I wanted to ask about this. I didn't feel that I got a really clear response over at RS when I asked, so I'll ask here. (BTW, referring to a conversation in Watto's, I only visit RS for the vintage and trade sections.)
Anyway, in a link here on page 3 of this thread, I've put up a picture of my most recent Han purchase. I was a bit nervous about the purchase because the figure had a stormie gun (later determined by me to be a freak occurence). Once it arrived, I was terrified that I had a faked figure. So I put it under the light, searching the bubble seal, and then ran a search on TRG. I came to find out it was a variation I hadn't been aware of, an ROTJ 48A Hoth Han. John Hamm helped me out as best he could, but I'm still not sure about the figure/cardback variation and rarity.
The ROTJ 48 was obviously the first run on that cardback. My question, how hard to come by are the figures on that cardback? Also, is that particular variation HTF?
