Found one of the Drone figures today at a T.J. Maxx, $3 so I bought it.  Everything else was just a mix of IM armors.

Spent a ton of cash today on crap I probably didn't need, but I used the $10 TRU coupon and picked up the MP Thundercracker figure.  Very cool looking.  Haven't opened him yet, though.

Casting bullets and reloading is easy without power, the problem comes in making/obtaining the gunpowder, shells and, especially, the primers.

You'd have a similar problem with modern cap and ball muzzleloaders also, you can make bullets and even the powder but you'd still need the cap to set it off.  Without that you're back to flintlock.

Bow and arror or crossbow make more sense because they're easier to make new ammo for and you don't have to manufacture primers.  Still, the raw material for both shells and primers would be around or could be manufactured again even without power, it would just take longer.

If anyone watched the show Jericho, they did something that I liked better than what some other movies/TV shows have done; after the nuclear blast, which fried unshielded electronics like computers, modern cars, power plants etc, they still were able to get older cars w/o electronic control systems up and running.  I think they even eventually were able to get some local power back for things.

We live in a modern society with a lot of tech, but we also have a lot of knowledge.  If something happened and the main power grid failed, you can't tell me that there wouldn't be engineers hooking up small wind, water or sun powered houses and buildings.  Even steam powered.  I can't picture a modern society not coming together and rebuilding.  Unless something really catastrophic happened.

I guess I'll have to see how they write this new show, Revolution, to see if I buy into it or not.

Last year I did a big write-up on all of the new shows that were coming, what looked good, what probably was going to tank, etc.  This year, I haven't even been interested enough to look to see what new shows are coming let alone if any of them look good.

I have seen commercials for this new show, Revolution, that looks like it might be interesting.  I just have a feeling that it's going to be this season's "Terra Nova" or "Jericho," it'll be good and then, even if it makes it a full season, won't come back and leave us all with a cliffhanger or something.

Well, I subscribed last night.  I was kind of back and forth on it the last couple of weeks but ended up deciding to do it because there were a few figures in there that I wanted.  We'll see how it goes.

Thanks for the heads-up.  They just opened an Ollie's here about a month ago and I stopped in today and found both sets you mentioned, iFett.  $12.99 each and they had two of each on the shelf.  They're the multilingual boxes, the file cards are in 2 or 3 languages.

Found this wave of Thor toys you guys have been talking about...it was at Ollie's here in NY.  $4.99 each.  Saw Fandral and the Destroyer but passed on them.

Saw the Walmart 6" exclusives today for the first time.  I think it would be awesome to have the set but can't spring for them at that price, not with CVI coming up next week.   They look really nice, though.

This is what happens when I haven't been spending money on Star Wars figures.

I liked Daredevil.

It wasn't any worse than Spider-Man 3 or X-Men 3.

Well, he could "star" in the movie without having to be a costumed superhero.  He could be the Phil Coulson of the DC Universe.

The thing with Affleck's movies, like Whedon, is that they're very character driven.  So while he may not have a history of directing flashy CGI movies, that doesn't mean he couldn't direct a really good film with interesting characters.  Whedon had Serenity under his belt, but he didn't have a track record of big, flashy CGI films until The Avengers either but there's not much doubt that he nailed that.  Whedon had directed his TV shows, which, in the case of Firefly, had some CGI, but the rest weren't huge budget affairs.

Affleck has been in a couple big budget Sci-Fi/Action movies so it's not like it's foreign to him...he's seen how it's done.

I've been wondering what Target was going to do with their stock.  Walmart mostly sold through and they have clearance prices on what's left.  My store never got the $20 wave of vehicles and I don't think they had the 3-packs either.  But sold through the $14 vehicles and even the motorcycles for the most part.

My Target never got the new Ninja Vamp because I was haunting the ailse looking for one once I found out they'd hit some stores.  It's hard for me to believe that Target would pull the stuff and sit on it until next February-ish, especially since they'll be getting more of what they have now because Hasbro has said they'll be shipping more of the Wave 1 stuff.  Target just doesn't seem to run their inventory in that manner.  But, who knows, this is an odd situation.  Still, the original plan for summer must have included Joe so where did the original aisle space for Joe in this summer reset go?

When I asked about live coverage I wasn't talking about a feed from Mars but more along the lines of the control room as info is coming back. I'm assuming they'll get some info as it approaches then, as the graphic says, after the landing they're hoping for a signla back.

I haven't really checked all the news channels, but has anyone heard if there will be live coverage of this available somewhere?

And, does anyone think this sky crane is going to work?  I'm hoping for the best but kind of skeptical.  The airbags on the previous attempts seemed more like a more solid method and less to go wrong.
