Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Enjoy The Next Few Days
« on: May 20, 2005, 08:09 PM »
Yeah.  I'm feeling kind of bummed too,  I had a great time on Wednesday night and Thursday with a good friend who came up to NY from NC, but he's gone home now.

The fact that Star Wars is "over," combined with the lonliness that I am feelling becuase my son (that I have been taking care of since January) has started daycare, has really put me in funk.  On one hand it's good because I can work full time again and my wife and I can spend more time together, but I miss the little guy during the day, and now I'm going to miss the Skywalker family.

While I'm  curious about the TV shows, I admit that I'm skeptical of them.  I'm afraid they'll be SW without the spectacle, and that doesn't interest me.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Post your ROTS reviews and thoughts!

"things that should have been changed...skipping things from book and graphic novels'

This type of comment always drives me nuts.  The book and the graphic novels are SPIN-OFFS of the movie.  They are crud created to make money.  The film is the first and last word.  If Lucas doesn't put it in the movie, it isn't important to the movie.

"The birth of Vader seemed extremely rushed, and tarnished the lore of how Vader came to be, having been condensed to a 15 second building scene..."

Wow.  I saw the whole movie as being the birth of Vader.  The point was that Vader was not the suit, but a guy who made some lousy, selfish choices.

Overall?  I loved it.  It really, really sucked me in. Finallly a prequesl film that I won't have to defend all summer!

Other Collectibles / Re: Attakus Star Wars Dioramas

See how easy it is to please us?  Just think, if Hasbro made these EXACT same sets, but out of plastic, and sold them for $100-120, we'd all be going crazy!

Attackus knew exactly what they were doing by making these to the Hasbro figure scale.  In a way, I'm surprised Lucasfilm let them.

You know, I'll have to see what else is coming out next year...maybe my completist days are over, and my "high-end" days are coming.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: More Target Exclusives?
« on: May 8, 2005, 07:50 PM »
I hava a crummy story about the Traget Clone...I went to Target on Saturday night around 9:00 to get some formula for the baby.  Naturally, I look to see if there are any new figures, or even the exclusive.  Jackpot!  I find #37-44 inclusing the SA Clone. I saw no exclusives.  Anyway, after  getting the baby's stuff, I head to checkout.  I would never consider shopping on a Saturday night a family event, but I guess many do.  The place was mobbed.  Each register was abut 10 carts deep.

After 15 minutes in line, I buy all of my stuff and head out.  On my way to the doors I spot carts full of returns, and a Target Clone sitting on top.  I look at the lines again.  They're just too long to wait in again.  I stand there for a moment and try to figure out what to do.  Honestly, I considered trying to walk out with it.  But I chucked it back on the returns and went home.

So, maybe I'll never have one, but I have my dignity!! ;D

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS Nemoidian Soldier

That illustration is done from a still from the set of E3.  In fact, I think it was one of the firts E3 images that Lucasfilm published. The comic guys get photos very early for their work.  I'm sure the illo was published before the photo.  Remember, the movie was shot in the summer of 2003.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Neimodian Army

"I like that Lucas ran with an EU design on these that was established, rather than establishing his own idea on them."

These guys were from the EU?  The only image that I had seen of them prior to the film were from comics that had been drawn after the movie was shot in 2003.

Would love to know more.

Anyway, these figures look neat, but the big goofy un-holdable gun just about blows it for me.  Who knows, maybe I'll give him Tion Meddons rifle.

Revenge of the Sith / "Classic Character"
« on: May 2, 2005, 05:34 PM »
Fisrt off, I think Hasbro has done a great job with the initial 40 figures, and the distribution.  It seems easy to find almost any major character at the moment.  This is good for kids and families that are looking for Obi-Wan and Vader and Yoda.

Last week, I into a kid and his parents looking through the ROTS figures for Luke Skywalker.  I told the that Luke wasn't in the new movie, and that he wasn't included in the current figures.  The kid seemed a little bummed out.

In retrospect ,I wonder if  Hasbro should have included a Luke, Han and Leia in the ROTS collection.  On their bubble, where other figures say "Jedi Master", their's would say "Classic Character."

Any takers?

Saga Collection '06 / Re: 2007
« on: April 30, 2005, 06:19 AM »
I'm sure hasbro is jumping up and down with happiness that there will be 2 Star Wars TV shows soon.  Television shows move a lot more toys than movies do.  TV creates a permanent visibility for the license, as opposed to 4-5 months every 3 years.

Sure, there will be lots of fgures from the TV shows, but the shows will also keep the films alive.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: C3 Hasbro Q & A
« on: April 22, 2005, 05:50 PM »
The more I think about it, the more the "slim to none" comment angers me.  Obi-Wan delivering Luke will become an iconic inage within the series, and ties the two trilogies together.  If Hasbro doesn't make the babies in some form, I will be really put off.

Revenge of the Sith / C3 Hasbro Q & A
« on: April 22, 2005, 03:24 PM »
I was reading a summery of this over at another site, and it was just so negative.  Essentially Hasbro won't tell us what's in the future, but they will tell us that the chance of getting an Obi-Wan figure with baby Luke is "slim to none."  Depressing.

No Biggs.

No Tonnika sisters.

No big vehicles.

No small vehicles...

No, they're not just VOTC clamshells.  That have an arc acros the top.  The VOTC were straight across.  These look nice, but I open everything.  Funny to se Hasbro admitting many people don't "play" with SW toys.

It's official!  That shot of Obi-Wan dropping onto the Boga in "Unite"  is my absolute favorite shot in the PT!  It's funny, exciting, super cool, and everything I look for in Star Wars!!

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Anyone else clean up the SW toy sections?
« on: April 12, 2005, 11:24 PM »
During Midnight Madness, I was chatting with a TRU manager, and I asked he if she thought customers who cleaned up a toy aisle were nuts.  She said "No.  In fact, I usually ask them what they are looking for, and if I have it in back, I'll get it!"
