SSG: Regarding Luke Jedi in his Death Star 2 look, the only basic figure of this is from 5 years ago, is preposed, has an action gimmick with floppy arms, and a likeness somewhere between "caveman" and "Harpo Marx". That despite Luke DS2 being the only OT main character figure in the last Fans' Choice poll's top 25 - 10 of the 14 figures above him are made or confirmed, as well as 4 of the 9 figures beneath. Hasbro's past answer on this matter was "theming issues, it may be a while, hang in there," yet since the 2003 DS2 Luke figure there have been 7 ROTJ waves and 2 Vintage-style lines with ROTJ figures; as well as 4 more Luke Jedi with Jabba's Palace outfits and Toy Fair has shown yet another ROTJ wave, this time with a Jabba's Palace-styled Luke Jedi from a deleted scene; and the previous new Luke Jedi figure could have fit the bill with its removable vest and outer belt yet was designed specifically against making it into DS2 Luke. Fans want Luke DS2, most of the other Fans' Choice poll results have been made or confirmed, Hasbro's had several opportunities, now we have sandstorm Luke coming - a deleted scene figure - over Luke DS2 which is baffling. So what's the full story here, why no Luke Jedi DS2 yet again? When can collectors finally get the last main OT character's significant costume yet to be done as an action figure?
Hasbro: We chose the deleted Sandstorm theme to bind several core characters together. We had long planned to do both versions, but the Sandstorm scene came first in rotation because of our desire for the new Han and Chewie, so a new Death Star II Luke was slotted into the next Episode VI wave. We are pleased to announce that if our schedule holds, you will see the next Episode VI wave in late Spring 2009.

Finally. Let's hope it's worth the wait.
-
That's good news, but I'm more excited to hear that there will be another ROTJ wave and a chance for other characters like SA Ackbar or some skiff guards to be made.
-
Always good to hear about a ROTJ, glad there will be one next year.
-
Okay, now that this thread is about the entire wave, here's my idea of a perfect ROTJ wave (and Luke). I'd like to see a mix of Jabba's Palace/Endor, and hopefully we'll also finally get an Ackbar resculpt.
1. Admiral Ackbar (new, SA)
2. Nien Nunb (new, SA)
3. Sim Aloo
4. Ars Dangor
5. Yoxgit
6. Gammorrean Guard (new, SA)
7. Slave Leia (new, SA) CONFIRMED
8. and Luke CONFIRMED
EDIT: I just remembered a Slave Leia resculpt was confirmed, so she'll probably be in this wave as well. I also put in an SA Gammorrean Guard, how could I have forgotten? :o
-
Here's the wave I'd like to see. No obscure aliens for me since we're getting some in Legacy Wave 1.
1. Admiral Ackbar - SA with either tech equipment or part of his big ass chair
2. Slave Leia - SA with chain
3. Wicket - near SA resculpt (similar to the 30AC Ewoks)
4. The Emperor - Evolutions with new neutral expression head w/ cane and force lightning hands; don't call him Palpatine either
5. Admiral Piett - resculpt; give it Jerjerrod articulation with ball jointed knees/ankles and I'll be happy
6. Emperor's Royal Guard - ROTS rerelease with staff instead of rifle; maybe give him a removable helmet and unique headsculpt?
7. Mon Mothma - I think it's about time for a new ROTJ version
8. and Luke, which will apparently be SA; I'd give him handcuffs too
And there's my idea of a 'perfect' ROTJ wave. I know a lot of people would differ in opinion but this is something I'd like to see since it covers a lot of characters we haven't seen on shelves since 1997.
-
Sticking with the 8 figure wave theme, here are my wants for this wave:
SA Gamorrean Guard
SA Luke (of course)
SA Admiral Piett w/removable hat (really I'd like this to be an SA Imperial officer of varying ranks. Lt.; Cmdr.; Capt.; Admiral-This can easily be acheived by having a small hole where the rank "pips" go, then during a running change, the factory workers can just glue in the new rank pin into the hole. With a running head swap as well, this could garner us plenty of different Imperial officers of varying rank.
SA Rebel General-first start with Lando, have him come with his signature cape, then for a running change switch to Madine sans cape, then a couple of the other generals in the scene. All four would share the same card and all four faces would be on the card. So Hasbro would save money in printing there as well.
SA AT-ST driver with removable helmet, blaster and standard Imperial cap (so we can choose to make him a scanning crew member if we like)
SA Endor Rebel soldier. I didn't like the previous one too much due to lack of articulation.
Scout trooper with Rebel old guys head, removable helmet (not this visor crap for the old guy!)
SA Weequay or Nikto or Barada skiff guard
That's a fair mix of Jabba's palace, Rebels, Imperials. It has one main character in Luke, and if you count the running changes, then Lando and to a lesser degree Madine.

i love waves from rotj :)
maybe finally oola, ackbar, mon mothma and sim aloo, wicket, too ;)
-
I think since the last one was predominatly Jabba's Palace the next one will be Endor/DSII
So, in my dreams it will be this:
Luke Skywalker DSII
Princess Leia (Ewok Village)
Wicket and Paploo Resculpts
Sim Aloo
Nien Nunb
Admiral Ackbar
Lando Calrissian (Ewok Celebration)
Emperor Palpatine (Non-crap Version) w/ Throne
-
I agree that a new Ackbar is in order.
My ideal wave would go something like...
DSII Luke
Ackbar - new
Jerjerrod - new
Nein Numb - new
Klatuu - Jabba's Palace
Nikto - variant outfit
-
Ok so after some thought, he is my hope / guesses for the 2008 wave:
1. DSII Luke
2. Nein Numb
3. Sim Aloo
4. Wooof
5. Slave Leia
6. Wicket
7. Weequay
8. Emperor
-
YAY!
1. DSII Luke
2. Admiral Ackbar- New, SA
3. Slave Leia- New, SA
4. Stormtrooper- VOTC re-pack
5. Wicket & Random Ewok- New
6. Klaatu- New, SA
-
This is great news. I really hope that this is the "end all, be all" Luke that we've been waiting for. There's actually quite a few figures (and resculpts) that I'd like to see from ROTJ - and everyone here has great suggestions. Going by the rumors/confirmations of both Luke and the Slave Leia - here's a wave I'd like to see:
SA Death Star II Jedi Luke Skywalker
Princess Leia (Slave Outfit) - resculpt
Admiral Ackbar - resculpt
Gamorrean Guard - resculpt
Nien Nunb - resculpt
Wicket/Paploo 2 pack - resculpts
Emperor Palpatine w/Throne - resculpt (or using parts of the Evolutions version)
Sim Aloo
There's still quite a bit from ROTJ that I'd like to see, but I'd be pretty happy with this lineup. Lots of resculpts I guess, but many of those POTF2 figures have started looking dated to me.
-
Cool lists but we all know another Vader will have to be thrown into the mix with a Jedi Duel Luke. I would guess the Emperor as well. If they do I hope they add a throne chair for him. Sim Aloo would be a great addition as well.
-
Love to see the Wicket/Paploo requests. That's a no-brainer; both are small stature and would be perfect as a 2-pack. Give them articulation like the recent ewok set, and BAM! Also, I NEED a B-Wing pilot, red, and human.
-
Hmmm. Let's see what I can think of for a decent ROTJ 8 figure wave.
-Luke Skywalker - Death Star 2 duel
-Emporer Palpatine - new sculpt, SA, softgoods, cane, force lightning
-AT-ST Driver - SA, removable helmet
-Nien Nunb - SA, removable cap
-Paploo & Wicket 2-pack
-Wooof - Vintage Klaatu
-Geezum - Jabba's Palace Snivian
-Weequay - Skiff Master
-
DS II Luke (SA)
Wicket/Paploo 2-pack
Logray/Teebo 2-pack
Gamorrean Guard (SA)
Nien Nunb (SA)
Weequay (SA)
Admiral Ackbar
I doubt they'll do two Ewok 2-packs in the same wave, so one of those can be swapped for an all-new Endor Rebel Soldier.
-
DS II Luke (SA)
Wicket/Paploo 2-pack (new Sculpts)
Gamorrean Guard (SA)
Weequay (SA)
Admiral Ackbar (SA)
Nien Nunb (SA)
Y-Wing Pilot
in one of hasbro's Q-A, I think they said that they would do an new Rebel Commando in the next ROTJ wave
-
Hopefully, some of these guys will make it.
Sim Aloo/Ars Dangor/Sate Pestage
Piett (new likeness)
Skiff Master Weequay
Vedain
Grizz Frix
Wicket/Paploo
-
It sounds like a new Malakili (Rancor Keeper) (http://www.sandtroopers.com/smf/index.php?topic=8437.msg199694#msg199694) will be part of this wave...
Interesting - not something I've seen a lot of people requesting, but I'm sure I'll buy him just the same.
-
Sounds good to me, and makes sense now that we're getting the ROTJ Rancor. Like Jeff said though, it's not my most requested figure, but I'll take it.
-
Seems like as good a time as any since the Rancor Keeper is one of the handful of figures from the 90s era that has yet to see a resculpt in the past few years.
-
Cool, I'll take it. Let's have the green Nikto guy that was in that scene with him, too, please! :)
-
I could've lived without a new Rancor Keeper, but at the same time I don't mind a resculpt. The first one's not terribly accurate in sculpt (kind of like Piett, it lacks some detail to the likeness mostly) and deco could certainly use sprucing up. There's about 500 other figures I'd want resculpted first, but eh... With the new Rancor coming it makes sense I guess.
-
I feel the same way, and I'm thinking Hasbro wouldn't have the cajones to release a new Malakili in this wave and not a new Palace Klaatu in the same wave. So they can prevent the attacks with pitchforks by making sure Klaatu is in the wave too!
-
Well so far...based on Q&A rumors
Return of the Jedi (Spring 2009 Wave 3?)
Luke Skywalker (Death Star II)
Princess Leia of some sort
Malakili
Ewok 2 Pack (Wicket, Paploo or Teebo to be included)
-

And with good cause. When I was in Tucson, AZ for a few years, I also saw Malakili sitting around for quite some time. The only figures I've seen in stores longer are 8D8 and the Ugnaughts, but there is one good thing about this announcement. If Hasbro will make a new version of Malakili, we are now at a point where there is absolutely nothing in the realm of action figures that would be considered unreasonable, unlikely, or too risky to bring back for the basic carded figure line.

Luke Skywalker (Death Star II)
Princess Leia of some sort
Malakili
Ewok 2 Pack (Wicket, Paploo or Teebo to be included)
I'd be okay with a new Wicket because he's the most relevant ewok to the plot and because the old one is so bad. I'd be a little bit less okay, but still okay with a new Paploo since the old one is speeder-bike specific. But we definitely don't need a new Teebo.
Also, if any ROTJ wave is going to have resculpts in it, the Gammorean Guard and Admiral Ackbar had better be two of them.
-
For me the 2 most important would be an SA Endor Rebel and and SA generic Dresselian.
Anything else is gravy, could never hurt to make more ewoks. Ackbar and Nien Numb SA would be stellar as well.
-
Princess Leia of some sort
I'm pretty sure this is a Slave Leia resculpt.
So what else do I want from RotJ now that half of the wave (if it has eight figures) has been confirmed? Probably something like this:
Admiral Ackbar (new, SA)
Sim Aloo
Gamorrean Guard (new, SA)
Geezum
-

I'd be cool with either of those, and you're right that a SA Endor Rebel should be a top priority. And while I'd love a new Dresselian figure, I doubt Hasbro considers it so important.
-
Revising my previous speculative list...
-Luke Skywalker - Death Star 2 duel
-Slave Leia - SA
-Malakili
-Wicket & Lumat 2-pack
-AT-ST Driver - SA, removable helmet
-Nien Nunb - SA, removable cap
-Wooof - Vintage Klaatu
-Cane Addis
BAF - R5 unit from Home One
BAF - R2 unit from Home One

Pegwarmers rejoice, you will have company soon!
From the Jawa's Q&A:
2) There was previous mention by Hasbro of a ROTJ style Rancor based on the recent TFU Target exclusive Rancor mold. Is this still coming, and will it come with a newly sculpted Malakili, the Rancor Keeper? This figure is long overdue for an update and packing him in with the Rancor seems to be the best way to prevent him from pegwarming.
By now, you have seen the Rancor based on the new TFU mold (with new molded parts for EpVI). He (she?) will come with Luke, but we can confirm that a new Malakili will be coming in 2009 in the EpVI wave.
Yakface, Skiff Guards, Gammoreaons, Ree-Yees so many great characters that need updates. The Rancor Keeper, in my opinion, still holds up enough. I find this an odd choice to have on the short list given his ghastly peg warming status of years past. While I welcome any new OTC offerings, I am not saying "YES!" to myself for this figure confirmation.
Thoughts?
-
A resculpt of the rancor keeper, but still no Jabba's Palace Klaatu? Criminal.
-

