So... Wave 7 thread time!
Looks like this will be the Wave 7 breakdown... though nothing is final until Hasbro says so. Clicky for the bigger pics.

I like it. I'm serious. I want 2 of everyone but Vader and Bacca. :-\ I'm apparently easy.
-
Looks like Leia has some cleavage. ;)
-
I like the wave too, overall. I can see why some people aren't too up on a new Chewie, but at the same time, he's one of my favorite characters and really doesn't seem to get out there all that often anymore (other than that Mission Series pack). I've said before, they could pretty much just release the EB version from now on once in awhile and I'd be happy. That said, this variation is kind of neat too. I would have rather had a new "ANH" Leia, but the ceremonial one is nice too, and in need of an update. The Clones are all pretty neat, and probably the most excited I've been about clonetroopers in a long time.
I know those place markers in the cases are not always accurate, but I believe all of these figures said March of 2015. Now, it could be much earlier (or later), but overall it looks like these won't be out until next year. Doesn't that make the rest of 2014 pretty light? Not that it has exactly been raining figures anyways (I can't remember the last time I bought a 3 3/4" SW figure), but aside from the now releasing Dagobah Luke wave do we just have the Ree Yees wave until the end of the year? Oh, and that Hoth Luke, wherever that figure fits in now that Dagobah Vader is next year and Hoth Han is a no show so far. More surprises at NYCC maybe?
-
I expect more at NYCC if only to fill in some known blanks (3-PO and Emperor black series, SL royal guard and rebels obi-wan). I expect the further we get to toy fair the more the gates will open. Episode 7 toys won't land until thanksgiving so there will need to be a lot of pre-game for the august reset a year from now.
-
i cant find doom or wolfe for pre order.
-
Not available yet.

Not available yet.
but they will still come out in oct right?
-
Hmmm, no guarantees, but at the current pace it's possible. Wave 4 hit with 5 immediately behind it and 6's pre-orders went up right after that, so if you're counting the CW realistic guys as a Wave 7 dealio then it's possible they could hit in October.
They may not too.
-
Probably later than October actually... the little signs at SDCC said March 2015 for Wave 7. :-X
(http://www.jedidefender.com/gallery/files/gallery/Conventions/San_Diego_Comic_Con_2014/Hasbro/IMG_3577.JPG)

OK, yeah... Then probably not October, no. :)

So is rex coming out this month? That's what my order from mortality toys

Don't believe it.

Up for preorder at BBTS

Interesting side note to your post is the listing for a TBS Imperial Navy Commander (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=HAS24293&mode=retail). I'm wondering if this is a straight-up reissue of the 2012 TVC figure or perhaps a repaint to honor the vintage Death Squad Commander?
-
Dutch preorder sold out but yet aren't there people whining Reb pilots don't sell?

It's all of those Rosey LaRose fans who are scooping up the new Dutch Vanders.

According to JTA's Q&A with Hasbro reps, it's just a straight repack (same with the RFT).

I would hope that they fix the shoulder emblem at the very least.
-
I can all but guarantee they don't. I don't know why there was much hope they were gonna do repaints or head changes, honestly. Hasbro doesn't seem keen on attempting that stuff outside of a droid any longer.

Carded #11 Chewbacca (http://yakfaceforums.com/main/2015/02/19/chewbacca-reveals-carded-tbs-chewbacca/)

