Wow. Gone in less than 15 minutes?
Gone in just minutes from what I saw on FB. I have to say, I think we've gone from bad worse with the pre-order craze these days. Used to be there was no stock at stores, but eventually new stuff would come in and people would find out in forums or brickseek. Or you could order it in stock online eventually. Now it feels like everything is pre-order and it all sells out immediately, so constantly feeling like I have missed out. Then half the pre-orders seem to get cancelled or filled after things hit retail, so even when you are successful in filling the order, you don't necessarily win. I missed the Amazon and Pulse pre-orders yesterday because I didn't put it on the calendar and arrived 30 minutes late. If a 30 minute window from release is always going to be too late, then something is clearly broken with the model. Is anyone actually happy with this system?
I have also gotten spoiled with free shipping, so looking at Wrecker for $40 with shipping and tax is not super appealing to me. He was still up on Best Buy and a few other sites yesterday, but I decided to wait given the overall price point.
Then I found myself with a few extra minutes after dropping my daughter off at VB, so I swung by the local Gamestop. I asked the clerk about pre-orders and decided to order Wrecker ship-to-store for $5 down. No added shipping and I guess Gamestop is as reliable as anyone else's preorders these days. Not a bad option if anyone is holding off for the free shipping option. Betting you could even call to pre-order it over the phone, but I didn't see a ship-to-store option for this on the GS site.
