I didn't see a thread on this but felt it deserved one... feel free to mod/lock/whatever if need be.
So we're finally getting a scaled turret gun for the Gunship... I personally think this is a great idea for a Battle Pack. The Evolutions Clone Pilots were awesome, and the extras that we know we'll all have can easily be converted to regular Clones. That gun looks amazing, hopefully it fits well with the Gunship!
-
The mounts for the new turret are interesting too... They don't look like they'd fit a current Gunship, but I could be wrong. They just look a bit larger to me... Maybe a bit larger Gunship is coming?
-
I think it's a very neat idea and it'll be interesting to see if it fits in the Gunship.
-
Going to cost a pretty penny to outfit all of my Gunships. Very nice piece though. I'm having a brain fart, but aren't there also clones in the wing turret things as well?
-
Yes. If you look closely you can see their seats are in the pods... I'm guessing the Troopers are to sit in them, though I think the troopers in the movie didn't have pilot buckets on IIRC.
-
The presentation said that it fits all previous and future gunships. I don't have any gunships, but if I did, I could see buying two packs per gunship then you would could fill the gunner stations and the pilot seats.
-
I can see that the chair doesn't follow the movie high motor bike style, but instead of a low gamer recliner...Maight be due to the nature of the figures, wich wouldn't open the legs wide while in sitting position(PS: I could be wrong, cuz the angle of the photo).... still its an awesome turret.
I share your quriosity about the size,& if will or not fit to the previous Gunships. if not I hope its cuz we would get Larger ones, and hopefuly it will open the back door as well.

I'll be getting two for the Gunship sets for sure! About darn time we get the gunner turrets.
-
The turret BP, awesome idea. Really. I think it's been confirmed that there are two turrets in the pack as well.
I am not sure it comes with two, I would hope so. Any confirmation on this or is this a future Q&A question?
-
Great looking set. Not sure if I'll get one of four sets yet (since I have four gunships.)

The answer came from Daryl Priest at some type of Q&A at TF. The threads at Scum have more details. If I find it, I'll direct link it.

You'll need 8 sets if you want to fully arm your gunships. Hasbro says that the BP only comes with the one Turret.
-
This is going to get expensive. I've got at least 6 Gunships, and I'd really like to have ball turrets for all of them.
-
Eesh! So now this BP is going to have 2 figures and only 1 turret? The turret can't be much larger than the Probe Droid that came with the Hoth BP and I can't see that it is worth 2 figures. But I really shouldn't complain as I don't own any of the Gunships and won't buy any.
-
Yup....This is a slap in the face to many of us who own a Gunship - if not most of us who own multiples. Hasbro seems REALLY money hungry this year. Blame this on oil and economy all you want, but you're still milking us for more than this stuff is worth. Bumping up the price and giving us less?
bastards. >:(

You my friend are gonna need a lot of balls!
-
I got a pair of brass ones RIGHT HERE!!!!
-
Assuming these stay at $22 bones it will cost me $220 to outfit my gunships, that's a lot of pilots to get rid of. Time to start thinning out some of my evo ones that I currently have.....

