Star Wars Action Figures / Re:Hello out there !!!!
« on: December 10, 2002, 07:10 AM »
That's great work, its almost inspiring. I have been so busy and lazy lately that I've been working on my Arena dio for months now, it's a wooden skeleton at the moment... see, I've been "almost finished" with a B-24 Liberator model for about 2 years now, too.  :o

Saga '02-'04 / I want a new C3PO, am I crazy?
« on: December 10, 2002, 07:04 AM »
I've been thinking about this for a while, but I really would like a C3PO with reasonable articulation and correct coloring. The elbows could be articulated and judging by the few PERFECT Saga figures we have (Bespin Luke, Chewbacca), the elbows could even have that pipe-bracket-thingy to make it accurate. The wrists and knees should be articulated, and of course his waist should be also. That's be neat if he had a rubber waist-line with wires painted on it to simulate his waist wiring. Maybe I've forgotten, but I have yet to see a C3PO figure with a silver leg, too.

I dunno, I just want the "ULTIMATE" C3PO figure, it just seems to me like figures are slowly improving, and yet C3PO is practically the same mold from '92(?).

The fact that Ben and Yoda are the only Jedi to have faded away like this is PROOF that they are the greatest Jedi ever. That's the way I see it.

Saga '02-'04 / Re:Aayla Secura, Barris Offee and Lama Su Pics!!!
« on: December 5, 2002, 07:00 PM »
okay, time for me to criticize... bah... They all look stupid in some shape or form except for Lama.

The little kid doesn't have a removable helmet, nor articulated knees to sit at a "learning station" thingy.

Barris looks like a rooster crowing.

Aayla doesn't look like Aayla, and the shoulder joints are really horrid looking. What's worse, many of "us" were expecting a highly-articulated Twi'lek... Aayla doesn't seem very articulated to me... 5, maybe 6 points of articulated isn't a big deal when you compare it to, say, Saga Bespin Luke (12 points total, I believe). Another thing, the ball-joint arms don't have to look so terrible, HOWEVER, I will take this over a crappy statue like the Nikto jedi... Of course, that 5'6 Aayla sounds sorta promising.

Okay, I'm done criticizing.

Lord I hated shading at first, and I NEVER shaded, you can see that in any of my older work... BUT... once you begin to shade stuff... even when you feel like your over-doing it, the drawing really begins to get some life to it. So definately shade stuff, BUT, remember to shade in the right direction, as the lightsaber is an obvious light source.

Another tip, it helps me to draw a box out and then draw whatever I want to inside the box, this keeps everything clean looking for some reason. You can also simply tape a box so that a true box doesnt detract from what you drew in it, but the drawback is that tape traps dirt if you take a while to draw, and also it may tear the paper depending on the paper texture and the tape itself.

Great drawing so far, like-ness is near-perfect.

Fan Art / Re:Just Found This Art Work.

This probably seems familiar to you all because Dave Dorman painted pretty much the same thing for the Special Edition release of The Empire Strikes Back.
Dorman was painting the 'The Battle of Hoth' under official contract of Lucas, so his prints were offered on the Star Wars Insider for a short time before selling-out.

You probably reconize the image from the Insider's ad for the print(s), or your simply remembering the scene from the movie, lol.

Just in time for Thanksgiving, I'll try to post my latest pencil works... I might have time to do some digital coloring on one or two of these, but I can't make any promises of course.

Today I should be posting...
Zam Wessel (close up)
Unknown Corscant Charactor (desktop calendar has him pictured)
Boba Fett
AND
Me as a TIE Pilot... a really hard-to-draw charactor considering I hate drawing myself.

Perhaps other, older work

I got to the 'Breaking In' of the prison, and was never able to get past the 'Breaking Out', and so I used a level skip cheat and from that point forward I think I was relatively tired of the game. It's not 'difficult' in a gameplay sense, it's simply 'hard'. I can't stand spending more than 30 seconds jumping around trying to grab a hold of a barrier, only to fall of and have to start all over again. I believe the last mission that I actually beat and thought was cool was the Tusken mission. You may not have gotten there yet, but once you do you'll see what I mean by "cool". The dumbest mission yet would have to be one of the last ones, where you basically just spend hours sliding/jumping into holes. It's just lame-tastic. It's makes the mission where you jump on those cargo-thingies that go back and forth across a maw look like childs play.

Saga '02-'04 / Top 5: EU Figures you want made?
« on: November 26, 2002, 06:38 PM »
For you EU fans, who are the top 5 EU characters you'd like to see made...

5. Tycho Chelchu

4. Twi'Lek Rogue Squadron Member

3. Stormtrooper X
I don't know anything about this guy, but he looks darn-right cool.

2. Admiral Pellaeon
He's my favorite Imperial Officer because, well, he stayed alive the longest. Could always use another Officer.

1. Baron Soontir Fel
The greatest Imperial Ace only second to Vader himself, who wouldn't want a removable helmet TIE pilot?

The Wookiee Arcade / My thoughts on (PS2) Bounty Hunter

Okay, I'll make this quick-

Graphics- Very sweet looking during the movie shots, and also very nice during gameplay. The most impressive thing would have to be the overall terrain that you'll go through. Some of the maps are just pure art.

Sound- The only thing a LucasArts game is really gauraunteed to have is good sound. This game has awesome sound effects. There's really nothing missing here at all. I love how the voices are done by the actors/actresses who played the roles in the movie. The most impressive thing for me was hearing the Carbonite moan noise on one lap. It really brought the whole map together as far as environment goes.

Soundtrack- Okay, let me 'mark out' here by saying this... This is the best soundtrack on a videogame I've ever heard. It's got clips of every Star Wars movie to date, from what I have heard. It's got a few ESB Cloud City tunes, the Bounty Hunter tune from AOTC, several tunes from Jabba's Palace and related from ROTJ, and I think, not sure, but the Droid Army tune from TPM. I also believe there is a Cantina tune thrown in there at one point. This is the best part of the game.

Gameplay- Whew... okay... It's sorta fun to play, until you get to... maybe the 4th mission. The game just relies so much on the jet-pack and jumping and all this crap that you end up feeling more like spider-man than Jango. I was very disapointed with the gameplay. There is no difficulty setting, and you are only given 5 continues once you die, and because these maps are so large and enemy filled, you will need every continue to beat the map. It's very annoying to get "close" to finishing the map then to die for the last time and have to go all the way back and re-do the map. VERY LAME. This is also a Button-tapper shooter game, aka, there is no stealth or skill involved in killing someone... Just tap really fast and jump a lot.

Overall- I was really disapointed by the game... I'd buy the soundtrack in a second though.

The Original Trilogy / Re:Favorites
« on: November 24, 2002, 03:16 PM »
Character:
A very hard choice, but I'll have to say Luke Skywalker. He's the hero.

Vehicle:
Another hard choice... I'll go with the Y-Wing, it just looks cool and is Soooo under-rated... I need a Y-Wing, btw, bout time Hasbro re-hash it again.

Scene:
So many scenes... ah... I'll give a few of them. The most memorable scene is definately the Death Star duel between Luke and Vader. The music just fits it perfectly and its the finale. The Bespin duel is also a great one... and... the scene where Leia unfreezes Solo is awesome, again, the music makes it perfect.

Line:
"The Force is with you, young Skywalker... but you are not a Jedi yet."