When they finally do produce Klaatu, I hope they give him the fabric "loincloth" skirt/wrap like the vintage figure had - none of that limiting plastic shite.
-
Agreed. I think they'll do a good job on him when they do get around to it.
-
The repaint I gave to Yakface makes him sufficient for me in terms of resculpt need, and I've never felt the Gamorreans were poorly done. The weequays though could desperately use a resculpt.
-
The Gamorreans weren't *bad*, but some added articulation in the arms and two non-fist hands would be nice. I'd also like to see the pike weapon they use when Luke chokes the pair of them at the gates, or maybe a different pose more like in the publicity shots.
...but yeah, the Rancor Keeper is an interesting choice. The only reason I could see to do it is because there's an easy repaint in there-- Flailos from the arena in the Clone Wars cartoons. Which, while I admit is stupid, is something I would run out and push people out of the way to get. (I LOVE the realistic toys based on the show. Get me a Dulok from #21 and I'd probably break an international law or two.)
-
For me, the Yakface is alright, though I wouldn't might a rework similar to how they transitioned the Momaw Nadan figure from POTF2 to TSC. Though some soft good would be nice upgrade perhaps.
Adam, I total agree on the Pig Guard. The arms are in need of a major rework for the pike holding ability. Hope that'll be taken into consideration.
-
Although the POTF2 Gamorrean Guard isn't too bad of a figure overall, its one that I've always looked forward to being redone. Part of it might be that it was one of the first vintage figures I can remember buying, so I've always liked them, but I also think it would be one of those re-dos that we'd be surprised how much better they could do these days. There have been a few figures the past couple years that we've said "the POTF2 one is good enough", and then we're really surprised how much better they can do now. I think the Guard would be a great update, and one I hope we see before too long.
-
I could get behind the Gamorian Guard as well. Weequey too. All of those POTF2 one should get a resculpt - but not necessarily before we get a Jabba's palace Klaatu.
-
I think the following resculpts are needed from POTF2 (and while Malikali is a dumb choice, he did need a resculpt):
Ackbar
Nein Nunb
Gam Guard
Orimarrko
Weequay
AT-ST Driver
Ree Yees
Outside of Ree Yees though, almost every one of those guys was a HUGE pegwarmer, I mean gigantic...I think they finally worked through a lot of the case ratio issues that plagued the line for a lot of years but still, I think they are gunshy of these guys for that reason
-
Outside of Ree Yees though, almost every one of those guys was a HUGE pegwarmer, I mean gigantic...
I have to take issue with you there, brother. I wouldn't call something released in overly obscene amounts a pegwarmer so much as a huge marketing screw-up on Kenner's part. The only reason these guys "pegwarmed" back in the day was because Kenner went from solid cases of them in '97 on the green cards to more solid cases of them in '98 with the freeze frames while the '97 figures were still plentiful. More than a case ration problem, it was a matter of "people will want to buy all the old figures again now that they have slides, let's make twice as many!"
Prune Face was certainly a casualty of that mess, but being a new figure in '98, I never saw him on a peg until the deep discount of 2000 that cleared out all the old crud (alongside Mon Mothma, Lobot, and Prisoner Chewie.)
ReeYees barely saw a peg. A very few cases made it to retail but the majority of those figures were sold via the Fan Club.
-
I'd note the AT-ST driver is an army builder and if done right I think he'd move really well at this point. Lots of demand for that one... Sure he pegwarmed back when, but so did other steaming piles regardless of what character they were. AT-ST Driver would do good today I think.
I personally think any of those could do well today in that waves are so crammed together anymore and demand just seems higher today than 97, 98, etc. Those were fun times in one way, but in another the line was really screwed up on various levels. From the sculpting, to the articulation/playability of the toys, to the mass glut of stuff we were getting, and so on.
Nothing sucked quite like 2002 though.
-

Jesse, how close is the AT-ST driver to the Imperial Scanning Tech in terms of outfit? Could a base figure be created to essentially give us both characters?
-

I Wholeheartedly agree with that. It's the only year since 91' I stopped collecting.

Ackbar

Adding Yakface to that list and I would say that's who really does need a resculpt. I think times were different back then and some of those would move better now especially the Gammoreans and AT-ST drivers.
The Rancor Keeper is someone I can still see warming the pegs. I have a theory that Hasbro must have got the vibe that the last Rancor Keeper was sold (at some backwater drug store in the middle of nowhere). Thinking that it would jinx the Star Wars line if there was not one out at retail, they had to make another to take the mantle of King Pegwarmer. It's like living with a pain for so long you get used to it and cannot live without it.
It's debatable which figure in the SW line is truly king of the pegwarmers: Xizor or the Rancor Keeper. This would make a great thread if there has not been one like this yet.
The repaint I gave to Yakface makes him sufficient for me in terms of resculpt need, and I've never felt the Gamorreans were poorly done. The weequays though could desperately use a resculpt.
Nice paint job! If Hasbro reissued that figure with that level of detail I could live with him again.

Except for the gloves on AT-ST Driver, they are essentially the same. The basic outfit was used on a variety of crewmen throughout the OT including the Rebel Hangar tech. In fact the X-Wing pilot orange outfit looks to be the same as well, unfortunately I've never seen a pic without the flak vest to verify that. It makes me wonder though if we'll be seeing the body of the tech that comes with the Yavin Hangar pack re-used down the road for an AT-ST Driver or Imp Scanning Tech.
Nothing sucked quite like 2002 though.
Yeah at least the figures from 97-98 were on clearance for a buck and a lot of them made for good custom fodder....

good point, I'll have to pay closer attention next time I watch ESB.

Over at the Galactic Blogger ADAM seems to think Kithaba, Fozec and Wooof are part of this wave
-
If the did re-visit the At-St Driver, at least hat-wise (to double as a Tech,) they could get away with doing a Veers, where the helmet fits over a hat. Don't know what to do about the gloves though.

What about the coloring between the techs and the at-st drivers, weren't the tech a lighter grey? maybe as far as the gloves go they could do like how they did w/ROTS Dooku and his hands. Make them "popable" and they could be sleeves or they could be gloves. They could just give them the Luke comic pack hat and the Han at-st helmet.
It's probably asking alot but with the 30AC pack-in stuff we got this year this would hardly be anything, just a new figure that they're going to make eventually. And instead of labeling it as Imperial Technician or AT-ST Driver they just label it as something like Imperial Personnel and give a good background on them on the card.
Way sorry I'm waking up now from my daydream ::)
-
Holy Cr@p, Batman! I just read the first page... haven't visited the forums in a while and other than Scott & David, I think everyone elses "Dream" ROTJ wave consists of all resculpts! Don't get me wrong... I think all listed desperately need a resculpt, well at least most of them anyway. But any dream wave of mine would include some all new figures, too. I mean, there are plenty left that never been made! Ok, now that I got that off my chest, I can go back and start reading page two! ;D
-
I desperately want all-new Wicket and Logray sculpts. These are the two most needed Ewoks in the galaxy. Paploo would be cool after that.
I wonder if they'll update Teebo... Do we want them to? It's still a great figure, but is he terribly out of scale? I can't recall if he was any bigger than other Ewoks? I can't find a Databank entry for him either. Looks like they've been updating the site.
-
By comparison, he's massive at this point. Chief CHirpa was a big Ewok and he's now diminutive, and dwarfed by Teebo... As nice as Teebo is, he could use a resculpt IMO. I'm not hopeful we'll see it soon due to his figure being more recent, but Teebo is way too big.
-

Excellent point. I think the reason we've got lists that are chock full of resculpt requests is due to a few factors.
-First, so many characters have already been made into figures. We're getting to a point in the line where we're starting to run out of all new characters that have never been made into figures. I think Hasbro might be holding off to a degree just to have some characters in reserve for the future. Perhaps this mindset has unconciously made it's way into the collecting community? But if we were to start talking about Jabba's palace denizens who have yet to be made, the list of named characters with reasonable screen time is dwindling.
-Scene specific versions of characters are another factor. People want good versions of X character in Y setting. And I think to some that might translate as a resculpt.
-The improving figure aesthetic. Let's face it: a figure like the Weequay which originally came out around 1997 looks pretty crude next to a 2007 figure. Between the sculpt and the articulation, the 10 year old sculpt looks pretty bad in comparison with current offerings, and collectors want something better for certain characters. Hasbro has found a way to get us to come back for more of the same character by improving the quality of their product.
As for my own list? It's really more of a list of what I think we would get in this wave rather than what I would want if I was planning the line. Call it pragmatism winning over idealism.
-
It's debatable which figure in the SW line is truly king of the pegwarmers: Xizor or the Rancor Keeper. This would make a great thread if there has not been one like this yet.
Moff Jerjerrod, hands down. Although Xixor and the Rancor Keeper were pretty bad, I have NEVER seen a figure warm pegs as long as Jerjerrod has. To make it worse, I saw both Xixor and the Rancor Keeper on clearance for as low as a dollar each, and every WM I have been to within 100 miles of my home has between 10-30 Jerjerrods, all at full price to this day.
I really think they should have put the Rancor Keeper in the set with the Rancor itself instead of Luke, and just rerelease the Luke figure as part of the Saga Legends line. But hey, this way Jerjerrod won't be so lonely come 2009. :)
-
That would certainly have been a good selling point for the Rancor since the sculpt was so recently used for the FU version. But I didn't buy that one, and I will buy the upcoming ROTJ one. I guess they shouldn't ever include completely brand new sculpts as pack-ins.
Maybe Hasbro should make a "Legendary Pegwarmers" battle pack, to include Jerjerrod, the Rancor Keeper among others.
-
I have to throw in Saga Lobot and ROTS Neimodian guard or whatever that was called. Those rotted around here at least.
-
Nothing sucked quite like 2002 though.

Well so far...based on Q&A rumors
Return of the Jedi (Spring 2009 Wave 3?)
Luke Skywalker (Death Star II)
Princess Leia of some sort
Malakili
Ewok 2 Pack (Wicket, Paploo or Teebo to be included)
You can add Wooof to the confirmed (http://www.jedidefender.com/newspro/fullnews.cgi?newsid1219026942,61109,) list... :)
-
I'm thinking Hasbro wouldn't have the cajones to release a new Malakili in this wave and not a new Palace Klaatu in the same wave.
Quoting myself now that we have confirmation of Wooof! I knew they would do it!
-
Awesome! One more to strike off of that vintage list.
-
Add Geezum, Sim Aloo, and an Ackbar resculpt and we've got ourselves a perfect RotJ wave. :)
-
Wooof delayed until 2010!!! :'(
From Han's Hideout (http://hanshideout.blogspot.com/2008/12/hasbro-star-wars-q-session-4.html):
One note - it turns out that we will not be doing Wooof after all, and instead have made sure he's in the 2010 lineup. In his place is another Nikto guard.
-
Crap. At least were getting a Nikto guard. :-\
-
Bummer. I was looking forward to Wooof. But a new Nikto guard could be cool. Especially if it fills out one of those Kenner vintage slots.
-
That really sucks. I hope its the vintage version at least. :'(

What? >:( Seriously? >:( Unbelievable.
-
That's dumb, I was kinda excited for Wooof. But any new palace/skiff guards are definitely cool.
-
I'm still wondering if a new Nien Nunb might be in the works for this wave. Hasbro hinted at that back in March in the Q&A sessions.
-
Just looking back at past Q and A's, don't we have the following confirmed for this (8 figure) wave so far?
New Jedi Luke Skywalker
New Leia of some sort
New Ewok of some sort
New Rancor Keeper
WooofNikto
So what else do you think is on the way for this wave? I wouldn't mind seeing an all-new Nien Nunb as has been mentioned, and a new Ackbar would be sweet too. There's a lot of other resculpts I wouldn't mind seeing as well ("ultimate" Endor Soldier/Logray/Wicket/Prune Face/Ree-Yees/etc.), but there's some other all-new characters that could go in this wave as well.
-
I hope we get the Nikto that shot Luke's hand...
As for other suggestions? I doubt we get it but we need a new ultimate Endor Rebel. That's as overdue as all the other rebs to me.
-
I don't think we're likely to get a new Endor Rebel in the next year. We get the Hoth rebel in the spring. MAYBE a new Rebel Fleet Trooper in the fall or early in 2010. And perhaps a new Endor rebel in late 2010/early 2011. I think Hasbro is trying to space these out to keep the interest going.
-
Ackbar & Nien Numb are both really need resculpts. I prefer Ackbar first....
I not too jazzed about another Luke Jedi at this point, the sandstorm one really filled my void for DS Luke. However they can make him look different enough to warrant one. Here are my picks:
New Jedi Luke Skywalker (New Head/Chest with open vest)
Darth Vader Final Duel
Admiral Ackbar
Gammorean Guard
New Ewok 2pk
Slave Leia Sandstorm
New Rancor Keeper
Nikto

I agree... Plus they just futzed around not long ago with the Endor Rebel. Just thinking out loud about what I'd like but not expecting it. I'm happier actually about the Hoth and Fleet Troopers... Much worse figures to me than the Endor Trooper, though I do think the POTF2 styled one really would be a nice new figure if they whipped one up.
-
The next time they make an Endor rebel trooper, I really think it should be a resculpt of the original POTF2 version, with the full camo pattern, not the vest guys. But wouldn't it be a cooler idea if they released a new Prune Face with alternate non-eyepatch headsculpt and cloak colors? It could be like the running change to the Imperial technician or previous Endor trooper.
-
I hope we get the Nikto that shot Luke's hand...
I thought a human skiff guard shot Luke's hand? Could be wrong though.
-
Revising my projected list once again:
-Luke Skywalker - Death Star 2 duel
-Leia as Boussh - Joe Johnston Concept figure
-Malakili
-Lumat & Paploo 2-pack
-Nikto guard - Vintage Nikto
-Nien Nunb - SA, removable cap
-Geezum
-AT-ST Driver
BAF - R5 unit from Home One
BAF - R2 unit from Home One
-
I could really see them putting Yoxgit in this wave. He's been showing up on rumor lists for a long time now.
-
I remember seeing the name on some rumor lists. But 2 Ugnaughts in the space of a year? Hmmm.
-
1. Luke (DS II)
2. Concept Leia
3. Paploo & Lumat
4. At-St Driver
5. Nikto (vintage)
6. Sgt. Dollyrn
7. Kitaraba (vintage Baradas)
8. Malakili
-

Good point.
-
I'd like to see a new take on 8D8 or EV-9D9, maybe as BADs, and a Gammorean Guard
-

You're right David. I'm thinking of the Nikto that got on deck with the deck cannon actually... A human with a Lando-ish helmet shot Luke's hand and got promptly pwned!!!!1111! afterwards.
-

8D8 and EV-9D9 as B-A-Ds...that is a cool idea. I never thought of that.

