"Peyton Manning (IND) pass right side complete to Marvin Harrison (IND) for a 3 yard touchdown. (0:45)"
Woot! Well, at least I know that I won't get shutout this week!

Yep - Manning's come through with 7 points for me so far... hopefully the Colts D will hold right now and he'll get a chance to throw a game-winner...
I doubt it will happen though. We'll know in a minute...
EDIT: whaddaya know... he'll get a chance at the 2 minute drill...

Yahoo Leagues are open
I've set up a league
http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1
http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/17395
League #: 17395
Password is berry
We'll do the draft like we did for Fantasy Baseball online here
I've set the league size at 8
And new this year...bench players :P
Oh and I did the scoring like it is my own personal league (minus the bonus points for long TD's)
PAssing TD 3 Pts
Passing Yards
0-100 1 Pt
101-200 2 pts
201-300 3 pts
301-400 4 pts
401-500 5 pts
Interception -1 pt
Rushing TD 6 pts
Rushing Yards
0-50 1 pt
51-100 2 pts
101-150 3 pts
151-200 4 pts
201-250 5 pts
Receiving TD 6 pts
Receiving Yards
0-50 1 pt
51-100 2 pts
101-150 3 pts
151-200 4 pts
201-250 5 pts
FG
0-49 Yds 3 pts
50 yds+ 6 pts
XP 1 pt
Sack 1 pt
Fumble Recovery 1 pt
Interception 1 pt
Safety 2 pts
Shutout 6 pts
2 Point Conversion 2pts for that player
Hey Scott? Is something wrong with the QB Passing points? Right now Manning has 209 yards (3 points) 2 TD passes (6 points) and one INT (-1 point) but I'm only getting 7 points for him - according to what I quoted above that should be worth 8 points... I'm under the impression it's adding everything up as we go along...
-
I just noticed that too...all passing, rushing and receiving yards don't seem to be giving that first point
-
Is that something you can change or is that just how it's going to be?
-
Actually, it's calculated like this...
Passing Yards (100 yards per point)
you need to get to a full 100 yards for 1 point :(
So, 209 yards would only get you 2 points.
So, too, would 299 yards = 2 points.
But 300 yards = 3 points.
-
I'm looking at it now...this free Yahoo stuff is not as customizable as some of the other Fantasy Sites (Sportsline, Fanball etc)
-
Right...currently I see its scoring it as this:
Rushing/Receiving
0-49 Yards 0 Points
50-99 Yards 1 points
100-149 Yards 2 points
150-199 Yards 3 Points
200+ 4 points
Passing
Rushing/Receiving
0-99 Yards 0 Points
100-199 Yards 1 points
200-299 Yards 2 points
300-399 Yards 3 Points
400+ 4 points
The only option I have for yardage is
X Yards = 1 point
I put 50 yards for Rushing/Receiving
100 Yards for Passing
-
So QB's aren't really worth that much compared to WRs or RB's in this league then eh? Hell, even a Kicker scores as many points for a FG as a QB scores for a touchdown...
-
No...they should be all around the same...I posted the top ten last year in my league and it was
Average points per game for the top players should be around 10-12 With this point reduction it should be 8-10 probably. I'll keep looking to see, it shouldn't effect really anything except for Goal Line backs that people might start that will get no points for the yards on a 1 yard carry besides the TD
-
The one thing that might be screwy is the Defense and the Kickers who may now get more points than the position players...maybe we'll need to go to a fractional point total for the yardage...let's see what that does
-

I said that same thing about the 4th - 5th round in this thread.

Maybe for the top 10 players this is true, but I bet if you look at the top 50 it's dominated by WRs and RBs.
-
That is because there is 3 more RB's and WR's than QB's
-
This is preposterous! I demand satisfaction! This scoring system is...
Ah, who the hell am I kidding, it's not like I'm going to win this thing anyway. :P
Jeff
-
I just turned on Fractional Scoring
This may be what we have to do, it gives fractional points for yards instead of just reaching milestones for each point
Last Year
Holmes RB 221
Green RB 203
Tomlinson RB 199
Moss WR 155
Culpepper QB 148
Manning QB 141
Alexander RB 140
Lewis RB 123
Holt WR 117
McAllister RB 113
Williams RB 113
Owens WR 100
Bulger QB 99
McNabb QB 98
Johnson WR 97
Taylor RB 96
Harrison WR 94
Fantasy Football is always dominated by Running Backs in scoring, that is why they are always the #1 picks and usually dominate the first round. The list above shows QB's are just as important to a teams success. The reason they aren't drafted high is because they are more of a crap shoot and they tend to all clump together point wise (no big drop off in talent) the same cannot be said for RB where the TD chances start to dwindle as the talent goes down
-
I just turned on Fractional Scoring
There goes the need to worry about Tie-Breakers. ;)
Thanks for the extra 0.88 points, chief!
:-*
-
Right on. I was only curious and trying to make sure I know what's going on - none of what I mentioned above was meant to sound like complaining.
-
So explain to me 2 things:
1) Why have an 18 round draft, and still have 2 empty spots on our roster, if we aren't going to have 3 WRs and a flex/utility position? You don't need nearly that many spots on your roster if you're only going with the # of starters that we have. It's pointless.
2) How would adding a flex/utility position detract from someone's draft strategy and/or help 1 team specifically if every one of us was so focused on getting quality picks and sleepers in the late rounds?
Sorry, but I don't get why we have so few starting spots and why the scoring is so screwy. Why didn't we just go with the default setting?
-
How would adding a flex/utility position detract from someone's draft strategy and/or help 1 team specifically if every one of us was so focused on getting quality picks and sleepers in the late rounds?
Well, I think if we were going with that extra flex position from the start, some people may have held off a round or two in picking up their K or defense (for those that filled out their starting roster before any bench players), while instead picking up another RB or WR to fill that flex spot.
So you could be talking about someone now having to fill in a player they took in the mid to late rounds for the flex spot, instead of using say, a 5th or 6th round pick, where they took a K or DEF instead, and that is probably a pretty big difference in quality of player.
Quite frankly, I would be all for using a flex spot due the fact that I think my bench is pretty deep (I would have used Branch this week had it been implemented) but don't necessarily think it's fair to everyone to make that kind of change after the draft, and actually after the season, has already started.
-
I'm not adding a flex position
-
I'm not adding a flex position
I think we should vote as a league. Every football league I've ever played in, including my other 3 this year have at least a flex spot (2 of my 3 have an extra WR spot as well.) I disagree with the statement of taking a K or a DEF instead of another WR or RB. There are 14 teams in this league and most everyone admitted that's the most they've ever had in a league they participated in. Not taking a K or DEF would have really left them thin. Let's face it, there are more quality RBs and WRs (especially WRs) then there are DEFs or K who can be the difference in a win or loss for a given week.
I say we vote and I vote add the flex for next week. I think everyone who takes a long look at what I'm saying will agree that with as many players as we have on our rosters, it doesn't make sense to not have the flex spot.
-
OK, let's vote then.
I vote that we do what Scott says (no flex spot) because he's the commish (and it doesn't matter to me).
;)
No Flex:
Scott
Jeff
Yes Flex
HoloE
Add your vote as appropriate...
Jeff
-
I'm in favor of a flex player as well.
-
Sure it might have effected some people's drafting order, but we all drafted under the same conditions and adding a player now would still mean the same conditions for everyone.
I vote Yes.
-
I vote nay, rules were presented up front with the scoring. Prolly won't change much, still, I knew what was what up front. For us rookie idiots, changing those rules could hamper our chances.
-

I'm sorry, but someone is going to have to explain to me how having an extra player in your lineup every week to score points and help you defeat your opponent is a bad thing.

I'm never for changing rules after the fact and after games have started, and I don't even think this is an official vote, but just incase it is, I've voting with the commish's "nay." For me in particular, I have like 5 offensive players out one particular bye week and did NOT draft enough good players to cover an extra position being added after my draft strategy was developed and executed using the rules we all agreed to play by at the start of the draft. I, for one, would have definitely drafted another starting running back or wide receiver before taking a defense or kicker to cover an extra starting position. It changes everything. To be very precise here, if we had an extra flex position for WR/RB at the outset of the draft, I would have drafted Chris Chambers instead of Plaxico Burress because Hines Ward, Andre Johnson, and Plaxico Burress will ALL be out the same week, and I could have had Chris Chambers in the "flex" position rather than having to go find a free agent starting offensive player to fill a position that some people just decided they wanted after the season started. And that's just one example, just to show you what we mean.
I'm sticking with commish.
-
So why is this just now, after the season has already started, becoming a topic of discussion? We've known for at least 3 weeks what the rules were, what the roster size was and what a starting lineup was going to consist of, so why bring it up now?
Sure it might have effected some people's drafting order
And there lies the reason as to why I'm not crazy about a major rule change such as this, after the draft. I personally don't have a problem if it were to be added, but it just doesn't seem fair to those who used their first 8 draft spots to fill in their starting roster. Outside of a couple DEFs and Ks, there is no reason to be drafting a DEF or K before filling in that flex position with another top RB or WR and that would put those people at a disadvantage who's drafting strategy was to fill in their starting 8 before drafting bench players.
-
Sure it might have effected some people's drafting order, but we all drafted under the same conditions and adding a player now would still mean the same conditions for everyone.
I vote Yes.
No, that's totally incorrect Zod. Some people drafted starting WR's and RB's who will all be out the same bye week and didn't think it would matter when they checked the season schedule because a "flex" position didn't exist at the outset of the draft and when we executed our draft strategy. Additionally, like Chuckles just said, only an idiot would take a kicker (other than maybe the top 3) before another good starting RB or WR to fill the flex.
I'm all for this rule change, but for NEXT year. I know Scott just said he's not adding a flex position, and I don't think he'd further preside over this now that we're halfway through the "vote" and at least 5 of us have already protested this. But I don't think it's cool at all that a few of you are trying to put others at a disadvantage just because you see that your season schedules and your bye week stuff works out in your favor to sneak an extra good starting player into your lineup every week. That's really bogus. Or maybe you three truly just don't understand. I don't know which it is.
-

