Saw a post on Yakface (https://yakfaceforums.com/main/2021/06/16/hasbro-announces-amazon-exclusive-tvc-bad-batch-4-pk/) pointing to Bantha Skull (https://www.banthaskull.com/story/news-hasbro-star-wars-fan-celebration-product-reveal-the-bad-batch-figure-4-pack) that details a Bad Batch 4-pack exclusive to Amazon.
$60 preorders are today at 1PM ET.
You get Captain Rex, Clone Captain Grey, Clone Captain Ballast and an Elite Squad Trooper.
I love the concept of four packs and can even tolerate a repack mixed in. This is a bit more expensive then I would like with the repaints and a repack, but at lease its newish.
I've advocated for it before and hope they continue this concept for The Mandalorian or one of the other media properties and get something more interesting then clones (Rogue One Rebel Pilots, Solo movie Sabbac game, TROS Knights of Ren, etc.).

Nice!

Cool, hastily thrown together kitbashes of secondary characters instead of thought out iterations of the main characters.
And $15 each!

It's a good signal to the community that the main characters are coming. They are each unique characters that need their own tooling.
-
That version of Rex is a major improvement on the 3.75" Black Series version that was just reissued in The Vintage Collection. And I've got to say that these might be some of the best Clone Trooper head sculpts that I've ever seen. Plus the deco looks really good.
But seriously, they put in THOSE Clones and still have the wherewithal to call this a Bad Batch 4-pack? I get the source material for all of the characters, but it defies belief that the first 3.75" scale figures from The Bad Batch series wouldn't include ANY of the members of Clone Squad 99!
I'm also annoyed that they would offer a troop builder like the Elite Squad Trooper in this format. Even if there are only 3 or 4 of these guys, it's a dick move by Hasbro.
-
And I'll say it again. Amazon multi packs with repainted troops. And you guys are surprised? Don't buy it please then. I might get 2.

A good sign, yes. And it makes you think that whichever members of the Bad Batch are coming next, they're probably going to be revealed in the next livestream.
-
Nice set, but very deflating. I'm certainly in the camp of happy to have these figures, but aghast at the fact that our first Bad batch figures aren't the Bad Batch. BUT, I can't see us not getting The Bad Batch themselves now.

I *think* it should be this one (https://amzn.to/3xsFfB4).
It does not appear to be active yet. I will update the link as needed ASAP if that is not correct...
*edit* updated the link - active but not showing available for pre-order yet...

Here you go. (https://amzn.to/3xsFfB4)

*updated link to a JD referral link - gotta do all I can to keep the lights on here... :-\ -Jeff

Temporarily out of stock. Did I miss this?
-
I don't think so. I don't think they've gone up yet.
-
Just went live!
-
Got 'em. To be honest, I'm really just buying this set for the Rex.
-
It's up now. And priced $3 higher than the Bantha Skull article stated.
-
Ordered. 👍
-
Not coming out until January according to the pre-order.
I like the clones, but I'm with you Lando....I want that Rex!
**Update** Now showing out of stock.
-
It's still in stock...on eBay. For $200-$599. Seriously.
-
Now listed as "temporarily out of stock". I'm sure they'll be back up for pre-order before too long.

The sad thing is that some people will actually pay that. SMH....

Wonder how many balked at the price at first, held off, and are now bitching up a storm they can’t “wait it out”.

Just wait, they'll be demanding that you sell yours to them for below retail price.

I can't see Amazon leaving money on the table with this. There's no doubt going to be more of these sets put up for preorder - especially since it's not shipping for another 6 months!
But once I saw Rex as part of this set, I knew I had to jump on it. Anything with Rex is instantly a hot commodity now. I wound up ordering 3 sets. I may wind up selling off one of the Captain Ballast and Captain Grey figures.
-
I think it's a great set. I agree Nick that Amazon will put up more for pre-order soon. There's plenty of time for them to get with Hasbro to get them to crank out more.
I'm looking at the latest release of Rex and trying to figure out how I'm going to mix and match these to get the best version!
-
The F did I miss this?? God this hobby is a pain in the ass. Somehow 26 hours elapsed when I wasn’t glued to my computer for SW news and now it’s 7+ months of stalking that Amazon page 20 times a day or paying $500 for one on eBay. >:(
-
Same. Checked here maybe 30min before it was announced then did stupid work stuff and missed out.
I wish Hasbro sent a communique days earlier to their rolodex of fan sites about the Wednesday shared reveal. (Whether those non-participating outlets would relay the news is a different matter.) But I appreciate Hasbro engaging the community more and more. That connection was missing for a long time.
The soft-goods on Rex looks magnificent.
-
It went surprisingly fast.