I'm going to be lazy and ask a question without reading the thread... Is there anything new about that chewbacca? For some reason I thought it was going to be Boushh's prisoner version, but it looks like the sandstorm head on the usual VOTC body.
-
From SDCC last year, it's was supposed to be a brand new head on the VOTC Chewie body. The head was tooled so that the Yavin Medal (the one included with Leia) could fit on him.
Of course, given all the change that's happened to the line in the last year, I suppose they could have bailed on tooling that new head and just used an existing Chewie.
-
Thanks for the info Jeff. Now I seem to remember reading that at some point after one of last years cons. I gotta say with the recent price hike just a new head sculpt is something of a slap in the face. with a higher price I would want to see some added articulation, perhaps in the form of hinged wrists or a double jointed neck like the larger scale black series figures.
-
Head looks very new, body old. Good figure, but meh for $13 unfortunately. That's the issue with the price hike... Stuff like this won't cut it for me, whereas I'd have bought it just for that one scene a year ago and been relatively happy. :-\
-
I dunno, I still think VOTC/Early Bird Chewie is one of the best figures Hasbro has ever put out. Really looking forward to this one, unlike a lot of rehashes.
-
A year ago I would've too, but at the price for a new head, I'm out. I love VOTC Chewbacca as well though. I don't like the paint on this, nor the lack of new is my gripe. This is where price makes me much more picky than I would've been otherwise.
-
I don't know what it is, but I'm just not all that crazy about the lineup for this particular wave. I'm definitely far more into TBS wave 8 than this wave.
I usually love any and all new Chewbacca figures. He's always been a favorite of mine. But something about that carded pic from Peter Mayhew's FB page just isn't doing it for me.
Medal Ceremony Leia? Meh. I see this figure and it reminds me of that pegwarming POTF2 Flashback Leia from 1999.
A revised Gold Leader is kind of a question mark to me because he's been done before. Sure, he was one of the most important Rebel Pilots from the Battle of Yavin. But there's still another pilot from the Battle of Yavin who had comparable amounts of dialogue that hasn't been made before: Theron Nett, call sign Red 10. What gives?
As for the Clones? I'm glad to see the realistic Rex get done. That figure will fit in well with those realistic versions of Anakin, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka from the TVC line.
The alternate version of Commander Wolffe is actually pretty cool. I actually needed a refresher to realize that this version of Wolffe was from the lost season of CLONE WARS. But Commander Doom? I saw the Clone Wars episode featuring Doom. At the time I didn't get the connection with his armor design, and that's probably because I didn't catch his name during the show. But now? The armor design and name combined actually look a little silly to me. I get the whole Doctor Doom homage, but this seems to have gone overboard.
-
I know I'm waiting it out a lil while looking for something else I want to hit pre-order. Hoping it hits soon before I have to commit to an order. :-\
-

I'm not a big Marvel Comics guy, so I didn't catch that at first either. Same for Commander THORn, with his z-6 'hammer' cannon and the painted wings on his helmet.
Makes me wonder how many more Marvel ClonesTM there are hidden in the Clone Wars...
-
Well, with the CLONE WARS series over I don't think Dave Filoni is going to be able to cook up any more new Clone commanders in homage to Marvel Comics characters. So it seems unlikely that we're going to get Clone Commander Stark or Clone Captain Merka any time soon.

Ceremony Leia bumped to the next wave, according to Hasbro, via BBTS.
EDIT:
It appears an extra Stormtrooper may be in the case now. There are doubles of Rex, Stormtrooper, and Wolfe. I can't recall the original case breakdown to confirm if one of those is a new addition or not.

Has the Stormtrooper been shown at one of the shows, or is it presumed to be a Vintage repack like the Navy Commander?

Pics I caught online are the crummy one, basically. The one with the rifle and such. I thought it came out in TBS earlier? I seem to recall it being out anyway.
-