It was Taym Dren-garen (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Taym_Dren-garen)
-
Yep. I was just gonna point that out.
-
Still want this guy:
-
Bummer about Wooof. I really want that figure. I was kind of ticked about Malakili being in there but it makes sense with the new Rancor coming up. A Nikto would be kind of fun though. He's just not high up on the list for me.
-
Still want this guy:
Me too.
I was just thinking though, sadly, every skiff guard made thus far, except for Pote Snitkin, could use an update.
-
Just thinking about this wave and one figure I wouldn't mind seeing eventually in a ROTJ wave is a new Spirit of Yoda. Granted, there are a number of new characters and resculpted figures I'd like to see first, but after the new Spirit of Obi in the OTC Collection and the new Spirit of Anakin in the TAC line, I wouldn't mind seeing Yoda get a new treatment as well. I suppose this would be a good candidate for a repaint wave, but it doesn't sound like we're getting one of those next year.
I thought I remembered there being a rumor at one time that one of the UBPs this year was supposed to be a Funeral Pyre/End Celebration theme with all three spirit figures and the Pyre with Vader. I think the other rumored one was ANH/Death Star themed, so that rumor seemed to be way off (I think this was at RS, if I remember correctly).
Anyways, it might be a nice figure to include at some point. Although there are still new figures to include, there's a part of me that wants a number of resculpts from this movie now as well (Ackbar, Nunb, Prune Face, "ultimate" Endor soldier, ewoks, etc.)
-
Hey Brian- I made a mini dio scene of the jedi spirits, and I'd love some resculpts of all of 'em! (I lightly painted mine with some dull colors)

I'd be all for a new Spirit Yoda based of of the VOTC Yoda followed by a Spirit of Obi-Wan based on the upcoming ANH wave sculpt and reuse the TAC Spirit Anakin robe to keep the "spirit look" consistent.
-
This is what i think ...
Concept Leia
Death star luke
At-St driver
Paploo
Sullustan
Mallakilli
Giran
Doallyn

I'm a little late noticing this, but that's a fantastic diorama! I love the walkways you built and the subtle repaints are fantastic.
-
About the unnamed Nikto guard....
I'm wondering if it might be Giran (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Giran)? His wookeepedia page lists him as a Kadas'sa'Nikto. And he's one of the Rancor keepers. I've got to wonder if Hasbro is going to get him in this wave along with Malakili as basic figure tie-ins with the Target exclusive Rancor release.
-
This rumor/retail list just popped up this morning regarding the ROTJ wave....
1. Scout Trooper (VTSC-06)
2. Luke Skywalker (Death Star 2)
3. New Slave Leia (with alternative Torso!)
4. Ewok 2pack
5. B-Wing Pilot
6. Major Panno (Pruneface Rebel-Alien)
7. Klaatu Skiff Guard (Warrior Outfit)
8. Malakili
9. Nikto Skiff Guard
It lists 9 figures, but it's entirely possible that the Scout Trooper is a Greatest Hits figure that's filling out the case.
-
Dressel Rebel ***** his pants? Oh I think so! :)
-
If this is true here is my early impression.....
1. Scout Trooper (VTSC-06) - WHATEVER
2. Luke Skywalker (Death Star 2) - OK. I am kinda of satisfied with the Legacy Luke.
3. New Slave Leia (with alternative Torso!) - Bigger boobs for the alternate top would be nice.
4. Ewok 2pack - Sweet!
5. B-Wing Pilot - Cool, but been there done that.
6. Major Panno (Pruneface Rebel-Alien) - Finally I can get rid of the POTF2 one.
7. Klaatu Skiff Guard (Warrior Outfit) - SWEETNESS!
8. Malakili - - SWEETNESS in a Yarna pegwarming way.
9. Nikto Skiff Guard - SWEETNESS!
I am very happy that this year is more OTC focused to respark my dwindling interest. I am just so Prequeled out.
-
That is an awesome wave. Lots of alien coolness there. I'd be very thrilled if this ends up being true, although I do hope we get a new Ackbar soon.
-
Dressel Rebel ***** his pants? Oh I think so! :)
I think the suicide watch can be set on hold for at least a month.
-
If that pans out it looks like there is quite a bit of OT goodness in that wave, which is never a bad thing. 2009 is looking like it is going to be a good year for OT collecting. :)
-
The wave does sound pretty good, if it holds true. There are still a number of re-dos I wouldn't mind seeing from ROTJ though - Ackbar, Nunb, and Gamorrean Guard in particular. That said, the wave does sound good to me - hopefully we'll get a look at these at Toy Fair.

I don't know about Malakili, but otherwise, great wave.
-
Sounds like an awesome wave to me. I hope it turns out to be true!
-
Looks good, hopefully we see some product at Toy Fair.
Skiff Guards are long overdue for sure.
-
I got a confirmation on this wave indirectly from a retailer. So I guess the Sullustan will be the B-Wing pilot.
-
Alternate torso? How would that work?
-
Alternate torso? How would that work?
busty and bustier :o
-
My take on the alternate torso is similar to the Dagobah Luke: 2 poses necessary to recreate the scenes. So I think one will allow her to recline somewhat. The B-Wing pilot being a Sullustan is disappointing if true; they could have single carded the human pilot and I'd have bought several. As it is, I already painted my white Sullustan red. I'm most excited about the new Prune Face- he'll be added to my briefing scene diorama.
-
I was going to say the same thing, the other torso will be for reclining Leia
(http://www.efting.com/amy/weddingpage/leia_jabba2.jpg)
-
Yeah, but then we'd have to have a proper Jabba set for it to go with. *crosses fingers*
-
Of all the POTF2 figs that need new sculpts, I wouldn't rate Prune Face and the Rancor Keeper high among them, so this is a little disappointing. And why not just do Nien Numb if you're going to do a red B Wing pilot? The Leia is interesting, as are the Ewoks and Skiff Guards. My hopes for the Ewoks are either Paploo/Wicket, or the two dudes who jacked the chicken walker. Always wanted those.
-
This wave has been confirmed in the latest Insider
Ewoks are Paploo & NoApaak
Leia does come an extra set of legs
Nikto is the Sail Barge gunner version
Ten Nunb is indeed included in his red flight suit
-
Slava Leia

Very cool, the Nikto comes with the gun. :)
-
...and Leia comes with four legs! :D
-
Alternate torso? How would that work?
busty and bustier :o
I liked Jay's idea better... ;)
-
So Nikto sports the deck gun that snapped onto the railing, eh? Wonder if we're going to have something to snap that onto? ;)
-
What exactly does "insert molded knee" and "insert molded ankle" mean? Does that mean no articulation?
-

Ball joint

It can probably be mounted to the Skiff's front and/or back rails.
-
I'm EXTREMELY happy about the Nikto; even though he comes with the deck rail gun (which was used by the yellow padded vest Nikto that we got back in the POTF2 cinema scene) it appears that this one is actually the sculpt of the never-before-made Nysad pictured here:
-
Ok I want both of these figures, now show us the other ones you havent Hasbro.
-
I like most of the wave mentioned. I really do not understand Hasbro's passion for Ten Nunb though. He must sell well I guess. Yeah, Nikto looks good with the rail gun. Gotta like that!
-
The looks at this wave so far look pretty promising. Hopefully we'll get a look at the full/finished lineup at Toy Fair.
-
I really do not understand Hasbro's passion for Ten Nunb though.
Same here, but I can only guess that in this case that the passion had more to do with their passion for easy profit if this turns out to be a simple re-paint.
-
Great expectative for new Malakili, this toy should come with removable hood, tunic over waist, vibro blade, and a chain to pull the rancor, like gentle giant statue.
Action figures are evolving, hope this Malikili wonīt be shorter and smaller than potf2 one.
-

I think he should be smaller and about the same height as the recent TAC Jedi Knight Luke. That the POTF2 version of Malikili one seemed oversized to me.
-
At Toy Fair it was confirmed that this wave has been bumped back... sounds like it will now be Wave 10.
-
At Toy Fair it was confirmed that this wave has been bumped back... sounds like it will now be Wave 10.
That's disappointing to hear, I was really looking forward to that wave. Is the TPM wave getting bumped forward then, since we're getting a look at those figures at Toy Fair?
-
They must be waiting to finish up all the extra details on the Sail Barge and Jabba. :-*
-
Indications that I got were that the ROTJ wave was going to be pushed back beyond the line/packaging reset. ROTJ could potentially be one of the first waves of the new Droid Factory series in the new packaging.
-
By the looks of things, TPM (wave 8) should kick off the packaging refresh.
-

I donno. I saw the carded Obi-Wan picture too, but they said the new packaging will debut in the fall. Will we only get two waves between now and then?
-
If people haven't seen it yet, here's a picture of the upcoming Nikto Barge guard (http://www.galactichunter.com/photo.asp?image=absolutenm/articlefiles/7901-skiffguardwm.png)
-
It really does look cool. I'm really looking forward to adding this Nikto to my skiff guards. I just wish we'd been able to see the Death Star 2 Luke image that GH was trying to get.
-
That's just gorgeous. The paint apps and sculpting detail on the cannon itself are wonderful.
-
Sandtroopers (http://www.sandtroopers.com/smf/index.php?topic=11691.msg239431#msg239431) has a pic up of the upcoming new Slave Princess Leia from this wave, with both sets of legs.
-
Nice to finally see something from this wave other than Nysad. I'm really surprised Hasbro has been able to keep this wave under wraps for so long.
-
Slave Leia looks great :) I will probably get 2. I think I prefer the POTJ version still.
-
Nice! I love it when Hasbro makes the most of a figure.

pics of leia
-
Brian already linked it JP.
She looks nicely articulated... The hips look a little odd, but given the design of the character, I'm pleased with how it turned out. It's nice to have an articulated bikini Leia since she wasn't lazing around all the time. :) The swappable posed legs are another "borrowed" idea from the 1:18 military figures... The last couple waves included pre-posed legs for kneeling or sitting positions. It's a neat idea, but not something I'm keen on for all figures. It works well for Leia though, and her awkward lounging pose with Jabba.
-
I am loving this figure. Count me in for many as this figure will be great for customs. Time to ditch my POTJ one.....
-
Nice job on Leia Slave, hope to see new pics with her robe and chain. In an exigent line it would be a must the vibro axe staff.
-
Looks good. With the two sets of legs, I smell a packaging variation.
-
From the latest round of Q&A over at Yoda's News (http://www.yodasnews.com/):
-
Cool. However, I like the question about the head ball joints.
-
Awesome ewoks there, can never have enough of those guys.
Collectors who don't like ewoks are the same people who kick puppies.
-
The new slave Leia looks good. I can't wait to see more pics of the production figure with her accessories.
-
The new slave Leia looks good. I can't wait to see more pics of the production figure with her accessories.
It's a good thing the OoC thread is closed. ;D Nice looks on the Ewok!
-
i love me some Ewok 2-pack goodness. That may be the best set of the wave, and a great army builder. :)
-
;D Awesome. I don't know who the other ewok is, but they are both awesome. I wish they would have done Lumat in this group. I wondering when they are going to get to wicket/logray/Lumat and ewoks who jacked the At-St.
-
The Ewoks look good. I'm still a little disappointed that they've gone generic with using the same body over and over again, but if it helps us get more ewoks and they can make them different enough through their accessories, I guess I'm for it.
-
When you think about it, they were pretty generic looking in the movie though. Some height differences, but otherwise only a few "stood out". Logray, Teebo, Wicket, and Chief Chirpa had slightly different builds, but the randoms like Lumat, Paploo, etc., all basically looked the same.
I'm especially ok with it for the more obscure ones like that new one with the pitch fork weapon.
-
I'll buy as many Ewoks using that body as they care to make.
Since they're not likely to top the last removable-helmet Vader any time soon, I'd like to see Emperor's Wrath Vader re-done with the VOTC sculpt. Also, a resculpted hand to hold the staff properly would turn the ROTS Royal Guard into an ideal ROTJ Royal Guard.
The A-Wing Fighter and the Evolutions set with Ten Numb and the B-Wing Pilot are almost singlehandedly responsible for rekindling my interest in Star Wars figures. There are just so many characters from Home One and the second Death Star that need to be made or re-made. Sometimes I wonder if the battle above Endor and the search for Shmi Skywalker hold such a mystique for me just because Hasbro hardly ever makes figures representing them (though on both counts they've done an outstanding job catching up this year).
Given the number of figures already announced for this wave, I think I'll continue to toss and turn at night awaiting Mon Mothma, Nien Nunb, Sim Aloo, a Y-Wing Pilot, Ackbar, Ackbar painted brown wearing a hat (AKA Mon Calamari Officers), the spirits of Yoda and Sebastian Shaw and the Emperor's Throne.

sneak peek - Slave Leia, DS2 Luke, Malakili, and a skiff dude (no idea what his "name" is).
-
His name's Giran (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Giran).
-
This wave is looking pretty neat. I'm exicted to have the opportunity to get some skiff guards. The Sarlaac needs some food. :P Rancor keeper seems like an odd basic figure choice. If he's not a chase figure or something similar Hasbro might just have a pegwarmer worse than Yarna.
-
I'm diggin' Maliki's chest hair...but not in that way.
There's a DS2 Luke up there, over to the right, behind the Utapi guys.
-
DS2 Luke's got the flap open on his tunic. That's a surprise.
-
As long as his head fits on the 2008 Sandstorm Luke, I think that is OK
-
Rancor keeper is going to be the second coming of the POTF2 days of peg warmers. He may beat Yarna. Do not get me wrong He looks great, I am buying him as I ditched my old one a few months ago when Hasbro Confirmed him. But he should have been packed with the Rancor. I like the Luke, you can tell he is an assembled paint master so I am sure he will tighter in production.
-
This is probably the best wave of figures in a long time. I'll gladly pick up one of each. Prune Face and the Skiff Guards have me super excited!
-
Yeah, this wave looks pretty sweet overall. I'm looking forward to some better looks at the Luke, but hopefully it ends up being the one we've all been waiting for. Although it might be a pegwarmer once again, that Rancor Keeper does look spiffy. It really is amazing what improvements can be made compared to the POTF2 versions these days. It makes me look forward to seeing the Gam. Guard on the way in 2010. Anyways, back to this wave, it looks really great. Actually, everything we have seen looks nice, should be a fun (and expensive) rest of 2009.
-
(http://www.jeditemplearchives.com/news/images2009b/ComicConHasbro1.jpg)
If you look to the left, at the Jedi Luke figure, there's a little black square on his stand...I think we can open or close his flap!

