The Vintage Collection / Re: 2025 SWTVC March Madness
« on: January 8, 2025, 04:19 PM »
Looks like YakFace is doing a Top 25 for TVC and TBS as well.

The Yakface Top 25 polls are the culmination of their Top Ten series of polls that ran throughout 2024, much like the ones that were run over here.  It's a tournament of champions.  I tried to pick as many of the characters that made my March Madness Top 25 as I could, but I think my list only wound up having about a dozen of the eligible choices in the Yakface polls.

It's been interesting to see how this year's March Madness is playing out.  And it's also been cool to see how this kind of opinion polling has lined up with what Hasbro has chosen to produce in The Vintage Collection since it started in 2021.  Some quick stats?  Every year the bracket tournament has 64 entries.  So what kind of progress has been made?

2021
MADE - 37
ANNOUNCED - 3* (*denotes the entry - the Tonnikas account for one entry, but two figures)
UNMADE - 20

2022
MADE - 28
ANNOUNCED - 5* (*denotes the entry - the Tonnikas account for one entry, but two figures)
UNMADE - 31
REPEAT APPEARANCES - 42
POLL DEBUTS - 22

2023
MADE - 21
ANNOUNCED - 6* (*denotes the entry - the Tonnikas account for one entry, but two figures)
UNMADE - 37
REPEAT APPEARANCES - 51
POLL DEBUTS - 13

2024
MADE - 2
ANNOUNCED -11* (*denotes the entry - the Tonnikas account for one entry, but two figures)
UNMADE - 51
REPEAT APPEARANCES - 45
POLL DEBUTS - 19

2023 and 2024 accounted for a lot of the progress made with the poll entries.  But I think it goes without saying that you have to participate to really let your voice be heard.

« on: January 7, 2025, 08:32 AM »
The guys who run the @SWTVC Instagram page are back with the 2025 edition of their Vintage Collection March Madness tournament.  They are asking TVC collectors to submit their Top 25 most wanted Vintage Collection figures.  The 64 characters with the most votes move on to the TVC March Madness bracket tournament.

Nominations are now open via this Google form:  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeqDohyhsIguvZdypxB98c75xRfUI7YgnJw7Rlpq-mPqrelLA/viewform

My Amazon order page still has the entire wave listed with February 18 delivery dates.

It's been some seriously fun viewing!  And my kid and I have been having a great time trying to figure things out.  We didn't see the wrinkle at the end of the episode coming.  But then the re-cap at the beginning of the episode laid out a bit of foreshadowing that made it come together a bit.

I saw some chatter at RS about Amazon charging people and moving up delivery dates for the entire wave.  I've been checking my own orders, and the delivery dates are still mid to late February.

I don’t need two Andor figures, I need three waves.

You better hope they've got a HasLab Fondor Haulcraft planned for Celebration in April to go along with Andor S2 then.  That's the only way we'll get them to support three waves for Andor.

The bulk of Jayson's list seems to be designed to either support the Ghost (4 Rebels/4 Ahsoka) or the Cantina (5 ANH).

Just feels like we're going to need a HasLab project to get significant traction on places where figures are lacking like Andor or The Bad Batch.

Skeleton Crew - Captain Brutus
....again, ALL SPECULATION.

I like your list but my guess would be SM-33 for Skeleton Crew...

I like your thinking about the Fondor Haulcraft!  If Hasbro can find a way to make it a $200 fan channel vehicle?  Then I would be very happy!  That plus a Cassian on speeder bike works for me.

I think SM-33 is a solid contender, too.  But I wonder if we're going to have a situation where Disney offers SM-33 first?  It's been just about a year since Disney offered the last entertainment derived Droid Factory 4-pack, and I see the potential for a Skeleton Crew set to be announced soon.  And is Hasbro coordinating with Disney on some of these releases?  They both released a Huyang.  I think a complicating factor for an SM-33 might be the peg leg.  Plus there are the extending limbs and armor plates.  So would SM-33 be a TVC deluxe figure?

So over in the RS forums I took a stab at what the figures in those rumored slots might be.  And Jayson chimed in with:  "Some excellent speculation in there."

This is what I speculated:

Here's my speculative lineup for the Yakface rumor slots. Some of these are cynical selections based on Hasbro's releases of the past 2 - 3 years.