Yes, a second Stormtrooper was added to replace Leia apparently. The case always had doubles of Rex and Wollfe.
Has the Stormtrooper been shown at one of the shows, or is it presumed to be a Vintage repack like the Navy Commander?
The pics everyone is using are the one that got packed in the Black Series, the TLC Dewback Sandtrooper minus the Sandtrooper gear one.
-
Thanks for the info Jesse and Jeff! I forgot about the Black Series "Orange" Stormtrooper. If the paint apps are cleaned up on this re-release I may end up grabbing a few.
-
So what is meaningfully new in this wave?
-
Since Yavin Ceremony Leia has been pulled from the wave, you've got:
Pretty much ALL-NEW:
2015 #xx Captain Rex
2015 #xx Clone Commander Doom
2015 #xx Clone Colmmander Wolffe
Pretty much just a NEW HEAD on an old body:
2015 #xx Darth Vader (Yoda's Test)
2015 #xx Chewbacca (Yavin)
2015 #xx Jon 'Dutch' Vander
There was some debate on Vader whether he was an ALL-NEW sculpt, or just a new head on the newest Vader body - I don't recall what Hasbro said on that one...
REPACK:
2015 #02 Luke Skywalker (Hoth)
2015 #xx Imperial Navy Commander
2015 #xx Stormtrooper

