** this is straight from the Hasbro Press Release - I'm not 100% sure yet what "Shared Fan" means... other than it means he's exclusive and a few $$ more that the basic TVC line.
-
Perhaps shared means various etailers will be selling him similar to the recent Piett?
-
Is this different than the last time we got a VOTC Gamorrean Guard? I only managed to get three if those and am all about adding a few more.
-
Steve Evans spoke about this in the video presentation that Jedi News posted. He said it was a shared exclusive but didn't really elaborate. I think he may offer up some more info when they have their panel on Sunday afternoon.
-
I never got one. What merits the markup in price? I remember the skirt needed trimming to make it look less like a puff ball.
-
This is Jayson's quote "it means that the guard won’t be available at retail but through sites like entertainment earth dorksidetoys, Amazon etc."

Other than the slight differences that will occur when making an item eight years after the first time, it's pretty much the same. It will even have the same VC21 number apparently.
Basically they are just doing it to help collectors fill their Sail Barges... makes you wonder what else they are planning to support the barge in 2019? #secrets :-X

In Brittany Murphy voice: I’ll never tell!

I wonder about the card backs. Will they be the same set of figure on the back from the original release? What do you all think? Should they be the same or updated?
-
I might buy one, but I scored a few Gamorreans from a local collector for cheap in like 2013, so I'm pretty good in terms of army building
-
None for me. No barge, no guards.
-
I need one more for my Jabba's Palace display (I originally wanted a total of 4 [two holding the staffs to guard the entrance, than one to hold each type of axe], and ended up getting 3).
-
I have a few of these already, but I'll probably get a couple for the barge.
-
A little anecdotal commentary, yesterday at the Kane County toy show I saw a couple of dealers selling these loose for $25-$30. Each had multiples early in the morning but by noon they were down to a couple each. So the market is there, hopefully the Gams will be easily available
-
Nothing is easily available. We will never see these at Target or Walmart.

Considering these are a "fan channel" exclusive heading to places like EE, BBTS, and other etailers - you're right about these probably not turning up at Target or Walmart. :P

Don’t need em but since I’m getting the guards I may throw a couple pigs in.

I did the same as well. I saw the report on the slight differences between the other two releases of this figure and generally it's not enough for me to care, but I'm going to want a couple to put on Jabba's Sail Barge, so I figured "why not?" when I put in my order for the 3-pack.
-
Placed my pre-order. Will be nice to round off my Gamorreans to an even 4.
-
How many Gammorean guards were there supposed to be on the barge vs. in the palace?
-
I think there were either 6 or 8 Gamorrean Guards in the palace. I'm not sure about the Sail barge.
-
I guess I'll probably need a couple guards for the barge. That should do it.

Without evidence to back it up, I thought I read somewhere that there were only 4 Gamorrean Guard outfits made for ROTJ.
-
I'm not an expert, but I believe it's pretty established in the old EU that Jabba had nine guards working for him (at the time of ROTJ) -
Gartogg - Palace
Ghana - Palace
Jubnuk - Palace (fell into the rancor pit with Luke)
"Thug" - Palace
Warlug - Palace
Ortugg - Palace (R2/3PO arrival) and then Sail Barge
Rogua - Palace (R2/3PO Arrival) and then Sail Barge
Scumbo - Palace & Sail Barge
Thok - Palace & Sail Barge
-
^ That looks good to me.
-
I think we should all take a moment to reflect on the fact that we as a community have obsessed over these films so much in the past 40 years that every background character has a name and probably a backstory as well.
-
Yeah, and a lot of those backstories are beyond pathetic. Don't get me started on IG-88 uploading his consciousness and taking control of the second Death Start moments before it's destruction. I think even Bo Shek uses the force at some point in the cantina, if I remember correctly, kickstarted by talking to Obi-Wan.
-
I guess my Gamorrean Guard is finally shipped from EE. Joy.
-
I finally got my Gammies from Dorkside. It took a little while, but it's nice to have them at last.
-
I've said it before, but it bears repeating. This is one of Hasbro's best efforts!