Well I don't think it's cool that you're accusing me when you admitted to me via IM that you know nothing about fantasy football and were "picking blind" sometimes during this.
The bottom line, flex or not, is that each person picks the BEST available player when their turn comes. Dressel knows that I was going to pick Chad Johnson early on, but saw Stephen Davis avaiable and grabbed him since there are so many teams and so few RBs. It's amazing to me that we have so many guys opposed to this when it HELPS each team. We've all got like 18-20 guys on our roster. You're telling me you don't have 1 guy within that group that can potentially help you each week?
I'll be honest with you guys, I didn't know til I set my roster we had no flex position. I assumed we did because EVERY league I've ever participated in had one. Why would you NOT have one? Seriously.
How is the bye week situation even an attempted argument when you have 18-20 guys on your roster. Are you kidding me? Try playing in leagues where you have 3-4 extra guys on your bench. Personally, I'm liking this league less and less between the lack of flex and the scoring issues (which nearly everyone has been concerned with or questioned since the start) and as of now, this is the league of my 4 that will get the least attention. That's not a threat, that's just the straight truth. My other leagues will be far more fun to participate in each week because of an extra WR spot and flex spot, better scoring and more talent to chose from.
-
I don't use flex because that is how I've always done it in my league...sorry you didn't know this and sorry the league is so big, I thought about breaking it up into two leagues of 8 teams but wanted to do some community building and thought a FREE fantasy football league that is for fun anyway would have been a fun way for people to spend their fall
Next year we can make some changes but its how it is, if people want to pay some money next year where we can have a custom scoring automated league with two divisions we can do that but I doubt people will want to pony up money for something especially since so many people are in leagues in the real world anyway
-
It's amazing to me that we have so many guys opposed to this when it HELPS each team.
Does it help each team? Yes. Does it help some teams more than others? Definitely. Some of us carefully selected certain players because of bye week considerations. I guess maybe you should have looked at the roster spots and scoring values that OCB posted about 2 months ago sometime before the draft.
And I never said I was "picking blind." What I said was that I never followed NFL in my life and wanted something to bridge baseball and basketball fantasy, so gave this a shot; and I told you that 4 weeks ago last time I had a week on call at the hospital I killed the time at Barnes and Noble studying fantasy mags to learn how to draft a football team correctly. To put a quote down saying I admitted to you I was "picking blind at times" is completely false.

You're right. "Picking blind" should have been replaced by "I have no idea what I'm doing." My bad.
Each time you draft in a league you ALWAYS consider bye weeks, but saying anyone here would consider a bye week over taking the BEST player available is totally ridiculous and proves you have no idea what you're doing.
Look, I'm not trying to start a fight and make more of this than I should, but for anyone to think that adding a flex gives any one team an advantage over another is quite simply ridiculous. The players still have to go out and perform. If anyone thinks that their stud horses are going to put up 20 points each every week than apparently you've never watched sports before. Eventually those of you shooting this down will realize how valuable that extra offensive player spot is when you lose by 2 points one week because one of your horses had an off week. The fact so many of you are so adament about opposing this proves that you're either afraid of competition by adding the flex spot or just don't get it.
Like I said, this will be the league I follow the least. I'm not very impressed with how it's been handled from draft, to scoring to opposing the flex spot. Not one of you opposing this should toss out the phrase "just for fun" if you're gonna say what you're gonna say. If it's "just for fun" add the flex spot and see how much more fun it is. But I guess this league is about who can score the fewest points, not the most in any given week.
-
Well then HoloElvis my final advice is to enjoy your other 3 leagues with your prized flex position, be sure to read which roster positions the league has set for you to fill on draft day, and to play by the rules set at the outset of the draft. Good luck.
-
Fellas,
I think we should drop the flex argument debate.... it seems to be leading down a dark path. Let's just agree to disagree and leave it at that.
:-\
-
Agreed. I'd like to have one, but it's not a big deal - either way you slice it everyone is on a level playing field and having a large bench just gives you that many more agonizing decisions to make when you decide who to start each week.
-

No, everyone is not on a level playing field and that's why we're not changing the rules after the game has already started. But agreed, no more debate on this issue.
Play ball.

If everyone drafted under the same rules, with a strategy based on those rules, and everyone was then subjected to the exact same rule change, the effects would be equal across the board. I don't give a crap about the flex player and I'm totally cool with the final decision, but this insistance that you'd be at some kind of disadvantage if we added one is getting ridiculous. Besides, you're losing without a flex player, maybe adding one would help you out. :P
-
Fellas,
RE: flex player
LET IT GO.
I'd hate to see this thread closed...
-
No, everyone is not on a level playing field and that's why we're not changing the rules after the game has already started.
Are you for real?
Look, the flex position only HELPS your team. It in no way hurts your team. It's an extra player in your starting lineup to SCORE POINTS FOR YOUR TEAM. The argument against adding the flex has been quite simply ridiculous and uneducated. It would definitely help a team like Famine's. I just don't understand why we have so many guys on our team, most of them who won't ever get used during the course of the season, if we aren't going to have an extra starting spot or 2. If no one sees that point then I'm wasting my breath.
-
You know what sucks? The fact that I have teams in three different fantasy leagues, and I have different players on each team (with a few exceptions). So on the one hand, I have Donovan McNabb on one team, so I am rooting for him to have a great day. But at the same time, in another league, he is playing AGAINST my team, so I'd like to see him get shut down... :-\
-
Ditto. Brees even appeared on my week 2 roster.
But KBZ can have him, I'm going to whip his ass week 1 with or without Drew Brees.
4 more years Zod.
I can only hope your political predictions are as dead-on as your fantasy football ones! :D
-
WOOHOO! I ran the board this week with all 4 of my fantasy teams. That's a great start in my book.
-
How'd I do? I'm on a PC thats got windows 95 and can't take much action.
Kevin

After week 1:
1 Nicklabs Nuckleheads = 1-0-0, 59.23 points
2 The Zods = 1-0-0, 53.70 points
3 Canuckleheads = 1-0-0, 50.39 points
4 DUSTRHO Destruction = 1-0-0, 44.46 points
5 Nataku Dragons = 1-0-0, 35.13 points
6 purple cobras = 1-0-0, 31.51 points
7 Tatooine Express = 1-0-0, 31.12 points
8 Nerfherders = 0-1-0, 43.79 points
9 Dressel's Rebellion = 0-1-0, 43.28 points
10 Defending Champs = 0-1-0, 31.98 points
11 The Famine = 0-1-0, 31.05 points
12 Old Cocky Bastards = 0-1-0, 30.22 points
13 ThatOneTeam = 0-1-0, 26.48 points
14 Springfield Isotopes = 0-1-1, 22.32 points
-
After week 1:
14 Springfield Isotopes = 0-1-0, 22.32 points
Yeah, take that! ;) It's nice and comfy down here in the cellar. Oh well, maybe I'll score a touchdown next week. ;D
-
If it weren't for the sweet stylings of Culpepper I'd be below you Matt :-X And I was still a Bubba Franks TD away from beating Jeff so he shpoudln't crow too much :P
-
Damn, not only did I lose, but I lost one of my starting WRs to a broken leg. :'( Looks like it's going to be one of those years.
-
Yeah, I lost a receiver right away too (C. Rogers), and he couldn't even manage to get a catch or something before he broke that collarbone :P It is sad when you see a player lose extended time (or entire seasons) in back to back years like that though. I staged a heck of a comeback in my head to head matchup with dustrho (thanks to Ahman Green), but ultimately came up 0.67 points short...blimey! ;)
-
Yeah, I lost Steve Smith in one of my other leagues. A broken fibula. Hope he makes a good recovery. As for Charles Rogers, didn't he break his collarbone last year, too?
-
Yep, he broke the same bone, and almost in the exact same place as last year. Yet another year lost for Mr. Rogers.
-
Well, that means more playing time for Roy Williams, Az Hakim and Tai Streets, I guess.
-
Damn, not only did I lose, but I lost one of my starting WRs to a broken leg. :'( Looks like it's going to be one of those years.
I do feel bad for you. To be honest, I didn't watch the game and then someone today mentioned a wide receiver that had broken his leg last night :o No offence, but I was hoping it was your guy.
Still, my first ever week of fantasy football, sitting in third after defeating the defending champ. I'll wait to start really chirping, lest my luck change.
What quarterback to start though? :-\
-
So is anyone interested in buying the stat-tracker?
-
So is anyone interested in buying the stat-tracker?
I did buy it for JD Fantasy Baseball on Yahoo, it's pretty cool, up to the second rankings and standings, and player points are posted the second they happen in the games. I probably won't buy it for football cuz it's not my passion and I don't know what the hell I'm doing yet.
-
How much does it cost?
-
If I read it right it's $9.95
I'm assuming then that the entire league gets it and it's good for the whole season.
-
If I read it right it's $9.95