The Nikto Gunner (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2499/3747027581_b478258b1c.jpg?v=0) is quite awesome I think.
-
I concur, he's quite cool looking and I love that the cannon is attachable (to a yet non-existent Sail Barge)
-
I concur, he's quite cool looking and I love that the cannon is attachable (to a yet non-existent Sail Barge)
It should attach to the skiff's railing in the meantime. :P
-
I'd take even a chunk of the barge just to attach it to, as like an elaborate stand.
I love the Green dude, I love the Nikto... I love the Leia (articulated, yay!), I love the Sullustant Pilot...
I really, truly, dig the Dresellian Commando though. Where's Dressel_Rebel at? He's gotta love that as much as I do. I've wanted him updated for eons. :) He's a real surprise. I'm wondering how long Orrimarko's head variant/redeco on this body is though. We're bound to get that too I think.
Oh, and Malikili is a very worthy update... I'm sort of surprised, but this guy's got repegwarmer all over him I'm afraid. I'll buy him happily to go with the new Rancor though. Nice update, though I wasn't clamoring for him at all.
-

Present.
And I love me some of that dresselian, of course. Definitely going to go ape on that one. I haven't seen a really clear picture yet, but his cloak looks soft-goods-ish to me. Can't really tell for sure. I also want to see a closeup of his slug-firing weapon, Dresselians don't use lasers except for the ones they pick up from the stormies they bump off.
-
Here's a good one (http://www.galactichunter.com/absoluteig/gallery.asp?action=viewimage&categoryid=6085&text=&imageid=34113&box=&shownew=) from Galactic Hunter.

Anyone think that "Nien" Numb might have removable gear and a vest thrown in?

I don't know. The flight vest looks molded on (http://www.galactichunter.com/absoluteig/gallery.asp?action=viewimage&imageid=34114&text=&categoryid=6085&box=&shownew=) to me.
-
I think he's just a repaint of the Evolutions figure.
-
Awesome wave! I'm in for 1 of each and an extra Leia for the variant legs.
Kudos Hasbro!
-

Did he even fly a B-wing in the movies?
No...I had a dream last night that the flight gear came off and he had a vest included was how the figure was made. I think they answered somewhere why they did this this way but I am too lazy to look.

It thought that the guy in the briefing is supposed to be a different Sullustan entirely? I think someone mad a mistake on the name plate.
-
In my imagination-EU, Nien was all suited up and ready to get in his B-Wing when Lando strolled over and said, "Hey - my pal Han is gonna let me take the Falcon... you wanna ride with me?"
To which, Nien uttered his trademark giggle-garble talk and said, "Let's roll, Dude!" He ditched the B-Wing gear, put on his best co-pilot vest and hat and that's that.
-
(http://porkins.home.insightbb.com/Rebel/Pilots/sbwing.JPG)
Notice the head gear...same as Nien's...I tell you a removable flight gear and vest is all this baby needs for ultimaticity
-
Maybe Lando needed a co-pilot for the Falcon and had to ask around after the briefing was over. Then good old Nien said sure why not.
-
Major Panno is the hit of the wave for me, among many fantastic figures. The two Jabba aliens are close, though!
-
Here is a better shot of Nunb (whoever he is)
-
He's actually "Nutz Numb", which everyone in the starfleet makes fun of him because his name in the phone book is, "Numb, Nutz" and it pisses him off.
Sadly, he died at Endor. The laughing finally stopped.

That's funny. Thanks for the laugh!
-
Unless there is something going on with the light, they still look like two different Sullustan masks to me. Nien Numb has a darker color to his skin and his eyes and mouth are both a little more closed. And the lips look different. I'll happily take this figures as an accurate Red Sullustan B-Winger, and leave it at that. Hopefully we'll get a resculpt Nien Numb at some point.
-
I think I read somewhere that, Nien Nunb was B-Wing Pilot supose to be filmed in the cockpit of the b-wing fighter in DS2 Battle, Like Wedge, Green Leader etc. was supose to have a call sign but Lucas wanted Lando to have a co-pilot, so they used Nien Nunb and took the gear off and put a extra Han vest on. and now he have Nien Nunb we know today.

Hasbro confirmed this theory in the presentation
-
Another great wave. I'm really disappointed in the lack of Woof figure, but with the current contents, I'll overlook it.
-
Man...I see tons of people complaining about DSII Luke...really?
I really think it is one of the best Hamill likenesses yet...it is super articulated...and has some neat accessories (with a removable flap). Not sure what all the bellyaching is about
-
I think there's something goofy about it. I think it's the broadness of the shoulders / the size of the arms.
What I'd really like to see is one with a nice cloak, soft goods, with a wire in it... one that looks like he did when he first strolled into Jabba's palace.
-
I like the shoulders only because every image of Luke I've seen has him pretty broad shouldered looking due to the outfit's snugness. It was pretty form-fitting IIRC.
I don't think the head is perfect, but I think it's very good. I blame most "issues" I have with it on the paintjob, which is a hand-painted proto anyway, so no worries. The factor figure will most likely look different by a bit. Hopefully different better.
The sculpt I'm perfectly fine with though. I liked that figure when it was released with the softgoods robes on it. I agree with Rob, I'd like to see him come with a softgoods outer cloak someday, along with the under robes, so we had a good Jabba's Palace Luke too that was complete with maybe two hands, perhaps three.
Likewise I'd enjoy seeing him redone then as Endor Luke...
This figure seems very good for DS2 Luke though. I'm quite pleased. Love that he has the binders for pop to force-undo for him too. Nice touch.
-
Love that he has the binders for pop to force-undo for him too.
? I thought The Emperor motioned and unlatched them from his throne.
-
Whoops, you're right. I wasn't thinking right on that. Same difference... I liked the "show of power" even if I can't recall who did it. :-X
-
After looking at the various photos out there for the DS Luke, I'm beginning to wonder what are we actually getting? In the SDCC display, Hasbro showed the figure with the binders and the alternate chest flap at his feet. The presentation photo shows him with the binders and now a lightsaber, but no extra chest flap. Finally, the poster (http://www.jedidefender.com/gallery/imageFolio.cgi?action=view&link=Conventions/San_Diego_Comic_Con_2009/Hasbro/2009_Presentation&image=21.jpg&img=16&tt=) shows him with the binders, no lightsaber and what looks like the soft good portion of his tunic most notably below his waist and to some extent around his neck. So, I'm back to the original question - what are we actually getting?
-
Well, looks like my answer has come to the above question as JediInsider posted (http://jediinsider.com/index.php?catid=8&itemid=12052) carded shots of this wave. So, I guess this next question is why the hell did they choose the ANH portrait to use on the card back? Seems like a odd/bad choice considering the figure.
-

I have to respectfully disagree with ya, JJ- I thought he was quite narrow-shouldered throughout. I like this concept figure drawing Cramer from RS doodled based on a film image:

Got to agree with Rob on this one. The ball jointed chest is what's throwing this figure off. In order to accommodate for that joint and the arm joints it bulked him up. I am not a fan of that joint on Star Wars figures, it limit there use for customs and sometimes, with this being one of them, messed the aesthetics up.

It thought that the guy in the briefing is supposed to be a different Sullustan entirely? I think someone mad a mistake on the name plate.
Many moons ago I was told that the white-suited pilot Sullustian is a prototype costume, not used in the movie, and the red one was the real movie version of Ten Numb. White Ten was in the Chronicles book and made it into the toy line and comics... so now it's the "real" one.
Apparently someone changed their minds along the way.
-
I've taken a good, long break from all this junk and it's really been nice. I'm starting to see a bit too much stuff that I'm gonna want... :-\
This wave looks pretty damn hot. I'm especially looking forward to the Ewoks, though. I've had a real bug up my ass for them since Chirpa came out. Can't wait to get these ones! I'm liking NoApaak as a possible mother for Nippet.... :)

There's plenty of lubes for it, too.
-
The Slave Leia, Ewoks, and Jedi Luke Skywalker figures are the figures I'm looking forward to the most.
-
The packaged shot of Nysad shows the paint apps have taken a hit.
Giran looks stunning.
Major Panno looks fun.
OBviously Luke could be much improved...but i must build R3 01,so no pass.
-
This figure seems very good for DS2 Luke though. I'm quite pleased. Love that he has the binders for pop to force-undo for him too. Nice touch.
It's a nice figure, without a doubt. But the removable chest piece is kinda pushing it. It does make sense why Hasbro would do this, without it, they would have most likely have to make a completely new figure. But it's good, and we collectors can finally get our hands on a new DS II Luke. Ever since that pathetic "Saga" caveman version...
The Slave Leia is also quite impressive. Very nice, Hasbro.
However, this wave seems more collector-oriented. Kids most likely don't know who's half the characters in this wave. Heck, neither do I!
-
Surprised Hasbro can't go the line of variants for DS Luke, Black tunic and open tunic, like they have for the Hoth Trooper or Ugnaughts... though I suppose it's just like Slave Leia.
-

Actually, that might have been the best way to go for Hasbro. But, however, opting for an alternate release might have gotten collectors mad. It's one of those "just different enough to get you mad" purchases.
-
Hasbro's experimenting with the Luke. I like that, but maybe not the best choice of figures given this one's expectations. We'll just have to see how the swappable part looks aesthetically.
-
Some very detailed images of Slave Leia turned up in our mailbox today...

This, to me, may be one of Hasbro's best figures ever IMO. Taking a page from the last waves of military figures out there, they came up with including a set of pre-posed limbs as an accessory. 21st Cent. Toys put those in with their last waves of figures so they could sit prone and things, and it really was an innovative way to help collectors display their stuff.
It's certainly incentive for me to buy this figure twice. Shrewd Hasbro, shrewd!
-
Why the inclusion of the cup? Hasbro's been very stingy lately on extras so I would have thought the molded legs with pillow and stick would have been plenty. Not complaining though. Looks nice, but the gaps in her waist line looks very funky in the "real" action figure version.
-
I think they meant all along to just make the reclining version, but knew it would be unpopular as an imposable statue. They thought out of the box and came up with an interesting idea on how to give a poseable figure and a pre-posed one at the same time.
-
This isn't unprecedented. We saw this back in the OTC line, when Hasbro offered Dagobah Luke with the handstand arms & head as well as the backpack arms and head.
As for the cup, that belongs to Jabba. I watched ROTJ the other night, and he's holding in the Sail Barge scenes.
-
The dual posing is cool, but at the sacrifice of the sculpt? That's the worst likeness since the POTF2 Leia, IMO, which as we all know is really saying something.
-
I have no problems with the likeness, but those arms, wow... I'd be afraid of her in a dark alley! In this case (and perhaps in any bare arms character) I would have rathered swivel-cut elbows and swivel shoulders.
-
I think we saw Hasbro, at the time of the OTC line, mimicing (again) 21st's line, to acheive the versatility needed for the two iconic poses (since super articulation was still a rarity)... At the time 21st Cent. Toys included two sets of arms only. Hasbro was JUST starting to adopt the new methods for manufacturing figures so that they would actually be capable of doing the removable limb thing, easily, at that time. It was still actually fairly uncommon in the line to have a torso even capable of that.
Now flash forward the latter waves of the military line, and they took their idea to a new level by adding legs for figures that benefited from prone poses due to their accessories or intent (artillery, MG teams, etc.), and a new lower body design overall with the latter couple waves produced. And again Hasbro uses the same idea/designs to great extent by knocking out Leia's probably most iconic "lounging" pose which is pretty tough to acheive with articulation, but still giving fans that extra articulated set of legs so they make that "definitive" Leia (3rd time's the charm I guess). It's a first figure and I'm curious if it'll lead to any others. Luke didn't really give way to others.
I love it, and to me it's miles superior to the Dagobah Luke. Luke looked good but was ultimately still a statue (definitely a figure I'd like to see delivered with super articulation) any way you sliced it. Leia delivers both styles. For me this is what I always asked for from the 2002-ish era, with the extreme posing... Having both "styles" makes me actually appreciate my old 2002 Jedi a little bit more than I did in 2002. Now that I know I've got a suitable Luminara Unduli for all seasons, for instance, my 2002 figure doesn't look quite so bad... Almost a little artistic looking.
On the likeness, I liked it too, actually. :-[ The POTJ Deluxe is nice, but I think this looks superior to me... I'm probably more forgiving on human likeness issues though, so I tend to overlook them if they're not too bad. I liked VTSC Luke Bespin for instance. Didn't care for the deco, but I thought the sculpt was there and just needed a better skin tone (like Ceremony Luke as well).
-
I think the ball joint elbows and shoulders look OK, I'll always take them over swivel cut joints -- I can't stand the way they fall apart.
The face sculpt is pretty decent, but could still be better. Compare to the POTJ/OTC version:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v687/JesseVader08/LegacySlaveLeiaFace.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v687/JesseVader08/OTCslaveLeiaFace.jpg)
-
POTJ is way more accurate. And not just in the face sculpt. If I saw just the heads, I would never assume the newer sculpt was supposed to be Carrie Fisher. POTJ pulls it of, I think, despite it being slightly more cartoonish. The new one is a good sculpt as far as a human likeness, but not very accurate as far as a Carrie Fisher likeness. But maybe that's just me....
-
It's not just you.
While I really love the new Slave Leia I have to agree the POTJ sculpt looks more like Carrie. Another fine testament to the POTJ line. I wrote about that line in one of Brian's thread. It set the bar in terns of quality. While the articulation is limited just take a look at Tessek, he still looks great.
Hasbro also gave Leia a boob job with the new sculpt.......
I definitely will buy a few to make some custom Slave Girls including Mara Jade.
-
Hasbro also gave Leia a boob job with the new sculpt.......
That's what I was hinting at. Couldn't agree more about the POTJ line. Still my favorite, minus the silly fact files.
-
Yeah, but a certain person doesn't like A-size cup female action figures. ;) :-*