The case was hurting as it was... I wound up going with 2x each individuals on the Clones and Dutch. I'm splitting the order with a local buddy. Free shipping, and Rex was only $11.99, so it worked out for us to do it that way. We'll save over buying a whole case and eating the stormtroopers, the Hoth Luke, etc.
I'm not a big fan of that Chewbacca for the price, ultimately. I wanted it to put with the Leia but not for $13. I'll play the waiting game there.
I love the Clones for what they are... All are interesting armor, unique decos, and besides Doom, I think they're decent choices. I would've preferred a SA Phase I Bly to Doom, but that's me. I'm all about Phase I versions of guys like him, or Cody even. Cody would be absolutely awesome with a Phase I sculpt, especially since the early episodes made you think he and Rex were going to be best buds.
Dutch, I'll buy any Rebel Pilot... His preorder sold out on BBTS, despite "Rebel Pilots don't sell well" mantra, so I'm glad I got my order in on him at Entertainment Earth. He is, like so many others, a needed upgrade.
I'm not a fan of the pricehike but dealing with it... It is what it is, and if I still like figures I'm still into them regardless of the cost. I'll just be more particular on things like that Chewbacca, for sure.
Leia getting pushed back... Any theories why? I'm thinking it was a case costing issue, and she's bumped to the next assortment (since it's the last TBS one), but I'm not really sure why they'd go that route either. Perhaps they think a Stormtrooper makes more sense right now? With the toon and all, I mean. Leia maybe will balance out the next wave's cost to some degree perhaps.
-
I want a few of the figures from this wave, but it looks like Wave 8 (possibly last wave?) will have more that I'm looking forward to and likely be tough to find due to it being the last thing prior to the Force Awakens push. I am excited for that Chewie, as well as Rex, Dutch, and Vader. I like the clones too, but just not sure if I want to continue with all the clone repaints. They do look neat, but it is just tough to find room for them all anymore, and I'd rather focus on the OT stuff at this point.
-
On 8 I'm probably going to just get a case and deal with it whatever it may be.
-
Carded #11 Chewbacca (http://yakfaceforums.com/main/2015/02/19/chewbacca-reveals-carded-tbs-chewbacca/)
Does Chewbacca look a little sort of now familiar to some figures from the past?
-
Getting a case might be a good deal for this one. I can probably unload the extra clones no problem and just be left with an extra Luke. The Troopers will just get added to my army.
-
So Leia is dropped from waves 7 AND 8 now, YakFace is reporting. I'll still order a case of Wave 8, but there's very little from 7 that I want now.
-
If it's to fix it, great...
Wave 8's still far more important to me, with Mosep and Han Carbo. I'll take the Clones and spread 'em around I guess.
-
Given the recent firestorm over the 'where's the female figures Hasbro?' question that came out of the JTA TF Q&A, I feel compelled - why I don't know, because I absolutely don't have the time in my day to stop and ponder the inequities facing adults with disposable income - to comment on the reaction to the possibility Ceremony Leia is cancelled today. I suppose it's my concern with where the hobby is headed. I've collected SW and SW toys since I was 3 years old. I'm 40 now. I'm like a lot of people that care about this mythology and these toys enough to have it be part of my entire life. I said before regarding the Q&A that women in SW is a problem with the brand itself. As a writer of fiction, as an avid reader and cinephile, I advocate for better female representation in media, especially Hollywood. I advocate for it in SW. My initial reaction to the TFA cast announcement was the same as a large number of people - wow, there's one girl. Hasbro can always do better by female figures - still waiting on Dorme, Satine and Night Sisters, FYI Hasbro - but what percentage of female characters in SW media get figures? Without being very scientific about it, I'd wager it's a much, much higher percentage than the number of women in SW vis-a-vis men.
I love my hobby, I love enthusiasm, but I don't like the rampant negativity or inattention to the facts that breeds undue speculation and further negativity. In all likelihood, this figure is not in wave 8. But before we attack Hasbro again for what it isn't doing re: female figures, and pile on a controversy that was created by the people currently piling on, can we:
1) Confirm with Hasbro that the figure is delayed/cancelled/whatever before saying it is? I understand that since 1995 most of this hobby has been rumors (and totally BS ones) but with the Toy Fair debacle, the hobby veered blindly into a cultural issue where speculation has no place. Debating a real, serious issue like female representation in media demands you have context and facts.
2) Understand that this is one of FOUR 3 3/4 inch Leia figures that will be available this year alone. When was the last time, outside of the Princess Leia collection back in '98, that this ever happened? Never, that's when. That doesn't take into consideration the Leia(s) we'll see from TFA this fall, of which we can be assured. These four OT Leia figures also comprise a group of 6 total female figures that are/will be available this spring/summer, including Sabine and Hera. When was the last time that happened? It could be it did with one of the prequels, not sure, but when you step back and take a look at the boy's aisle today, that's pretty uncommon if not unheard of. Most of these figures are in a segment of the line aimed directly at kids and not collectors.
3) Since The Black Series / Saga Legends lines launched in 2013, there have been 11 female figures including the ones mentioned above. Someone correct me if I've left any out.
