So I think, unless you have some damning statement I haven't seen, you need to give the director the benefit of the doubt.  If you're not comfortable with Johnny being black for some non-racist reason, please share.

Since it sounds like you are calling me a racist, I will say it has nothing to do with race. It has to do with how the characters were created. I would have the same problem if they cast a white guy to play black panther or a white woman for storm. Not accurate to the original comics.
Precisely.  I was called out as a racist on FB this weekend over this topic.  Of course the back-pedaling that happened when I suggested Matt Damon be cast as Black Panther was laughable.

This is a publicity stunt, nothing more.  And a successful one, I might add.

It feels like the Green Lantern.

Yeah, except better actors + a fun plot + lots of humor + possibly a good movie.
I'd also say that the material lends itself to this tone more than Green Lantern did.  I hate when I hear this gripe, but I think it fits with GL.  Too much CGI.

Ugh.  Fox just doesn't get it.  Why swap the race of a super-main character other than to get people talking?  THIS is exactly what pisses the core fans off, their utter disregard for the characters.  While a character like, say, Hawkeye isn't exactly like his comic counterpart, Feige and the others didn't go, "hmm...  let's make him a woman.  That's creative!"

I am not one for slavish devotion to the source material, but stunts like this are ridiculous.

This reminds me of The Fifth Element, where the creators are self aware of some of the ridiculousness, but they are happy to own it.

So the Rebels are the Wolverines.  Got it.

Compendium 2 was $25 at Amazon a few days ago.  It's up to $30 now.

I think the brand is shaking off EU so that they don't need to worry about any continuity.  Seems like it now extends to merchandise.  I am sure the Mouse House doesn't want Hasbro making Jaina Solo figures when their EP7 negates her existence in some way.

Unfortunately, to get Groot, you have to get the rest.  He's the B-A-F.

Back to the spoiler...  Pretty awesome, and to be honest, this should be something added into either AotC or RotS.  It would be awesome to see this as a  post-credits coda on AotC: SE.

I have often said that there is a vast pool of fan talent that they could easily tap into.  This is a great idea, at least from a perspective of input.

It blows my mind when these big companies get things so wrong when there would be thousands of nerds willing to churn out better products for little investment.  Think Transformers, DC movies, etc. etc.

Tap into those that love the product.  Emotional investment can produce dividends.

That business with Coulston and the surgery was a definite holy **** moment for me.

It has gotten much better in the past few episodes.

I saw a clip or read a story with the producers, and things sound grim for Judith. They wore or less said that there are limits to what they could show. I will try to dig it up.

I agree with Jesse here.  At the minimum, that arm on his torso looks like it turns out and the ankles look articulated.