It went surprisingly fast.
Even with the short lead time from the announcement. I still believe that Amazon will order more...I was able to get the 50th Anniversary Black Series Obi-Wan a after the pre-order with little problem.
-
Got this email from Hasbro PR this morning -
"We are so thrilled by the enthusiastic response from fans for the Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Star Wars: The Bad Batch figure 4-pack. We understand that many collectors were unable to purchase the figure pack because the pre-order sold out extremely quickly, but we are glad to officially report that additional quantities will be made available for purchase exclusively on Amazon in early 2022. Please stay tuned to Hasbro Pulse social channels for the latest updates regarding this product’s availability."
-
Great news!
-
Knowing these can't be ordered again until 2022 will save me from 6 months of checking daily. I guess that's a good thing? :-\
-
Anybody else get a delayed until March message today? With Jayson saying they had reached the U.S. a couple weeks ago I was expecting the opposite email

Yep, same here.
-
Same for me. I wonder if they oversold them.
-
Mine too.
-
Same. But this could be a random Amazon thing where it gets delayed and then ships next week, so who even knows at this point.

Got an email tonight from Amazon - My new estimated delivery date: Friday, February 18, 2022

I hope more of these become available. I missed them the first time around. :'(

Patrick said in the recent batch of Q&A that more will be available this year, just not at the time of release of the pre-orders.
-
My order currently states "Arriving March 3".
-
I had seen on one of the FB collecting groups these were shipping soon...I checked and my order still said March 3rd. I looked again just now and they are arriving Friday! Nick, you might want to check again in a little while.

My delivery date was just moved up to tomorrow.

$126?!?!? I'm assuming this is a 3rd party seller scalping the crap out of this.
*edit* - yes, its being sold by "Toy Mine". Otherwise known as a scalper dickhead.

I saw the Prime and assumed it was being sold through Amazon itself.

If I bought with my Amazon card I would get $6 back, so only $120 for the 4 figures. ::)

I just doublechecked my original order and this is double the price. I'd hold off and wait for Amazon to actually sell them.
My bad y'all.

Just got my shipping notice.

Amazon just dropped off my set.
Still irritates me that the first Bad Batch figures we got were none of the actual Bad Batch. Especially when you factor in Black Series has got the whole team already. That is my one gripe about running the two figure lines at the same time. Hasbro doesn't want the lines to look the same (same figures at same time), so one side or the other is always left waiting for something/someone. It's almost always TVC that is lagging behind. :(
It's frustrating to see all the stuff BS6" got that TVC/3.75" still hasn't (just off the top of my head - The Bad Batch/Omega, Dryden Vos, Mortar Stormtrooper, Cal Kestis, Season 1 Greef Karga, Q9-0, etc). Ah well #endrant

At the very least you think they would only separate them by 6 months or so. What is the point of waiting a year+ to release these when you don't ever see these in stores anyhow.
I'm extra annoyed that we've had two different outfit variants in the 6" line and have none in 3.75". You would think that maybe they could do one variant in each line, and the crossover at some point in the near future.

Agreed again. Collecting shifted dramatically when that line came around and became popular. It split sales, reduced volume for 3.75”, probably is a contributing factor in rising prices, reduced the number of characters in 3.75”… I get it, but I don’t like it.

No argument with Jeff there, they really should’ve named this something else because Bad Batch it isn’t.