We've got a gallery of faces that, for the most part, only a mother could love (and some would debate Luke and Leia qualify for that slam as well). A pretty complete set of loose images of the Return of the Jedi wave awaits you! Now... I can't speak for Dressel Rebel. But I plan on stocking up on Dressellian's for sure. My Major Panno is about to turn into a lot of grunts from his species. He's probably my favorite of the wave. Love Rebel Soldiers, and he's a really ideal one. I'm giving him "figure-of-the-wave" status. :D
What's really nice is I find this wave's two BAD's to be quite nice, especially the R5. Very spiffy.

Dude. You can. :D
Put me down for 20-30.
I've got about 25 customized already, and those numbers are about to swell. Only slug-firing weapons for these guys too, shotguns, AK-47's, M-16's, rocket launchers, stingers, land mines. Mmmmm, glocks.

Really another nice wave overall, definitely looking forward to it. There doesn't seem to be a stinker in the bunch, and it is nice to get those very well done versions of Luke and Leia. Some of the figures that might tend to be overlooked in a wave liked this, like the already mentioned Major Panno - as well as the Jabba goons - might be the best ones of the wave. Really like the looks of all of these.
-
I was only planning on picking up a single Panno but after seeing the loose pic, along with Dressel's pics, I want several. I also want a crapload of Nikto Gunners. I'm only planning on getting one Giran for now because I can't tell if he has any articulated legs or ankles. The only stinker of the wave appears to be Nein Numb, only because he's an uninspired kitbash.
This will be an expensive wave...
-
Alright, I'm beginning to get on board with the Luke neigh-sayers. Other than that, this is going to be a great wave.
-
I'm kinda leaning negatively with Luke, but not enough that I'd clamor for a resculpt (not yet anyway). I like it... Or at least I like it enough to be content with him for now. Would I take a new one down the road? Probably, but I like the removable chest thing, I think this figure's innovative... I think the skin tone looks odd, but it's better than Ceremony Luke's sickly coloring.
I dunno. I'm easier to please with human likenesses... They're tough sculpts to get right. I think Hasbro was cutting some corners with the arms and things, but I'm pleased with it. It'll do where I currently have NOTHING that will "do" on that spot on the shelf.
I like NEIN NUMMMMMB too! :)
Sorry, that was for my own amusement.
-
Wow, what a great wave of figures. I ordered x3 Leias from another seller but i am really tempted to buy some of these. I have x2 cases on preorder from BBTS but they have not even gotten the TPM wave in yet. As I said in other threads I will be shocked if Hasbro can get all of these waves out before years end.
I will be picking up a few Girans, Niktos and Prunies to make customs.
Like many others I found the Luke odd from the get go. The articulated torso is what is making this figure look off. Some of the added articulation in recent figures (Ball jointed hip and waists) hurt the figure more than they help. It also limits their custom potential. The AOTC Obi-Wan looks a bit frumpy because of the ball jointed hips and it's too moves too tight/ in an indexed fashion. I am not a fan and really do not want to see that kind of articulation become common. I am very happy the new TPM Obi Wan does not have ball jointed hips. The Luke head sculpt looks good so that is a plus.
-
The AOTC Obi-Wan looks a but frumpy because of the ball jointed hips and it's too moves too tight/ in an ndexed fashion.
Gotta agree with you ... Obi-Wan's shoulders, elbows, and hips are all WAY too hard to move! >:(

I like NEIN NUMMMMMB too! :)
Sorry, that was for my own amusement.
:D
Mine too.

Received a few of these loose of Ebay today. Giran and Nikto are spectacular, was surprised to see knee joints on Giran, although the sculpt leaves them a little superfluous. Major Panno is pretty solid too, just wish he had been given a holster and somewhere to put the comlink. Leia is a little disappointing, especially the paint apps on the separate torso. Very sloppy work there. Wish I had pics to share, but if you guys have questions, let us know :) Didn't get the others from this ave, just these 4.
-
I just got x3 Leias and the paint varied. I have enough to make one perfect. I think they hit this one out of the ballpark! Glad to hear Giran has knee joints, I was getting worried because it was hard to tell.
-
Do all these things go to the same factory? The paint on Giran is superb.

His attachment is in that square panel on his crotch. The Hasbro toy lacks it. Making him similar to a Ken doll.

I love 'em too, but I wish they'd crank out more of the background OT ones.

I don't mind them so much, but four in a row? ??? How 'bout E-3PO?
-
I just got notified my two cases are in stock. I just checked the site, low and behold they have them in right now including full cases. As some of us worried all of these are coming at once. My Paypal accounts just got it's ass beat this week:
TPM Wave Case of 12
Gungans x5
Ambush on Vultures Claw BP
Target Geo Packs from Amazon (x17 packs)
MOTU Classics Webstor x3
ROTJ Wave Case of 12 x2
FYI - I will be selling/Trading some extras when everything arrives next week. Check my trad list next week. FYI2 - I will determine which guys I am getting rid of after I review them, I have no idea at this point. I am in overload right now.
-
I just got notice that my set is in stock (or, in my "Pile of Loot") at BBTS as well. Excited to get this wave, but the credit card is going to be fun this month with both the TPM and ROTJ waves on there (as well as a handful of DCUC figures). It is nice to see some new TLC figures finally, but this whole 40 figures in 3-4 months (plus exclusives) is getting old from the budgeting point of view.
-

Amen to that. While I have saved cash for all this stuff this week has been so brutal. Do not get me wrong I want to buy it but wish it was spread out so I can enjoy it. Most of this stuff will not get the attention with the glut pile. I really hope next year is not like this.
Could this be a Q&A type question?
-
I got my cases last night and cracked them open so here is a quick review:
Luke: Much better than expected. The head sculpt is really nice as is the articulation. If the legs were further apart it would allow for much better posing. They also painted the saber differently to better reflect Luke's (It's ROTS Obi-Wans repainted). Chest plate swap is also integrated well.
Ewoks: Superb as always. New heads, weapons and hoods. You can easily retire your POTJ Paploo. The new one is very reminiscent of the vintage and more accurate to the movie.
Slave Leia: Home run, this figure is great! While to some the articulation may look weird to some, they balanced it out by making her more busty and curvy. While the POTJ one still looks good and more real this one is about as good as it gets to have your cake and eat it too.
Nikto: A really long overdue character and worth the wait. My only complaints are the hood falls off too easily, the gun is too small and the skin color is on the darker side. I really dig him none the less and he is not lacking in articulation. Sailbarge canon is really cool, hopefully one day it will have a home.
Rancor Keeper: For an old school pegwarmer this figure sure makes up for the past sins of the old one. He is fat, dirty and super articulated. Likeness is dead on and he will make a fine companion to the Target Rancor. Superb detailing too.
Klaatu - A perfect companion for a fat slob to cry one. Like Nikto his hood comes off easily but is very well done. The biggest flay are the knees as they do not have enough room to properly move even though they are articulated. Neverthe less he is a perfect addition to Jabba's Ranks.
Nien Nunb: A perfectly fine repaint with a much darker tone to the red flight suit. I wish they would be more consistent with this because the X-Wing pilots & greay imp officers suffer from this same problem. He is much pinker than Ten Nunb.
Pruneface: I was never a big fan of these ET wannabes but the figure is really nice. The cloak material looks really good and should be a preview for General Lando's eventual upgrade. I got rid of my POTF2 version with the pirate patch but you can see this guy has a good chance to be reused to make another Dressillian. The only real flaw I see is the paint wipe on the paints, it's a little sloppy.
The two new astromech droids are nice, I like the Dexter Diner one better.
For the exception of the Scouttrooper The rest of the case are repacks that have nothing to do with ROTJ. I get the fact they want more variety but one repack choice is very redundant - Jango Fett. He was just rereleased in the AOTC wave and you will get him again in the Target pack so stuffing him this case seems like real overkill. EP2 Obi-Wan makes some sense as he was short lived. FYI - They updated his saber with the flare.
I found this wave more enjoyable than the TPM wave as it had more characters with key upgrades to old ones.
-
I got my cases last night and cracked them open so here is a quick review:
You nailed it. I was surprised that the little stick thing with Major Panno fits right into the little sleeve thing on his cloak (really nice work) and that Luke's torso actually looks worse in pictures than in person. Giran rocks my socks. Like, this is a new level of greatness, Hasbro typically does its ROTJ aliens very well and this is no exception.
ALSO! The revision case has the new Ugnaught in it-- I got mine from Entertainment Earth (as I work there) tonight. It's pretty good, the legs are somewhat spindly without the apron covering them in part but I do still like it and I hope they ship more of them in the future. As one probably won't cut it. Same basic accessories as the first.
Really, really nice work on Hasbro's part. I wish R3-M3's dome was less frosty, but hey, it's R3-O1 to me and I'm happy to have it.

Scored these at TRU last night.

They only had one case, and it was a bit of a hassle to get them to sell them to me because they weren't in their computer system yet. But in the end, got them for Buy 2 Get 1 Free. Pure awesomeness.
-
Once again, I'll beg. If anyone is buying extras, I'd love to take the BAD parts off your hands.
-
Nice score Chewie! It'd be nice to rake those in during their sale. My TRU has dozens of empty pegs, but there's a never ending supply of Commander Ponds at any given time.
-
Thanks guys... you know when you figure in the B.A.D. figures, and two Ewoks, this wave cost me around $4.50 per figure. Really lucked out with these. The Leia is amazing as already known, as are both of Jabba's henchman... hell, the Rancor Keeper is great too. Luke has his good and bad points with that weird torso, and the Sullustan (I consider him a generic one) is ok, just too tall for that species.
I'm just amazed by this wave though - the one letdown is Major Panno for me. He's not bad, but it feels like they didn't detail his head sculpt all that much (sorry Dressel).
The droids are really nice for being repainted existing astromechs:

I too scored this wave today at my local TRU and got the store deal. 6 figures + 3 free + $5 Clone Cash = $46.50 ;)
-
I've been thinking about this wave for a while now and its really cool and all...but man they just missed the mark on who they put in.
Havind kept and done the wishlists for years now the following are consitently in or near the top 10
Kithaba
Vintage Nikto
Wooof
Nien Nunb
Instead they gave us Giran, the Barge Nikto, B-Wing Nunb and the Rancor Keeper who nobody asked for. So instead of what we got...what if it was:
Wooof
Kithaba
Vintage Nikto
Nien Nunb
DSII Luke
Slave Leia
Paploo and WICKET
Major Panno
I'm all for obscurity but I'd rather have well known or vintage update obscure over what this wave had. Sour grapes I know because they all look amazing and I can't wait to crack open my case tonight :P
-
Scott, to a large degree I am with you. A lot of upcoming figures are very WTF? (AT-AT Driver as you mentioned Rancor Keeper, ESB Green EE Astromech redo)
While I am happy to see upgrades out side of the not at all needed AT-AT Driver the choices are a bit puzzling. I figured we would have got Ackbar, MF Pilot Nunb, Yakface, Gammoreaon Guard before we got a dirty fat slob with a fetish for an ugly beast. Vintage Nikto and Wooof are high on my wants list but I am sure we will see a few next year. Nevertheless this is truly a great wave with a lot of new figures when compared to the TPM wave. My hope for the next ROTJ wave is:
Admiral Ackbar
The Emperor (New head and ne thicker material for cloak)
Royal Guard (Darker red and improved soft goods.
Gammorean Guard
Skiff Master Weequay
Woof
Wicket & Logray Resculpts
Leia Ewok dress resculpt

The droids are really nice for being repainted existing astromechs:
To pick a nit, R3-M3's torso is retooled around the... er... neck? Brains? Whatever the little bits and pieces are around the top, I'm pretty sure those are modified just slightly. I haven't looked closely at the dome versus previous domes yet...
And Giran remains impressive after the new-figure-high.
-
I haven't looked closely at the dome versus previous domes yet...
Do you usually make it a habit to study & compare different domes?