I thought it was confirmed somewhere that this set comes with two turrets (even though it is only pictured with one)?
I'll have to see if I can find where I read that...
-
Adam May at GH (http://www.galacticblogger.com/blogger/) seemed to be under the impression that the set only included one turret. :-\
-
So do we have a uniball or what? :)
-
Bummer. I was looking for whatever convinced me that there were two and I had to go reading through Scum's cluster**** of a forum (something I haven't done for years) and it looks like no one in there has any idea what they are talking about. (Nothing new I suppose.) Half the people in there seem convinced that it will come with two and the other half believe it will only have the one. And there are some lemmings over there that think it is a good idea for the pack to only come with one turret...
Great set in my opinion. 2 pilots and 1 turret is just fine with me! 8)
As much as I would've liked to see it be two turrets to a battlepack, I like the idea of two figs and one turret, as then I can build up my pilots without having an excess of turrets.
God, I ned to hit the lottery soon. :P
I think the pack is fine as-is.
The turret attatches to the gunship, as said in the slideshow.
A trooper can obviously fit in it.
So you need two packs.
One pilot from each pack to go into a turret, and one pilot from each pack to go into the cockpit, since there are two seats. It's perfect.
Seriously? So I paid $40 for my SAGA Gunship, $30 for my Clone Wars Command Gunship, and $45 for the TSC Shark version and now I have to pay $45-$50 to get turrets for ONE of them? Give me a ******* break. This is a bad deal no matter how you spin it. I already have two pilots for each gunship (as I'd bet most people do) They weren't that difficult to come by, and the guys in the pods were just regular white clones anyways... That is a nice looking pod but it is going to look goofy on the underscaled gunship we have currently. I'm really glad I've decided to to sell most of my PT stuff. I no longer feel compelled to buy **** like this.
To be fair, I sill couldn't find a clear answer if it comes with one or two turrets. BanthaSkull seems to think it comes with two... but I'd take May's word over their any day. I guess time will tell, but I think you're right Jayson and the set will only come with the one pod.
-
I'm glad I don't care for the Gunship enough to own one (at least on display), and so I'm buying the turrets with the hope of doing my own some day... I'm down for 2 sets only I guess, and I'll spread the pilots out somehow. I've got a ton already... I'll just have them at attention or scrambling or something. V-19's need 'em too I guess.
-

That's why my calculation above is outrageous. I am assuming only one pod is included. We are going to have a **** load of Pilots soon. I hope Adam is wrong.
-
Well, like someone said earlier, 4 sets = 2 turrets, 2 turret pilots, and 2 Gunship pilots. Hopefully yours aren't already being piloted by the 2002 Clone Pilots. :-X
-

At the very least, this will be a good Hasbro question, but I'll state again, I've read on Scum twice that Daryl Priest said in some interview that two turrets were included.
EDIT: I've done some more research and found that the answer to the question is very confusing, so I'll take back my understanding that Priest mentioned two turrets.

The confusion surrounding this set is because of the CW Turbo Tank Gunner set... quite a few times at the showroom, Hasbro was mixing two sets up when people were asking about them.
The TURBO TANK GUNNER CREW (http://www.rebelscum.com/TF2009/Hasbropanel/Slide10.JPG) deluxe set comes with TWO Clone Troopers and TWO "Turrets". The GEONOSIS ASSAULT (http://www.rebelscum.com/TF2009/Hasbropanel/Slide22.JPG) Battle Pack is currently planned to contain TWO Clone Pilots and ONE Turret.
IF they can get the Geonosis Set to "cost out" and include two turrets they will, but they can't promise anything at this point because the economy/future is in such flux. Look at it this way - if they promise us two turrets and then had to pull one due to cost, we'd all be pissed. If they promise us ONE turret and then are able to squeeze in a second one, we'll all be elated. It's that simple. They were sticking to "ONLY ONE TURRET" for now because it will lead to less disappointment if they can't squeeze in a second one. That is why there was only one shown/listed in the picture...
It's like the tables with the ANH wave. They weren't sure if they were going to happen so they said "no tables". That way it was a nice surprise for us when they were able to make them happen.
-
^ Great points Jeff.
I only have two gunships... will probably be happy with just one ship getting a full sack.
-
If there are two turrets per set, I'll buy one set to go on the 2002 Saga Gunship, as the Space Whale Gunship never had the ball turrets in the cartoon, and the green ROTS Gunship is pretty much EU, so it doesn't matter to me whether it has them or not. If there is only one turret per set, I'll buy two sets, but no more than that.
What would be nice, however, is if either way Hasbro included extra regular Phase I Clone Trooper helmets (non-pilot) for the two Clones, so that way folks who buy more than 1-2 sets would not be stuck with a million Clone Pilots and nowhere to put them. Not that we still wouldn't be stuck with millions of Clone Troopers and nowhere to put them, but at least we'd have options.
-
Thanks Jeff!
Well, with a one turret set, I'm more inclined to equip one gunship over four.

