The basic body shape of the Sandcrawler's flat panels was assembled in wood and hardboard. A thinner styrene plastic "skin" (with all the scribed surface panel details) is glued on top of that.

Wow. That's certainly unusual... someone posting to the Customs forum that does NOT know what the term "kit-bashed" means. I'm not saying that to attack you. It's just an observation.
Anyhow, "kit-bashing" is a term that means to add detailing to the basic shape of a model by taking interesting parts and shapes off of existing model
kit parts or even everyday household items.
It was a technique used widely by the ILM modelmakers back in 1975 and 1976 while building the models for STAR WARS.