It's $9.95 per person dude.
-
Looks like you're right.
-
I'd chip in for that, couple of bucks.
Picked up Quincy Morgan, WR Cleveland.
-
Looks like it boils down to personal preference since it's not a group price.
-
Ah, I see. Thanks for pointing that out. I guess that would be remarkably cheap for the group, wouldn't it.
-
I know I'm not going to purchase it. If I want to see up to minute stats, I just go to espn.com and click on live scores and from there you can check the box scores for each game which are pretty much up to date during the game. From that I can get a feel for how my team and my opponents team is doing over the course of the day.
-
Personally upto the second stats to me are not that important- You can't make changes anyway so the chips will fall the same way at the end anyway. Sometimes its nice to see but its all personal prefrance.
-
Ouch, to whoever has Stephen Davis as one of their RBs. I just read he tore knee cartilage in practice yesterday and will be out 2-5 weeks.
-
Lucky for whoever has Deshaun Foster.
-
Lucky for whoever has Deshaun Foster.
;D
Though I don't think I'll play him this week. I like my other matchups at RB a little better.
-
****.
-
Damn, I'm getting my ass handed to me by the Tatooine Express.
-
Thats right Chris is justification for the Bears beating my beloved Packers
-
At least the Pack got crushed though so your weekend is not all lost Chris :P
-
Looks like Wayne beat me too that one :-*
-
Looks like injuries once again are taking their toll on big name players. I lost 2 more starters from yesterdays games, McAllister and Branch, though both don't look to be serious. But the big injury from yesterday is Kellen Winslow. Broken leg. Possible done for the year.
-
I have McAllister in my other league, he killed me, just killed me...especially with Barlow sitting on my Bench :'(
-
I know that feeling. I had McAllister getting me nothing while DeShawn Foster was sitting on my bench. ::)
-
I have McAllister in my other league as well. I also have Shaun Alexander, who I decided to bench since I heard he wasn't playing. Well, he did. Didn't exactly have a huge game, but could have done better than the Duece. Hopefully Westbrook can come through tonight and have a decent game, he's my third RB in that league. Seems like a lot of fairly high profile injuries thus far this year.....Stephen Davis, Charles Rogers, Duece McAllister, Kellen Winslow, Tommy Maddox, etc.
-
Nothing is bad until a High Profile RB goes down for the year, its been a while too (Edgerrin in 2001?) so there should be one coming. I can still remember watching my seasons go down the drain with Terrell Davis and Edgerrin James clutching their knees
-
Well then, I guess I've been lucky as I've been barely avoided disaster for 2 weeks straight. Last week its Chris Brown with a sprained ankle, and this week Duece has the same thing happen. How close was I to losing not 1 but 2 of my starting RBs for long periods of time. Bad enough I've already lost a WR. >:(
-
In a solid effort to jinx myself entirely, I'm not terribly afraid of an injury to a single player. I've got some pretty nice backups at all positions, except maybe TE.
That said, I would hate to lose Curtis Martin right now :o
-

Yet unless Terrel Owens can come up with 3 more TD's and a bunch of yardage tonight, you're still going to beat me. :(
And to think my other kicker scored like 11 points... but the one I started got me 2.
Neither of my RB's or my reciever who's already gone have scored a single TD - although Keyshawn's lame ass got tackled TWICE at the one yard line. >:(
-
That's exactly why I haven't said anything about how it looks like I'll get my first win this week. All TO needs is 3 TDs, he doesn't even need any yds, and you'll beat me. And against the Vikes D, that certainly is possible.
Neither of my RB's or my reciever who's already gone have scored a single TD
Experienced that last week when neither of my RBs or my WRs scored me a TD. Sucks doesn't it? >:(
-

I hadn't noticed that. :P
-
Now is when the league will get interesting. Starting with week 3, teams now have Bye weeks - so some of our second string bench players will be getting the start... God help us all ;D
-

Yeah, that was pretty funny, I was watching that game with some friends who happen to be Cowboy fans, and one of them is in a fantasy league at his job and has K.J. on his team, and he just kept screaming every time he got tackled at the one. ;D

Yeah I think he needs 3 TDs and about 15 yards or so (which unless you're Jerome Bettis, if you score three times you'll get).
The worst part is that my 2 RB's (Davis and Henry) put up 250 yards between the both of them - and no scores...
-
Such is life in Fantasy Football...you rarely put out your best team and there is some luck involved with injuries
-
I hope the Vikings win tonight, but wouldn't mind terribly if they benched Moss for a game (Nicklab).
Think it's safe to say that my matchup with Famine is a reasonable precursor to our meeting at Celebration. :-*
-
:)
What a strange world Fantasy Football is...
The starters for my two FF teams were basically identical (seven common players between the two teams), yet it looks like I am going to WIN in one league and lose the other. Not only that, but I'll probably end up 0-2 in one league and 2-0 in the other so far despite having basically the same team! :-\

What, you want OCB to beat me?
-
I guess so...I need Culpepper to throw TD's not to Moss and the Vikes D to bail me out...
Sounds like McAllister is out 5-6 weeks...son of a bitch!
-
I've split the topic too...the original thread can be found here (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=4729.0)

So what, you're hoping tonight will be Marcus Robinson's breakout game, and that Culpepper's gonna run the ball like crazy?
-
Meanwhile I don't care who wins as long as Owens finds the endzone 3 times.
-
As long as Moss gets his catches for TD's, I'm all for it. If Culpepper gets benched, oh well! ;D
-

Heh, I don't care who wins your matchup. I'm looking at the total points and I need to beat you by about 10 to takeover first overall.
Right now I'm sitting pretty nice, but it would be damn foolish to start shooting my mouth off when I have a kicker and you have Moss. I'm predicting a Vikings win with Onterrio Smith getting four touchdown runs, Moss sprains his pinky and throws a girlie hissy fit. Final score is Vikings 28 Eagles 21, all field goals :D ::)
-

Seriously? Son of a bitch. >:( That pretty much sucks for next week. No Duece, and Foster has a bye week. Gonna be a rough go at it next Sunday. :-\
-
Deuce McAllister, RB NO
News: According to the Times Picayune, Deuce McAllister suffered what is being called a "high ankle sprain" in the first quarter against the 49ers in Week 2 and could potentially be lost for up to five weeks.
-

And here I was thinking "Maybe I'll go to Best Buy at midnight to get the OT on DVD", but NOW I have to watch the game. As for points standings, I've got you by 5.2 right now. We just gotta let the boys play the game tonight.
-
And now...Edge has pulled a Hammy! Damn :-X
-
And Julies Jones fractured his shoulder. Out 2 months. Another one of my RBs!!! >:( :'( Enough with the damn injuries.
-
Here's was my other team's opening day roster
Hasselbeck
E James
McAllister
C Rogers
Chad Johnson
Gonzalez
Vanderjagt
New England
I have Barlow who's also dinged and Onterrio Smith who could be gone anyday for passing the joint with Ricky Williams...tough year for the OCB
-
I thought they were going to suspend Smith for the first four games? What happened with that? Damn it, he's my bye week guy >:(
-
That got pushed back to when the NFL hears his Appeal which could be any time between now and then end of the season
-
Todd Heap, out 2-4 weeks. Another top tier TE out.
-
At least the Pack got crushed though so your weekend is not all lost Chris :P
Thank the maker!
-
Todd Heap, out 2-4 weeks. Another top tier TE out.
DAMN! And Daniel Graham has a BYE next week. Looks like I'll be playing Dan Campbell next week.
-
That got pushed back to when the NFL hears his Appeal which could be any time between now and then end of the season
Thanks for the info. Later is better for me. Actually, as long he doesn't start his suspension next game, I'll be ok. Curtis Martin has a bye next week. The next RB bye for me is week 10, so somewhere between there or after week 10 works for me.
-
All these injuries are crazy - I'm used to playing in smaller leagues where if one guy goes down, you either turn to someone on your bench or there are still guys to pick up off waivers. It's pretty slim pickins at RB right now....
-
It's pretty slim pickins at RB right now....
Slim pickins? But that would imply that there are actually a few players to pick from.... or should I say a few players that might net at least a point per game.
-
Well we put the game on T.O's shoulders and all he could muster was one lousy TD.
Of course, had Keyshawn not been tackled at the 1 yard line twice - that would have been enough...
Or if I'd have just put in my other kicker I'd have been within 2 points...
Blah.
-
Lame ass late TD to Moss sunk my Battleship...0-2 and not looking pretty :-X
-
Well we put the game on T.O's shoulders and all he could muster was one lousy TD.
He's lucky he even got that one. Had the Vikings challenged the play, it more than likely would have been overturned, as replay showed Owens still juggling the ball as he rolled out of bounds.
Not that it mattered. I'm on the board now with a fantasy win and I had picked the Eagles to win in our Pigskin Pickem pool. Too bad both teams couldn't score more points. It cost me the tie breaker in our work pool. >:(
-
Just wanted to thank Mr. Akers for the kick to the top last night ;D
Canuckleheads - Rank 1 of 14 :-* Gotcha Nick.
(Hey, I gotta do this while I can)
-
Just when I started getting worried that one of my starting RB's (Domanick Davis) only had 37 yards or so of total offense...
My Kicker makes 5 Field Goals (2 from over 50 yards) and 2 extra points...
Then Peyton Manning throws for 5 TD's and almost 400 yards with half a quarter left to play.
And Terrel Owens had a TD and over 100 yards too...
I've still got my Defense, RB, TE and second WR yet to play and I'm pretty sure I've already got over 50 points.
Too bad I'm playing Famine this week... :P
(no offense Kevin ;) )
Whoo hoo.
-
Hey, Big Blue won todays game. Maybe it's a start of somthing good.
Damnit. >:(
Kevin
What are the standings btw? My PC is being ANAL in anything towards yahoo.
-
The stats haven't posted yet. They delay them as much as they can so that people will break down and buy the stat tracker.
We'll know later on tonight - but nothing will be settled for the week 'officially' until after MNF.
-
Lame ass late TD to Moss sunk my Battleship...0-2 and not looking pretty :-X
It's not looking too good for you over in the JD Fantasy Baseball League either. My lead is 300+ points with 1 week to go. But I'm a charitable guy....I'll send Brad Radke over to your squad for Gary Sheffield, Barry Bonds, and Vladimir Guerrero for the final week of the season. Shall I get the paperwork ready?
-
This is odd. The StatTracker thing at Yahoo.com was suppose to only be a free trial until Sept 13th. Yet I'm able to pull it up and view the up to the minute fantasy scoring. Here are the scores thru the 1st quarter of the 2 Sunday night games:
Defending Champs - 49.97 ;D
Springfield Isotopes - 49.90
OCB - 38.32
Purple Cobras - 59.27
Nataku Dragons - 24.59
Nicklabs Nuckleheads - 55.36
Canuckleheads - 46.71
ThatOneTeam - 18.86
The Zods - 51.48
Tha Famine - 31.78
Dustrho Destruction - 30.98
Dressels Rebellion - 43.11
Tatooine Express - 20.40
Nerfherders - 33.54
-
And here I am...losing. What a suprise. :P

