretty badly. :'(
-

Sucks. If your in the U.S. contact aimee.venable@Sideshowcollectibles.com or through her direct phone line at 805-214-2158. She is hooking me up with a new box free of charge. I also requested that all my future SW 12" orders to be double boxed, and she said my account would be flagged as "MIB" collector.
So you can do that to, and avoid any future package damage. Oh yeah, and make sure to mention whether you have a regular or exclusive box.
-
That's great info... thanks! :)
-
That's really cool that they do that.
-
Received my Anakin today from Jared and once again I'm impressed by the quality. I think I like this one even more than Luke (which I like a lot). Glad I got into this line, now bring on Obi Wan. ;D

Too bad Obi-Wan has been delayed til August. >:(

Cool! Thanks for the info. I'll email her this morning. I just filled out the customer service sheet to ask if they had a replacement because I wanted to make sure I actually got an exclusive replacement since a friend of mine got shipped a regular replacement for her exclusive Luke.
-

Bummer. So we might get Kit first. The SDCC Anakin does ship in July so that could hold us over until Obi Wan (although he won't have anyone to fight until then :'()
-
I got my Anakin last night and can't wait to set him up this evening when I get home. Has anyone had any trouble with his arms not staying in?? I had a terrible time with Luke (from Medicom) and hope that I don't have the same issues with Sideshow.

His right arm was detached when I took him out of the box, so I thought I might have a problem. Put it back together and it's pretty solid and stays attached well.
-
Well, I had a helluva time with Anakin's arm. It took over half an hour just to get it stay in place once I re-did his tunic. I was almost gonna tape the stupid thing but it finally all stayed in place for the pose I wanted. I snapped some pictures of him in front of his MR sabers and will probably keep him in that spot.
The fabrics used were really nice and I think they did a fantastic job on the belt (which is probably my favorite part of the whole outfit since it has great detail and all the items that were on it).
All in all, once I got passed the arm issue, I am very happy with it and look forward to the rest of the line.

Well, after reading all the threads at Scum about this figure, it seems everyone has had issues w/ the arm. One of the mods even did a picture tutorial on how to fix the issue, but it seems more than a few people have actually done damage to the fig in attempting this, mostly to the belt. Seems the belt breaks pretty easily. FedEx shipment on mine is due next week so we'll see what I encounter.
-
I hopped on over to RS and reviewed the threads. Interesting that I pretty much fixed Anakin's sleeve the way the tutorial went. It's a bummer though that so many have had the same situation and I really doubt the SDCC exclusive will address the problem. I, too, almost broke my saber. It's very loose and I was just hoping it wouldn't snap off. I really didn't want to find out if it came out and popped back in or not (and it looks like it doesn't, according to a poster over at 'Scum).
Still, I like the doll and am going to make long "jammie" pants for him and do the bedroom scene so I can utilize the mechanical arm (unless they make a wedding Padme :) ).
-
I got mine today, looks great. The arm is loose in the box though, hanging very low.
-
I really like this line and think it's the best bang for my buck..
With that said, I've completely given up on the 3.75" line as it is too costly to keep up on and too many rehashes to boot.
Does anyone know where I can find some decent 12" figure display cases? I can't keep up with the dust collecting on my SS figures.

I'm buying this one for my SS figures:

IKEA Detolf (http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15561&catalogId=10103&storeId=12&productId=11638&langId=-1&categoryId=15645&chosenPartNumber=10011055)
-
Thanks, I was going to order it online and the total price came to $335.
I guess I'll have to wait and take a road trip to my nearest IKEA store....
-
****, $275 for shipping? Where the hell they shipping it from, the moon?
-

Oh yeah.. IKEA is the way to go.... 60 bucks for something like that if I recollect
-
I managed to score one of these off of eBay and it showed up today. I really like not only the likeness and etail of the figure but the packaging! The magnets that close the box are a nice touch!

Yeah.. the magnets are a great idea... I don't like the "tabs" you need to pull out and re-insert though.... one of mine is already looking to tear after 2 open/close actions.
Sigh....
-
Mine arrived yesterday...at my old address!! Luckily the people who bought the house know me and my cell was on the package (FedEx delivery) so they called me and I picked it up. Awesome figure and my box was mint! Now I just need to read around on the tutorials and see how I want to go about handling the arm.
-
I did the arm/gauntlet tutorial from Scum and it worked pretty well. The arm only fell out once and I guess as long as I don't play with it much in terms of posing it should be fine. Hopefully SS corrects this issue on the Vader. It's an awesome fig!

Do you have a direct link to that tutorial, Jay? I haven't been keeping up and don't want to search through pages and pages of threads trying to find it.

As a matter of fact I do:

Just scroll down the page.

Thanks for the link Jay. I had to scroll a little farther than the page you linked to, so this link (http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=1934072&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1#1934072) may help others too; I also copied Dave's pics over here:

Note: If you have "taped" your arm on you will need to remove the tape in order to do this. However, this should also rectify the problem of the arm falling off anyway.
