Watto's Junk Yard / New Atari 2600 game - Star Castle!
« on: April 27, 2012, 10:43 AM »
Besides collecting star wars figures my other hobby is collecting video games and consoles.

Atari was working on a version of Star Castle for the Atari 2600 but it never got finished.  D. Scott Williamson was an Atari employee back in the late 80's. He recently took on the challenge of designing a new version of the arcade game Star Castle for the Atari 2600. He has a kickstarter project going right now. For a donation you get the ROM and the Stella emulator to run it. For more, you get the actual cartridge!

Go check out this project on Kickstarter.  http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/698159145/atari-2600-star-castle

Star Wars Universe / Darth Malgus - an Old Republic Vader?
« on: April 13, 2012, 12:52 PM »
I'm looking at the Darth Malgus figure and he looks alot like Darth Vader minus the upper helmet. If Darth Malgus has the same body damage as Vader, why does General Grevious have to live in a robot suit? General Grevious was suppost to be a prototype Vader. Now we see a thousand years before, the Old Republic had the technology to make a more Vader-like life support system.  It seems to me that Grevious should have looked more like Vader with multiple arms. Why did Grevious get the shaft on technology? Did Grevious have a HMO?

General Rieekan is the oldest figure on the shelves of our local RiteAid in Chino Hills, CA. His current list price is $12.99. Will keep updating this thread until he sells. Currently he has been there for six years and no clearance in sight!

Star Wars Action Figures / Padme custom restoration
« on: February 3, 2012, 10:31 PM »
I recently got around to unpacking my custom figures for a new shelf in the office. One of the figures I did was Battle Arena Padme. I made her from a Microlady and used latex for her clothes. She originally looked like this:

Now she looks like this:

All of the latex is desolving into one gooie mess. It's like her clothes are melting off.

My plan is to restore her. Any suggestions?

The Original Trilogy / Long construction of the first Death Star
« on: January 27, 2012, 11:30 AM »
At the end of ROTS, we see Vader standing on the bridge of a Star Destroyer looking at the framework of the first Death Star. It took the entire clone wars to build it that far. Twenty years later the Death Star is finished. Why did it take so long to build? It seems to me that it should have only taken a few more years. Why did the Rebel Alliance completely ignore the building of this Death Star for twenty years? How could the Empire keep it a complete secret for that long?

Watto's Junk Yard / Age old question - What do you want for Christmas?
« on: November 25, 2011, 02:10 PM »
Every year my wife asks me what I want for Christmas. I respond with things like certain vintage star wars stuff or certain figures or ships. Or I might respond with certain vintage video game carts or systems or certain programming books. Of course non of this stuff is ever available in real stores. No matter what I ask for I'm told that is stuff you can buy for yourself. What is stuff she can actually find and buy for me?

Do you guys have this problem? People ask what you want for Christmas but never want to buy those kinds of things you ask for?

So what are some good things the average Star Wars geek could get for Christmas even if he already owns a comb?

The Original Trilogy / R5-D4 doesn't blow
« on: November 15, 2011, 02:16 PM »
Ok. That title sounds bad. But what would have happen if R5-D4 didn't blow is motavator? I've heard stories that Yoda was involved via the Force.