Can't pull it up here, so thanks.
Looks like I lost McNair, at least for a little bit. Owing a lot to Javon Walker this week. Going to drop resoundingly out of first though, but it's looking like I'll go 3-0. Next week, another stinkin' Minnesotan.
-
Defending Champs - 49.97 ;D
Springfield Isotopes - 49.90
Dammit! Of course, thinking the Colts were going to split the carries more between Rhodes and James, I started both of them instead of Wheatley, who has done crap this year until the first quarter of tonight's game.
Oh well, that's the way it goes, I suppose.
-
You might have lost more than McNair. Your other QB, Gannon got hurt in the first quarter of the game tonight. A helmet to helmet hit and they took him in to take X-rays of his back. He was able to walk off under his own power but who knows how severe it is. You might have lost BOTH your QBs this week. :-X

Yep, that might have cost you the game. But, I still have the Oakland DEF going tonight for me, so I'll likely pick up a few more points along the way.

Oh sure, mr. sunshine has to make it rain too ::) However, being the eternal optimist and a happy idiot all rolled into one, I'll camly point out that despite my optimism at having Gannon, he is only my third string QB. My second string QB beat the first guy injured today and had a better game. Leftwich finished the game healthy, so I'm not screwed. Yet.
-
Ah, that's right. I forgot about you having Leftwich. You got lucky. This time. ;)
-
Meh, just added Volek as well. Just in case. And while McNair is co-MVP and everyone keeps telling me that he'll step up, thus far he's been <200 yds in the air and a single TD per game. That's fine, but not terribly hard to match. Quite similar to what Leftwich has done and presumably Volek should do similarly well.
-
I think I might take back my lead today, Brent! ;)
-
I think I might take back my lead today, Brent! ;)
I think you already have. I'll get ya next week. I hope. :-*
-
And I'm pretty sure I just lost Garner for a long time.
But I've got Pittman and he comes back from suspension next week...
-
I too got my ass whooped, 0-3 in 2 of my leagues :'(
-
The scores are in:
The Zods - 53.93
The Famine - 40.68

-
In 3 leagues I'm a collective 2-7 :'( I can't remember a worse start for good ole Oand3CB
-
Holy crap can Nick's team score points! :(
Eh, well, I was pretty sure I wasn't gonna go undefeated... especially with Vick playing like he did on Sunday. NO TDs against ARIZONA?!? WTF? >:(
Jeff
-
I managed to score 53 points while only getting one TD total from my recievers and running backs. Gotta love a kicker who scores 22 points in one week. :D
-
Holy crap can Nick's team score points! :(
It's just been dumb luck. BTW, look at Quentin Griffin. He hasn't done SQUAT for me since week 1. I'm depending so much on my WR's for points, that I'm probably gonna get shut down at some point. This week could be bad for me since the Vikings have a bye week.
-
Dumb luck here too. My QB has been underperforming, gets hurt and my star running back (NOT Tomlinson) had a bye week, yet I still get 46 points. Good kicker, lousy D (but three sacks and an interception). Javon Walker decided to catch the ball in the right place is about the best explanation.
Next week will be interesting. OCB is mine, baby. (I hope)
-
OCB is mine, baby. (I hope)
I saw him first.
-
I beat him already. I can't wait for week 6 so we can duke it out, Brent!
-
Is the Yahoo stat tracking system pretty good? I'm not sure that was clear as for what I'm asking about - but I've got Michael Pittman as a RB and he was suspended - but is back now, joined the team Monday morning and will play this weekend - but he's still listed as N/A on my page... I need him badly now that Garner went out for the year with a knee injury...
Should I be worried about this or is it a common thing for that designation to go away later on?
-
Those notations next to the player names can be misleading. Best thing to do is click on the player's name and then look at the News & Notes. That way you get the details about whether or not a player is active, injured, etc.
Overall the best thing to do is check a variety of sources, like ESPN.com (http://www.espn.com), NFL.com (http://www.nfl.com) or the team's official page.
-
Right on. I know for a fact that he'll be playing on Sunday and isn't injured or suspended. I was just worried that maybe Yahoo wouldn't recognize him if the n/a is appearing by his name.
We'll find out soon enough I guess...
-
Dear mr. administrator.
Please tell me why our football pool will not:
a) let me view the league results, even after signing in
and
b) allow me to change the players. Well, it lets me change them, but even after submitting them multiple times they are not changed when I re-enter the site.
Trying to start the following, but it will only allow last week's lineup :o
QB - Leftwich (may go with Volek/McNair, depending on who's starting)
WR - Walker
WR - Stallworth
RB - Tomlinson
RB - Martin
TE - Crumpler
K - Akers
D - KC
Help. :-\
-
Looks like that is what your line-up is...might be some server issues at Yahoo
-
Groovy thanks. Thought I'd point it out quick enough, mostly because I'm likely to forget to make my picks later in the week. I'd have checked at home later too.
Have to try and stay close to Nick :P
-
Grrr, make a damn decision, Volek or McNair? :-\
I opted out of Leftwich because I think they'll get hammered by the Colts. I thought Tenn had a much better shot against SD, but who's starting?????
-
Anyone with a working stat-tracker want to post current scores???
-
Anyone with a working stat-tracker want to post current scores???
Exactly what I was thinking. Jim, you still have access?
Oh, and have I said thank goodness for kickers?
-
Yep, still have access, though no clue as to why. But here are the scores as of the Rams just scoring to make it 14-0 in tonights game.
OCB - 29.50
Canuckleheads - 52.49
Nataku Dragon - 42.69
Purple Cobras - 17.6
Nicklab - 27.60
Nerfherders - 32.03
The Zods - 24.09
ThatOneTeam - 18.42
Springfield Isotopes - 20.40
The Famine - 34.39
Tatooine Express - 11.60
Dressels Rebellion - 41.16
Dustrho Destruction - 36.57
Defending Champs - 20.63 >:( Stupid lack of TDs from my entire team. Not good when my K accounts for 60% of my points. ::)
-
Wow...some less than inspiring point totals this week...
I can't believe I'm still in the lead with just over 24 points... Although all HoloElvis needs to win is for Issac Bruce to score a TD... with a little over a quarter left to play... Hopefully since they're already 24-0 they won't be throwing too much...
I'd have already lost if it weren't for the fact that he's got no QB playing this week...
-
My team is the suckiest sucks who have ever sucked :-X
-
My team is the suckiest sucks who have ever sucked :-X
Well I appreciate them ;D Got llucky guessing Volek would start though.
Yo Nick, looking like week 6 is going to be important.
Minnesota: 2 down, 1 to go.
-
My receivers had a whopping 10 yards combined this week. Good choices there :). Oh, and I left Lee Suggs on the bench, good call. :)
-
C'mon, where's the chatter :-\ Jeez people, I was expecting a little more than this. Y'all are pretty quiet. I think it might be a bit annoying if I initiated it, what with being undefeated and in first place. And a Canadian to boot :o Man, good thing this isn't a hockey pool, or that might have been expected :P
-
I'm just at a loss for words after another less than steller performance from my team. 2 out of the 4 weeks now I've gotten zero TDs from both RBs and both WRs. Can't win if these bastages can't score. >:(
-
I'm in the same boat Jim, were it not for Culpepper I'd be 0-4, oh wait, I am 0-4 :'(
-
Well, this week, one of my RB had more TD passes than my QB, so my team is so outta whack, it's not right to brag...
Jeff
-
Hmm, three replies from the great state of Minnesota. *Who here haven't I beat and when are you due :-*
* duly noting I am being obnoxious (more so than usual)

