The Vintage Collection / Re: Hasbro Q&A Sessions
« on: June 13, 2007, 09:33 AM »
Ok I composited the two Lando pics to be about the same size. I also lightened up the smuggler pic so you can see things more clearly. The sleeves are not really grey on the lando, but I had to keep close to the original contrast of color so you can see the folds. If I didn't then the lightening of the pic would have blown out the color and you wouldn't be able to tell.

Anyway in the pic you can clearly see that it's the complete Lando VOTC body. Arms, torso, waist (including the belt, which has now been painted to match the pants), legs, and feet.

So indeed it is only the collar and the head that are different to this sculpt. Of course the paint job on the rest of the Lando now reflects the smuggler outfit better.

Not excited about this fig, but it has it's merits over my custom in the articulation, so I'll prolly get it.

Well, I'm still holding strong with an army of one...not for lack of trying though.

So if it doesn't do well, we only have ourselves to blame.

No, not really. We would have Hasbro repacking several nasty pegwarmers to blame. The rest of the figures I see being very popular.

ROTS Chewbacca
ROTS Yoda
ROTS Anakin (at this point hes getting to be as bad as Cantina Han)
500th Vader
TSC Boushh Leia
ROTS Obi-Wan Red Leader Pilot
ROTS 'Talking' R2-D2

I dont remember voting for any of those.  :'( >:(

Treu true. I didn't vote for them either. They've only just started showing up in my area and there a no reports yet of pegwarming. There are enough case revisions with the Legends line that phase out the specific characters yet keep in troops, so I think we'll be ok with this. May be some pegging, but hopefully not too bad.

Sal, sent you a PM.

Oddly, I've been seeing all of the Vintage hanging around on the shelves for days, except for the snowtrooper.

Thanks DA, I got it and replied.

Pegging in my area:
Tons of saga stuff-to much to mention
TAC:
wv1-Obi, Mc, R2, Vader w/coin
wv2-Luke, Han, sometimes

wv3 is just hitting in my area, so I don't expect too many pegwarmers at first, but I'll guess that Vader, Biggs and the Jawa will peg, then Luke. The Stormtrooper will not peg in my area. There are too many army builders (myself included) who will snatch them up.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: 2007 Saga Legends

I'm very surprised that I'm seeing wave 3 on the pegs and not Saga Legends.  But then there is some strange level of excitement for this line.  Sure, I understand the army building thing, but as for other characters in this line?  I just don't get it.

Agreed. Of the first 10 on the Legends cardback, I'm only after the AOTC clone in multiple numbers and MAYBE the re battle droid set. That's it. Of the next 10, there's maybe 3 or 4 there I want. Granted the Grey commander I want a lot of if the belt/kama cna be swapped out for a regular belt. As well I want to build up the 501st trooper if it's teh SA version (Not the AT-TE gunner version). But that it really. I may get one of two Darktroopers. 1 for the coin, 1 to keep carded.

So for me, I'll actually be saving, believe it or not, despite teh army building.

It's not a bad subline though and we did get to pick most of what eventually ended up on the lsit to be made. So if it doesn't do well, we only have ourselves to blame.

I've got one and now that I've opened it I know I'll get more. At first site I thought it was going to be an issue with me with the helmet. I got over that real quick. I definitely want two more so I can have Luke and Han stormtrooper figs. I look to have 20 more beyond those as well. So I'm hoping to get 22 total including the two "customs."

But as I said, at present, only have the one.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: 30AC #20 Stormtrooper
« on: June 6, 2007, 02:03 PM »
For the record I've got zero of #20 so far, but man-oh-man...  :)  I'm really excited at the prospect of building up my basic Stormtrooper ranks extensively.

About the T4 Trooper, I like him a lot too but I wouldn't say I like him more or less honestly...  I just like him.  He's a little diversity to the white armored ranks, and the slot's nice if you want some clean troops with packs ya know?  But I'm just ecstatic to be getting a SA stormie in the mix that isn't covered in muck...  Been a long time coming.

I just hope Hasbro's got good, smart, well thought remix waves in the works for 2007 because I can't speak for the rest of you but I'm not done building Wave 1 and 2 armies, and now Wave 3 is here...  They could do solid army builder cases (2 of any given army builder) and I think they'd be putting out some solid figures that would move well.  Hell even the Rebel Honor Guard is a tough find in Pittsburgh and people predicted him a pegwarmer.  Dude's been a pain to find...  I have 3 and only 1 was bought at a store, haha.

