The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Fake News in the time of the PT

I am still waiting for clone Luke and clone Vader to show in the sequel trilogy like he promised.  He IS a close personal friend of George Lucas.

So are we guessing the mystery infinity stone is in Wakanda then?

I forget where the red one went after Thor 2.

The Aether (or whatever it was) went to the Collector in the after credits scene in Thor 2.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Batman v Superman / Justice League / DC Movies

My opinion of the movie is that they only needed to form the Justice League because Superman was dead and they needed to band together against a large threat.  Once Superman was resurrected and got his head on straight, the others really weren't needed.

At this point, I'm thinking the Teen Titans Go! movie is going to be better than anything in the DCEU.

I'm really not surprised.  This whole DC attempt to catch up with Marvel has been a mess.  Half the team is getting origin story/solo movies after the team movie.

Did anyone watch The Gifted last night?  It's on my DVR, but I would like to know if it's worth it or not.  Realize that I stopped watching Agents of SHIELD and Gotham because they were just a chore to watch.

About the only Superhero shows I watch are now the Marvel Netflix series.

I got a little bit of a Heros feel from it.  Not quite sure where it fits in the X-Men timeline.  Worth a watch for now.

I don't shop at TRU all that frequently anymore, but I usually stop by around Christmas time to look for stuff for my kids.  Last year, it was a complete mess.  You couldn't find a single employee in the whole store to help look for anything.  They only had one register open.  I just ended up saying to hell with and went to Target.  On my way out, there were three or four employees hanging out near the doors to leave.  I think the company just has a general attitude of not caring.

Star Wars Anthology / Re: Solo (SPOILERS)

I am waiting for the inevitable release date change to December 2018.  Personally, I think that is the best thing for Disney.  They have ruled the past two Decembers and will likely do so again at the end of this year.  They might as well keep the trend going rather than step all over their other franchises in the summer.

Collections / Re: Insurance?
« on: June 6, 2017, 03:02 PM »
An old topic, but I'll weigh in from experience.  Like others have stated, it is based on your insurance company.  I had a minor flood in my basement due to a leaky pipe.  My insurance covers replacement value of items.  One item that was damaged was the Ep. 1 Royal Starship that was unopened.  Since this wasn't an item that was currently available, I showed the insurance company my purchase price and what the going rate was on ebay.  They gave me the ebay price.

A couple years ago, I had a house fire.  Most of my collection had been moved out by then, but I did have a few items in house.  Since the damage was mostly from smoke, most of my stuff was restored (I believe they put stuff in a chamber with ozone).  It worked surprisingly well, considering what I had in the house was mostly books, boxed legos and some carded figures.  You would never know they were exposed to smoke.  Since this was a large loss in terms of items (which included all my other possessions), I received a bulk check for everything.  My insurance provides replacement in kind cost.  For example, I had a 60" TV that was damaged and could not be repaired.  Even though it was close to ten years old (an HD projection TV), I was able to replace it with a modern TV.  What the insurance does is have you find a new 60" TV and give them the value for it.  They then depreciate the value based on the age of the old TV to come up with value.  You get the depreciated value, but then you get the depreciation back once you buy the item and replace the old item.  One thing they don't tell is that you can use depreciation of one item and other items.  For example, say you come up with a value of $50K for all your items (and yes, you have to do all the leg work and price everything with references to where you got the value) and everything gets depreciated at 50%, you get a check for $25K and can recover the other $25K when you make purchases.  So if you have a TV that is valued at $4K and they give you $500, you can either buy a $4K TV to get the additional $3.5K, or you could buy a $5K TV and get $4.5K in depreciation back and that just comes out of the total $25K depreciation pot.

As for collectables, yes it is a good idea to take pictures and work out values, but most likely your possessions coverage is high enough to cover everything.  Some companies do require an extra rider to cover stuff.  It just depends on what your company covers.

Once again Ovechkin and the Caps choke in the playoffs.

Makes sense I'm an Ovechkin fan as they suck in the playoffs just like all the Minnesota teams I root for

I have to wonder how well they would do in the regular season if the schedule was like baseball.  The Caps regularly go on 7-3 or 8-2 runs.  In the playoffs, they can't put together 4 wins in 7 games when they play the same team.  They always lose game 7, even at home, and sometimes against 8 seeds.  If they play a three game series in Pittsburgh, then a three game series against the Rangers and then a four game series at home against the Bruins, would they still be 7-3 or 8-2 over the ten games or would they only win 3 or 4?

If they go the Skywalker reveal route, they will step on their toes.  The Darth Vader comic series has covered how Vader found out about Luke.

The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars Episode IX
« on: April 26, 2017, 07:12 AM »
Wow, you'll be an old man. It'll be a good movie to send-off the last vestiges of your youth.  :D

So the return to May was supposedly  to avoid the Avatar sequel or something.

That doesn't make sense because the Avatar sequels aren't coming out until 2020 now.  They announced Avatar before Episode IX.  It looked more like Avatar was delaying to avoid Star Wars.

I have actually enjoyed the December releases since it gives me more time for multiple views due to the kids being out of school for winter break.

And you have folks saying Logan isn't actually part of the previous X-Men continuity....which is saying that Force Awakens really isn't a sequel to the original trilogy. SO WHY SHOULD WE GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE MOVIE OR THE CHARACTERS? The whole thing depends a lot on the audience's previous connections to Logan and Xavier.

That isn't a fair comparison based on Days of Future Past.  TFA is most definitely a sequel, just set 30 years later than ROTJ instead of picking up a short time after.  Logan takes place later in the timeline than the "future" we see in Days of Future Past, but I don't think it goes into detail if it is the altered future which erased the events of X-Men 3 or if it is a different timeline.

The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS)

Can you connect the dots for those of us that took German class instead?  Does the "S" in Ultimos convey multiples?

I would think it would be the "Los" which is the plural form of the in Spanish...I took French, so I'm not 100% sure, but French had la, le, and les for the.  La and Le are the feminine and masculine versions, depending on what they are describing, and Les is the plural form.  I believe Spanish is similar in that respect.  So Los Jedi is the Jedi (plural) and if it were just referring to Luke, it would be El Jedi.

The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS)

No, it is the biggest secret of the new trilogy, Han Solo lives and is reunited with Kylo Ren!

Sure, when you fall down a bottomless pit on a planet that blown up shortly after, anyone can survive that.

Hux is just that good.  He manages to grab Ren, get Phasma out of the trash compactor, and grab Han who is falling through the entire planet all in about two minutes after he talks to Snoke.  It is going to be amazing.
