I'm seeing Wave 10 more frequently now.  In the last week I saw some at one Wal Mart on a Saturday afternoon (everything but Man-Bat), I caught the full set at a WM down the street Monday morning, then saw another full set this morning.  They appear to be taking a big hit on eBay (down below $150 a set now), so that's a good sign that they're actually making it to more stores like Mattel had promised.  Good thing, because it's a hell of a wave and not one that DC fans will want to be without.

Got Scareglow and He-Man ordered within seconds this afternoon.  Smoothest yet!

Then I found DCUC 10 in full on my lunch break.  :)

Guardian and Electro are hanging around several places here.  If you need them I can try to get them for you.

That's an awesome score getting the 2-pack for $17!  Did you get the red/blue Goliath or the yellow/blue one?  We have several red/blue around here but I haven't seen a yellow/blue yet.

So there was a third series of Combat Heroes?

WTF...I had no idea these even existed.  Anyone see them at retail?

Other Toy Lines / How do you display varying sized figures?
« on: November 8, 2009, 05:21 PM »
OK, I keep going back and forth so I thought I'd bring this up as a topic of discussion.  When it comes to Marvel and DC, I collect the gamut when it comes to sizes.  I limit the characters I collect (females for Marvel, females and Batman villains for DC) but I have the small stuff like the Infinite Heroes and Marvel Universe and also items as tall as the 13" DC Direct figures, Marvel Icons and even Comiquettes for Marvel.  I can't seem to find the right display combinations though.  At first I displayed by character, but I didn't like having the larger items with the smaller items.  I then went by series/size, but when I did that I got a few characters or lines that only had one or two examples and they seemed disconnected from the rest of the display.

One thing I have determined is that I don't like mixing statues and action figures for the most part.  If it's a larger line (like the Women of the DC Universe busts or Marvel Comiquettes) I group them by series, then one-offs or smaller lines I do by character.  That seems to work pretty well.  I'm trying to get a good balance with figures, try different things out and see what I like, but in the meantime I thought I'd see what other people that collect varying sized figures did.

I finally got around to doing reviews on Teela and Zodak.

TEELA

ZODAK

I had some really, REALLY ****** luck with my Zodak paint.  Didn't even occur to me until I'd opened it that part of his armor paint was completely misaligned.  :(  I'm hoping I can get an exchange but I don't know how good MattyCollector's customer service is.  Guess we'll see.  It's too bad, because otherwise Zodak is a great looking figure.  And Teela is fantastic...possibly my favorite of the bunch so far.

FINALLY found some wave 10.  I went on a big run this morning and found two Power Girls (but nothing else) at one.  Went on another mini-run on lunch and found PG, Joker and Batman.  I'm officially DONE making ridiculous runs looking for these things.  I'd like the other four but they're not that important (except Man-Bat, which I might ended up getting from eBay because I'm sicking wasting so much time and gas looking for them).

I decided to take a trip by a Marshall's & TJ Maxx on the way home.  The Marshall's had one each of #3 and #4, so I'm all set with #4 now.  Just need #5 if anyone happens to find one.

If anyone sees #4 and #5 (I think those are the ones with Quick Kick and Alpine) I need those two and would pay a few extra bucks for your troubles.  Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

The $6 Joes seem to be widespread, which is good because Wal Marts are all pretty stocked up here.

People are being whiny little bitches on Facebook as well.  Understandable to an extent to have a little frustration, but people are going overboard.

For the record my stuff is getting delivered Thursday and I'm a non-subscriber.  :)

No shocker, but Raven has been announced as the Fan Poll winner.  She'll come in wave 15.  Sweet.  :)

Good insight guys, thanks.  I've always been of an opposite mindset, but it's good to hear where others opinions land.   I guess my initial opinion came from the Toy Biz Marvel Legends. You look at the likes of Warbird and see "40 points of articulation", and it's clear that, to them, a double jointed elbow was two points, a swivel-hinge shoulder was two, etc, etc.  I've adopted that mindset as well but certainly see the other side of it.

I'm finally seeing the Charbroil wave show up at Gordman's stores.  They've been the first to get this wave and the Doctor wave in my area.

Also saw the new 12" figures at a Wal Mart the other day.  Honestly I had no idea these were coming out.  I know they're cheapo figures, but I actually kind of like them.  I did a review if anyone's interested.

These look really nice, but I just can't see a lot of people paying $9 a head for them.  Depending on how good the movie is I might pick some up if they get put on clearance or if there are some *really* good sales.  Otherwise I'll probably pass.
