08 Snowtrooper (regular release)

Coming out in one of the deluxe series...

I think that's technically a Snowtrooper Commander or something slightly different.

Kubricks / Re: C-3PO and R2D2 2-Pack
« on: September 7, 2009, 10:39 PM »
So, back OT - I finally bought one of these 2-packs.  Found one tonight with a BIN of $28, so I couldn't resist.  Of course, it was $15 shipping, but between Bing rebate and Ebay Rewards, I got it down to $40 including shipping.   8)

A preorder off eBay, hope it all goes through without any problems. I would never do a preorder for anything off the bay.

Well, I was on the fence about getting this, so I'm okay taking the risk.  My money should be protected from Paypal, so all I have to lose is pre-order status.  If it falls thru, I'll just continue to wait for a better deal once they're released.   ;)

If you're collecting loose, I've had really good luck contacting Ebay sellers and getting them to lower their shipping costs for loose figures.  You'd be surprised at how much people will knock of vs. their list price.  Good luck!

Just for the curious, basic figure prices at Rite-Aid?

$11.50 abouts.

:o  Anyone at Rite-Aid Pricing Dept. still awake?  $11.50 for a figure or $.50 more for an exclusive figure with a massive vehicle.  Yeah, that makes sense.

The Legacy Collection / Re: Recent Legacy Purchases

I found the WM Evo sets, had to convince them that they wern't recalled, then the said they were "on-line exclusives" and shipped to the store by mistake. Got 'em for regular Evo price.

The bs debates we have to get into with these Wally employees to buy these are crazy.

The damn things are right there on the sales floor, we pick them up and bring them to the register and then we have to spend 15 minutes fighting over everything from convincing them they're not recalled to convincing them they're allowed to sell them now to what the price is.

They need to get their **** together.

Yeah, I don't get WM policy on this at all.  I tried to buy some joint compound (not for rolling - it's for dry wall) about a month ago.  It wouldn't ring up at the register and the sales lady told me it had been recalled.  It's freaking goop that dries - it wasn't recalled, it's just not in your silly system for whatever reason.  Argh!  Glad you walked away with the sets Anton.

Kubricks / Re: Custom Star Wars Kubricks

So, based on all of the cool customs I saw here, I decided that I had to have a custom General Obi-Wan Kenobi Kubrick figure.  This has been a troublesome four days in the making, but I finally have a finished Clone Armor Obi-Wan completed.  I took a slightly different approach than some of the other customs on here and a few liberties on the outfit.  For example: I hate the big white circles that pin his cloak to his chest, so I just went with the chain beneath the cloak.  Anyway, let me know what you think!

Recipe: Series 9 Clone Trooper (Core Body, Arms, Legs, Blaster), Series 9 Obi-Wan (Cloak, Head, Hair, Lightsaber), POTF2 Slave Leia Chain

When I can't get the appendages back on, I just make sure that the sockets are wet before I try again.  There have been times when I've had trouble getting the legs to go back on, but the arms usually go back on without a problem.  Good luck!

Well, I had serious problems getting the arms back onto the shoulder sockets.  I tried water, boiling, even some vasoline to slip them back on, but no dice.  The ball socket looks to be about the same size as the one used on the legs, but the hole for the arms is only half the size as the hole on the leg.  I wonder if I somehow shrank the holes by boiling too long - my discarded obi-wan arms also look to have tiny tiny holes.  Appreciate the tips all the same.   ;)