And I've got every intention of sending you straight to 0-5. Sorry. :(

I sat my team down for a heart to heart this week, hopefully they'll turn 'er around
BTW jeff...Bennett out at least 2 more weeks ::)
-
I sat my team down for a heart to heart this week, hopefully they'll turn 'er around
I've threatened my team with relocation if they don't start scoring some TDs. Maybe a new team name with new team colors. That always works.
-

* duly noting I am being obnoxious (more so than usual)
Awfully cocky lately... ::)
I'm sensing a role reversal between the Grumpy one and the Cocky one.
Did you see the hurting I put on Dave this week? Unless Jamal "Coke-Head" Lewis runs for 4 TDs and 200yds, I'm headed to a showdown with Winnie-the-Peg with a 3-1 record (my only loss to Nick).
Careful or I'll have Emmitt throw another TD pass next week too...
-
I sat my team down for a heart to heart this week, hopefully they'll turn 'er around
BTW jeff...Bennett out at least 2 more weeks ::)
I was only half-listening, but I think my radio just said he was going to have surgery.
-
Yeah, partially torn meniscus, out two more weeks at least. Samuel L. Jackson in Unbreakable was better off then Michael Bennett ::)
-
Anyone wanna outright buy Onterrio Smith? ;D
:-*
-
I'll send ya a dollar, Bug.
Hey everyone, watch me lose!
Kevin
-
Anyone wanna outright buy Onterrio Smith? ;D
:-*
Why would anyone want to buy a guy who is about to miss 4 games thanks to his love of MaryJane?
Now that Moe is back, he should get all the goal-line business again...
Jeff
-
Speaking of goal-line bruisers...
Jerome Bettis has scored 5 TD's already this year - now that he's the Steeler's redzone guy, I'm going to be starting him in place of either Travis Henry, Domanick Davis, or Michael Pittman from here on out (unless his production drops to none...)
Anyone interested in Travis Henry? The other two? I'm entertaining offers. I'm specifically looking for WR's and TE's.
-
Heard it this AM, but it's official now...
Smith go bye-bye for 4 games (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1895540)
Moe Williams looks even beter this week against you 'Bug... ;)
Houston is giving up 135 Rush YPG as welll as a TD or 2. :)

OK, I'll bite. You interested in a Ron Gardner for Domanick Davis deal?
-
Davis is the one I want to deal the least... Henry probably the most. My initial thought is to pass on that one for now and see if there are any other offers first.
-
No problem. Just thought I'd throw it out there and see.
Not interested in Henry, but if you change your mind about Davis, let me know.

Excellent news. Since Smith is my #3 back, this timing is perfect. Barring an injury to my other guys, I only need Onterrio for week 10, by which time I'm fairly certain Bennett will have hurt something else :-* You might have heard of my other RBs: Tomlinson and some goofball named Curtis Martin :P
S'ok, I don't discriminate against my players for poor life choices ;) I'll just keep playing the guys I'm playing, that seems to work ok.
-
Boy am I glad Scott didn't start Martin Grammatica...who's scored 10 points and counting.
-

A 3 point lead while OCB has so many guys yet to play? :-X Looks like he might get his first win yet... :-[ Sucks to need a big game out of Travis Henry...
Special thanks to Antonio Bryant for not showing up until less than 2 minutes left in the game.

-
Yeah...
So far Barlow and Taylor haven't done jack - but neither has Henry or Hape...
I'll only conceed defeat while mentioning that you're lucky you caught me on T.O's by week.
-
Holyshit! I'm actually winning over DUSTHRO!

I ain't done yet whippersnapper. QB/WR/D all playing tomorrow night :-*

Whew, win #1 under my belt, maybe my team listened to my little talk I gave them :P
-
3 Insult to Injury TD's tonight too! The OCB is back baby! Watch out JD Fantasy Football League :P
-
I came so close to pulling out my game lastnight. Down by 19 pts, Chris Brown was able to give me a quick 13+ pts just in the first 5 minutes of the game. Too bad he was unable to score again and I ended up losing by 3 1/2 pts. What a heartbreaker. :'(
-
It's ok Morgbug. If you lose, I'll hold my tounge and not make fun of you for a whole day.
Kevin
Hey junior, guess you and the rest will have to hold your tongues for other reasons: undefeated
Of more particular interest:
Canada 3 Minnesota 0 :-*
Not a stellar week for me, but finally a challenge coming up this week ;) Here we go Nick, pity I'll be away on the weekend and can't check in. :-\
-
Blah.
Hey, how do playoffs work here?

Top 8 (based on record) teams meet in a tournament in weeks 14,15 and 16

Thank you sir.

Yeah yeah. If I knew how to play this better, you might not have been. You just remeber that! >:(
Kevin

I promise, I'll remeber :P

Looks like we're gonna be duking it out for first place this week Brent!

Famine, you dumbass! Take your mind off the stripper gag for a minute and concentrate...
You forgot to set your fantasy football lineup and the Giants are on a bye week! You started a total of 2 players.
The lucky recipient: Tatooine Express.

Wish I could but I stopped being able to get it after week 4. :( Guess that was the end of their trial period.

Anyone with a stat tracker want to post current scores???
Okay, gimme 2 minutes

Boy, I sure am glad I checked the injury report with Corey Dillon listed as "Questionable" and benched him, only to have him rush for 2 TD's. End result? Chuckles beats me. So much for 3rd place, it was nice for the week I had it. Anyhow, nobody cares, so here's the scores:
Dressel's Rebellion 19.33 *Tricked into benching Corey Dillon.
Defending Champs 22.04
Old Cocky Bastards 13.62
Springfield Isotopes 47.90
Nataku Dragons 32.40
The Zods 16.60
Nicklabs Nuckleheads 29.39
Canuckleheads 50.24
purple cobras 15.08
Nerfherders 30.59
DUSTRHO Destruction 10.85

Tatooine Express 50.41
Famine 3.44

I caved. I paid.

I still probably would have beat you Dressel. That score doesn't include my Saints D, who so far have given me 5 pts, Duece McAllister, who has given me another 7+, and I still have Torry Holt going tomorrow.

Yup, would have been a squeaker. That's the way the cookie crumbles.
-
Meanwhile, after starting out 3-1, I'm getting my ass kicked for the second straight week.
-
3.44 points.
I ******* suck. :-[
Kevin
-
Well, neither of my RBs (Ahman Green and Lee Suggs) managed to have a huge rushing day, but they decided to throw and catch a touchdown respectively instead. Otherwise, my RBs have been kind of a disappointment so far this year. In my other league, my RB lineup is a bit stronger (S. Alexander, D. McAllister, R. Droughns, B. Westbrook). Anyways, very surprised to see I was leading (so far), figured I'd be getting trounced again this week :).
On the non-fantasy side of things, I was really happy to see Reuben Droughns have another great game yesterday. Always been a Broncos fan, and enjoy the running backs they've had over the years. Sounds like they have another great one here, and from what I hear he's a nice guy too. I always like to hear about professional athletes that are still "friendly". Plus, they won again :). Also, watching the Minny game last night, Daunte Culpepper really seem to be turning into something special. The guy can chuck that ball.
-
I picked up Droughns in my other league since Edge was on a bye this week and was more than happy with the results. I watched a little bit of the Broncos Raiders game and it was awesome watching him run over Raiders. Sort of in the old Christian Okeye/Bo Jackson/The Bus mold.
Looks like I made a valiant comeback effort but fell short...again. My backs and receivers are crap
-
Meanwhile, after starting out 3-1, I'm getting my ass kicked for the second straight week.
I take it back... I'm down less than 12.5 points and I have my QB, TE, and DEF playing tonight.
I'm still alive!
-
My team looked great on paper, which I reminded Dressel didn't amount to anything because they had to perform on the field, and boy was I right. I may pick up my FIRST win this week, which is down right pathetic. I barely even follow this squad anymore, for reasons some of you already know. I'm far more focused on my other 3 teams which currently sit 6-0, 5-1 and 2-4 respectively (and my 2-4 team is the highest scoring team in that particular league, go figure that one out.)
-
The bad news....the Bucs lost again.
The good news, I think between the Defense, Griese's pretty good night, and Dilger's couple of catches, they scored me enough points to eek out a win. I think.
-

Great come from behind victory by your squad.
Well, I'm back to .500 (and the worst .500 team to boot), but at least I've got 3 wins....
So, I got that goin' for me, which is nice.
Jeff
-
Word. I'd have rather the Bucs won and I lost though...
Next week will be tough for me, but it will help if Moss is sitting out...
-
Yeah its a lot better than my collective group of stiffs....hey Kevan Barlow...I hate you

Sure is quiet in here. Damaged American pride? :-*
;D
-
Yeah its a damn dirty shame we're letting a Canucklehead take this so far >:(

that's it???? One response? I, a lowly Canadian, surrounded by 3 down football is hosing your collective asses and this is all I can muster out of you clowns?
Lame. Very lame. Just like your teams :-*

