Title: Night Owl or Early Bird?
Post by: JesseVader08 on April 14, 2006, 05:38 AM
Do you stay up until the wee hours of the night, or are you an early riser?

Based on the time I'm starting this thread, obviously I'm a night owl.  ;)  I don't really wake up until at least noon --  I absolutely hate mornings.

I'm both actually... I usually am up 'til midnight and wake up around 4 a.m.

I've never really needed much sleep.

I am a nightowl from way back.  I could stay up until the wee hours of the morning.  That is my favorite time.  Unfortunately my little ones are early birds ::)

Early bird.  Even before I had Aidan, I was up between 5:30 and 6, even on weekends.

I also have a tendency to stay up late and then wake up early...

Must be something in the Minnesota water I guess.  ;)

Those sleeping habits will certainly serve you well when the boys arrive later this summer ;)  You're way ahead of the game............ :)

Night owl.I have kids. They sleep in really good on weekends ;D

8 years ago I worked a 'grave shift' for a couple years and loved it! Unfortunately, now I'm on dayshift and got to bed between 2200 and 0100. Weekends/non-worknights I got to bed later..I know my kids won't be up until between 0900 and 1100 ;)

Night owl. I don't go to bed until 3 or 4 AM. Then I have to be up at 8 for class.  :P

It's any wonder I sleep for twelve hours on Sunday morning. I usually don't get up until 1 PM on Sunday.

I'm absolutely a night owl. Living with Mom & Dad, the only true peace and quiet I get all day is after about 11 PM, when they go to bed and I have the house all to myself.

During the week I go to bed between 12-2 AM, and arise about 8 AM. On the weekend, it's all over the map, but typically I'm up later and sleep until 11 AM or so.

There goes your theory, Jeff. ;)

When I was guarding flight lines, I worked a 6PM to 6AM shift.  So make of that what you want.  Usually though, even as a kid, I was up until 1100 or so and out of bed no later than 7.   Many years later, I'm in bed on weeknights by 1030 and out of bed at 430.  I guess I'm a an early bird.

When i was in the military, I was a night owl by necessity, flight line guard duty from 6PM-6AM.

Now days, I'm usually in bed on weeknights by 11 and out of bed by 5AM.  Friday night, I go to bed when I don't feel like video games anymore, usually betwen 12-1Am.

Vampire.  I like my bed, especially in the morning.  I've been like that since I was a small kid.  Other kids would talk about watching Saturday morning cartoons and I'd always sleep through them.  If I could work noon-8 I would but life ain't like that.  Probably go to bed most nights around 1 am, fall asleep by 2.  Up by 7 during the week.  Depending on how well I've treated the wife during the week, she lets me sleep as late as 11 on the weekend.  She on the other hand is an early to bed, early to rise type.  Blech.

Working in a restaurant/bar for eight years did nothing to help.  I'd start work at 4, finish at 2 and then we'd go out and party.  I remember many times coming in the door as my dad was going out to work.  I'd get up around 2-3.  Oh, those were glorious days.

I'm a night owl by nature -- like Brent I stayed up late and slept past noon -- even as a kid.  In my 20s I would stay up until 4 or 5 am and sleep until 2:00pm on the weekends.  When I started working I still stayed up until 1:00 or 2:00.  I would come home from work at 6:00 and nap until around 8:00pm.

Having young children have completely changed that around for me -- I am at the mercy of their schedules.  Even though they now sleep through the night, I find that I can't sleep past 6 or 7 am, even on the weekends >:(

i am not sure how you guys who only get 3-4 hours/night do that.   for a while i was going to bed at midnight and getting up at 4 and i was constantly struggling to stay awake on my commute and if i sat down to watch tv i would fall asleep immediately.

my goal is to go to bed at 11pm and get up at 6.  most of the time that doesn't happen.

I am one of those people who get out of bed early and am wound up tighter-than-a-drum by the time I hit the office.  I'm loud and happy and full of energy and the most annoying person that I can be (or so I am repeatedly told).  When the clock strikes 9pm, I feel like I am going to turn into a pumpkin.  I have a hard time staying up to watch LOST (but I do) so I am the happy-go-lucky-early-bird  :D