I hear ya Jesse. I have only found Luke from wave3. And strangely enough I just need to AB the Rebel Honor Guard as well from wv2. Other than that fig, I don't need to AB any more from waves 1 and 2. The Stormie is going to be VHTF in our area. I know there are several ABs besides us in the area. In a way you're lucky being a little out of the way. The stores around me get so picked over by the time I'm done with work. It's one reason I network around the U.S. and make trades/deals all over the place. Otherwise, I'd never be able to find the figures I want.

Not unless Hasbro shipps more ABs like this in a case, and they've already said they are against that. So we just have to hope they show up in refresh cases later. The ABs from wvs 1 and 2 are goign to keep shipping, so I have every reason to believ ethe iconic Stormtrooper will. Heck that figure should practically be available all year round...

I think FU Wave, Qui-Gon, Bothan, and Thrawn are all thats really been confirmed yet. FU Wave looks awesome, some figures more than others. And the thing about the CW series that makes me so excited is that it presents a bigger chance for the AT-TE, and maybe just maybe a homing spider droid!

You hit the nail on the head there. If there's one last chance to get those two, then is the time. No excuses from Hasbro this time. Certainly not for the AT-TE. Even then, the Homing Spider droid is even easier to produce than the AT-TE. With all four legs the same , that's the same tool and die (mold) for it. That just leaves the body which is little more than a sphere with a few radar dishes on them. This one should have been a no brainer years ago. Plus since it could be easily assembled, it could come in a small box (long yes, but not wide) so it could be done at the right scale AND be kept at the $20 pricepoint. Okay maybe $30 if they make it so the Ball body can open up to hold a Battle Droid. No not canon, but makes for a good toy then and gives Hasbro a chance to sell more Battle Droids.

Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere or should be elsewhere, but what do you folks who have squads of snowies do with the UGH things (if not redeeming them yourselves)? Do you trade or sell them or would you consider doing so?

I'm plannign on keeping a set or two for myself. I'll have a third set. I'll probably trade for something else. (This AFTER I mail it in. It would be in bad taste to just trade the little stickers, IMHO. But at least with the coins, there is something solid to trade, not to mention you DID spend $4.95 to send away for the coin set. So that seems more fair when asking for something in trade. Again just my opinion though.

Got some more over the weekend.

I'm at 11 (1 carded, 10 loose). That's it for me. Unless these come on regular cards cheaper down the line, I'm done with Snowtroopers.

The Black Pearl was also possible because Zizzle knew that they had two films back to back, so that the toy would be on shelves for close to two years.  I'm guessing with the CW TV show, we'll get out Prequel walker.

Agreed, on the Black Pearl point.

Here's hoping on the Walker point.

I only have six, they look great together.
Great review, great figure

They do don't they. I've got a nice company of a little over 20. (I think 23 at last count). With the varied "dirt" on them, they look much more realistic than the typical applied battle damage that's so prevalent on all the other clones.

I now have 5 after teh ones I bought today. I'll prolly get 5 more and stop....maybe.

Luke and Leia are sub par, IMO. Han isn't far behind, though I like the hatless version. (Finally)

Bossk, IG-88 and the Snowtrooper are awesome figs. We finally have the ultimate Bossk. IG-88 is VERY close to being the ultimate and if never done new again, I can accept this version as such. The snowtrooper is a thing of art.

Nicklab, not one week ago, I would have agreed with your statement. However with new reports of W*M's downfall regarding low quality good is making me think they are going to loose some of this power. Yes, low quality goods are nothing new from W*M, but the low sales figures and layoffs are.

Hasbro CAN afford to market ships to other vendors. Maybe make a shared exclusive. Or just plain sell to those stores who will order from them. Then there's also the online market.  With so many e-tailors out there, there's PLENTY of options.

IIRC, I saw or read a report on law suits against W*M. Not just the labor relations suits that are climbing, but somethign to do with their products they sell.

Wal Mart is a neccessary evil, but they do not need to be all powerful. Granted a company that stands up to W*M runs the risk of losing them as a buyer and that can be devastating. But one ship or figure here or there has proven not to be a problem.

Hasbro can contril some of this, they just have to be crafty in how they do it.

In reality I think the problem with large vehicles is more about finding a way to produce them inexpensively yet in a fair size to appease us.

I'm all for an AT-TE. My buying price would be $60, so I'd get three. If it's more $'s and is a good ship, I can see it go for $80. Any more than that and Hasbro is asking for trouble for themselves.

I guess time will tell with regards to W*M, but I still believe Hasbro can get it done. They just need to be smart about it.
