TV-9D9 / Re: A BSG-style Star Wars TV show?
« on: October 27, 2006, 04:49 PM »
You got a point about the NJO, they are totally dark and depressing. As I readed them, I just keep thinking how sad the entire thing was. That's why I stoped reading them.

Maybe the prefect tone for star wars tv should be like later episodes of star trek TNG? Something along the lines of  the Enterprise meet the Borg for the first time. I just hope they don't make it JarJar silly just to get kids or romantically stupid like the Love Boat or the OC just to get teenage girls in the mix.

I guess it all depends on the audiance LFL is looking for. If they go for kids and selling toys, they should go with a movie-like version of the show that is family friendly. Unfortunately, this will let out most of the original generation of star wars fans that are looking for something darker in the style of BSG.  As I remember that was the main complaint agaist the prequals in that they wheren't dark enough. (ie Matrix, LOTRs, etc)

Those are excellent paints too. GW has lots of different shades and is great for small detail work.

I just got a lead! :D

Hello!  The exhibitor information is just being finalized and should be on the website by next week.  I can also mail you a packet if you send me your address.  Thanks!  There may be fan booths but those will be handled by Mary Franklin.

I'vd asked for the exhibitor information and emailing Mary Franklin about fan booths. Keep your fingers crossed.

Well tickets go on sale finally for C4 on Oct 30th but there is absolutely no information for exhibitors anywhere on any gencon of LFL site. Still trying to get a hold of someone.

TV-9D9 / A BSG-style Star Wars TV show?
« on: October 25, 2006, 03:57 PM »
I've been wondering what your opinion would be if the Star Wars TV show ended up being a realistic gritty drama much like the new Battlestar Galatica. Would this be a good thing or should it mimic the style and feeling of the movies?

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Battlestar Galactica...who's watching?

That was a great episode. I can so see Balter becoming a '70s version Baltar now (working actively with the Cylons) but I think he will eventually turn back around and save the day in a big way in the future.

I liked the part when Kacey's mom shows up and thanks Starbuck for finding her. The look on Starbuck's face was priceless. I could almost hear Nelson from the Simpsons go "HA! HA!"

This show makes me wonder. Will the Star Wars TV show be realistic feeling and gritty with a lot of drama like the new BSG or will it be like the movies (cheap laughs, fast action and bad dialog)?

I love Tamiya Acrylic. I use it exclusively for all my customs. The only problem is the smell of paints makes my wife instantly throw up. So its been hard to get more painting done.  :-\ I can't wait until this kid is born, then I can get back to painting.

I commented on it. I thought it was a great start to this huge tower and is definately going to be the focal point of the entire diorama. Have you added to it recently? How about the riviting on the sides and other details?

I think we need a section on the web site for babies born during the project.

Congratulations Pat! That's great news as well and a really cool web site. I love those drawings. Chewie, I really think if your wife has a boy he should be named Lumpy. (at least online  ;))

Sorry for sounding grouchy. My wife is having a really difficult  pregnancy and its wearing on me. She's due Dec 12th but she wants to schedule it a little earlier. Ya know, after adopting the first two and then getting pregnant with the third, we prefer adoption. This hasn't been fun. You can read my wife's journal here.

Anyway, no response today from LFL or Gencon but I'm only down to the third circle of bureaucratic hell. Six more to go.  In fact, they haven't even released information about paying exhibitors booths or general ticket sales yet. This information was supposed to be available two months ago.  I really am starting to wonder if they know what they are doing. Maybe Sansweet forgot to sell tickets and is wondering why no one is planning on attending?

In the mean time, the web site needs to take priority. If you can't program in html, I would suggest try designing some banner graphics or buttons or even a general layout using a pencil and paper would be helpful. We also need some general text describing the project and what sections we should include. All of these things pretty much anyone can do without knowing html.

If you guys really need to know the size of the diorama, I would assume a 10x20 table as our standard. We will make cuts later if needed but just assume we have a booth that will hold this and go from there.

Celebration IV - Ultimate Group Project / UGP Web site design help
« on: October 23, 2006, 04:01 PM »
We are in desparate need to get the UGP web site up and running ASAP. I'm having difficulty dealing with the LFL and Gencon burocracy and I need to show them something besides a series of threads on two web sites. I would suggest that all work stop on diorama and figure design and we put all of our efforts toward getting this site up and running. All we really need is a main page with a description and pictures of our work in progress buildings and prototypes.

I know what you mean Greg. When I get home, I take care of the kids, get them bathed, homework, bedtime since my wife is having an extreemly difficult time with this pregency. It's hard to concentrate on something as trivel as UGP when the you love is in constant pain and there isn't anything I can do  to help.

Anyway, we desperately need to get this web site up and running even if it is just a page describing with it is and some concept pictures. This would help termendously with my fight with LFL and Gencon.

Dressel Rebel since you have unlimited amounts of time, may be you can design us a web site for our site. The domain is ready it just needs to be filled.

Look to the leader.  Or recent lack thereof.  Not naming names or reasons, that's all I'm saying.

But an astute observation nonetheless.

Actually, I'm extreemly active in this project. My style is to work behind the scenes thru my group leaders. I'm in the process of getting my local group together for setup and I'm currently dealing with the Lucasfilm and Gencon berucracy about getting us a booth for free. NOT EASY!  I'm coming up with prototype web site designs. All of this and dealing with two kids, a pregant wife and the huge rollout of a multi-million dollar software program. Just because I don't post responses to every post doesn't mean I'm not doing things.

Now if you would like to HELP make this project a sucess instead of just bitching and whining, you let me know. I do have work for you to do.  >:(
