The Vintage Collection / Re: Drop in Collector Interest/Figures?
« on: December 23, 2009, 06:00 PM »
Somewhat related to this topic....I haven't listened to it yet, but it appears that the Force Cast podcast has a special this week with Derryl DePriest called the Collector Cast - where they apparently discuss the state of the line past, present, and future.  Just thought I'd pass it along.  Like I said, I haven't listened yet, so I don't know if there is any worthwhile news or not.

I havent listened to the Forcecast in a long time - but it should be nice to hear from Hasbros lead SW man - so thanks for passing it along.  In the most recent Hasbro Q&A, when answering a question about comic packs - Hasbro flat out said collector interest dipped by 30-40%, which to me seems huge.  I'm optimistic about the future of Legacy related products though, because its the foundation for modern collecting.  At this point, I think Hasbro knows price and collectors being overwhelmed with too many products are two of the main issues.  The cutbacks across the board will help, and since we wont be spending as much money on various other products, maybe it will equalize the collector base, and people wont mind spending $8 a figure if they are buying less each year.

The Legacy Collection / Re: Legacy Wave 9 - Return of the Jedi
« on: December 13, 2009, 12:52 AM »
You know, I was sort of surprised - our local Target got a case of this wave in last week, and the Leia/Luke/Ewoks disappeared within a day.  Here it is almost a week and a half later, and the rest of the wave is still hanging on the pegs.  I would have thought the whole thing would have sold right away, and people are especially missing out with those Jabba goons.

I noticed the same thing - except in my case the Luke figures didnt sell as fast - but I stopped at a local WM and the Jabbas Palace guys, Panno, and the rebel pilot have stuck around in numbers, there were multiples of each, which strikes me as odd, since they are great figures, minus the rebel pilot whos a bore.  It could be the case that collectors already have them and parents were the ones buying Luke, Leia, and the ewoks...

Hey Hasbro! / Re: PLEASE give unwanted figures to CHARITY
« on: December 10, 2009, 09:41 PM »
As I stated originally, Hasbro didnt 'recycle' any of them - and they should be called out on it:

SSG: Back in January, we asked about what happens to pulled-back pegwarming figures, and at the time you hadn't bought back some in a while so your answer focused on other methods of using the packaged figures, but on October 2nd you answered another site that this year's pulled-pack figures were being destroyed. How exactly are they being destroyed, and are those destroyed materials being recycled in some manner, or are they just destined to become landfill? Can Hasbro further clarify the details of this issue and address rationale behind this measure which could negative effects on the environment?

Hasbro: Due to their nauture, they cannot be recycled. Beyond that, we don't have any details on the specific method of disposal.

I saw this on EE, and even at under $20 with free shipping I couldnt bring myself to buy it.

The Legacy Collection / Re: EE "Joker Squad" 6-Pack

This set is on sale now for $19.99 - a link to EE for anyone wanting to get it. Could the $20 price drop mean that people aren't buying? It's what Star Wars Shop did with the Concept Grievous.

I didnt buy it at the original price, but I picked one up during the sale - I'm never buying another exclusive at full price, lol.

Hasbro is a total failure when it comes to variants - they cant seem to do it at all - they shouldnt even annouce them anymore. I was really looking forward to the alien Bespin guard. With all the cancellations, Hasbro could put a whole wave together for next year - they can call it the 'we dont know how to manage the Legacy line to save our collective ass'...wave.

The Legacy Collection / Re: Wal-Mart Droid Factory Sets

I 'voted with my dollars' as you put it and didnt buy any of these, I wont purchase overpriced exclusives, especially when half of the figures are repacks that many had zero interest in.  The greedy price and lame figure choices killed this line, and I'm frankly glad to see it go.

If Teek is in this set, I'd buy one for sure.

The Legacy Collection / Re: New or Redone Clone Commandoes?
« on: November 16, 2009, 01:27 PM »
I bought the Delta Squad the first time around, so I would not buy it again.  If the commandos make an appearance in the CW series - I'd be interested again, if not - the only thing I'd really be interested in is a clean version on basic card.

I saw one of these at TRU as well, I skipped it because I dont army build - all I really wanted was the droid commando captain - hopefully it will be repacked eventually with all the same accessories.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Clone Wars Wave 10 (aka 2009 Wave 7)
« on: November 13, 2009, 10:00 PM »
I agree, Padme is a nice figure - the others are rather boring though - but I still picked up this whole wave yesterday.  I really like the smaller CW waves of 4 figures, rather than the Legacy waves of 6 or 8 figures.

I'd really like to see the CW waves balanced out so that we only get 1 new clone per wave, so there is room for more Jedi and other unmade characters, like the Chancellor.

I saw the CW Padme/Matchstick wave, the CW deluxe wave with Obi-wan and Dooku on speeders today, and also picked up a Cad Bane for my nephew - I really hope this is the last CW wave that shows up this year - with all the various products to hunt for, heres hoping the Aayla wave doesnt show up until January.

The Legacy Collection / Re: 2009: Worst Distribution Year Ever?
« on: November 3, 2009, 06:40 PM »
During November and December, we will be chasing 4 waves of Legacy figures and 2 (maybe 3) waves of CW figures - that is a distribution train wreck in itself - not to mention Legacy waves are harder to find now, and most stores only put out 1 case at a time - Hasbro needs to figure something out before we have a melt down.
