2014 Wave 1 Sets Revealed (http://toysnbricks.com/lego-star-wars-2014-set-numbers-and-names/)

Very PT heavy, which means my wallet will be happy!

Seems like a lackluster list.  Just about everything is a rehash of some sort.
Title: Re: LEGO 2014
Post by: Brian on August 15, 2013, 08:34 PM
Yeah, kind of a boring list so far.  Is there anything OT in the regular sets at all at this point?  Kind of interested in the replacements for the planet series, those were pretty cool.  I've got the other sizes of LEGO Falcons so far, so I'd be in for that one - whatever it is.

Pics! (http://www.mintinbox.net/Actus/13-08/1508lego_microfighter)

Those Recruitment sets look... eh. Might just snag them for the minifigs and extra parts. I'm all over that Royal Guard battle pack though. Also note the new deco for Chewie!

The micro fighters look silly, but I can see where they might appeal to younger kids more than the planet sets.  Not interested in much of anything here except that Imperial Guard/Gunner set.

Post by: Diddly on November 15, 2013, 04:44 AM
Yeah I want at least 4-5 of those Death Star gunner sets. Might snag the Anakin Jedi Fighter and the Wheelbike... I have one of the Jedi fighters from when ROTS came out and those are small, fun sets to swoosh around when you're bored. I don't buy PT stuff though so I'll be spending money on other LEGO lines I guess, or catching up on 2013 sets.
Title: Re: LEGO 2014
Post by: Brian on November 15, 2013, 12:54 PM
In for the Death Star sets as well, but otherwise, sort of boring for me.  I'm sure they will all be great sets, as LEGO always does nice work, but I only collect the OT stuff here too so there just isn't much for me unless we still see some surprises.  I still have some stuff to catch up on from this year (Sail Barge), and a couple other things I wouldn't mind picking up (like the Hoth set at TRU).  Oh well, won't complain about money saved either I guess.

The Microfighters look okay to me... might go nicely with the Slave I and Landspeeders I put together last year.

Yeah I saw these too.  I'm so bummed planets are dead.  I don't like these little ships.  I do want the set of guards and gunners though.  Very nice.
Title: Re: LEGO 2014
Post by: Diddly on February 23, 2014, 01:29 PM
Yeah that was my first of many of those troop sets. Would have picked up more but I did some numner crunching a few weeks back and I'm poised to spend around $1500 on LEGO product this year. :o Figured I should hold off until after I get some of the larger sets I want.

I did score the small Aqua Batman vs Penguin set... good stuff and I might try to make Penguin's duck boat a little bigher.

The Microfighters aren't all that bad - they are kinda cute and fun little sets to build. As far as cheap $10 Lego gift for the Star Wars/Lego fan you know, they can't be beat.

Getting them have made me want to bite the bullet and pick up some of the Comic Con Microfighters that have come out in years past - would be cool if they re-released them in this format, but I doubt it.

The only thing that upsets me about the Planet cancellation is that they made the last wave exclusive to Europe, so they'll cost an arm and a leg to complete. Guess that's how Canadians/non-Americans feel about Hasbro though.

My wife bought me the 3 OT planet sets off of Amazon for about $23 each.  Twice what they should cost, but not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

I'm mulling them over.  I wanted all 3, but I may limit myself to the B-Wing and Tantive IV.

I bought them off Amazon as well. Like I mentioned in the Recent Acquisitions thread, the $23/each price-tag wasn't great, but it was still better than the $90 for a set of three that they are getting on eBay.

Looks like the REALLY BIG set this year will be the Sandcrawler:

As has been pointed out on the Lego collecting sites - the Set Number (75059) can be seen in the lower-right-hand-corner of the image.

I started collecting LEGO right at the time the other set was being retired.  That being said if this is going to be $350 then I can probably keep living without one unless I find a good deal on it.

My estimate would be somewhere between $200 and $250. It looks big, but not as big as the Death Star or Super Star Destroyer sets.