We're just waiting for you to finally lose. Then all hell will break loose. :-*

We're just waiting for you to finally lose. Then all hell will break loose. :-*
Mark your calendars. Week 9. Zods vs. Canuckleheads.
S. McNair (Ten - QB) Bye
J. Walker (GB - WR) Bye
J. Smith (Jac - WR) Bye
A. Crumpler (Atl - TE) Bye
B. Leftwich (Jac - QB) Bye
B. Volek (Ten - QB) Bye
Green Bay (GB - DEF) Bye
J. Scobee (Jac - K) Bye
Sure some of those dont' really matter like the K and DEF - but he'll have limited options come that game. Oh, and the only QB he has left on his roster is Rich Gannon - who is almost definitely done for the year, and probably done for his career.
My only guys who will be out are Donald Driver, who I rarely start anyway, and the Jacksonville DEF - which I haven't used yet.
-
Very lame. Just like your teams :-*
Lame. Just like your leg will be after C3 at the Flagpole. >:(
I might not be able to beat you at fantasy football...
Kevin
-
AJ Feely! Ha!
-
Oh, Kevin. Really now, look at it from a logical American standpoint. If I beat you, a young, big, FAMOUS guy up, it's a complete shock, after all, you keep telling me I'm old and weak. No one will believe it. If you beat me up, I sue you for assault based on size and age. :-*
Thanks Zod for pointing out that gap I had.
Stallworth is fine as a replacement, IMO. My WR's haven't usually been my strength and I'm hoping McCardell signs by then. He's got to be getting hungry. If not, there's always a chance that a trade to Dallas will revitalize my other WR.
I added Feely to my roster, he may or may not play, but at least it doesn't say bye beside his name. Gannon was my week 9 cover player, but for obvious reasons that's disappointing.
Crumpler I am not disappointed by at all, but I do have a backup TE and an average of two points is no great loss, as you indicated.
Thank God the Packers have a bye week ::) I just dumped them. I had three defences for a while, but opted to play the Pack the week KC had the bye, should have played San Diego.
Scobee is my number two kicker and already did his duty replacing Akers, so he can ride the bench for as long as necessary. And Akers has been very, very strong for me, putting up big numbers.
I'll admit it doesn't look pretty, but I thought Nick had me this week with three spots playing Monday night. I tuned in long enough to see one of his RB's score and figured I was done. Alas, for you sad sacks it was not to be.
Still going for an undefeated season. :)
-
McCardell was traded to the Chargers yesterday. He should be playing by then.

Thanks, I missed that. Jeez, my guys are bouncing a bit. Morgan went to the Cowboys apparently being reunited with one of his college teammates so hopefully that will help him. He's been below average, but not awful, at least with respect to my WR's. Walker had one great game, but aside from that I'm fortunate to see a TD a game out of my guys.
I'll tell you this much though. I had no plans on relying on San Diego quite so much as a team (LT, McCardell, Def) prior to the start of the season :o
I can always hope some of your guys get hurt this week Zod.

I know how it is... I picked up Antonio Bryant and now he's off to the Browns - he had a great start of the season, lots of yards but no TD's - then disappeared and now he's traded... Oh well. Meanwhile Keyshawn has finally started scoring some TD's - but then Driver has a 2 TD game and I didn't start him...
Your big strength is definitely those two RB's - by far the best starting RB core of any team in this FF league. Nice work there.
-
My running backs are my Achilles heel right now. Davis got hurt, so he has a total of about 3 points. Portis can't score (or hold onto the football for that matter) and my bench RBs are just flat out useless.
-
Yeah. My RB situation is an odd one too.
Charlie Garner went on IR after just a few games...
Domanick Davis has been a disappointment considering what was expected out of him... He's had a nagging foot injury and has lost time to Wells who's been doing good.
Travis Henry has been a complete bust so far.
Michael Pittman was meant as insurance but has been doing better than either of those two as of late...
Lo and Behold, Jerome Bettis, who I grabbed in like the 15th round or so has become the leading rushing TD scorer in the league but I only realized that he should be playing two weeks ago.
-
Thanks. I felt quite fortunate when Chris selected McNabb with #2. Then I gambled with Martin and it has paid off quite handsomely. I read a number of reports that he had worked very hard in the off season and that his attitude was better than it had ever been going into the season. I was also quite pleased he lasted until so late in the draft, most fortunate. I had my eye on him right after the fourth round and had to wait about 22 picks to get him, sweating the whole time :o
He's worked well and really, no big disappointments for me. Believe me, I'm as surprised as everyone else. Having been in enough hockey pools I know it's how they play in addition to who you have. I've had great hockey pools and lost and had horrible pools and finished third only losing because of when we could switch guys in and out. Last year had I switched Khabibulin out for Salo in January (Salo was on fire for that month only) I would have one. Oh well, it's the way it goes.
Still, how can you not be cocky when your next opponent is a purple helmet or some such thing :P
The guys I had in the hockey pool last year were:
Demitra - big disappointment
Lecavalier - disappointing regular season
Gonchar - ok, but underproduced
Stillman - fantastic season, still can't believe they traded him
Spezza - good guess, but a gamble in the fifth round
Bondra - died when he got traded to Ottawa, too many scorers there
Horcoff - who?
Brunette - who? (unless you live in Minnesota)
Handzus - great late pick
Zetterberg - thanks for breaking your leg
LeClerc - yup, the knee injury was THAT bad
Holmstrom - underproduced on Detroit, how do you do that?
Boguniecki - sophomore jinx in a big way, plus an injury - oops
Khabibulin and Salo were my goalies, both ok, but not great
So a bunch of average guys and I damn near won the thing.
-
So much for Minnesota not having a defense >:( I'm pleased they won, but I shoulda played Leftwich this week. 3 points? Yuck. ::)
-
My team is off to a horrible start today. So far I've both WRs, one RB and my kicker already finished and it can't be a good sign when my kicker is the top scorer of my team with 4 pts. :(

Whew, that's a relief. Not such a hot week for me, definitely started the wrong QB this week. Dave have anyone for tomorrow night? A fair piece nervous today I was/am. :-\
-
5-2 Whoo hoo!
-
Chad Johnson just caught a 50 yd TD pass. And with that, the mighty Canuckleheads have fallen. ;D
Sorry bud, but you knew it was coming. :-*
-
Damn. Yeah, I looked and saw Dave had a WR playing tonight and a WR with a sportspick at that. McNair was knocked out yesterday on the first play of the second quarter, so his tremendous output of 0.2 points wasn't really helpful.
Still, looking at Nick's point total (unless he has someone playing tonight), I should still be in first, just not undefeated anymore. So I can still be a prick for another week ;D
-
Sweet. A win against the Purple Cobras this week and my matchup with said Canuckleheads could be a battle for first place!
-

Although after this week, I'm more optimistic. I essentially played without a QB and still put up 45 points with off weeks for my running backs.
Still looking for a QB to get injured in the next week or two so I could have one to actually play that week though. Curse you Rich Gannon, curse you.
-
You know, I find it kinda ridiculous that I might actually win this week... my team is pathetic.

I didn't have 1 to start (both had bye weeks) and no one on waivers would have played either. This team is pointless to keep up on because I'm already out of the running. I had a great lineup but they didn't score enough. Now you know why I was pushing for more starting positions.

Dude, your team is 3-4. His is 1-6. It's amazing actually - your 1 team strategy has actually ended up being nowhere near as bad as I assumed it would be - since, to most people's suprise, the Giants are actually playing decent football this year.

Having one of the Indy receivers on my team, I would normally love a game like that from Manning. But since Stockley finished with a mere 35 yds and 0 Tds, then it kind of blows. >:(

Not so fast. My TE is still playing tonight. All I need is a TD from him to win. Though I'm not crazy about my chances. :(

This week's matchup is for sole possesion of first place!

Thanks to Thomas Jones for getting hurt on the first play of the game...and double thanks to Kevan Barlow, the biggest bust of the FF Season so far

I haven't looked, but I think I still have first place. Oh, and Curtis Martin. Four touchdowns and I'm back in business baby. And it is Miami they are playing so......
Lot of chirping from some guy I beat weeks ago. Where are you, second last place or somethin'? :-*

Ugh. Helps a real lot that between Drew Brees and Mushin Muhammad (or whatever his name is) I had another 32 points - sitting on my bench. ::)
Not that I would have won with those points, but still. Didn't even break into double digits.
-
You've still got a TE and K playing tonight. You'll certainly break double digits...
-
My team finally has a big week and I still lose.
-
I'm starting to really wish we were playing for money...
-
That's always an option for next year. I like playing a couple of free games though too since it means everyone can play
-
Count me in for the "free" league then.
My 4-4 team is just about right as far as my Fantsasy Football skill level gets me every year. I've never won, but I've never come in last as well.

Being as this is my first time playing - maybe I'm just enjoying a rash of beginner's luck.
-
How much money is being spoken of here?
Kevin
-
Money is always an option, but we need to put in the flex position and 3 WRs to start for next season before I consider putting in cash. Each time I look at how few starting spots I have and how many bodies I have on my roster I literally shake my head. We need more starting spots for next season and I'd actually like to see us use the fantasy point system (which I've used in every league since I started playing fantasy sports) instead of rotisserie scoring. Just my 2 cents.
-
We're using rotisserie scoring?
-
We're using rotisserie scoring?
Peyton Manning had 18.72 fantasy points in our league yesterday. I have him on 2 of my other fantasy teams and his point total for yesterday (in each league) was 37.
-
Then what's the definition of rotisserie scoring then?
I'm sure in your other league all the other point totals are proportionally high making it a wash right?
-
I don't believe the way we are scoring in this league is considered rotisserie. Our basketball league is a rotisserie style scoring. Completely different that this.
That said, I wouldn't mind addition positions added, as well as a return to the way it was scored last year, or similiar to it. Where you get 1 pt per 10 yds rushing/recieving and 1 pt per 25 yds passing. The way it's scored now puts a little too much emphasis on TDs and almost none on yds gained. When a guy like Bettis can finish a game with 1 TD but only 3 yds rushing and outscores guys who finish with nearly 200 yds rush/rec but no TD, that doesn't seem right.
-

Why exactly would it be a wash? It's the default Yahoo scoring system, not a customized one.

