Watto's Junk Yard / Re: What else do you collect?
« on: September 18, 2003, 02:10 AM »
I've broken myself down to two principals, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. I've picked up an interest in Buffy, despite my better judgement, and found myself satisfied with my Joe collection as is. My modern MOTU is slowly but surely being traded off, thankfully.

I still buy G1 reissues and Marvel Legends, but those seem to come out rather infrequently and I don't buy everything their respective companies put out.

I guess one could say I also collect DVDs and comics, too.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: How many stores do you hit on your toy runs?
« on: September 18, 2003, 02:04 AM »
There's one each of Target, K-Mart, TRU, and KB here, as well as two Wally Worlds in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls, IA area.

To keep up a complete collection, I sometimes find myself heading to Cedar Rapids and Iowa City to hit the stores down there. I scored a couple of ROTK figures at Suncoast, which is down there and not here. Even if I don't find anything, I can still visit some friends and have a few vengeful libations.

Man, Austrailia sounds about as close to Utopia as Earth will ever get.

And they call the US the greatest country in the world. Hm.

I know that since I paid 20 bones for this thing, I should be a little disappointed, but I was able to reasonably fix these problems with a bit of effort. Just wanted to give y'all a heads-up.

The box this thing came in was absolutely huge, and the fig was sitting at the bottom with this stupid airbag thingy taking up the rest of the box. They could have thrown some tissue paper around the package, but I guess they used my $4 shipping for the bigass box.

I hope they release this on DVD when it's over with, because there's no way in hell I'm going to catch all of these episodes.

My Twilight Frodo arrived today. It's a good thing the market fell out for these. Mine arrived with the j-hook area slightly but noticeably bent, and the bubble beneath the LOTR logo is smashed. It also had an easily-removable white label right over the figure.

Despite these gripes, I'm glad to have it, and might buy another to open if these show at the brick-and-mortar stores.

I'd go back to the West Palm Beach/Palm Beach area in a heartbeat. I've always liked Florida, and it's a great place if you avoid Orlando and A1A.

Daytona Beach is fun, especially during Bike Week, provided said bikers keep themselves in line.

My favorite of all is Flagler Beach, though. You don't feel as poor there as you would in West Palm Beach, and it's quiet, as it isn't a tourist destination, or at least a very big one.

Yeesh. ROTK is going to have to be the greatest movie in history to move that many reapacks.

On a lighter note, The GD is reporting that the Twilight Frodo figures from KB are the exact same as the chase figure. No differences whatsoever.

Wow. Elrond. About time he showed up again.

Too bad I've spent all my toy budget.

Oh well. The shipping notice I received said that my Frodo is sitting in Roanoake, VA right now.

Ugh. Country music. Proof that God really does hate us and wants us to suffer as much as possible in our short time here. Johnny Cash is the only artist to come from this genre I can stand.

It's like I've always said in actual social interaction: If you're a country music fan, your life is probably as empty and pathetic as it deserves to be.

If we who don't like hip hop make snarky comments about it, it's because we don't like it, not because we're ignorant. No amount of rolleye graemlins will likely change that either. I don't mean any offense here. No flames; the site's name isn't Rebelscum after all. :)

I'm in the minority in that I have nearly everything from the 2003 collection, but here are my faves:
Padme DFC (especially once I did the headswap)
Coleman Trebor (I'd like to think this was the standard for the line instead of the exception)
Wat Tambor
Aayla Secura

Duds:
Repacks. They were a good idea for RFT, Imp. Officer, and the Teebo wave, kinda lame-ish for the rest, especially Jango.
R2 Booster rockets. Icky.
Barriss Offee. I didn't mind the pose as much as the open mouth. Damn, I hate bug-catching mouths of my figures.

They look like customs to me. Lousy ones at that.
To each his own, I guess.

The link doesn't work, but I read this already.

Looks like Affleck came to his senses. About time.

I'm nearly positive that the Prologue Bilbo has the body from the articualted Pippin from the TTT line. It has a new head and the Ring sculpted into his hand. Also, he features Sting, the one that came with the Frodo from the Elven boat pack. But, it's still a cool figure, and it's a shame TB decided to short pack it.

I think I'm going to rent 'American Psycho' again and see this smarmy bastard in action. Doesn't hurt that it's one of my favorite movies that I haven't bothered to buy yet.
