Thanks to a kind gentleman on Ebay selling replacement cigarettes anyway.

My mother's old paper mache smoking monkey, a truly classic toy, is back in action as of tonight.  My replacement 20 cigarettes came in the mail, and I immediately got my monkey from his home in the Cantina, and let him smoke 'em, cuz he gotz 'em.

He worked flawlessly, blowing smoke rings like he was in the 1950's all over again. :)  

This is easily one of the funniest things ever to me, and while simple, I am entertained more with every puff.  I had one as a kid, and I'm still surprised any of these managed to get into my age-range.  They're hardly "toys" by today's standards, that's for sure.

I have a nice set of plastic monkeys I need to try out, and now's the perfect time...  

Off to play with fire!

Good to hear Jesse.  I assume you've already posted this over at GH, right?  I know the monket enthusiasts there (especially John) will be most pleased to hear of such a cool monket toy...   ;)

So do they have any similar smoking llamas?   ???   :-*

Hmmm, llama's wouldn't fit as well I don't think...   :-\  These were a simple bubblegum machine toy afterall.

I can't get over him smoking his little cigs...  Even leaves a roach when he's done.  Too funny. ;D

Hell yeah, he just puffed a blunt 33 times, and I counted about 20 decent smoke rings!

It's like a game, I should start gambling with these.

A very nice run indeed, tonight my monkey got 41 good puffs, and a ton of good smoke rings.  A very good run indeed, but I must admit that cancer stick was a tad longer than the others, just a hair though.

I've still yet to open one of the 12 plastic ones I won, which are of the same brand in the photo provided by DSJ.

I'm not sure how well those work, but I really need to try those out at some point.  Their cigs are definately different though.  Longer, but not as thick (And not painted to look like pack cigarettes...  Look more like joints or hand-rolled zig-zags).

Hmmm, I wonder if the guy making replacements can make stogies to go with my monkey?  Hmmm...

I'm ecstatic for both personally...  Excellent additions at low, low, low cost.

Recently I also used a lovely monkey .jpg to illustrate a point I was making about 2 of the more, uhm, "youthful" members at GalacticHunter one evening.

But I'm not sure it's working any longer now.  A funny image of monkeys fighting with sabers while other dapper monkeys looked on.   It did give a strong visual of what I felt the "argument" would look like in real life as well.

No I don't want him to quit though...  It's his smoking and other bad primate habits that endear me to him.

On Ebay, smoking monkeys are relatively inexpensive...  And they make the #1 boutique X-Mas gift item.

Well, as luck would have it, I picked up 2 recent items on Ebay this past month, and they arrived today!

A ceramic smoking monkey, complete with a pack of smokes.  Unfortunately he's packed with one in his mouth and arrived with it broken so I had to pull it out with pliars and light the broken cancer stick.  :(

And I also got a cigarette case, with a smoking monkey on the cover.

Very classy.

Unfortunately I can't find my old smoking monkey thread, or I'd just add to it, so sorry for the new one...  Can't relive the fun I guess.

They have some nice smoking monkey oil paintings up for $.01 but the shipping is $20!  Yikes...  Does it cost that much to get something like that shipped?  Sounds like Monkey Business to me!

The Ceramic Monkey I got doesn't smoke as well as my old paper mache smoking novelty monkey.  That one actually blows smoke rings!  Still, he puffs away like there's no tomorrw on his cigs, so it's cool.

So I found someone who has 3 of the OLD paper mache monkeys like the one my mom gave to me...  He won't sell though...  yet.

I'm jonesing for some new ones but money is tight.  At least I know where a few are at that I may be able to get ahold of though, and expand the collection.

For a gift this X-mas, the lil woman has a bitchin' monkey neck wrap that arrived today (Peebles was sold out...  f'n Peebles).  I opened it immediately to check it out.  It's probably one of the cheapest things she'll get, but it's pure awesome.  It made me regret not buying two.

I was yelled at earlier, so I don't think so, but I don't care. :)  Her next gift comes tomorrow between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. from Best Buy, and she's probably gonna be pissed at me over that one.  I'm kind of hoping the kids are so in love with it that I don't catch too much hell.

I was going to get it at a store called Peebles.  I'm not sure if you have them or not out your way Paul.  They're a weird store.  Like a small JC Penney's (even carry some of the same brands), but they tend to put into very rural areas instead of built up ones.  There's 2 or 3 in Western PA and one's right on the hill above me.

They were out (I got a cat one though that's neat, for myself because I get migraines bad).  So I started browsing the interwebs for the manufacturer and came up with places they sell to other than Peebles.  Beale's of Florida is where I ordered one.  It wasn't expensive or anything.  http://www.bealls.com/  Shipped real fast too.