Do you usually make it a habit to study & compare different domes?
That depends. Would it be more or less disturbing if my answer was yes?

The head sculpt for R3-M3 is similar in design to the domes first used on R2-A2 from the Toys"R"Us exclusive "The Battle of Hoth" multipack and two of the clear domed astromechs (R4-A22 (http://www.yakface.com/TGuide2004/ActionFigures/tsc/multipacks/01/head.html) and R4-E1 (http://www.yakface.com/TGuide2004/ActionFigures/tsc/multipacks/02/head.html)) from Entertainment Earth's Exclusive Astromech Droid Pack Series I (http://www.yakface.com/TGuide2004/html/tsc/multipacks/01.html) and Series II (http://www.yakface.com/TGuide2004/html/tsc/multipacks/01.html).

Just a heads up for anyone interested, but this wave is now in stock over at HTS.

Just a heads up for anyone interested, but this wave is now in stock over at HTS.
Thanks for the heads up, I just ordered the wave plus Rum Sleg, and using the code SW2009 the total order came out to the same price had I bought the figures at retail.
-
Just scored all of this wave minus Nein Nunb (not in stock) at Hasbro Toy Shop. Also, the coupon codes (SW2009, SW2010) would not apply.
-
Also, the coupon codes (SW2009, SW2010) would not apply.
Just a reminder that both of those codes are "1-per-account" use. If you've used them in the past, you can't use them again... unless of course you set up a new account with a different e-mail address. ;)
-
I tried SW2010 just for practice (did not actually order) and it rang up with a discount. ;)
-
I'll sit and wait it out until retail. I have been biten in the ass one too many times with HTS asinine shipping dept. Wrong figures. Never receiving figures. Cancelled orders. The list goes on...
-
I ordered the entire wave an hour or so ago so no hunting for me until the WM exclusives hit.
I'll sit and wait it out until retail. I have been biten in the ass one too many times with HTS asinine shipping dept. Wrong figures. Never receiving figures. Cancelled orders. The list goes on...
Wow. I've never had any problems with them - outside of Comicon issues and the whole FedEx/USPS shipping thing which can be a headache.
-
Yeah been through more than few issues that I just can't get myself to order from thtem anymore.
Back during TAC I ordered a few Starkiller Hero figures with a few other figures as part of the order... I got one Starkiller and until this day no refund, replacement figures sent, nothing. Let alone other issues I have had to go through with them.
-
I had them ship me the wrong figure a few years back. Pretty irritating, but they took it back at no extra cost. Just meant that I had to get that one figure elsewhere.
-
I got a chance to open these up and check them out a bit this week, and I think it really is a well-done wave. I do sort of agree with what Scott was mentioned earlier, as this was a little bit of a missed opportunity to finish off some vintage figures, or take care of some much asked-for re-dos. That said, I can't say I don't like a single figure in this wave. I am still hoping we get a "regular" Nien Nunb at some point though, as this one doesn't seem quite right to me. Other than that, a very nice wave of figures. As much as I was looking forward to the Luke (which is pretty nice), I'm really impressed with the Nikto/Giran and Ewok figures. All very nicely done, and some of my favorites of the year. I didn't think I'd care that much about the Giran figure, but it really is spiffy. The ewoks are great too, and really makes me hope they get to a re-do of Wicket (as well as Logray and possibly Teebo) sooner rather than later. I was surprised with how much smaller the new Rancor Keeper is compared to the POTF2 version, but it is a big improvement. I can't wait to see how much Hasbro improves on something like the Gamorrean Guard next year.
-
Alright... where do you guys order cases from?
-
ROTJ wave in-stock at EE (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HS87535J&id=HA-80730158e)
-
Thanks... I checked them and BBTS out earlier... Unfortunately I think I'm going to pass since I only need 8 figures out of the 12. If Hasbro ever goes back to case assortments that are all new or 2 of each of 6 new ones (so I can split with someone) I guess I'll stick to finding these the old fashion way.
-
I think I'm going to pass since I only need 8 figures out of the 12.
Then wait for the Wave 9 revision case (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HS87535J1&id=HA-80730158e). It has the RotJ wave plus the new variant Ugnaught. That would get you up to 9 out of 12. ;)

Driving around Dallas? Well let me know when you are back in town.
-
Driving around Dallas? Well let me know when you are back in town.
Driving around Chicago... which isn't easy to do. :-\
In most ways, I love getting around without a car... but it's definitely not conducive to finding new Star Wars stuff.
-
I am still hoping we get a "regular" Nien Nunb at some point though, as this one doesn't seem quite right to me.
Yeah I don't even really consider this to be Nien Numb per se. I consider it a generic Sullustan B-Wing pilot, since it's just a repainted Evolutions Sullustan. Nien Numb is short, very short maybe 2/3rds the height of this Sullustan.
Really I just consider this figure to be an error in naming it.
-
Driving around Chicago... which isn't easy to do. :-\
I saw the tapes of those riots yesterday. If I were you I'd stay in the car.
-
Where were those? I don't really watch the local news and didn't hear anything of it.
There's a Cubs game out my back window right now though.
-
Picked this wave up at Target and opened them all up. What a wave. I'm floored at the articulation standard. With the exception of the Ewoks, they all have the same points of super articulation. Great sculpts too. Luke is the worst by far, but I have to admit, he's much better than the preproduction photo's. If it wasn't for the undersized waist, he'd be awesome.
-

As far as the waist goes, he be a lot better if they would have included the belt from the TLC Sandstorm Luke (http://www.yakface.com/TGuide2004/ActionFigures/TLC/LC_BD16/lf20.html). He was wearing it during the DSII duel after all.
-
For those of you looking to display the Nikto Gunner Gun. If you still have the base from the POTF Cinema Scenes Skiff Guard Pack, it works pretty good and looks decent with a few more figs displayed on it.
-

You know what? You're right. Maybe I'll have to track down the sandstorm Luke for a little customization.
-
The DSII Luke ain't so bad - by far better than that horrible, HORRIBLE 2004 DSII Luke (the one with the caveman expression and floppy arms). Yeah, it looks like Hasbro could have made a few better choices with this figure, but this is definitely the Luke to accompany our 2008 TLC Darth Vader (w/ 2-piece helmet)! :D
-
I got the wave the other day from HTS. And I'm very pleased with it all the way 'round.
Regarding DS2 Luke? I think it's a great figure. The facial likeness isn't perfect, but historically Mark Hammill's likeness has been tough to nail down. The one thing that sticks out to me? By virtue of their design, the ball jointed shoulders are a little bulky. So it makes Luke look a little musclebound. A swivel joint may have looked a little better in this case. But in this case it seems that the articulation was more important.
-
This whole wave is in stock at HTS.com right now.
Just had myself a little Dresselian army building session.
-
From what I'm seeing, they're listed as "Pre-Order" status...
-
Lame. I got all excited and put an order in...

I just got most of this wave, and $10 off total was nice with the discount. It covered shipping and some of the tax, so well worth it and not dragging my ass all over creation looking for it. I think Paul had me covered on DS2 Luke so I didn't pick him up and I didn't see a couple TPM wave and Nein Numb listed, so I missed on both of those, but I'll get them eventually. I just need Rum Slegg and Numb anyway now... and a third comic pack if I didn't see it. Either way I'm pretty happy, actually. Thanks to those who caught those figures online. I hate looking for stuff anymore.
I'm doing a toy run tomorrow. Wanna bet I find 'em? :)
-
$10 of Jesse?
Was this a HTS thing? I put in the ROTJ wave order and couldn't get the SW2009 code to work.
-
I think SW2009 and SW2010 (10% off) are the only discount codes at the moment for SW stuff. And just a reminder that each of those codes is a one-time use code per account, so if you've used it once you can't use it again... unless you create a new e-mail/account.
-
That explains it... I wish I'd thought to use SW2010, didn't know about it. I guess I'll just use it next time I order from them.
-
I used the SW2010 and that worked for me. Not sure if I used the other one before or not.
-
I got my HTS order in of the ROTJ Wave on Saturday and I gotta say overall it's an impressive wave. Some quick thoughts on each figure, noting that I skipped Rancor Keeper and the B-Wing Pilot...
Jedi Luke - If I hadn't seen the pics of this figure in advance I'd be extremely disappointed, instead I'm just let down once again by Hasbro's inability to follow up on the greatness of the 2004 Jedi Luke. The headsculpt isn't bad at all, though it looks a bit too old for Luke in ROTJ, the hair styling is spot on. The torso and the swappable chest piece work out great, I actually expected it not too but was shocked. However, the use of the 30AC Luke arms, legs, and waist ruin the figure. The limbs are too bulky, especially at the joints, to properly detail Luke in ROTJ. As mentioned before the shoulders are the worst examples as they are just not sculpted well at all. If I wasn't a collector of all things Jedi Luke, I would never have gotten this figure.
Slave Leia - This figure is way better than I expected, the Hasbro pics did not do it justice. The headsculpt is pretty good and the detailing across the whole figure is perfect. The swappable lower half works out nicely though the skin tone on the "sitting" legs doesn't match the rest of the figure, but it's passable. One key thing to note, is when putting the regular lower half back on, make sure to push all the way through otherwise your Leia will look a little bow-legged.
Nikto Gunner - WOW! The sculpting details on this one is amazing, all the folds and creases put into this show what great work the Hasbro designers can do. Even the small straps on the legs and torso are separate pieces, top notch stuff! And the likeness of the headsculpt is so good it makes me want many head casts of this guy, leagues better than the Nikto Jedi of 2002.
Giran - This one is an almost WOW! Like Nikto, the sculpting is outstanding, but it's so good it actually screws up the articulation. The shoulder and knee joints are hampered by the sculpting such that you do not get the full range of motion you should. While not the end of the world, I think Hasbro could have fixed this issue easily. Still, this is another winner from Hasbro.
Major Panno - Another well done figure, though there aren't a lot of details here that stand out when compared to the Jabba goons. Most notable I think to me is that it's a great base for SA Rebel Soldiers in the future. Also keep note on the "pouches" on the cloak, you can use them to hold his weapon and communicator.
Ewoks - Not a lot you can say here, other than a good job on the headsculpts and weapons. These are the same Ewok sculpts we got in the last 2 pack, nice job for the Ewoks but nothing to write home about. Paploo does look spot on from the movie though.
Overall, I'm happy with my purchases and despite the end "being nigh" as is being rumored, I see that from an individual figure standpoint Hasbro is overall doing just fine with the OT goodness.
-

Just had myself a little Dresselian army building session.
Man, that Dresselian is awesome. Really makes the Pruneface from POTF2 look lame, and he was a pretty solid figure to begin with.

They shipped my order yesterday, it only took 1 week.
-
I'm still waiting but got my order in later than Dressel did, so I'm curious to see if I get mine soon. I got my comic packs and E1 stuff over the weekend so I am wagering my ROTJ figs are on the way too, soon.

I went ahead and placed an order for them... Slave Leia was out of stock when I did, but I just got a shipping notice for the other 7 figures.

I skipped Leia altogether, I think the facial likeness sucks.
-
I buy all of them.... thinking about picking up an extra to have one in each pose too.
-
I'm defininitely am picking up 2 Leia's for that exact reason, Rob. I have 2 Luke Dagobah's for that, actually, and even want to try my hand at a SA one at some point.
But Leia's a must x2 for the reclining pose, and the "action figure". She's more an accessory for Jabba with the posed legs though.
-
Stumbled across the remnants of a Wave 9.5 (wave 9, rev 1) case tonight at Target and lucked into the new Ugnaught variant (http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/10-09/TLC09_wave9_ugnaught.jpg). :)
Hasbro may have dropped the ball on the Hoth Rebel variant, but at least they managed to get us the variant piggy, complete with the same toolkit/console accessories the first version had.
-
That's a nice bonus... I didn't realize it was going to be out this soon.
-
Yeah, that's news. Now the question is, do I go on the hunt for just one figure?
-
That IS awesome news about the variant, but why is all the focus right now on Legacy and no new toys for the CW line? THE SHOW JUST STARTED!
Put out those freaking new BP's already, and make with the Freeco Speeder!
-
Put out those freaking new BP's already, and make with the Freeco Speeder!
Totally want that CW Obi-Wan w/ Freeco speeder. All the Deluxe sets on shelves right now seem to be Anakin w/ Can-cell. Like the Ugnaught, btw ;).
-
Because Legacy's been hurting all year probably. :)
I just got my ROTJ figures in today from HTS. I've got no complaints on my willingness to wait on their date at this point.
Panno kicks much ass. My fav of the wave.
I'll be picking up more of him to army build some Dressellians, if htis wave ever sees any kind of decent distribution. Ready to get more figures, duplicates, from this wave already so I can't say I'm not hunting for stuff anymore, but I won't be making long toy runs. Just the routine stuff locally.
Gotta get my 2nd Leia asap. Very nice figure. Panno's the wave winner though, to me.
Both goons, great... Malakili wasn't wanted but is nice. Just hope he's phased out quickly. Ewoks rock, give me more, and more, and more.
Jedi Luke's still coming (Paul got him for me) so other than that, I'm caught up... Well, I still need the Ball Turret Battlepack but that's another story.
-
Are the Ewoks and Jedi Luke new? Geez, I just ordered six figures and if I'd realized those were newish OT stuff I'd likely have ordered them as well. Nice to get seven figs in quick order from SWS.com as that alleviates a lot of stress from them not hitting here at all. Ordered slave Leia, Nikto Gunner, Giran, Major Panno, Malakili, Nien Nunb and a Hoth Rebel Trooper I never got previously. I guess I'll have to leave Luke and the 'woks until I can stumble across Rum Sleg.
-
Are the Ewoks and Jedi Luke new?
Wait... you're asking about the Ewoks? Seriously?
-
Both are "new", but the Luke shares some parts with previous Luke's, and the Ewoks I believe are repaints with new accessories, but I could be wrong. Not opened them yet.
-

