Post by: DSJ™ on March 30, 2003, 02:02 AM
Not very often you see this come up for auction.
A Sears Canadian General Veers Vacuformed (shrinkwrapped) MOC.

Cloud City also has a vacuformed R2-D2 too.

Shane Turgeon, a good friend of mine has these in his collection. Very nice exclusives.

You can read all about the Sears Canada figures here:

Are these authentic?  I didn't read the entire site on the 3rd link you posted, but these just look fake to me.

Those would be a nice addition to any collection.

With them being offered by Cloud City I wouldn't worry about the being fakes.

Very authentic. Not sure why they came out in the vacuformed packages. Maybe they had figures they wanted to get rid of & came up with these cardback versions.
Very hard to find.

Heres an update right from Shane Turgeon.

They were released on the generic black cards simply
because at the time of their release, they were exclusive to Sears Canada and their regular production cardbacks hadn't been produced yet. Sears Canada and Kenner/Irwin had a great working relationship and because of that, they were granted an exclusive release on some of the new figures. There are 7 in total, 4 were released in 1980 (Tusk of Ugnaught, Han Cloud City Outfit, Dengar, and Lobot Lando's Aide) and they eventually came out on 41 backs.
In 1981 Sears had an exclusive on three more upcoming ESB figs and they were General Veers, Luke Hoth and R2 with Periscope. The "different" figure names was also a direct result of the fact that they hadn't been released anywhere else.
Veers is by far the most infamous but actually the most common. The rarest are Han, Lobot and Ugnaught.

Hope that helps...  :)

Many Thanks for this info Shane.  :)  (http://adwoff.com/ubb/graemlins/bigokay.gif)

You know the part about these Canadian vacuum formed cards that can make me kick myself in the butt is that I'm Canadian. When I was just a kid I walked through Sears and saw these on the shelf. I was embarassed for Canada. Isaid to myself "Look at this cheap packaging! Leave it to Canada to be different".

Now I'm looking in the Star Wars Collector's Wish Book pg.41 and the Vacuum packed General Veers and he's staring back at me with a price tag of $3,500.00 USD.

I would love to have the vacuum packed Dengar, but I am never going to pay the price it demands.  But still I would like to have one.

Last I saw for a Dengar was an offer for $700. Not sure if it went for more!

I think the staff should put a complete database with pics, description, and estimated price on the site for all the Canadian vacuum packed figures. It would be a great reference spot.

Is it true there's only 3 known to exist?

This listing on the SWCA (http://theswca.com/index.php?action=disp_item&item_id=42008) makes no mention of how many are known.

Meh, way too high. It has a card dent in the lower left corner & a small ripple on the plastic on the back by the looks of it & also mentions a small opening by the head in the plastic.
