i was wondering how do you become a forum moderator?

i was wondering how do you become a forum moderator?
I think it has to do with boxes of hooters hot wings or something like that. ;D
In reality I think the site Admins and the mods on the board will look at the members and see who they like. If a need arises for more mods then they will propbally ask those people to be mods.

Man, the mods were picked closer to the time the forums were set up, not that they were ever needed.
It would be like putting riot police in an old folks home. Totally unnecessary.
But to answer your question, cutting a generous check in Chris' name always helps. :-*

Yeah, these forums definately don't need mods, which is a big thing I love about coming over here.
Where some of the Star Wars Collecting forums are like hopping nightclubs, this place is kind of like the hole in the wall bar. It attracts a loyal crowd, but never gets out of hand, and "everybody knows your name".... Not to imply we are all a bunch of raging alcoholics or anything ;)

You might start posting over at Rebelscum, actually.
For one thing, as proven by their "fine" moderators such as Bounty Hunter GNT and Lord Stumpy, their standards for hiring mods aren't as high as they are here (apologies Josh). You'd probably fit right in over there, and could make mod in no time.
And something else, they will also reward your prolific posting habits with many different "ranks" that you can "achieve", along with some neat little colored boxes that will increase with each new level you get to.
Overall, you would have a much, much more enjoyable time at Rebelscum than you would here.

My gawd, stay here please. You don't want to read through the posts of some of those people. The only things you can find at RS are fights in the Saga section, 87 billion "DVDs This WEEK/yEAr" threads, and political discussion. Oh yeah, not to mention "Greg(g)" and "Eli-Durge".
JD is a good place to hang. Like they said, no mods are really needed (Have they ever locked a thread here?), and the members are friendly as ever. I'm just so fed up with 'Scum that I'm starting to spend more and more time there.

Well, Texas, while your experience was certainly the exception, and not the rule, taking a look at it, I can't help but think that Rebelscum might be a little more equipped to meet Mainland05's needs than JD.
They have a much superior forum than we do here.
We are the dregs.
I think he'd have a much better time over there.

I wish my friend Newman would join these boards,RS is so childish and they have no taste for sarcasm as I'm sure AE can attest to.
That said,the only reason I'm still on scum is because I have some friends there survivors starting soon.Other than that,I kinda just like to see them tear each other apart.Though I have a feeling I'll be banned soon.Good times.

Not my style,I prefer insidious backhanded actions first followed by a full on OCBesq attack with multiple threads in one night and a board wide post pad(even though he was just in wuhers).But,I don't think that's going to happen,yet.

No true requirements, just as long as you participate. It's just like the show Survivor. There's an entire thread about it over there that explains the details.

In order for this thread to remain on-topic, so we can please Mainland05, it is now mandatory that everyone who replies here from now on include in their post both the qualifications for becoming a moderator, and the instructions on how one can achieve the all-important "Jedi Master" rank, so Mainland05 can put those on his college applications eight years from now.

Moderators are chosen by myself with the suggestions of the staff when we are in a situation that requires new moderators. We have not been in that situation for many, many months and I don't see the need for more in the near future. We have an excellent group of people here at the site that really don't need babysitting; we have fun and don't cause problems. This is a hobby that should be fun and no one is here to be bossy or just plain annoying, the staff is here to run the site and to promote the well being of the forums. Just continue to play nice and we will continue to run the site in an easy-going manner. Simple enough.

I think this is the first time I've ever seen anyone mention post counts here, or express a desire to become a moderator. Not really how things go here, from what I've seen. Didn't think anyone cared about that stuff at JD. I'd agree with the staff members that already replied, that there's not even a need for mods around here that I've ever seen. Couple "situations" popped up briefly here and there, but were squashed almost immediately. Other than that, I've completely forgotten that there's even mods at this site. Most of them just seem to be part of the regular gang, which is a big reason why I enjoy it here! 8)
