I know I'm hooked when, on the road, I eye Wal-Mart tractor trailer trucks suspiciously, knowing that cases of the latest wave are on them.

I'm a big PKD (Philip K Dick) fan, so I'm there.  Hopefully its better than Minority Report (which wasn't terrible).

I didn't see Richard Linklater's other animated film, what was that, the Waking Life?  So I don't know what to think of this style.

This is a great story though - right in the midst of one of PKD's breakdowns when he was doing too much speed.

Death of a Salesman was really affecting when I read it in high school, as was the Crucible. There's a version of Death of a Salesman with Dustin Hoffman which is just devastating in the depiction of Willy Loman.

Interesting relationship with Marilyn too.

All my best to Scott as well. He always stands out as top-notch, even for a fair weather poster like me.  Him and....1 or 2 of you other guys.   :-*

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: **** UPN- 'Enterprise' cancelled.
« on: February 3, 2005, 12:48 PM »
I watched it, yeah, its not totally unexpected that it would be cancelled.  I really gave it a chance, liked the characters, and saw some great episodes, but its been hard keeping a solid interest in it because of some of the decisions. Archer, though I like the actor and parts of his character, just did so many things out of character of a  Starfleet captain.  I wouldn't be surprised if more people are glad to see this go than are supporting it.  I'd still give it another season, but, whatev.

The Spike and Darlas were released yesterday, and made their way first to the comic shops.  I'm going to wait a bit for cheaper on line prices.  Amazon isn't too bad:

Spike (see links to Darlas)

Heheh, at first I thought this was a Deanpaul style gag, because all I got at the site was horizontal fields - one white and one beige. Nice!  Then i was able to install flash on this work machine (using Firefox), and now I can see.  All in all, its fun to look at! (then again, I'm not speedily trying to find any information.)

So that's my first critique - the site needs alternative navigation!  Users could possible have multiple computer setups and abilities.  I'm actually lucky I could install flash, because at work, the sheer bureacracy of IT prevents me from installing all kinds of things, or is just left out by default.  The designers should consider this.  Their target audience could be on the ball and tech savvy, but may not have access to the full capability of the site for any number of reasons. Maybe they just got a new laptop from work that  was never fully set up. Maybe they had to use a Win 98 machine from a certain facility. Whatever the reason, this site needs the barebones html navigation.

The horizontal slidebar - this stuff is fun to see, but if I were looking for quick info, I'd quickly get impatient.  One tweak - When mousing over the slide bar menu, I naturally drop down to the next row with the little blue line.  That instantly snaps the bar back to the left, so its jarring. I think that moving that horizontal slidebar down into that row, and even beyond, a few millimeters into the blurry orange field would be effective.   Your fist move is to put the mouse in the orange field anyway, so catching onto the slidebar navigation this way would be that much quicker.

Oh man, these look so much better than the MAC Lorne, in my opinion.  And the "No Place Like" Lorne's head comes off!  I like the red and yellow jackets better than that white though.

Darlas and Spikes should hit next week, as the comic store release date is 2/2.  I haven't pre-ordered either. I may wait for them to get in stock at Tower Records.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Top 5 Hotties
« on: January 27, 2005, 08:49 AM »
I just watched Chronicles of Riddick (damn fun movie, BTW) and witnessed a beauty by the names of Alexa Davalos.  She's not really caught on yet I guess, because it's not easy to find pics of her.  The best I could find:

If you can watch her as "Gwen" in the few episodes of Angel she was in, dressed like that, I'd highly recommend it!

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: 2005 - What are you watching?
« on: January 21, 2005, 10:18 AM »
In current rotation:

Sunday: Simpsons (somtimes) - Its not must see anymore for me
              If yes, then Arrested Development

Monday: not sure, hopefully nothing

Tuesday: not sure, hopefully nothing

Wedensday: Alias
                     Smallville
All right, this night got big, I think there's something else too

Thursday: Point Pleasant - This series just started and I'm giving it a chance.

Friday: Battlestar Galactica - I'll start taping if I'm not home
Enterprise - I've got to check when this is on. I'll tape.

Saturday: No tv!  Well, if I'm home, I'll watch a Netflix movie.

Syndication:

I'll still watch a Buffy, Angel, Simpsons, or TV Land occasionally. Some skits on Krank Yankers. Various documentaries I'll watch on the History Channel or PBS. Watched some of an MLK documentary last monday.  Man, I forget about all the riots.

After football season, I'm usually open until March Madness and then baseball.
