I thought that, based on card date stamps, it had already been decided that the blue CC was first and the black was the running change...making him probably the standard so the blue will be the "variant?"  Maybe I was wrong on that?

What are some other examples that people had problems with?  I thought it was pretty solid.

Spoilery warnings.....

The Engineers; we never did get a good idea of their motives.  Did they come to Earth to create life or destroy it or for something else and we were just a side effect? Why come back to destroy us? Had we done something other than what they wanted or were we not what they wanted?  And either way, why bother with us rather than just start over somewhere else?  Either way, what was their goal?  Their end game?

The Engineer who tried to pilot the ship off the planet appeared to be somewhat different than the Engineer who appeared on Earth.  Was that just evolution or had they been trying to alter themselves and had it partially succeeded?  Was that why we got an early Alien from the Engineer while Shaw popped out a facehugger?  Because, if we had the same DNA, why would we see the start of an acid-blooded, silicon-based life form spring from something based on a carbon-based life form?  Holloway to Shaw to the Engineer?

What did David know?  By the end it seems like his goal was supposed to be to help Weyland meet the Engineers but up to the point we know that, he seems to know more than anyone else about what to expect on the planet.  Why the experiment with Holloway? Did he read something or know something more about what the Engineers were doing on the planet?  If his real goal was to get Weyland a face to face, why all the off-book stuff?  Also, what did he say to the Engineer at the end? Maybe I'm forgetting now, but I didn't think that was explained either.

Then there was Captain Janek who, with one visit to the labyrinth, suddenly knows that it's a military installation and not, well, anything else.  Maybe that's just deductive reasoning, but the movie seems to make it a key point that we now know this.

What was Meredith Vickers really up to?  She said early on that she was there because the Weyland corporation was laying out a lot of money, but what CEO would actually go herself on some mission like this?  So was she really there just because she was the boss or was there some other reason that we didn't know about?  She didn't seem to know that Weyland himself was there yet she had that medical table in her section of the Prometheus as if she knew something we didn't.  Or, I guess she was just paranoid...but that brings me back to why she would go herself.

What effect did the black ooze have on Holloway and Fifield?  It apparently broke up the Engineer on Earth and the worms became some type of...something else. But what were Fifield and Holloway becoming and how did the ooze change Holloway enough that he could plant a facehugger in Shaw?  Again, this comes back to what the Engineers were trying to accomplish with the black ooze, something that we don't have any answers to.

It felt, to me, like the entire movie was more set up than anything...like we need to get a sequel out of it in order to really find out what was going on.

Nice.

I'd love to hear the story behind this; how did Hasbro end up with a larger version, why SDCC vs retail, why it's (possibly) the only way to get Agent Hill....

Wonder if they'll answer any of those questions at the Con.  Someone corner the MU/Avengers team and ask them!

Justin, from HunterPR, posted a photo of Joe with the new "S.H.I.E.L.D. Super Helicarrier," as it's called.  It's F'en HUGE.

Super Helicarrier

I would not want to buy that at the show and have to lug it around...or have to ship it home.  Where would you come up with a box for it even?  You'd probably have to go to a specialty shipping company or UPS, maybe.  Unless Hasbro sells it in a box suitable for shipping, you aren't going to find something big enough at USPS.  And it's not fitting in any luggage I've ever seen.

Finally found the Dollar General Joe figures yesterday afternoon.  Stopped at a DG on the way back from a tech call.

The figures were not on pegs, they were standing up on a shelf.  They had all 6 so I bought them all because I'm not sure when/if I'll see them again.  I didn't ask if they had more, even though I'd take a couple more Cobra troops and another Duke or two for head swaps.  $40 enough to spend in a "dollar" store...

I'm weak.  Last minute tonight I jumped on the Con site again and ordered the 12" set.  I didn't buy last year's but it was on my short list and if their store hadn't gone down due to the CC fraud, probably would have picked it up before now.  Now I'm hoping a few make it until after the Con so I can pick one up later this year...maybe after CVI.

But, if it doesn't hang around, one thing in my favor is that I have the original Hasbro release of the sandrail so the accessories should fit on that if I miss the yellow AT version.

I think the Joe FLAGG was 7' long when fully assembled.  The Hellicarrier shipping to retail is about 3' long but this one has an extra foot, mostly between the turbines.

Since the deck looks different, I'm wondering if this version is one Hasbro did first and then decided that size and price would be too much for regular retail to buy into so they shortened it and now they're putting this out since it was already built?  Don't know, seems odd that they'd make that type of change to a toy just to release it as an exclusive.  Based just on colors, though, I like this one a little better.  But, I'll be passing.

I'm not usually the one to do this, but I'm gonna need to see some pics of this fig.

None of the Joe collecting sites have reported any finds of Joe Colton on the pegs with the first wave.  I've personally found the wave stocked 3 times and all 12 figs from each case were accounted for and no Colton figure was there.

I'm betting this looks amazing in 3D since it looks gorgeous in 2D.  I ended up going to the midnight showing Thursday night.  The movie has some problems and it feels sort of unfinished, like it's the setup for a new trilogy or something...

It didn't totally suck, but it could have been a lot better.  But, again, it looked awesome and the acting was solid.  The story they went with was decent but the plot fell apart, too many holes.

I really liked Predators.  The first AvP was pretty crappy and I didn't bother with the second one.

Hopefully Prometheus will be good. I was thinking about going to a midnight show tonight then found that my theater was only showing it in 3D.  Now, just today, I see there's a 2D version playing tonight so...  Idunno...

From the trailer I could see this film being pretty cool in 3D, but I really don't want to sit for 2 hours with a second pair of glasses on.

I didn't know they were even putting the GI Joe store back online, I thought it was just the Transformers site.  I didn't even look at it, I need to get in and get my Man of Evil!

I didn't see an end cap but my Target did put up another case of wave 1.  I thought I missed out on the Joe Trooper but after looking over the aisle a little, found the Trooper along with the Cobra Trooper and CC (black) on the bottom shelf behind a couple of Darth Maul masks.

Bought the Joe Trooper and put the rest back on the pegs.

I think it's totally random, it's just that it was mostly WM/Blue, Target/Black to start with. I did wonder for a minute if it was a blue vs red type thing that we've seen between WM and Target before, but pretty quickly dismissed that.  Plus, as mentioned, TRU and KMart are getting both.

I'd be interested to see a comparison between the dates on the cardbacks from a blue to black.  I wonder if they produced equal amounts or if they switched over manufacturing at some point to get to the other color.  Same with the Joe Trooper.

I actually didn't know Richard Dawson was still alive.
