Some of my thoughts.

CMS - My vote would be No for needing a CMS.  To me, the website is more about showing off and getting the word out about the UGP.  The boards at JD and YAK are really where all the discussion and behind the scenes action is taking place.  Any updates to the board would be more or less adding content to the different sections.  Any thoughts or questions would most like be asked (and answered on the boards).

As for the sites, I really like Elmeaux's site.  The layout and set up reminds me looking through a view screen or something like that.  Almost as if some one was veiwing a view-screen on a star destory.

Some of my thoughts on the site.

Site Sections - I think we've pretty much covered the needed sections, but I really like DmG's idea of having a section for all the members that are involved so people can see how massive a undertaking this thing really is.  Also maybe adding links to the JD and YAK descussion threads.

CMS vs Standard Setup - Joomla is fairly easy to use, modify, and customized, but I don't know if a CMS type of site is really needed for style of website.  It really depends on how frequent the site is going to updated and how much info is going posted.  Is the site going to be more of a site to showcase our ideas and progress or are we going to use the site to everyone update of the whole project.  I see the JD and Yak forum sections as the main way for project discussion and updates.

Site Design - I like how the main page is set up at the UGP site its very organized and clean.  Each section could be organized similiar to DmG's section to show the customs and other pics.  Maybe have the pics as smaller thumbnails to have the pages smaller and showcase more of the pics.

Congrats to you and your wife Phurby.  Great little Padawan you got there.

I like the banner... It ties the star wars customizing community together and shows that the project is bigger than just one site.

I can help with the webpage as well  Haven't been that involved in the UGP yet, but I help with any of web building if needed.

Over at CommandoCustoms.com, we had a group project for October to create some of Halloween's ghoulish creatures and the people who hunt there.  Here were my customs.

--------------
Background:
Throughout the Sacul Galaxy, creatures of supernatural proportions are beginning to appear. These creatures have no remorse for the death that they have caused. They are consumed with an un-natural hunger for blood and flesh. A group of Jedi, Bounty Hunters, and Republic soldiers have joined forces to destroy these evil creatures before the entire galaxy is consumed.

Trius Nokdal
Bio: A fearless Jedi who became the default leader of what the people have dubbed the "Monster Squad," Trius has made it his personal mission to eradicate the evil creatures before they can kill any more people. Trius uses a double bladed lightsaber gauntlet as his primary weapon against these creatures.

Part List:
Torso - Obi-Wan Kenobi (ROTS)
Head - Jurassic Park 3 General
Armor - Clone Trooper (ROTS)
Lightsaber Gauntlet - G.I. Joe Wrist Communicator w/ lightsabers

Trius Nokdal

Trius Nokdal - Geared up

Hyku Eedo
A former Bounty Hunter, Kyku joined the "Monster Squad" after his family has killed by a blood sucking gungan. He vowed to revenge his family's death at all cost and doesn't matter who or what gets in his way. Although unstable at times, he is a valuable member of the "Monster Squad" and has one of the highest kill counts of the team.

Parts List:
Head - GTG Casted Head
Torso - Djas Puhr
Helmet - AT-TE Trooper
Armor - AT-RT Driver & Clone Wars Saesee Tiin
Weapons: MJ's Pulse Rifle & GTG Machette

Geared Up

Re-Animated (Zombie) Clone Trooper
Throughout the galaxy, the remains of clone troopers that died during the many battles of the Clone Wars have been put to rest and forgotten. But for some of these troopers death was just the beginning, they have awaken. Mere decaying shells of their former selves, their only thought is of the hungry.

Parts List:
Body - Army of Darkness Deadite figure
Armor - Misc Clone Wars Trooper Armor

Vampyric Ewok
On the forested moon of Endor, a small but deadly creature haunts the nights of the moon's inhabitants. Once a cute and cuddly ewok, this creature now hunts the ones he once knew. Known to the ewoks as the "Nak'tula," or winged demon, this creature is rarely ever seen and when it is, it’s only seen at night. Most often the only evidence that the creature has been around is the lifeless corpses that have been drained of all their blood.

Parts List:
Body - Chief Chirpa (SAGA)
Wings - Nemesis Enforcer (G.I. Joe)

Over at Yakface.com, they had a challenge to create Order 66 survivors and here was my entry...  Jedi Knight Zaine Tarrak.

Parts List:
Head - G.I. Joe Saw Viper
Torso - ROTS Kit Fisto
Upper Legs - Ki Adi Mundi
Lower Arms & Legs - ROTS Clone Trooper

Zaine Tarrak was one of the few Jedi to survive the Emperor's order to destory the Jedi Knights.  Stationed out in the Outer Rims with a small contengient of clone troopers who tasked with shutting down a Seperatist droid factory.  When the order came in, the trooper were engaged in a heated battle with battle droids and could not comply with the order.  At the end of the battle, only Zaine and one badly injured clone trooper remained.  When the trooper attacked, Zaine was easily able to defend himself against the trooper.  After recieving the modified message from Obi-wan and Yoda, Zaine disappeared into the Outer Rim.

Thanks for the comments guys.  I'm really happy with how he turned out.  At first I didn't know how I felt with a stormtrooper with color on him.  But I'm happy with the results.

A few fellow customizers suggested adding a pauldron to him so I went with the all black one from the new sandtrooper. Let me know what you think.

Over at Yakface.com, they had a customizing challenge to create a Hybrid Trooper, a trooper that existed after ROTS or something like that.  I decided to make a version of an ARC Stormtrooper.

Let me know what you think.

Parts List:
Head & Torso:  VOTC Stormtrooper
Lower Arms, Lower Legs, & Kama: ROTS Clone Commander
Range Finder: VOTC Boba Fett
Rifle:  Modified Clone Rifle

I wonder if mine got lost in the mail.  They cashed my check over a month ago and I still haven't received anything.

Are there others still waiting?

I'm in the same boat here.  My check was cashed over a month ago as well, and still no signs of Georgetrooper.  Hopefully its still on the way, and maybe they just haven't made to this area yet.

My check was cashed a little over a month and I just recieved my today, so they should be arriving soon.  I was kinda disappointed in my.  Like others have stated, mine had the clamshell smashed, bubble smashed and the card was bent.

wow GM, alot of casting goodness with this post.  Nice job on the all the castings.  Your ultimate Jango head has just enough mods to it that it resembles the other clone heads but has a distint look to him that keeps him unique.

The Lucas head and helmet looks great.  How did you hand the ball joint on the ST torso? Did you cut it off and use a casted ball joint?
