Jocasta's Reading Room / Re: Republic Commando
« on: January 9, 2005, 05:39 PM »
I quite enjoyed Republic Commando, my favorite book so far, Shatter Point being a close second.

The characters are well defined, the tactics and lingo are very accurate reality wise, but in a Star Wars universe.

I also liked the bad guy as he is a Mandalorian.  I was very interested in his mindset, thoughts and interactions towards the Clone Troopers.

Anthing Clone Trooper is cool in my book, and the author Karen Traviss does a superb job giving CT's a human face behind those helmets.  They fight, bleed, hurt, and die, something we dont get to see at the "video game"  type battle of AOTC.

Short but sweet, 9.5. :)

Jocasta's Reading Room / Re: What's your LEAST favorite book?

I hated Rogue planet.

Rogue Planet sucked I also didn't like Shadow Hunter

I just finished Rogue Panet, and would agree with the above sentiments.

I came away saying "That's it, that's Obi-Wan and Anakin's adventure?, how boring"

Also, had a hard time visualizing some of the author's description of events, aliens and enviroments. ???

One of the parts I did like about it, was the seed-partners and the process of creating the "Living" Sekot ships.  I thought it was probably the only interesting part of the book.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate it a  5, eh. :-\

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: Clone Trooper 4 Packs!
« on: January 4, 2005, 06:54 PM »
YES! the rumors were true!  They cost an arm and a leg, but I just love these guys.  No more paying premium prices on ebay anymore.

With what I ordered, that statement "Grand Army of the Republic" should apply. :P

I'm glad Hasbro finally has heard the cries of us collectors to bring this awesome fig back+ w/different ranks/variants, even if the price is a bit steep.

At least they are made available for those who want them.

Yep, dealt with Tony on RS now on JD and it's always nice to deal with those that stand out.  Tony sold me some htf figures at really fair prices, lightspeed shipping, and everything arrived in beyond mint condition, prestine.  Thanks again Tony! :)

Dave strikes again!  It seems I'm always jacking Dave of his very hard to come by figures. :(   But, like always he is gracious enough to part with them, and even add more to the deal.  Thanks once again Dave. :)

On a happier note, I got my last four mini-sabers today, all in perfect shape!  So I'm all caught up (with the exception of the gold/ebay chase pieces, that I don't want).  Just need a couple Jedi cases to put the rest into now...

Congrats and good luck with the Jedi cases....your going to need it. :P

Anxious to hear who's on tap next.  Sounds like an announcement is due from MR pretty soon on the next wave, based on some rumors I've seen around the net.  Can't wait!   8)

What have you heard Matt? ROTS sabers? I hope one of them is Sidious's!  Spill the beans :)

Sweeeeeeet, love the weathering job. Hasbro seems to get the prequel vehicles down pretty good ala, Republic Gunship.  Definately picking up one, maybe two. :)

Met up with Matt over the Thanksgiving Day weekend.  I helped him out with a nice little exclusive, and in turn Matt hooked me up with some cash. Always a pleasure to deal with Matt in person or over the net.  Thanks again!

Forgot to mention my Ebay Luke arrived yesterday as well.  Pretty cool, should round off the AFB Obi, Weathered Obi, and now the Ebay Luke quite nicely.  Just got to get another darn Jedi trio case to display them in. :P

On a different note has anyone dealt with Master Replica's customer service?  I wanted to see about replacing my Dooku mini saber.  Would I contact their request service or their regular customer service email addy?

Ricardo, I dealt with their customer service once, and it went quite well!  I had to ship my Anakin FX saber back to them due to some problems with it.  They e-mailed me a shipping label (so I wouldn't have to pay postage), and had a brand new one to me within a week or so.  Totally painless.

Plus, they're just right down by us - somewhere near Torrance or Long Beach, so it's nice and quick (at least that's where they told me to ship it).  Here's their customer service info from their site:

...please feel free to call us at 1-866-REPLIKA or 734-258-1948 or email us at: customerservice@masterreplicas.com

Good luck!  Also, I'll be down in OC for Thanksgiving, and likely driving back up sometime on Saturday.  So maybe if the Obi-Wan sabers show up by then, and you're around, I could just swing by on my way back home...

Dealing with MR was pretty painless.  FedEx on the other hand...well plain $ucks.

Went to ship out and the guy behind the counter told me I can't ship ground with an Express box.  Ok, I thought I was slick and went to my car flipped the box over.  The guy gave me more attitude about "You think I don't know you flipped that box around, you know how many people come in", yadda yadda.  He must have been having problems with his bf on the phone. ::)

Anyways Matt, the sabers arrived today.

Edit: just got your PM

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS carded figures
« on: November 23, 2004, 12:32 PM »
I am so happy to see that the Clone Trooper seems to be the SA Clone Trooper with new helmet. :D  I can't get enough of these guys, and it's about freak'in time Hasbro reissued this awesome figure.  Hopefully, he will be a little easier to find than the CW figure was.

Curious, that the Clone Trooper shown on the back of the card seems to have the "AOTC style" longer DC-15 blaster rifle.  If memory serves me right at 2004 SDCC they had a life sized ROTS Clone Trooper statue. He had what appeared to be a medium sized blaster/rifle hybrid of the DC-15 and Imperial blaster.  I kinda though at the time it was cool that they were further bridging the gap between Stormies/Clone Troopers with the helmet/rifle hybrids.