I think it's pretty darn close to rotisserie. And I agree 100% on what you're saying about this scoring system. To be quite blunt, it's terrible. My team, which hasn't be great, is better than a 1-7 record but this system makes them a really poor team.
-
Being as this is my first time playing - maybe I'm just enjoying a rash of beginner's luck.
Ditto.
I don't know enough about scoring systems to complain though. On weeks when I felt my guys performed well, I did well. Lately I've had some holes and my scores have reflected that with (possibly) two straight losses. My QB's sucked both weeks, my WRs underperformed and my RB's have been under 100 yards and only a TD each, a little slow for them. The scoring, again noting I know very little how other leagues work, has been quite reflective of my team's performance.
-
I've played in leagues where scoring TD's and FG's is the only way you get any points. The yardage is a little off but not by much and so is having bonuses for longer TD's
This scoring system is around 40% yardage 60% TD...I don't see rewarding yardage over TD's thrown or passed as a viable option, in fact its stupid. I've read many times that you want your scores to sort of follow what NFL scores are and for the most part they do. I don't see why having a 230-121 score is any more fun than having it be 42-10. Your team still sucked either way.
I'm open to adding flex players next year, I wasn't going to change the rules after the fact. I don't want three WR, NFL teams don't "start" three receivers and that is really what Fantasy Football is about, mimicking what an NFL game is doing. As I've said repeatedly, this scoring system and line-up is one I've been using for over 10 years with people in the league I run more than happy with the way its done. Granted, we also play for money and pay to have a real fantasy website with live scoring and even more custom options. That is the drawback to free leagues.
-
Gotta love it when the top 3 performers on my team - Drew Brees, Mushin Muhammad, and Lamont Jordan - are all on my bench. Fire the coach, dammit!!
-
:o Holy crow! I beat the Defending Champs.

Ah, yes. Remember that TE I still had playing in tonights game? Well, guess what. 1 catch. 1 TD. Less than a 1 pt win for me. 8)

Yeah, all sorts of bastards stealing TDs from Martin >:( Can't be disappointed in his game though. More points for yardage please, after all, he's doing all the work ;)
Think it's time to bench the QBs in Miami and Oakland. Just for a week. Please.
-
Gotta love it when the top 3 performers on my team - Drew Brees, Mushin Muhammad, and Lamont Jordan - are all on my bench. Fire the coach, dammit!!
Hell, I'd nominate him for coach of the year!
-

I offered you up the Miami QB in trade for what it's worth...
-
I've played in leagues where scoring TD's and FG's is the only way you get any points.
Well in response to your 230-121 comment, not one league I've ever played in for fantasy football has had a score like that. The highest score I've seen this season was somewhere in the high 80s. I personally feel and agree with what's been said that too much emphasis was put on TDs. Look at it this way: If a hitter in baseball goes 4-4 with 2 doubles and a triple, but doesn't knock anyone in and only scores once, you would want him to be rewarded for those 3 extra basehits in addition to his having a perfect day at the plate right? If a receiver or back goes over 100 yards for the day but scores no TDs, you'd still want him rewarded for that and in this league there is no reward for that. In the other leagues I play in there is a reward.
I'm the exact opposite of you. All the years that I have played fantasy sports for the "Big 4" sports, I've played in fantasy point leagues.
This is all just my personal opinion based on my past experience, but I can say with a good deal of certainty that I won't play next year if this league stays the way it is.
-
Gotta love it when the top 3 performers on my team - Drew Brees, Mushin Muhammad, and Lamont Jordan - are all on my bench. Fire the coach, dammit!!
Hell, I'd nominate him for coach of the year!
Yeah, you should, because if that stupid coach would have started those 3 players, my team would have actually won the game.
-
Think it's time to bench the QBs in Miami and Oakland. Just for a week. Please.
I offered you up the Miami QB in trade for what it's worth...
Yeah, I saw it and I am thinking about it. Thanks for the offer. I'm just a little concerned about giving up my backup TE, there's not much out there and if Crumpler gets injured, I'm in a worse spot than not having a QB for one week. Not that TEs are great for points, but Crumpler has been good for 2-3 on average with some 7 point weeks mixed in.
Both Oakland and Miami suck, so there might be a teensy chance of their backups starting and I have both on my roster, so it's making me think. I will let you know either way though.
-

Yeah but if we're playing that game, I'd have had an extra 13 points if I'd just started Keyshawn Johnson over Donald Driver - so I'd have still won.

As 2004 JediDefender Fantasy Baseball Champion, I'd just like to give a heads up to Dustrho, your kicker slot has been -empty- for 2 weeks and Terry Glenn your WR is on IR, it basically looks like you've given up. Set your lineup!
This message has been brought to you by the National Republican Party.

Corey Dillon: good RB, but totally on my nerves.
Anyone want to offer me up a trade? PM me.

Whoo hoo. Michael Pittman scored me over 21 points!
-
I'll concede this one. My WRs sucked (I think only one played); I guessed at the wrong back up QB that would play, then Philly went to the dogs. Out of first am I. :-\
-
I've still got Peyton Manning tomorrow too. He's usually good for 12 points a game - more against a defense like Minnesota's. ;)
With this game behind me, I can clear out some room on my roster by dropping Krentzel and Fiedler...
-
Okay last update, this one is 8:30 PM EST:

Go Dragons! You win and I get sole posession of first place!
Looking at who Nataku has left to play Monday night, I like the odds of that scenario.
-
Me too. Hopefully a few Manning to Harrison TDs to boost my stats and give the Dragons the win.
-
Me too. Hopefully a few Manning to Harrison TDs to boost my stats and give the Dragons the win.
Well, this is why we play out the games...Interestingly enough, Matt Stover has already kicked 4 field goals tonight to add another 12 points to Nataku's deficit, putting Tatooine Express up over Nataku 39-23.
Gotta love it.

Finally I become the ass whooper instead of the ass whoopie!

Finally I become the ass whooper instead of the ass whoopie!
Yeah, I just love facing the last place team and then having them score, what I think is, the season high in our league. Who did our scheduling? >:(
And on another sour note, Pennington is out 2-4 weeks with a hurt shoulder.
So let's see who all has been hurt for me this year:
Pennington
McAllister
J Jones
Branch
Calico
Kinney
Fargas
D. Foster
Wrighster
C.Brown
The injuries just keep piling up for me. ::)

I need 3 Culpepper to Robinson TD's and a couple of Andersen FG's
Great work by the Detroit D which yet again scored 0...they either get 15 or 0...horrible
-
Is there a trade deadline?
-
November 26th, 2004 that was one of two choices I had to choose from, its a weird date but better than having it next week some time
-
In one of my other leagues I have a true showdown going: Myself and the other 1st place team are 7-1, facing each other head-to-head this week and I lead by 7 points going into tonite's MNF. I have Peyton Manning playing, he's got Edgerrin James.
-
I need 3 Culpepper to Robinson TD's and a couple of Andersen FG's
In this scenario, giving Culpepper 9 for the TD passes and say 2 for yardage minus an INT, plus 18 to Robinson plus 2 for yardage, you'd need 3 Andersen FG's.
It's not as fun as waiting for CNN to declare Ohio for President Bush last Tuesday, but it's close.
-
Un-friggin-believable! My highest scoring player of the week? Adam Vinatieri with 19.04 points, scored on:
-4 FG
-4 PAT
-1 Passing TD
-
I had one week where John Carney (Saints Kicker) scored me 22 points.
5 Field Goals - 2 from over 50 yards - and a PAT.
It was the same week that Manning had one of his 5 TD performances - I barely scored another point from anyone on my whole team but those two scored enough points for me to win.
-
Here's to hoping that Bennett runs in 2 TDs and Harrison hauls in 2 more... :-\
Jeff
Well...
I need 16.45 to tie.
So Far,
Pollard - 2 TD, 29yrd (12.58)
Harrison - 81 yrd (1.62)
Bennett - 33 yrd (.66)
14.86 points :(
If only I would have remembered to check my team and switch my defenses... then I'd have 16.86 and a victory.
Dumbass. :-[
Well, game's not over yet... 1.59 points to go.

-
Whoo hooo!
Look who's number 1!
Congratulations.
I'm trying to decide if my guys were a serious bunch of over achievers early on, or are just dogging it right now :-\ This week doesn't really bother me, I was serious second stringing it and guessed at the wrong backup QB that would play, not that it would have made any difference. But I just haven't had good outputs lately, not sure why.
Certainly not giving up. Having both of my ailing QB's have a week off is fine, also my WRs had the week off, so they should be better rested as well. Not sure what happened to Philly though :o Usually Akers is good for about 15 points per week. That has hurt quite a bit.
Mid-season slump is all, I'll be on the way back up shortly. Need to have my RBs play some dog defenses.
-
This week doesn't really bother me, I was serious second stringing it and guessed at the wrong backup QB that would play, not that it would have made any difference.
Bye-weeks are what makes it interesting. I've been able to get by pretty much unscathed and I don't think any of my players still have their week off coming up.
Not to mention my cut-throat tactic of picking up every available starting QB and sitting them on my roster for the week - then dumping them yesterday.
-
Yeah, prick you are :D But I'll keep my back up TE, thank you very much. And really, the difference between my QB's performance of two weeks ago and this past week amounted to a whopping 0.5 points, so no big. I lost, plain and simple. I've got backups for every position, so what do you do? Injuries happen.
Time for a comeback :P
-
Even though I'm 5-4 good for 6th place, I just realized how much bad luck I've had thus far. I'm 1st in the league in points scored with 405, but only in 6th place W-L.

