Title: Aren't You A Little... Uh, Tall? For A Death Star Trooper?
Post by: Jesse James on April 18, 2007, 06:06 PM
Looking at the image jedijaybird took comparing the new Death Star Trooper to an average height Imp. Figure in a similar get-up, what methods will folks be using to shorten the guy to a more proportional height?

I'm thinking a slight hacking at the ankles with a new hole drilled up into the shin (and reinsert the foot) might be sufficient...  His calves look "long" to me for some reason, plus I guess the boot isn't accurate to the character's boot style in the film as well, so that's food for thought.

Anyone going to run with this or just leave the DST as-is?  Some "taller", and some shortened perhaps?  Might be a good mix to get variety in height that isn't awkward looking too.

This is Hasbro's answer to your begging for bigger toys.    :-X

I got a third one of these today...I'll do it.  I'll take pics this weekend.

Is it just me or does he have thr profile of David Duchovny.

I'll probably keep the head and helmets and slap it on one of my SA Imperial Officers,

Here's a pic with the old style helmet.

He is kind of tall.  But really, I don't see myself doing too much about it.  If I did, I'd end up needing to make changes to all of them and I really don't feel like messing with that.  If anything, I might give him just different legs.  I can't stand how the knees look.  Other than that, I really like the figure.

All i did was swap out the lower legs with the DSG lower legs.  I'll probably go back and recess the upper legs a bit more for a better look.  it fits very well as it is. the recess in the DSG legs hides the ball joints so i'm going for that look. And surprisingly the lower legs of the DST looks kinda cool on the DSG.  it also puts them closer in height.

What if you took a small section out of the boots?

Heres the pic.  i also swapped the hands w/the DSG.  I'll probably go bac and recess the upper thighs on the dst.  the boots on the DSG are from the DST

How did you swap out the knees like that? I figured you did the whole leg, but I do not see the DSG pockes on yours?

It's reall y pretty dern simple - just boil & pop on both figures. The shins come out real easy like. Did the same to mine. I just couldn't stand the DST legs (or arms for that matter - gonna have to change over the gloves like you have here)

Yep thats it.  there are no pockets below the knee on the DSG.  it may not be movie acurate but i think it looks better.  the legs from the DST dont look TOO bad on the DSG; atleast its not sacrificing one for the other.  the gloves from the DST dont fit so well on the DSG, so i'm just sticking to the leg swap.  i'm still thinking of expanding the recess on the dst legs to further hide the knee joints.

Wow, I had no idea the ball jointed knee would pop off like that! I will have to try it out Thanks, all!