4) This is all in addition to the Boushh Leia in the 6 inch range due soon. Now that wave was pulled for solicitation recently, but I'm thinking that has more to do (maybe Wave 8 does too) with the fact that there's this little movie called The Force Awakens coming out and Hasbro is running up against itself with product dropping 9/4. It's March, basically April, and we're looking at A LOT of TBS having a very limited shelf life before retail moves on. That sucks for the figures in these waves, and not just Leia.
I don't know. I think this is much ado about nothing, but I dislike strongly the type of internet 'post and it's journalism!' mentality that is currently running rampant through this hobby. 99% of this I shrug off because it's my hobby and I like my hobby, mostly, but lately I feel something has changed. Perspective is always healthy, especially when it comes to TOYS, and anyways. My two cents.
-
At this point I'm kind of hoping that wave 8 gets delayed until after EVII. Between the price hike and "last wave syndrome" the four new figures that are at one per case (Mosep, Han, Jawas and Boussh Leia) are going to be almost impossible to get at anywhere near a reasonable price.
-
Assuming this all pans out as said, I've ordered enough of the Wave 7 individuals I'm splitting with a local that it'll work out fine for us... Either I'll order a case of 8 and just be done, or individuals, or whatever. I'm not terribly concerned either way, but the 8 case breakdown is total ass.
-
So Leia is dropped from waves 7 AND 8 now, YakFace is reporting. I'll still order a case of Wave 8, but there's very little from 7 that I want now.
Leia is delayed due to production issues with the soft goods still - coming later this year. (http://yakfaceforums.com/main/2015/03/18/confirmed-new-princess-leia-yavin-ceremonial-not-canceled)
-
The delay sucks I guess, but glad to know that at the end of the day Chewbacca is going to finally get his medal. :P
More interesting to me - if she's still coming "later this year", is that confirmation that there will indeed be "collector quality" 3.75" figures somewhere in the plan for the Fall?
-
I'm sure there will be plenty the closer we get to TFA. But all the waiting and not knowing sucks balls.
-
I wish we had a "favorite" option here because I'd have done so for Jeff's post.
I would also add to your post that an OT figure could be in the mix with TFA figures... That's interesting too. Mixing old/new together in a movie year will be interesting and maybe ease up that ice jam of figures and how we'll get our (Insert wished for OT figure here) when a new movie is out every year.
-
I like the idea of the intermixing of OT and ST trilogy characters in assortments. I could see them doing a ultimate galactic hunt type thing where they insert one character from the original trilogy as a flashback figure that ships along side their TFA look.
-
Yeah I'm cool with it, and it helps collectors not freak over those obscure guys we've not gotten and the remakes we still want. I'd love to see them kinda avoid OT over PT on it, but they paid for all of it so it is what it is.
Seeing some old guard mixed in with the new though, that'll be neat if it comes to fruition.
-
They have been doing an ultimate galactic hunt for the last couple of years by not selling these at retail.
-
Finally got around to checking out the Viperskingdom (http://jedidefender.com/index.php?id=1483) auctions that Jesse posted to the front page.
Um... WTF went wrong with that Dagobah Luke/Vader?
For your consideration:
- The SDCC press photo (http://www.jedidefender.com/gallery/files/gallery/Conventions/San_Diego_Comic_Con_2014/Hasbro/Official_Press_Images/Black_Series_-_3.75_inch/hasbro_blackseries_4in_dagobahvader.jpg) and the loose auction photos (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-Black-Series-wave-7-Dark-Vader-loose-2015-B6-/391096203311?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5b0f26782f)
- Is it just the angle of the pic that makes the head look out of proportion?
- The production cape looks horrible compared to the SDCC cape.
- The SDCC pic did a great job of using the skirt to hide what looks like... unarticulated legs? Really? On a $13 'collector' figure?
After the awesomeness of 2014 #03 Vader, this new one... just kinda sucks. :(
-
Umm, what is going on with the distribution on these figures? Just saw that EE (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HSA5077G#.VSbccPnF98E) has a case of these for pre-order for $165!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think I've seen any replenishment of TBS figures at Target or TRU since Christmas.
Mission Series and Legends have been coming through (at least at Target) distribution for the past month, but nothing from TBS.
Anybody know if we're going to see these figures at retail or if these are all getting dumped overseas?
-
Just saw that EE (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HSA5077G&id=JE-405087801) has a case of these for pre-order for $165!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, that would be the new $13 price tag plus EE pretty much hiding the shipping cost into the case this time (the extra $15 on top of the $150 BBTS and others are charging).
This wave was still planned for retail last time I checked, but at the rate we're going, no one is going to care -
- $13 price is pretty terrible for the repacked figures - Hoth Luke, Imp Navy Dude, Stormtrooper
- Ceremony Leia got punted into Fall 2015 (at the earliest, if not 2016)
- Chewbacca is pretty much just a new head (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=23546.msg579108#msg579108) on an old body for $13
- Dutch Vander is pretty much just a new head on an old body for $13
- Dagobah Vader is horrible (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=23546.msg580181#msg580181) for $13
- the scale on the clones is all over the place (http://forum.rebelscum.com/t1112243-11/)