Wait... you're asking about the Ewoks? Seriously?
I'll spare you the rant (for now) but I need them for a certain BBQ diorama I'm working on. >:D
-
Looking at mine, the heads may be new too, Brent. The bodies are re-used.
-

Here is a breakdown (http://www.yakface.com/TGuide2004/html/TLC/basicfigures/BD18.html#yakfacts) I did while ago.
-
Thanks Jayson. I thought the heads were new once I opened it... They're very snugly fit to the hats, to the point I can't get Paploo's off and haven't tried No 'Apak's.
These are some of the best decoed Ewoks ever though, outstanding.
Someone somewhere did some simple "drybrushing" to spiff the hoods of the Marvel 3-pack Ewoks up, and man did that make a world of difference. They're night and day figures, just with some deco to the hoods. Kudos to whoever I saw do that, which I now forget who that was.
-
Does R5-C7 (B.A.D.) make an appearance anywhere in the movies / EU or is it a Hasbro creation?
-
Episode 1, I thought, was where he was from. I'm no expert on that Rob, but I'm pretty sure that's his home... One of Amidala's perhaps?
-
This Wookieepedia entry (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Unidentified_Tatooine_R5_Unit) id's this R5 as R5-H6 from scenes on Tatooine in ATTACK OF THE CLONES. IIRC, this droid also shows up in the Visual Dictionary for AOTC.
-
Thanks guys. I'll stick him with the AOTC Tatooine stuff for now until I hear differently.
-
He's going with my Rebel Pilots, I think. I figure everyone needs their own. :)
-
Sounds sacrilegious.
-
He's purdy... I figure a female pilot may dig him.
Come on, Rebels love their Astromechs. You know you want to move him down so one of the female pilots or one of the human B-Wing pilots has his own astro.
-
There is an R5 unit in the Home One briefing scene that's similar to this one. But I think the markings are closer to the AOTC tatooine R5 unit.
-
Found this wave minus Leia at Walmart today. They still can't give us a decent ROTJ Luke :-\
-
Good news another retailer with these. Where are you evenflow?
-
Got my set from HTS today. Giran and the Nikto gunner are figures of the year. Love the Ewoks, too. Luke isn't perfect, but Leia impressed me much more than I expected.
-

I've been watching the AOTC Tatooine arrival scenes frame by frame and I don't see this astromech anywhere. The closest one I've seen looks more like R5-D4.
-
I always thought the R5 was from Coruscant...one of the street scenes
-
I always thought the R5 was from Coruscant...one of the street scenes
Which film?
-
Attack of the Clones...the droid is in the AOTC Visual Dictionary Book (along with the Red/Blue R3 and the EE Orange R4 unit). There is just blue screen shots of the R5 unit around the net
-
I found him. He is passing in the background crowd from left to right at the end of the alley behind the Outlander Night Club when Obi-Wan and Anakin take Zam out the back.
-
Much like ANH's re-use of droids I guess, the same can be said of astro's in the prequals.
The thing is, to me anyway, droids are like cars... how many aqua mid-90's Chevy Cavaliers have you seen? Or what about the black and dark blue ones today? How many dark blue Ford Explorers?
That's one planet... You know there's gotta be a myriad of blue and white R2's too, we just see the one. Some decoes are probably custom, a little more obscure or "rare", but others are probably just run-of-the-mill paint jobs you get off the showroom floor.
-

Perfect, thanks Jayson!

Good eye, Jayson! I think that's the same blink scene where Hasbro found R3-T7 (from the Episode II preview wave IIRC).

Actually, R3-T7 is in the same image I posted above in the lower left corner.
Here is a better image of the two of them together:

I believe that droid that gets blasted is R2ish only green (like R2-A6)

Sadly i just moved to Arizona, they were found at Walmart.
-
Saw the new ROTJ Legacy wave for the first time around here last night at Target. Looked to be almost a complete case. Giran looked really sweet, but none of this stuff appeals to me enough to buy. Still, good to see new product hitting the shelves. Just wish they hadn't let the TCW line lapse into obscurity all of a sudden...
-
I found a revision case a snatched the Ugnaught. Nice little figure, but it still should have been a 2 pack.
-
Im still tryingt o find the Ugnaught. I need to hit up a few more places this week.
-
If anyone buys Maj Panno and does not want the BAD parts, please shoot me a PM.
-
Giran looked really sweet
Yes, definitely the "gem" of the wave. Of course, the entire wave is pretty solid, IMO.
-
If anyone buys Maj Panno and does not want the BAD parts, please shoot me a PM.
Gotcha covered.
-
That's what I call reaching across the aisle.
-
Not buying Panno, Matt? You're missing out. For me, HE is the gem of the wave... softgoods poncho that even has pockets sewn to hold the communicator, 3 different plastic accessories, super articulated, fantastic sculpt...
I liked the goons, don't get me wrong, but they didn't come to the level I felt Panno was. You should pick him up.
-
Not buying Panno, Matt? You're missing out. For me, HE is the gem of the wave...
On the contrary, I think Matt's buying about 600 Panno's.
-
DR is, but not Fury... Thank God Colman isn't here or this **** would really be confusing.
-
My middle name is Matthew and I bought one. Does that help?
-
On the contrary, I think Matt's buying about 600 Panno's.
I'm pretty sure I passed that already. I'd count them up, but I can't reach the top of the pile anymore.
-
Scrooge McDuck swimming in money is the best analogy I can think of.
-
I found the revision wave at two different targets today, so I picked up few of the V2 Ugnaught. Pretty nice figure - I like him better than the one that was released earlier.

I thought about it, but decided to pass. Just no real good spot to display him. The Jabba's Palace guys I all have a place for either on my Skiff (the Nikto Gunner looks great there) or in the palace as upgrades. The "Nien Nunb" figure looks well in my Alliance hangar scene, as will another astromech.
He does look like a great figure, and I'm surprised Dressel hasn't shown up out here buying them all. :D
-
Still looking for this damn wave at Target ... :P
>Sigh< :(
-
Panno would look sharp in an Endor or Rebel Hangar dio Matt... He's in both.
-
Does anyone know what case assortment figure # BD24: General Grievous is in? It is pictured on the back of the repack figures from wave 9.5, but is not in that case assortment (from what I can tell). I looked it up in Yakface.com's toyguide and they say it is in the wave 10 assortment, but when I checked it on Entertainment Earth and Big Bad Toy stores web sites he is not in any assortments that are out now or upcoming. Has this figure been canceled or what? I know it is just a repack, but I buy the repacks from the Legacy collection, so I was wondering what was going on with this. ???
-
I'm a Matt too, but I am passing on Panno. :)
Nothing personal, I'm just not a Legacy man. He does look cool though.

It is a mystery at the moment... hopefully we will get an answer tomorrow during the Hasbro Q&A as I know at least 1 site asked about it.

Scrooge McDuck swimming in money is the best analogy I can think of.

Guess I'm in the minority here - Panno is great idea for a figure, and from the neck down he's awesome. But I think that Hasbro did a shoddy job on the head sculpt, it doesn't seem as detailed or refined as most of their other work these days.

I think Panno is hella cool - I don't mind the head sculpt. Just, tool him up a removable eye patch, rifle and tan cloak and we'd have a great Prune Face.

Agreed. I love just about every figure in this wave - the added detail and articulation on each of them is super. Most are characters I'm not all that excited about, but the quality and detail on these quickly changed my mind now that I've seen them in person.
-
I just got another case, the second Ugnaught is really cool. I like him better than the first one. Now I need to find one more to swap parts with my duplicate version 1 so I can have a robust group of Galactic Piggies. This was a really nice wave and they did not skimp out at all on detail and articulation.
-
I got Luke today from Paul, and I gotta say, I don't think this figure's nearly as bad as all the bitching I've read... It's not perfect, but I like Hasbro's effort to give both chests in one, rather than repackaging it as another figure down the road. I'll still gladly buy a 2nd of this. I really think it's decent.
I think the likeness is quite nice as well.

Well I was sick all this week with the flu...yep the H1N1 stuff. I am sure I missed out on this wave this week. I will go out today and look for them. If I don't score them it's time to hit them up online!
-
My one sighting of this wave at retail? A lone Malakili, and someone had ripped out the droid part.
-
Found the remnants of this wave today. Scored Luke, Panno and the two Skiff Guards, and passed on Nein and Rancor Keeper for now. Didn't see Leia or the Ewoks.
-
Sounds like these hit pretty hard the last couple days. I wonder if that will be the last good chance to find them before wave 10 hits.

No BD24 Grievous is coming. From the Q&A at Han's Hideout (http://hanshideout.blogspot.com/2009/10/hasbro-star-wars-q-session-18.html):
He was indeed dropped, leaving a hole in our figuring number system. This was in response to needing to shift a bunch of assortments around - we just couldn't fit him in. As such, there will be no BD24 issued.
-
Not that i didnt want one before but after opening Giran and the new Nikto, i really want Kithba to round a whole new Klaatu, Barada, Niktu. Oh and still want Wooof too!
-
Just scored this whole wave tonight, minus the Ewoks. I hit two different Targets, and the only figure gone was the Ewok set. What. The. Hell.
It shouldn't surprise me, since every Ewok since Chirpa has been a pain in the ass for me to find. At least I got the second Ugnaught, so I don't have to fight for that one.
-
Surprised Grievous was droppped....but I don't really mind since I got him from the TLC! ;D Wow, is this the first time Hasbro makes a hole in the numbering system??

Thanks again Jeff. I did read this on Yakface.com. It kind of stinks that they dropped it, but at least it is one less repack to buy. ;D :)

Nooooooooo way man.
These have not begun to hit en masse yet, try December.

It's not the first time, no. There was wave back in SAGA of '04 where the numbering system got all screwed up and at one point there were two figures that had the same number.

Sort of. The inserts with Saga Darth Maul 03/25 (http://www.yakface.com/TGuide2004/html/0325.html) and Han Solo 03/27 (http://www.yakface.com/TGuide2004/html/0327.html) were misprinted whereas Maul's read: "03/23" and Han's read "03/25". The card backs were printed correctly so there wasn't an technical "break" in the numbering.
Interestingly, this insert numbering error happened again in the ROTS line but was corrected first with stickers on the insert and then with printed inserts.
The Wookiee Heavy Gunner (http://www.yakface.com/TGuide2004/html/rots/64.html) and R4-P117 (http://www.yakface.com/TGuide2004/html/rots/68.html) were both designated as figures #64 and #68, but again there was no real break in the numbering system.

Ok. I missed where 3 months after any wave lately hit origianlly that it then was out in masse. We clearly don't live in the same area.
-
I like Luke - the range of motion he has in his torso joint is the best they've ever done there - but the arms are too bulky compared to the legs. He's certainly appreciated, and I don't know they'll ever do better, so he's off to fight his dad on my shelves.

I haven't heard of anywhere where waves hit in bulk the same month they're released and then are never heard from again - possibly with the exception of the Sio Bibble wave in 1999 and barely the AOTC Wave 7 this year, although I am still seing it in stores.
Around here anyhow, figures trickle in the month they're officially "released" and then within 1-2 months hit en masse, like clockwork. We'll have Phantom Menace Wave 8 and Return of the Jedi Wave 9 hit in bulk at the end of November and December here in NY. Even Entertainment Earth has revisions of these two waves first coming in for November.
-
I saw this wave at Target this week as well, although I already had it via online sources. I was able to grab the second Ugnaught though, so I was happy to find that figure. It looks like Luke, Leia, and the ewoks were the first to sell here as well - as the rest of the wave was still on the pegs today.
-
I've managed to find most of this wave, still missing Leia and the Ewoks. I think my favorite so far has to be Panno. What a great figure with lots of customizing and army building potential. These legs look like they will work great on a human Endor Rebel Commado at somepoint (I believe we asked this in the Q & A not long ago, and Hasbro confirmed that this may be the plan.) The sculpts are fantastic all around.
I like Luke better in person. The more I look at him, I really have no problem with his upper body. His scrawny little waist/lower torso seems to be what is throwing off his proportions. I can deal with this version for now, but I think it is going to need an update before too long, and that sucks.
I also have to applaud Hasbro for one little thing about this wave that really is a huge improvement. All of the staffs/pikes/gaffis that I have are nice and stiff. Not one of them looks like they need some plastic viagra. This is what we should have been getting with our figures all along.
-
The only figure I've seen for the VERY FIRST TIME (!!) from this wave is Malakilli. Would have bought it along with the new TPM Obi, but I only had enough for one fig - decided on Kenobi. Wanted both. :( But this was the first time I'VE ever seen the ROTJ wave (or at least some of it) at retail ... Good sign that Hasbro's stepping it up as far as distribution.
-
Found the Ugnaught tonight at walmart, they were bring cases of toys out so i had first pick ;D Was hoping to find DC wave 10 but that is a whole different story.
-
Found Giran, Nikto Gunner, Major Panno, and the new Ugnaught at Target yesterday. All very well done figures. I'm just blown away by the two skiff guards though....detailed sculpts, super articulation, nice accessories, these two are action figure perfection. 8)
-
Those two are Hall of Fame to me. They're two of the best of the year, and two of the best of the modern line. I'm really excited next year for Wooof, and especially now the Gamorrean Guard, who I wasn't before. I think he will be very good.
-
This whole wave is shockingly good - there's not a figure in here that I'm disappointed in. I know Hasbro said they would do more for collectors next year, but if they just keep up this level of quality with their new releases, I'll be ecstatic.
-
I saw this wave today, except for Leia, Nikto and the Ewoks, and only bought the Klaatu guy. I might pick up the Prune Face guy if I see him around again. I thought the Luke looked pretty bad; the sandstorm Luke without all the extra gear is still a better representation, IMHO.
The Rancor Keeper guy is a worthless resculpt; he doesn't look that much better than the POTF2 version (although I'm sure the added articulation is a bonus for a guy who doesn't really do anything but cry).
The biggest disappointment for me, though, is Nein Numb. I don't want a B-Wing pilot Nein Numb, I want the one with the vest; the way the vintage and POTF2 versions looked. So close, yet so far.
The Klaatu guy is fantastic, though. Work of art.
-

Anybody try carving out his chest and inserting the folded piece?