Someone in a different thread (I want to say JesseJames) made a great point that if you buy two sets, you have the two turrets, two turret gunners, and two pilots for the Gunship. That's probably what I'll end up doing with mine, as I only have two Pilots from Evolutions sets anyway, and one is technically an "Engineer" based on the Battlefront video games.
Unless you're too cool for SA Pilots and still use those crappy 2002 Saga pilots.

In this pic (http://www.yakface.com/Features/toyfair2009/hasbrokit/images/37.html), the base looks like it is 2 separate pieces, the forked portion being used for stability and to give the turret some play value when not installed in a gunship.

could use some help with identifying this clone. by most account this is the AOTC clone. With the hi-res pics at galactic hunter. The AOTC has those little raised nub things on the right forearm near the elbow joint. But this one has removble helmet, now correct me if I'm wrong but no standard clone has ball joint waist and removable helmet right? Could that upper torso be new, and the rest of the clone be AOTC mold?
http://www.galactichunter.com/photo.asp?image=absolutenm/articlefiles/7970-3.jpg
-
I agree, that chest/torso must be new.
And what's with it being in the Clone Wars designated packaging. I thought this was a Legacy (non animated) set. :P
-
It's the ROTS Clone with the Evolutions Pilot head, it looks like. Note the upside down belt.
-

Just to reiterate what jedipurge said, there isn't a ROTS or AOTC clone body that has a removable helmet and the chest/torso articulation on one figure. All the removable helmet figures have the one piece torso/abdomen design from the EVO body. Also a couple other details point to this using parts of most of the AOTC body; the prominent gray abdomen details and the forearm detail (on the arm with the blaster), plus the pointing right hand sculpt (as seen clearly in the boxed image (http://www.galactichunter.com/photo.asp?image=absolutenm/articlefiles/7970-4.jpg))
The combination of these details points the figure having a new torso and this allowed for the proper orientation of the belt to be achieved.
-
It's like the Leia/Luke med frigate that just came out in W6. Are they new? Yes. But are they new? No. Either way it still sucks not to get the other pod in this set, but at least now I'm geting an all white clone with removable bucket that has the same artic. of #41.
Maybe that's why they took out the other pod too, couldn't justify the "new" tooling for the troopers and new mold x2 for the pod all in one pack.
-
The Gelagrub pack sucks... This pack just stings a little. That grub pack really hurts the old wallet though considering you don't even get an extra figure.

For me, the Gelagrub set hinges on the overall quality of the grub itself. If it's like the new CW Jabba head where it as a hard body with a rubbery skin, I'll be fine with it. But, if it's just a hard blob of blue plastic with the playability of a decorative garden rock, I'll be disappointed.
-
The grub's coolness could sway me slightly, but I still find it excuseless that we didn't get either a Star Corps Trooper just thrown in for ***** and giggles, a translucent aquarium plant for ambiance, or maybe they could've given us that rare deco Commander Bly with the right striping that hardly anyone owns. ::)
I just feel jipped. The Gun Turret looks very complex, and we get two pilots with seemingly modified torsoes for more coolness... For the grub, we get a grub and a figure. One other figure repaint or repack wouldn't have killed them. I partially blame the pricehike too for my feelings though. At $20 I'd be less angry. At $25 it's pretty annoying.

closer look (http://cgi.ebay.com/STAR-WARS-Clone-Pilot-GEONOSIS-ASSAULT-BATTLE-PACK-NEW_W0QQitemZ190322317266QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2c501817d2&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1205%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50) @ figure from the pack.
-
The headsculpt looks pretty good. I guess I can phase out my 10+ Evo versions as I will be buying 10-12 of this Battle pack to outfit all of my Gunships. This is going to be expensive and a real pain to track that many of them......