Holy ****balls...just saw some pics of the three clones standing next to each other...three different Heights. I've been pretty silent on all of the Hasblow bashing of late but it is this kind of stuff that has me really doubting the thought process and Quality Control happening over there
I also saw a pic somewhere of Boushh and Slave Leia, there is a noticeable in those as well

Like I was saying yesterday to Dave, the whole wave is pretty much a disaster at this point. An over-priced ($13), out of scale disaster.
Seeing the prototypes at SDCC'14 had me excited for this wave, but seeing the final products (especially that Dagobah Vader and the scale issues on the Clones) has me wondering why I should buy any of them at $13 each. :-\
-
Yup, this is some BS on that Leia. Not seen the Clones, but don't doubt it is bad. Rex looked tall in early images I saw. He's rocking that slender body which I don't think is all that great.
The other two look more proportional, or at least they did anyway.

-
Is the pic of the 6 inch Leia's? Looks like it. But yeah, scale issues all of a sudden. Which is odd since on the SL/MS side they've been hitting that part of it out of the park lately.
-
Looks like an evolutionary chart, haha.
-
It seems inconceivable that a company could let such a flagrant disregard for quality control pass mustard. And yet, I can't unseen that.
-
I'm wondering if that rumor that Hasbro is trying to get out of making 3.75 inch figures by giving us crap quality is actually true.

Not working, too many people are eating the crap up.

No company would do this. Their ultimate goal is to make a profit, they would never intentionally release toys that were bad with the hope that fans don't buy them. What logical purpose would that serve? If they really wanted to stop producing 3.75" figures they would just stop producing them.

100% right. Companies cancel lines or flavors or particular products all the time. There's no real indication that Hasbro's getting out of the 3 3/4" business. If anything they're gearing up for a major line launch just in time for the holidays. Fact is, the lack of films has probably sent Star Wars to the back burner over the last 5 or so years. I think that's getting ready to change in a big way.
-
I hope so. I saw a ton of figures I want from that last trailer!
-
(http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg27/TK-412/IMAG2677_1_zpssf5m3kes.jpg)
OMG. That's just ******* ridiculous.
Note to Hasbro: they're CLONES.
-
Did anyone get pictures of the Imperial Navy guy at celebration and confirm whether or not they changed the shoulder logo?
-
Everything I've read is that it is unchanged. CHANGING WOULD COST MONEY/EFFORT.
-
No changes yeah.
Which I'm fine with it... I wiped the logos off a few of mine anyway, haha. I just like the figure enough, never cared I guess.
I'd probably have wanted new hair deco over that shoulder changing even. I guess I just don't care enough.
Though At the price hike, I'm not army building like I had either anyway. :-\
-
Does anyone else feel like they are checking hasbrotoyshop waaaaay too often?
-
So "Rex" went up on hasbrotoyshop with a picture of Dagobah Test Luke and is now sold out. I emailed Hasbrotoyshop to ask which one it actually is with no response. Unbelievable.
-
Turns out it was Vader not Rex.
-
Hasbro is so messed up. (Understatement of the year, I know. :P)
HasbroToyShop put up a few figures from this wave... all sold out right now:
- Dagobah Vader (http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/star-wars-the-black-series-darth-vader-dagobah-figure?BR=495&ID=34014)
- Chewbacca (http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/star-wars-the-black-series-chewbacca-figure-A9111?BR=495&ID=34017)
- Dutch (http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/star-wars-the-black-series-jon-dutch-vander-gold-squadron-rebel-pilot-figure?BR=495&ID=34016)
So many questions... why didn't they put up the whole wave plus the repacks? And what's up with the $10 price on them? Seems odd they ramped up the MSRP/price to the retailers/etailers who are all charging $13+ and then they just kept the old $10 price when they posted them here...
-
Managed to score those from HTS early this morning. The only downside was that I couldn't find a current coupon code that would bring the shipping costs down. Still, $35 for three TBS 3.75" figures shipped isn't terrible.
-
Price just went up. I honestly think they didn't sell out but we're pulled because they all went down at once. I was holding off until the whole wave showed because I wanted the free shipping. They had Rex listed at one point with vaders pic. I called and they pulled it because they weren't certain what figure was actually being sold. Sigh...good old hasbro
-
Much to my shock, the Dutch, Chewie, and Vader Dagobah are on hts
-
I got a shipping notification, too. It just seems so strange that they would list Vader, Chewbacca and Dutch without any of the three Clones. Those Clone Commanders don't even show up as Out Of Stock on HTS.
-
I can assure you the clones never appeared, I checked very often. They listed Rex with his bio but had the picture of Vader ip. When I called hasbrotoyshop they pulled it and said the were unsure what figure was actually for sale, the Vader or Rex. Then Vader went up and the next day Chewie and Dutch popped up. This morning all 3 went to out of stock at the exact time.
-
Looks like they pulled the three that were up, Vader, Chewie and Dutch, to correct the price. Now Rex is up. Looks like they're putting one new figure up per day. :P
-
Which is really obnoxious as far as trying to get good shipping cost

