Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: Animated Wave 4 (and beyond)?
« on: February 23, 2005, 11:30 PM »
I'm excited about more of these also.  Just curious, are the Red, Blue and Yellow clones that hard to find?  I've fround the red and blue often, but the yellow one only once.

If people are really lookin' for these, maybe I can pick some up.

From the Hasbro Q&A..." So, are there more CLONE WARS toys on tap? The answer is a resounding YES! While we can't offer any specific details about individual products, Hasbro informs us that there will be new, animated CLONE WARS toys hitting the shelves in mid to late March. Additionally, be on the lookout for a special CLONE WARS promotion with WAL*MART."

Mid March?  And we haven't seen anything yet?  That's really odd.  I'm hoping it pans out, I really like the anmated figure line.

Wow.  That's alot of taxes!

Anyway, yeah...Star Wars is awesome.

Personally, I don't want the figures to leak early.  Can you imagine what a drag it would be if Hasbro didn't set a street date, and the figures just started popping up a little heere and a litle there?  Many of us would go nuts trying to find them as soon as possiblem and getting each one that you wanted would be a royal pain.

Just a side note, in 1983, as Jedi was approaching it's release date, my dad drove me to TRU to look for the new figures.  I found a whole, big case (32?  64?) that had just been opened.  When I asked my dad how many we could buy, he said, with a smile, "Get one of each.  I don't want to be driving around for the next few weeks trying to track them all down."

14% Tax isn't so bad when you have national Health Care.  (You do have national Health Care?)

Revenge of the Sith / Re: The Mustafar Playset...

Y'know, it looks like there is a round section of the playset, (halfway down, on the left) that looks like a little lava pool made of foam.  It looks to be the same feature that the vintage Dagobah had.  You can stick the figure into the foam and pretend that he is sinking.

I'm usually excited about Toy Fair, but we really have seen so much that I can't imagine anything new there.  Maybe they will show the large X-Mas toys (Turbo Tank) and later figures, but we've been spoilt this year!

"...why would the rest of his skin be a blue-gray color, but just the face white?"

Whay do the Jawas eyes glow?

Why does Yoda have giant ears?

Why does Ree-Yees have three eyes?

Why is Taun We so skinny?

Um...maybe becuase it's an alien from a galaxy far, far away... ;D

Since the figure on the card has no hole, I think that this must have been some sort of production process scar.  These look like very early hand painted prototypes.  Who knows.  I can do without  it.

I'm not too bothered by the action feature, I just wish that the figure was more posable.  It looks like it's one solid piece.

Wow! These are some seriously cool figures.  And finally, some "new" figures, not just E3 versions of background Jedi.   I love all the clone troops.  I just wish that the Seperatist army was made up of more than droids we've seen before.

I'm hoping that after ROTS Hasbro continues with smaller amounts of figures, but with this high quality...

Please excuse my losy typing these days, it's done mostly with a 4 month old in one arm!---Mike

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Hasbro Article, CNN/Money
« on: February 8, 2005, 10:34 PM »
In the long run, I have no sympathy for Hasbro is they consider Star Wars a failure.  While much of the collector driven prodeuct that has come out has been great, the mainstream toys (figures, ships) that hit when the movies come out are generally pretty crummy as TOYS.  They fall apart, the weapons break, the action features don't work, and the figures don't interact well with the vehicles.

I can think of a dozen reasons why Hasbro has been less than succesful with Star Wars, but put simply, they haven't made great toys.

These do all look very nice, but am I the only one that feels the selction of characters is redundant of E2?
Out of the 4 preview figures, 12 collection 1 and 12 Collection 2 figures, there are only 6 (Tion, Tarful, Obi-Wan's Droid, Grevious,  his Body Guard and Mon Mothma) NEW characters.  I'm sure there will be plenty of cool things in the flick, but there's just no sign of them here.  It feels like an exact duplicate of the initial Saga waves.

I really wis the Jedi had been slighty armoured up (like Obi-Wan in the cartoon) during the Clone Wars.  It would have made the time when they were at war stand out from their day-to-day clothes.

Um...Y'know, it just occured to me that when this ship hits retail, there will be no pilot for it.  Anikin won't be due until  a few eeks later.  Only Hasbro could do somthing that careless.
