Don't underestimate the spending power of an adult when it comes to high dollar items. Just because you wouldn't drop that kinda cash, doesn't mean some other Mom or Dad wouldn't.
Agreed... not everyone is going to be willing to shell that sort of dough out for themselves or for their kids (or both, ha ha)... I remember, my parents didn't have a problem getting me large items when I was a kid (Defiant Space Shutte... wow... didn't get much else that Christmas, but that sucker was so huge and awesome that I didn't care)... even though they really couldn't afford it, they still found a way to do it... my mom worked, and my dad worked two jobs to be able to provide for the family.
I know that when my kid's a little older, I'll do my best to be able to do the same thing for him to when it's something he really wants. Of course you don't want to overly spoil your kids, but I want my kid to have just as good, if not a better childhood experience than I had.