Best I can tell Target is getting ONE new figure each. Today I saw Dutch, Rex, and Wolffe all at different Targets and that one figure was all they each had.
-
Sure one new figure for each empty peg. Target keeps every other toy stocked but Star Wars figures are never stocked. That EP1 3D stuff must have really ticked off someone in Target's purchasing.
-
I just grabbed all 6 black series figures I wanted at a Toys R Us in CT. Left the stormtrooper and navy officer repacks. Best part is they are still 10 bucks each!
-

Just like HTS. Putting one new figure up per day, or every other day since nothing new went up today.

they're waiting for me to break down and order Rex, and only after that will the other clones be listed. ::)
I've been trying to hold off all week but they seem content to wait me out. Bastages.
My local Targets each had a lone Hoth Luke. Literally the worst/boringest figure in the whole wave. >:(
-
There is a coupon for 15% off my next purchase.
-
Grabbed Wolfe, Rex, and Dag Vader at TRU. Doom was MIA.
It's not just Wolfe's height; the proportions are so way off -- torso, shoe, neck length (ie, spacing between clavicles and bottom of the helmet); helmet shape.
And the head/helmet on both clones pop off fairly easy.
Rex's skirting should have been made from more pliable plastic. And his knee joint -- I was afraid I was going to break it while bending the knee.
I wonder how long ago these 2 were developed.
-
I'm not looking for an actual answer here, but how can HTS still not have put Doom up on their site yet? Is Target providing them with their website inventory?
-
Lol! I was thinking the same thing. Pretty dang frustrating. Was thinking of giving them a call, but I'm sure no one would have any clue as to what I was talking about.
-
My local Target got two Darth Malguses (Malgi?) from the last wave, so that doesn't bode well for them actually getting wave 7, much less wave 8. Given that the pegs have been bare since before Christmas and their 12.99 price hike, I'm not anticipating a rush to stock much of anything as it relates to Star Wars until September rolls around. Even then, I'd be willing to bet that Target (or at least my Target) won't have their stuff out on time since they typically seem to drag about 3-5 days behind other retailers when it comes to time-sensitive displays in my region.
-

Earlier when they first rolled out Dutch, Vader and Chewie I called and asked if the rest would be released. They gave some canned answer and referred me to a customer satisfaction line. I'm glad I didn't panic order and a few days later found the comete wave at TRU for cheaper.
-
I've seen a couple of the Stormtroopers in the wild on one occasion, but that's it for this wave at brick & mortar retail. However it was very encouraging to see that Target was pricing these at $9.99 each, and not the ridiculous way that TRU is currently pricing their figures.
-
So TRU is charging more than Target in your area?
-

