Looks awesome!

Even more reason for me to pick up the Criterion blu-ray of Anatomy of a Murder later this month.

Don't forget Road House!

 :D

"Get this POS coward off my lawn!"

And pancreatic cancer, too, same as Swayze. As I wrote on PhGeek.com, somewhere Sam Elliott is getting screened for that terrible cancer.

The Vintage Collection / Re: Tonnika Sisters coming?

Can you cite any one of them that was made coming off an appearance in an advertisement?

No, but I can cite aliens which *didn't* appear in movies or can't be found without the use of hi-def freeze frames.  It's not "From the hit commercial!" so much as it is "Here's a point of reference."   We've seen figures based on unused concept designs, (relatively) obscure 1980s comic books, and whatever the heck Jorg Sacul is. When you get right down to it, the bulk of what happens gets made because someone WANTS it to happen.  They don't need an excuse, or even a precedent, half the time.

Apples and bowling balls, Adam. Perhaps you should reread my original post. I'm not arguing we have over 1,800 from varied sources, I said it's doubtful the character(s) appearance here (and if you watched the commercial, you really have to know to look for them) will turn her/them into plastic. I'm all for it, I merely don't think it will happen if we're predicating it on a Superbowl ad.

I think it's a real stretch to try to get figures out of these characters just because they're appearing in an advertisement, but whatever.

Is it any more of a stretch than any of the reasons some of the other 1800+ figures got made? :)

Jorge Garcia is great and we're so glad he's on this show. We've even gotten reaction from him on our podcast. You never know who could show up in the Liveblog tonight...

Will you be watching the two-hour premiere of the new J.J. Abrams' prison island-themed show tonight at 8 EST (9 CST)?
It stars Sarah Jones ("Sons of Anarchy"), Jorge Garcia of "LOST" fame as well as Sam Neill ("Jurassic Park") and centers around 302 prisoners and guards who went missing in 1963 suddenly showing up in our time.
PhGeek.com will be liveblogging the premiere beginning at 7:45 p.m. at http://phgeek.blogspot.com/2012/01/alcatraz-liveblog-watch-with-us.html. Please feel free to drop by and join us.
If you want a primer before or are searching for answers afterward, you can check out the Alcatraz Podcast by PhGeek.com at http://alcatraz.podbean.com/. This week at www.PhGeek.com we even went so far as to try to predict the endgame of the show before the first episode even airs. Still time to get yours in.
Anyway, looking forward to tonight's premiere. I hope you check it out and take part in the conversation that Abrams' shows generally lead to. Enjoy!

Ok, here I go.  I really like the vintage collection for the cardbacks.  The figures are amazing sculpts anymore, but the cardbacks are usually great.  I was really looking forward to the Luke Cardback.  I thought for certain they would use that screen capture from the deleted scene as shown in the earlier post.  That would have looked so badass IMO.  Now to see the final cardback image is a huge letdown for me as far as cardbacks go.  To top it off his is the worst of the 5 cardbacks IMO.  Leia's and Lando's are ok but they could have been better.  Cracken and the Pilot's look terrible IMO.  I can't belive they picked that goofy-assed smiling picture for him when they got the Gunner one.  Oh well, he's not a fav character anyway but bleh.  It just looks really lame.

Now for the igures themselves.  I am all in for the Luke, Leia and Lando.  Mainly Luke and Lando.  I am not happy with the cloak they picked for Luke.  Brown?  Really?  Sigh.   I like the figure though.  Cracken and the Pilot I may leave on the pegs.  Not that excited about them.

Aw, you beat me to defeding the cardbacks. The only fault, as I see it, is the really decent photos previously listed here that would have made great card art themselves. Jeesh, Hasbro, work smarter, not harder.