Title: Re: LEGO 2014
Post by: Diddly on March 2, 2014, 11:35 PM
Yeah that new Sandcrawler looks to be about as big as the old one, which I think cost somewhere between $150 and $200. The old one was build mainly with bricks while this one looks like it's mostly plates. Plus think about stuff like the Ewok Village being $250. No way the Sandcrawler is more than that.

Apparently we'll get a Darth Revan minifig with $75+ purchase from May 3-5 (http://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-star-wars-darth-revan-is-may-the-fourth-promotion-minifigure/). Kind of lame, IMO, since there aren't any KOTOR sets for him to go with. Plus I was hoping for the red protocol droid.

I was hoping/thinking it would be the red Protocol Droid as well.

While not 100% accurate, Revan is in SW:TOR - so I'll just display him with those mini-figs/sets - probably the reason why they're making him in the first place since he makes an appearance in the game.

Would be super cool if an Ebon Hawk set was coming with Bastilla, HK-47, T3-M4, Carth and Zaalbar was on it's way.

With the exception of the polybag minifigs and miniships - I'm all caught up now with the 2014 Star Wars sets that have been released. Next purchase will be the Sandcrawler on May 4th!

Probably old news to the brickheads here, but I stumbled upon this today.

The 2014 CUUSOO set is going to be the Ghostbusters ECTO-1 vehicle (http://lego.gizmodo.com/hands-on-with-legos-wonderfully-detailed-ghostbusters-1524135884) with all 4 Ghostbusters.

I think this looks AWESOME!!!

Loved Ghostbusters as a kid and I think this sculpt is sweet.  I love Back to the Future too, but wasn't as impressed with the DeLorean they did last year.

They mention an MSRP of $50 and availability in June.  Yes please!

I'll check it out when it hits stores/online but I honestly still prefer the 2006 Slave I. Had the sand green colors and looked a lot closer to the color in the films. I'll see if I can get the Boba for cheap somewhere online.

Has anyone seen the Lego Advent calendars in stock and go on sale lately?

It seems starting last year there was far less stock of all of the advent calendars.  I didn't find a single one marked down last year, and haven't seen one in stores in weeks.

I've always tried to pick up this year's version on sale to give to the kids the following year, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen again this year.
Title: Re: LEGO 2014
Post by: JediJman on December 10, 2014, 03:17 PM
I was following that pattern, but finally gave up this year.  Sam figured out that he was getting last year's version after seeing the newer one in stores and talking with friends about what they got in their calendars.  I ended up just letting him open the last old one all at once over the weekend, then we kicked off with the 2014 set (which I bought at full price).  I got the 5% red card discount and we had another 5% from the pharmacy, so figured I wasn't going to save much more than that.

I had a much harder time trying to track down the Lego Friends version.  I'm not sure where it is carried outside of the Lego store and had trouble finding it online as well without forking over added shipping.  Out of luck/fate, I happened to see it at the airport in Amsterdam during a layover for just $25 and snagged it.

I'm not sure if they are producing less or if the demand is just getting bigger.  Seems like a lot of our neighborhood kids have them now, which I don't think was the case a few years back.  Small sample, but they seem a lot more popular now.
Title: Re: LEGO 2014
Post by: EdSolo on December 11, 2014, 06:55 AM
I had trouble with them this year as well and had to end up paying extra on amazon.  I am guessing that they made less this year since lego.com is sold out and so are all the stores.  My local lego store said they sold out of all of them in the first week of November and that they never got any new stock.
Title: Re: LEGO 2014
Post by: JediJman on December 11, 2014, 03:21 PM
See, that's where I think it's just higher demand.  Just speculation, but these have sold well in the past, so I don't know why Lego would reduce their production run.

Yeah, I scored the 2011 calendar on clearance and that's it. 2012 was rare here, and I found it a few days after Christmas at TRU, but had to pay $10 more. I bought 2013's edition when it first came out. I haven't seen any 2014 editions around here either.
Title: Re: LEGO 2014

They've all been pretty hard to come by in this area - so I pretty much snag it when I see it - this year the first place I saw it was Kmart and I had either $5 or $10 in Kmart rewards bucks that I used to get it - glad I did too, cause the only other place I saw it was Toys R Us and that was only once...