Quite the opposite in the Boston area. Unpaid 9.99 at toys r us. Targets range between 13 and as high as 15.50 per figure
-
I caved today and bought the retooled Stormtrooper at TRU.
-
I think my Wv7 are shipping from EE?
Also, 89 of Gold Leader sold from China, "but Rebel Pilots don't sell". ::)
-
I picked up 3 more Wolffes at Target last night, but no sign of any more Dooms. :(
-
HTS finally put up Doom. I just don't get why it took so long. ???
-
Got my Wv7 figs... Some thoughts on them:
-Capt. Rex is maybe my biggest disappointment. The paint apps are the most numerous, but some of them are so-so at best, and I guess I just really had hoped for a little more umph from his as a figure. I would really have appreciated a removable helmet since Rex spends like 50% of his time with his helmet off anytime you see him on screen. It's a major plus they could've added.
-Commander Doom... I barely remember who he is, actually, so his getting a realistic figure before a Phase I Cody kinda irks me. That said, he's probably far more interesting in my hands than I thought he was in pictures. No clue why, I just find him kinda cool looking and his deco surely stands out on the clone shelf. I dig it, and am glad to add him to my army.
-Commander Wolffe... He's short, but he's easily the best of the bunch. He's rocking the heavy duty articulation, and he's got the cloth Kama which is also multi-colored. He's got the most interesting armor and features just a lot of nice detailing in the sculpt. Top to bottom he's my favorite.
Regarding the scale issues, I recall people bitching all 3 were off, but actually Rex/Doom are quite fine together. Not sure what these scale comparisons were using figure-wise, but my Rex and Doom look pretty spot-on to each other. Wolffe is REALLY short compared to them... And yeah that blows, but I think it's not the biggest gaffe they've made. Compare the K-Mart AT-ST Driver to just about any Imperial figure you own, and you'll see this happens sometimes.
And to that point, Doom/Rex are a tad taller than a lot of figures too, so them compared to Wolffe is pretty glaring, but compared to other figures in the line, Wolffe sometimes fits in better, and sometimes Rex/Doom fit in better. It's weird.
And of course $13/figure blows... Kind of a dead horse at this point.
So my big gripe? Rex doesn't have a removable bucket. I really would love to see that. And I'd love to see a Phase I Rex because Phase II is meh. Phase I Rex/Cody and a realistic young Ahsoka, would all be great to see at some point.
I'm looking forward to Wave 8 though. Clones just don't get me jonesin' like I used to. I'm anxious for some OT goodness, especially a Han update I've been wanting for what seems like eons.
-
I just opened this set myself last night. This is one of the few times that I've ever actually been down on a release wave and as I studied the figures, moved all their joints and such, I realized why: Half of the figures use out of scale parts within themselves. For example, Rex's head is just too small as is Wolf's and his torso. Vader's head is too big and awkward. I think that right there is what makes this wave a disappointment.
-
I'd agree with that, though I think Wolffe's head is probably relatively proportional to his body.
Rex's helmet is definitely on the small side. Then again everyone seemed to bitch about removable helmets being too large, sooooo? I dunno. I'd take a removable helmet any day, and let the people who complain about it just deal with it, but that's just me. I consider that a bigger flaw since Rex really is more than a regular Clone, and spends so much time helmetless.
-
I was thinking about picking up a second Rex to make a 'removable helmet' version using an old clone head sculpt and helmet.
Then I remembered that these figures are hard to find at a retail store and cost $13 each. Plan abandoned. :P
-
I actually saw Rex at retail, along with Dagobah Vader, and passed them up. Those were first new figures I've seen since 2014. If I have the character in some form, at $13 I'll pass.
-
I'm definitely pickier on the "do I buy a 2nd to customize?" debate in my mind these days.
I'm not hesitating on Carbo Han though, or even Mosep, but mostly on the latter one for casting library purposes.
There would be a lot need to go into Rex for a removable helmet, or that's how I feel anyway. The head is so unique with his haircut... It'd take a bit in my mind. I want to do one too, and a Phase I version.
I wish they still dolled out figures like the "Clone Commander" from TVC... THAT was how all Clones should be done. :)
-
I actually saw the wave at Target and they were priced at $15.50 a piece. Couldn't bring myself to pay that much. Guess I'm done collecting SW figures...
-
These have been trickling into our local Target as well, and I've picked up a few. I have to say though, I did feel a little bit of buyer's remorse. $13 really does seem like a lot for these figures. I know its been said on here before, but I guess I haven't really picked much up since the most recent price increases. I passed on the clones (although I was tempted with Doom just because of the Marvel tie), but picked up Gold Leader, Chewie, and Dagobah Vader. I'd like to get Rex as well, if/when he shows up. I know we still have no idea what type of figures we'll see for the new movie(s), but I hope they can find a happy medium because I just don't think I can keep up at $13 each.