I like the set honestly cuz the clones were, sorta important I guess. I like the Rex a lot, and the clone that wound up getting arrested is cool… but it’s just random clones and not really what the name implied I guess haha. Not that I feel misled or anything, it just isn’t correct haha.
-
I saw this set pop up locally for $80, so I'm going to bite at that price. I think it was originally $60, so $20 markup or $20 per figure for an exclusive feels about right to me. I'm sure it will be out in droves later in the year, but I've gotten burned waiting on stuff before. He also has a black series figure I still need for $20, so that's an easy way to blow $100 on Monday morning.
-
Rex and the Elite Squad trooper were the big draws for me in this set. This version of Rex seems like a make good for the 3.75” Black Series figure that got reissued on a TVC card. Looking at that figure by itself is one thing - but when you put him next to ARC Trooper Echo and Fives, Rex looks terribly out of proportion. He isn’t as bad as the 3.75” Black Series Commander Wolffe (aren’t you a little short for a Clone Trooper?), but clearly the standards have shifted in the past 10 years. So I’ll give Hasbro some slack on Rex.
The Elite Squad Trooper seems like the next most important character in the lineup since he’s part of Crosshairs unit. But by that logic shouldn’t we have gotten an Imperial Crosshair???
I like the Commander Grey and Ballast/Howzer figures. They’re relevant in the story of the first season - Grey especially, given his link to Caleb Dume. But I think that these two Clones are more like second or third tier characters in the series. The absence of the clones in the Bad Batch as well as Omega, Crosshair (Imperial), Vice Admiral Rampart and Cid are big gaps in the line.
My educated guess is that new TVC sculpts of the Bad Batch were beyond the budget for the line at that time. But an update to the phase 2 clone troopers was something that could be more budget friendly for Hasbro. Now if we don’t see figures like Hunter, Crosshair, Tech, Wrecker and Echo revealed this year, then the only conclusion is that Hasbro is either asleep at the wheel, or they just don’t care.
-
My set came in today and my opinion hasn’t really changed on it. The set is a nice exclusive set of unique clones. The Rex is pretty fantastic in general and I’d love to have a phase I Rex now more than ever, and a Rebels Rex. The Rex replacement 501st commander has a cool headsculpt, and the commander who I believe gets arrested helping the Syndullas are pretty cool additions. The elite clone is cool too and the deco is a weirdly spot on finish to the animation. I really like how he turned out but it makes you want a squad of him too.
All the helmets are……. Snug haha. But they’re nice and sturdy helmets, and imo the overall clone sculpt holds up well still. I do wish we’d see clone wars cartoon troopers/commanders updated in TVC more now though. Cody Phase I and II are my primary wants given how nicely done clone commanders are now. Bly would be up there too.
But yeah, def want the bad batch and Omega at this point. I enjoyed that show and storyline a lot more than I thought I would.
-
Yeah I like the Rex quite a bit, and it's nice to finally have a good version of him. But I don't like the binoculars rangefinder they gave him. I don't think he even has that in the show, does he? I may cut mine off and leave just the regular rangefinder.
-
I do not recall now how he looks in the BB. Or at the end of tcw. That’s a pretty solid point on the binocs though they didn’t bother me a lot. I probably have another helmet somewhere or the other Rex I can swap buckets or something.
The cloth poncho thing was a highlight. Details and stuff. Reminds me of a cutscene from a game of Mon Mothma meeting a defector with armed guards in similar robes, all cloak and daggery.
-
Agreed. He's the highlight of the set for sure, and really the main reason I bought it.
-
These guys are back up on Amazon, available for Buy Now (direct from Amazon at the original retail price)

-
Ordered. Thanks for the heads-up!
-
I got one too, thanks!
-
Ugh...I'm tempted to order, but I really only want Rex to customize. I might just wait to see if he shows up single carded.
-
For those that opened this set, does the helmet come off of the Elite Squad Trooper? Mine seems to be glued on? Given that it is just a clone headsculpt painted the same color as the armor I guess it doesn't really matter...
-
It is intended to be glued down. People who got early loose ones from Tunghori have versions with removable helmets, and nondecoed heads underneath.
-
It seems that there might be some confusion about the Elite Squad Troopers. There are rumors that originally the Squad members were intended to be clones who were loyal to the Empire. But in The Bad Batch series we see that the Elite Squad is actually made up of human soldiers who wear that blacked out phase 2 Clone Trooper armor. But that's just looking at it from the standpoint of the characters in the show.
For the purposes of Hasbro? I think this was simply a case of them using the current phase 2 Clone Trooper buck with the new heads. I'm fairly certain the one image I saw of the figure with the helmet removed showed that it's the same head sculpt that was used for Rex and Captain Grey. I think if we expect to get the Elite Squad members with their individual head sculpts we might see those in a Troop Builder 4-pack.

Yeah that was primarily why I was asking. I was hoping it'd be easier to do a headswap with some normal humans, since these guys aren't clones. I wonder if someone at Hasbro just saw some early Bad Batch promo images where these guys only ever shown with their helmets on? It'd have been pretty easy to assume they were clones without any additional context. then by the time they learned more it was too late to tool a new headsculpt so they just decided to go with the helmet color and glue it down?
I did find this image on BanthaSkull, looks to maybe be a slightly different headsculpt than Rex and Grey? He seems to have a little more of a snarl in his expression, but that could just be an illusion from the coloring I suppose:
(https://www.banthaskull.com/images/VC_2021_Photo_Gallery/vc211_bb4pk_elite_squad_trooper_13.jpg) (https://www.banthaskull.com/images/VC_2021_Photo_Gallery/vc208_bb4pk_captain_rex_bracca_09.jpg)
All of that is kind off moot though, as I don't really plan on getting many (if any) extras of the figure since it currently only comes in an expensive multipack with 2-3 other figures I wouldn't want multiples of, Tunghori doesn't have them at a cheap price, and I don't love the VC45 sculpt to begin with.
-
The Elite Trooper head definitely looks like he's scowling compared to Rex. I wonder what it would look like with the photo real paint apps?
But I've got my Bad Batch clones here at my desk. And lots of the lines on the face of the Elite trooper match up with the Captain Grey figure I have next to my laptop.

It's hard to get all that armor off. After constantly holding it in for hours, you would self constipate too.
