The Wookiee Arcade / Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
« on: November 7, 2011, 05:51 PM »
Apparently Lucas Arts is taking the hacking of Sony's Playstation network very seriously.  They've put out this statement today regarding network security and the protection of SWTOR personal user information.

Quote
As we prepare to launch Star Wars™: The Old Republic™, we want to ensure that your account and personal information are as secure as possible. To that end, we have begun implementing new security features within StarWarsTheOldRepublic.com that are designed to protect you. This process includes a refresh of our password security requirements. To make sure that all accounts comply with our new security measures, members of the Star Wars: The Old Republic community who created accounts on StarWarsTheOldRepublic.com on or before October 21st, 2011 will be required to reset their password in order to meet with these new standards. Those members who created an account after October 21st, 2011 will not receive an email and do not need to update their passwords.

Over the next few weeks, we will be sending out emails to everyone who created an account on or before October 21st, 2011 to notify them that their password must be reset. You do not need to take any action prior to receiving an email.

When you create your new password, ensure that it meets the following criteria: the password must be 8-16 characters long and use at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter and one number. The more variety that you use in your password, the stronger your password will be.

Just like any other user account you have, changing your The Old Republic password on a regular basis is one of the simple measures you can take to protect your personal information. Another way to ensure a secure account is to get the official custom branded Security Authentication Key, available in the Star Wars: The Old Republic Collector’s Edition. The Collector’s Edition is still available in limited quantities at select retailers. Watch for more information on other ways to obtain The Old Republic Security Key soon!

Your Star Wars: The Old Republic account credentials are linked to EA.com and Origin.com, so your new password will be applied across all three websites. If you have any difficulties in updating your password, please contact our Customer Service team who’ll be happy to assist you.

TV-9D9 / Re: The Clone Wars - Season Four Discussion Thread

We're definitely seeing the hardening of the Clones as they were mopping up some of the Umbarans.  The way they were very cavalier about shooting the damaged caterpiller tanks, and then the wounded Umbaran absolutely illustrated that.

There was also one shot of Krell surveying the battlefield, with yellow eyes and flames reflected in them.  It made me wonder if he's somehow been turned to the Dark Side.

I also liked the slight bit of foreshadowing, as Krell was talking to "Sergeant" Appo.  And the reserve troops that were hanging back with him seemed to have unit markings that were much more like the 501st from ROTS.

Well articulated versions of the Nexu and Reek would be cool.  I always thought that the Nexu was far too preposed, and a creature that's so cat-like should be pretty well articulated.  Ideally I'd love to see it come with one of the execution columns that it could climb.

The Reek is kind of the same deal.  There should be some decent leg articulation so that you can get it running.  And arena versions of Anakin, Obi-Wan and Padme with ball jointed hips that allow them to ride the Reek would be great companion pieces.

I thought it was a cool offering when WalMart had that as an exclusive.  But I think Hasbro's relentless Sandtrooper offerings may have soured the market for a Sandtrooper & Dewback.  I can understand them trying to get some value out of the new Dewback sculpt by trying to re-purpose it for Episode I.  But since the Dewback wasn't associated with any particular character in TPM it does seem a little shameless on Hasbro's part.

The Dewback IS coming back, but without a Sandtrooper.  It was part of the display at NY Comic Con and will be offered in the new Darth Maul themed packaging.

The Vintage Collection / Re: Repaint of Graxol Kelvyyn?

I actually wound up picking up several Watto's Box cinema scenes when they got clearanced.  And it was primarily because Graxol Kelvyyn was such an awesome figure.  I always thought that this figure could have been re-purposed for a comic 2-pack to depict the Anx Jedi padawan, Theen Fida, from JEDI COUNCIL - ACTS OF WAR.  But the figure might have proved to be too tall for a comic 2-pack's packaging.

It's such a beautiful location.  And it's very cool to see that Peter Jackson is encouraging this kind of reporting from the set.

It's funny how much creedence whatever Stan says is given at otheR places.  Sometimes it does seem like he throws a bunch of s**t at a wall, and hopefully some of it will stick.  And there's always this caveat he offers up that "things are always changing from Hasbro" which is used to seperate himself from his prognostications.

Personally, I think that his account may very well be used by someone within Hasbro in order to send up trial balloons in a forum setting so that the Star Wars team can conduct some market research.  But it also seems like something that can be used to stir the proverbial pot, too.

I suspect that Anakin was recalled specifically so that Palpatine could place Krell in command of the 501st.  Give them a poor Jedi commander in order to build animosity between that Clone unit and the Jedi in general.  But have Anakin come back and save the day and the 501st.  Elevate Anakin specifically in the eyes of the troopers of the 501st, so that when Order 66 comes down they will continue to be loyal to Anakin, but prepared to take out any other Jedi.

That is after all, one of the more significant hanging plot points of ROTS.  Why would Clone Troopers eliminate every Jedi in their proximity, but not Anakin Skywalker?  How would the troops of the 501st be privy to Anakin's switch in allegiance?

Battle packs at TRU are marked down to $15.99 as part of the current sale.  That sale ends today.  I saw the 2 for $12.99 sign for the figures, but there really wasn't anything worth getting at the store I went to.  Just a bunch of TVC wave 5.

One episode of Krell and his dismissive attitude towards the Clone Troopers is pretty telling.  He seems to be a plot device whereby the Clones will grow to mistrust the Jedi.  The past 3 seasons have shown Jedi like Anakin and Obi-Wan developing good relationships with their clone troops, but this Umbara campaign looks like a turning point.  And I can only wonder if something may happen to one of the key Clone troopers we've grown attached to in the course of this story arc.

Agreed.  I can see how local marketing reps would work their way through stores in order to manually clear out some old stock.  But when those chains have backstock of older figures in their warehouses, then it's a more substantial problem.

I found vintage B-Wing pilot and Rebel Fleet Trooper at KMart today.

The "Revenge" figures on the pegs were Luke Jedi, Admiral Ackbar, and Keyan Farlander.

Found much the same at a K-Mart yesterday.  Scored Ponda Baba, Farlander and a Rebel Fleet Trooper.  Saw Revenge versions of Ackbar, Vader & Jedi Luke.  Also found "Return" versions of Logray and Wicket.

Yeah, I found at least 3 cases of Wave 6 at a store today.  It's definitely frustrating.  But I made up for that by finding the TVC tauntaun today, too.  Not happy about that price tag though.