Do it. The figure is freaking fantastic.

Totally agree that Malakili isn't that much better than the POTF2 one, so much so that I saved my $8.50 and passed on him altogether. He did do a little more than cry though, give him some credit for the bouncing man boobs action. I know I wouldn't strut mine in front of a running movie reel.

You can't think of this as a Nien Numb figure. You have to think of it as a generic Sullustan Rebel pilot the same way you did with the Evolutions version that this is the repaint of. Nien Numb is short. This figure is no joke about 1.5" taller than a Nien Numb figure should have been. As far as I'm concerned, Hasbro simply put the wrong name on it. This is not Nien Numb.
-
Personally, I'm fine with this being Nien Nunb - sure it's a very scene specific version, and not one we asked for or necessarily wanted, but it works for me until the real deal comes along. Plus, if repainting an existing figure to serve as case filler that helps to cost out all-new figures like Slave Leia, Panno, the Nikto Gunner, Giran and even Malakili I'm all for it.
-

I'm already kicking myself for not buying Panno. I'll swing by on my way into work tomorrow and see if he's still around.
And if Malikili's boobs had been articulated, I would have considered getting him as well. Maybe someday...

I agree with this description of "coping with Nein Numb". He's not Nein in the cockpit of the Falcon, he's just some Sullustan bullshitting with the humans before battle. He flies a B-Wing, which he ejects from during the battle of Endor as he crashes it into a Star Destroyer. He floats around in space, but then the Death Star blows up and he's pushed off into deep space by the ensuing shockwave which doesn't kill him, but instead sends him on a long journey.
He's later picked up by a harem ship on the way to Jabba's Palace... The ship's captain realizes though that Jabba just got offed the other day, so now he's free to open up as an inter-stellar ship of pleasure, where this Sullustan lives out his days in sexual ecstacy. Look for photonovels and artwork soon.

Where's Cable...
-
Does anybody know what Panno's weird white/black communicator looking thing is and where it's supposed to go? I assumed there was a little holster for it like the 06 Long Snout had but there isn't.
-
It's a communicator and it can fit in either of the little softgoods pockets/holsters on his chest. It just slides right in and the cape holds it tight. :)

I love that feature (http://www.yakface.com/TGuide2004/html/TLC/basicfigures/BD20.html), maybe Hasbro will keep that in mind when they do a Grievous with cape again.
-
Good point on Grievous' cape. I'd love to see that with some saber hilts for sure.
-
If anyone happens across an extra Ugnaught v2 and doesn't mind picking him up and sending him my way, I'd appreciate it. Maybe he won't be a big deal, but I haven't seen one yet and don't want to miss out.
-
I found one tonight along with the ewoks. I never thought I'd be excited about getting ewoks for my collection, but they look great on the Endor shelf!

Thanks, just let me know if it ends up that way. I'm keeping an eye out. I'll update here if I find one in the short term.
-
You know, I was sort of surprised - our local Target got a case of this wave in last week, and the Leia/Luke/Ewoks disappeared within a day. Here it is almost a week and a half later, and the rest of the wave is still hanging on the pegs. I would have thought the whole thing would have sold right away, and people are especially missing out with those Jabba goons.
-
I've seen parts of this wave on a few occasions at a couple of Targets. I've seen the situation Brian described, only the Skiff Guards missing, and then only the pilot and Prune Face. So it seems different shoppers are after different figures. On all occasions the repacks were gone.
I've only picked up the Nikto Gunner and the Ewoks so far. The Ewoks are cool looking, but nothing special. It's still cool to add more variety to the tribe I suppose. The Nikto gunner is bland in my opinion but it's still a cool figure. I'm hoping to pick up several more to outfit my skiff. It's awesome that the cannon can connect to the rails.
-
I have only seen this wave once so far and the funny thing is that the Anakin, Obi-Wan, Biker Scout and Jango repacks are STILL in the store.
When I found the wave, the only new figures left were Luke, Leia and Malakili. Finding the Leia was great for me since I definitely want two of her to open - so I can have her displayed both ways. Same thing with the Luke so I can have him on display with the different chest pieces.
I've yet to stumble on any other figures from this wave, but I'm not too worried, that was the same situation with the EP1 wave and then it was like an EP1 figure explosion around here.
If all else fails, I'll just order some cases from EE.
-

Jeff's hooking me up - thanks anyway though.

I re-accessorized Major Panno to create a few Dresselian Commandos using Vintage, OTC and TSC cloaks. With a little paint and different weapons, he could be one of the best Rebel army builders to come along in some time.

NICE. I love the simple and really effective cape swaps Jayson.
-
Jayson, I was so inspired by your photo of just simple reaccessorizing that I upped a Panno too tonight with an Endor poncho (cut the hood loose so it's not sewn to the back of the poncho), and a Power Team Elite figure's backpack. Added a Clone Trooper blaster carbine for a touch of them using older army surplus from the last war... He looks slick as hell like that. Not film accurate, but worth a looksee.
Panno's probably one of the most diverse figures ever I think. Fantastic army builder htough he maybe wasn't intended as such. My favorite from that wave of pretty great figures. I wish I could find a load of them.
-
I'm hoping for a little help here.
If someone has a spare head and third led for the R3-01 (the blue) BAD, could you give me a PM?
-
Rotj wave is nice, decent sculpt although the scale of action figuresī height gets shorter.
Perhaps the most notable difference in height is the case of Malakili, I expected he could be depicted a bit taller.
Maybe the smaller box determines smaller action figures (exception: Chewie variants)
Hasbro should have the challenge to make another Nien Nunb from Millennium Falcon cockpit
The case of Giran and Nikto Gunner makes me hope the new super articulated gamorrean guard could be planned for 2010.
-
I think I've been SCAMMED with the DSII Luke BAD part!! ???
I recently acquired DSII Luke, and he should have this blue BAD part. (http://www.rebelscum.com/photo.asp?image=/TLC/Basic/BD16Luke/LC-1083.jpg)
But instead I got the part packed with the ANH R2-D2 (http://www.rebelscum.com/photo.asp?image=/TLC/Basic/BD29R2D2/NEW-171.jpg)
I'm wondering if this was just an honest mistake on Hasbro's part since the BAD parts are so similar, or if maybe another collector removed the parts and swapped them.
-
Neither. Luke was repacked into the ANH wave as a case filler/ carry forward figure and thus his BAD part was switched to match the other R3-A2 (http://www.yakface.com/TGuide2004/html/TLC/r3a2.html) BAD parts of that wave.

You got the DS II Luke that was packed in a wave 3 case. That version of Luke includes the R3-A2 dome & center leg. If you had gotten DS II Luke from a wave 2 case, it would have come with the R3-M3 dome & center leg. If you need that particular droid part, it's also available with BD14 - Anakin Skywalker & BD25 - Saleucami Trooper.
You can check out a full rundown on all of the droid parts here (http://www.jeditemplewarroom.com/forum/index.php?topic=1865.0).
-
Thanks guys - now I can breathe a sigh of relief. ;)
-
Yeah, I got Luke the other day and came with the orange astromech. I was slightly disappointed as I want the blue one more. Sorry, I don't know the names of the astromechs they all blur together for me after awhile.
-
I actually think R3-A2 (the orange one) came out better than R3-M3 (the blue one). I like how R3-A2's dome is made of clear plastic as opposed to the frosted plastic of R3-M3.
I still bought enough figures to build two of each of them though. They'll come in handy displayed in various dioramas or thrown into various vehicles with droid sockets.
-

I noticed the same thing - except in my case the Luke figures didnt sell as fast - but I stopped at a local WM and the Jabbas Palace guys, Panno, and the rebel pilot have stuck around in numbers, there were multiples of each, which strikes me as odd, since they are great figures, minus the rebel pilot whos a bore. It could be the case that collectors already have them and parents were the ones buying Luke, Leia, and the ewoks...
-
Luke and Leia were near to non-existent near me. Ewoks came in a close second to them. The Skiff guards were easy to find and IMO great figures. I bought extras for customs.
Nein Nunb shows up the most. I suppose that's because of Hasbro's just having released him in an Evolutions set. (great choice there H... rolls eyes)
Surprisingly, Malakili and Panno have sold well. Neither are pegwarmers and only stay on the shelves just a smidge longer than the skiff guards.
This was a solid wave, IMO.
-
Panno stays on the shelves longer than the skiff guards? Your side of town and mine must be way different. I see the skiff guards semi-frequently and Panno I'm lucky to find one at this point. He sold just slightly less than Luke/Leia everywhere I go. Usually I see the Nikto Guard, Malikili, and Nein Numb with Giran next... Panno, Luke, Leia and the Ewoks are usually gone.
I see these shipping still though so things can change. I find a new case of them has been opened every whipstitch.
-

I've seen around Panno and Sciffies 50/50. It's Malakilli that's tends to be around the longest. And I've caught Luke hanging around - I'm surprised that it was Luke, not Leia on the pegs. :o Even the Ewoks were gone.

Well I did say a smidge. By that I mean maybe one day longer than the others. That's hardly of significance. This whole wave has sold very well.
-
Near me its Malikili and Luke that are most likely to sit. Followed closely by Pranno. I've seen the B-Winger and Sciffies a few times, the Ewoks once and no Leia.
-
I hardly ever spot the furballs. Same with Leia. Around here, Panno & Malikili are keeping the pegs plenty warm.
-
I keep seeing Nien Numb, Malakili and Giran - I guess there's no love for the Rancor keepers. :-\
It got two of each so I could display them both with Jabba's Rancor AND also as filler characters in my Jabba's throne room set-up.
Both are great figures.
-
It's funny how Hasbro gave Leia a C-rating, since female figures don't tend to sell well. This Leia is most definitely an A-rating on the shelves! She's always gone! The Emperor has foreseen most incorrectly...
-
Part of that is her case-packing too though. She's 1-per I believe. Her slave costume's one of those things too that I think a lot of people would buy that normally might not buy otherwise for on their computer desk or some such.
I've only seen her twice in the wild... Luke slightly more, Panno slightly more than that, then the Skiff Guards, then Nein Numb, and then Malikili is the "pegwarmer" who I see semi-routinely. From Panno to Leia though, those 3 I rarely see ever. I'd probably have 20 Panno's by now if I could find them in any quantity.
-
She's hard to get. She's the only fig from the last three waves that I haven't seen anywhere.
-
Does anyone know if it's possible to swap heads between Giran, Nikto or Nien Numb? I don't have any of these yet, but was thinking of getting a couple extras if it's easy to swap parts.
-
Not really. The Nikto head will fit on Giran, but the others don't swap well at all.

I got a question...I bought this whole wave, why do I have two blue R2 BAD body pieces, and no head for the blue one?
-
Not sure Mike, but Luke should come with the blue R2's dome.

I just stumbled across the most annoying piece of thievery I've ever seen. >:(
I've seen pictures of swapped-out figures or figures with swapped-out BAD parts, but today at my local Target someone clearly ripped the side of a ROTJ wave Malakilli to get only to the BAD part and just left the remains there, torn package and missing BAD part and all, the works. I almost half-expected that they would have taken the figure home and done their evil work there, but this is just the lamest thievery I've ever seen. If you did this, whoever might be reading, be man enough to get the money next time, like the rest of us do.
Thanks. :-*

I was once angered at the lack of this wave, but I'm now angered at the over-abundance of Major Pannos, Ten Numbs, Malakils, and Nikto Gunners. >:(

Alright, I confess.... it was me. I'll try to be more discreet next time.

Anyone know if the ewoks hoods are swapable?
-
yes they are. I bought a 2nd one of these packs when I found that out. The white ewok with white hood is pretty cool.
-
Yep, and IIRC they are a pain in the ass to remove.

and yes they are...

yeah, I had drop in them in some hot water to soften them up and even then I still had to use a nearby butter knife to help pry them off.

Anyone got a pic of what they look like with the swapped hoods? I'm wonderin if it's worth it to pick up an extra pair.