MAINLINE FIGURES
The Mandalorian - Imperial Praetorian Guard
The Mandalorian - The Client (MM Top 10 / 20)
Star Wars Rebels - Hera Syndulla (Season 1)
Star Wars Rebels - Ezra Bridger (Season 1)
Star Wars Rebels - Agent Kallus (ISB)
Star Wars Rebels - Captain Rex
Obi-Wan Kenobi - Tala Durith (Imperial officer)
Andor - Luthen Rael
Andor - Shore Trooper (Niamos)
A New Hope - Owen Lars
A New Hope - Beru Lars
A New Hope - Sandtrooper
A New Hope - Garindan
A New Hope - Boba Fett (Docking Bay 94 deleted scene)
The Clone Wars - Asajj Ventress
Ahsoka - Captain Carson Teva
Ahsoka - Marrok
Ahsoka - Morgan Elsbeth (Sword of Talzin)
Ahsoka - Ezra Bridger (Peridea)
Skeleton Crew - Captain Brutus

OTHER
Vehicle - BARC Speeder with Kelleran Beq & Grogu
Vehicle - Luke Skywalker Landspeeder
Beast - Bantha with Tusken Raider
Multipack - Mos Eisley Cantina - Lirin Car'n, Baniss Keeg, Ellors Madak & Danz Borin
Multipack - Streets of Mos Eisley - Takeel, CZ-3, Tawws Khaa

....again, ALL SPECULATION.

Whether or not it pans out?  Who knows!  But I share Rob's point about ANDOR - I don't want just two figures, either - I WANT WAVES of ANDOR figures!  I want a streets of Ferrix playset with the Timekeeper and his beskar anvil!  I want the Imperial speeder with the cannon, as well as the Imperial Riot Troopers.  Bix, Brasso, Marva, and then touch on Aldhani as well as Narkina 5 and some of the prisoners and the workstation.  Plus more backstabbing ISB officers!

If I were to re-write that list?  I might replace one of the vehicle entries after a Micro Galaxy Squadron speeder bike wth Cassian Andor got leaked in China.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Everything eBay! Scams, questions, etc...

I'm still waiting on one of my sales to get to my buyer.  It was an international order through eBay's Global shipping program.  Destination is Quebec, Canada, so not exactly that far away.  And yet it still has not been delivered to my buyer.

Glad to see eBay has somewhat detailed tracking.  It got hung up in Customs for a few days, and then disappeared for 3 weeks.  Oh, and DHL is involved.  SMH...

The TVC deluxe Cobb Vanth is on sale now at Target for $12.49, and TVC mainline figures are on sale for $8.49... if you can find them!

The sale lasts until Christmas.

I never got any notification of shipment, and saw no updates in the FedEx app about the status of mine.  Yet it got delivered yesterday!  I think it’s possible that you may all be in the same situation.

Bought my first Black Series figure in some time last weekend - the Walmart exclusive Baylan Skoll (Mercenary).  It was on sale, and I got it along with the Micro Galaxy Squadron Ghost (which was only $15) in order to get free shipping.  Plus I really enjoyed the Baylan character.  I'm still a little disappointed in the height of the figure, but that's another matter entirely.

OMG.  I almost missed the delivery because I was picking up my daughter from school.  I caught the FedEx driver just as he was about to leave my house.

I've got to say, the service from the driver was great!  He carried the two that I ordered (1 at a time) from the truck to my garage.  And they were not kidding about the size.  The shipping box is enormous, and it weighs in at just under 50 lbs.

If I wasn't trying to get everything ready at my house for Christmas, I would be putting the Ghost together this evening.  But amazingly, Hasbro got this delivered on what was literally the last day of the Fall of 2024!

I've got to say that I'm really annoyed with either Hasbro and/or FedEx regarding the shipping situation.  The status of my shipment was lingering as LABEL CREATED for well over a week.  And then last night it updated to SET TO BE DELIVERED TOMORROW.  Really helpful in planning.

Mine is out for delivery today, and the FedEx app indicates that there's a signature requirement for delivery.  But given the situation with the tracking (or lack thereof), there seemed to be little to no time to make arrangements for this to be held at a FedEx location.  I'm working from home the majority of the time now, but there's no accounting for what time the driver will arrive, the weather, etc.

I've had success with eBay customer service when I actually get them on the phone.  It guarantees that you get a person to review your case.  Stay calm and matter of fact about the situation, and present how you have a record of good transactions.

I only ever had to get really into it with eBay about 20 years ago.  I had sold a bass guitar and the buyer was clearly a scammer.  I should have seen the red flags about how "he was out of town", and all of that bull****.  Now when I get communications from perspective buyers like that?  BLOCK.  I will not even entertain giving them the benefit of the doubt.  The sob stories.  The non-payers.  I have ZERO patience with any of them, and block them as soon as I see even a hint of a red flag.  I very nearly canceled a Sports Picks sale today because of how someone rejected a BIN counter offer, but then paid the full price for that same figure.  I was on the verge of cancelling the order and blocking him, but he explained things matter of factly.

I'm just starting to look at the tax implications from my sales this year.  I'm over the sales threhold again.  And thankfully my accountant came up with a good way to handle this.
-Deduct all of eBay's costs
-Deduct shipping materials
-Calculate original values as closely as you can and subtract it from the net sales
-Categorize the sale as a capital gain like on an investment.  It's a lower tax rate than if you classify it as income.