I've had a few throughout the season but my guys have been pretty healthy overall.
Lost Kliensasser in like week 2 for the year...same with Ricky Dudley so I've had TE issues - but Dilger came through today with a TD and 50 yards...
Domanick Davis had been hurt off and on this year and only in the last two games has started to score a lot of points (2 td's each game).
Whoo hooo.
-
Man, one of my teams blew up today!
Manning - 5 TDs
Muhammed - 3 TDs
Emmitt - 2 TDs
Don't really care what the rest of the team did, that should be enough right there!

Oooh, Offensive Explosion by the OCB this week :)
-
Thanks for posting the results. Still have my kicker tomorrow night so I feel fairly comfortable in saying the slide is over :-*

So if Terrel Owens scores a couple TD's tomorrow (which is likely given how crappy the Cowgirls are) does that mean I'm running up the score?

Yeah, I'd say so. ;) I was beginning to wonder if I'd get out of the teens - guess not. Oh well, hopefully I don't have a disasterous week like this one going forward.

I'm confused about something... I have B.J. Sams on my team, who had 146 yards in kick and punt returns yesterday, but has 0 points? Is that right?? How can that be?
-
Did he score any TD's on those returns? I don't think we get points for return yardage in this league.
I remember being curious about that when I was looking at the box score for the Raven's game when my team played yours.

I believe Zod's right - we don't get any points for return yardage. Even if he scored on a return, I think the defense of the Ravens would get the six points for the touchdown.
-
No yardage for Returns he would get a TD for a return TD though as would the Ravens D

I was watching on Stat Tracker yesterday while I was working on my computer, I had what seemed an insurmountable lead on you almost halfway through your next to last player's game, Emmitt Smith, when he suddenly dove into the end zone right before the half, then again in the 2nd half. That's what set up Westbrook even having a chance to win it for you tonight with 2 TDs. It'll be interesting.
-
Okay, yeah, that was my oversight. But McNabb would have to score 4+ TDs to do you in Jokabofe.
McNabb is a rushing threat though too. He could run two in or any combination of the two...

12 points from my kicker tonight and I break 70. Be happy you got me during my slump and on a bye week, Zod :-*

One of my teams, which is now 9-1, won by 80 points this week!! Unbelievable.

I could have still beat you if we were playing this week.
With that 59 yard TD from T.O. a second ago, I'm over 75 points - and Owens has over 3 quarters of football left!

Oops. He did it again.

Todd Pinkston just received for a 59 yard TD pass.

Which means Famine's Pinkston still needs to receive for 3 more total yards to defeat HoloElvis.
Think McNabb will toss him a pass in the second half?

Is Dallas planning on doing something to stop the Eagles tonight? **** !!!

I love MNF for this very reason, more often than not 2 or 3 games can be decided
Two goods ones from my own history:
Last year Jason Elam needed to kick a FG and an XP to win on Monday night. He lined up to kick and missed and pulled his groin, he then kicked a FG and then came out of the game...one point loss...bastard
Four or Five years ago I played in a league where your Defense got -2 points if the lost and +2 points if the win. I went in to Monday Night trailing by 1 with my opponent having the fabled Giants D. The Giants lost, their D had no Fumble Recoveries, Ints, Sacks etc and I won by 1.

I'm closing in on 90 points!
Absolutely unreal. I bow before the might of the Zods. I was expecting Dallas to have some defense, thereby allowing a field goal or two to be scored (or 4 or 5) but I guess if the D allows nothing but TDs, there's no realy point in kicking field goals ::)
Still, a decent week for me to break the slump - number 3 quarterback and one of my back up running backs put up decent numbers.
Curse you TO.
-
Yeah, great week for me to take on the Zods :P. My mini winning streak comes to an abrupt halt. Heck of a team you've assembled there KBZ :). On a side note to the game last night, and was mentioned earlier I believe, that scramble and pass by McNabb to Mitchell last night...nice.
-
Thanks :) When you pick up Jerome Bettis in the 12th or 13th round as insurance never expecting him to play and he's among the league leaders in TD's it helps alot. Of course, so does Peyton Manning throwing 31 TD's in 10 weeks.
Did Pinkston ever get that 3 yard catch famine needed?
-
Just checked and nope, no 3 yd reception for Pinkston. Famine lost.
I'm back in second place, so I'm beating all of the Yankees in this pool except one :P

OK, what the hell is going on? They reversed my win last week and gave it to Famine! WTF commish? Do you have any info on this? Holy crow.
How did that get pulled off?
I'm all for me, but if he's getting kicked in the pants, please check this out!

It shows in the "stat corrections" section that your QB Hasselbeck had an adjustment of -6 yds rushing that was just made today, which looks to be just enough of a pt difference that it actually effected the outcome of your game.

Oooooooooh! That's the sickest thing so far in our league. Todd Pinkston catches a 50+ yard TD pass on Monday Night Football to leave Famine just 3 yards short (.06 points) of defeating you, you beat him, then it gets reversed because Hasselbeck's yardage was actually in error to the tune of .13 points, giving Famine the .07 point win.
Filthy.
-
In all the years I've participated in fantasy sports, I've never had a final decision reversed DAYS later because of some stat correction. That is utter and total bull****, and I have the wack scoring system to thank. I'm officially out of this league now guys. Send trade offers for anyone on my team you may want.

Kevin
No hard feelings toward you Kev, it wasn't your fault. But the bottom line is that this scoring system is flawed big time and shouldn't even be set up to where something so little can actually REVERSE a victory. It totally took away any momentum my team had built up by winning 2 weeks in a row and actually having a shot at the playoffs. I have no desire to participate in this league after this.
-
I see that they took away 6 rushing yards from Hasselbeck in the scoring change log which is why you lost
Yahoo lists 11 rushing yards
ESPN has 18
NFL.com has 17
So, I think you still won, I just need to figure out how to switch it back

Not to sound like a sore loser, but I'm confused...isn't this the scoring system we all agreed on when we started th leauge? Why are things getting changed this far into the season? Did I miss somthing? :-\
Kevin
-
Actually, if you look up Hasselbeck at ESPN.com and look at his game log, it shows 11 yds rushing on 2 rushes for week 10 for him.
-
Hmm, I thought it said 17
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/boxscore?gameId=241114014
-
It might say that in the box score, but chances are, they didn't go back to revise that part. Click on Hasselbeck to bring up his profile and look as his game by game stats, it shows him with 11 yds rushing for this game.
http://games.espn.go.com/cgi/ffl/players/profile?statsId=4416 (http://games.espn.go.com/cgi/ffl/players/profile?statsId=4416)
And I see why.
During the game, he was sacked by St Louis for a 6 yd loss. They must have (whoever the official scorekeepers are), and for whatever reason, looked at that play after the fact and determined it was not a sack but a rushing attempt by Hasselbeck, because the other stat correction for week 10 was -1 sacks by the StL defense.
-
The problem is, they switched it days after they finallized the results. I can see why they did it and I have seen that happen in the past but results should be final Tuesday morning
I think HE may be SOL because I see no way of changing the results. I'll send an e-mail to Yahoo
-
In all the years I've participated in fantasy sports, I've never had a final decision reversed DAYS later because of some stat correction. That is utter and total ********, and I have the wack scoring system to thank. I'm officially out of this league now guys. Send trade offers for anyone on my team you may want.
If you drop out, your roster ought to be frozen.
-

-
Hmmm...well I just checked my other league, they did not change the stats since they happened on Wednesday and all scores are final on Tuesday at 8AM

The fact remains that they changed it DAYS after, and not every site (Yahoo, ESPN, etc.) is even universally agreeing on this stat change from sack to rushing attempt. Bottom line is it is total BS and I'm out if this stands. I'll waive my whole team in protest and you guys can fight for the players.

I motion for HoloElvis' team roster to be frozen to keep the league's balance from being thrown into total chaos.
Commish?
And at any rate Holo, even if you were 3-7 instead of 2-8, what did you think you were going to win the last 3 games of the season and improve to 6-7 and make the playoffs? Unlikely, at best.
-

Speaking as the guy who plays your team in week 13, which could very well determine if I make the playoffs or not, I whole heartedly support your decision to waive all your players and vote that we allow you to finish the year with no players in your starting roster.
Stick it to the man! :P
Jeff
-
I agree with you HE, because there has to be a cut off for changes like this IMO. Check below to see what I mean...that's the official scoring From CBSSportsline who also does live scoring and stats for the NFL. All games are final Tuesday morning at 8 AM
The fact remains I cannot find a way to alter the scoring :-\
-
I couldn't care any less whether HoloElvis is 2-8 or 3-7, he's not making the playoffs in either scenario. All I'm saying is that he shouldn't be allowed to suddenly release all his star players into the FA pool and allow someone to concoct some kind of NFL dream team by snagging Clinton Portis and god knows who else. I think we can all agree that his roster should be frozen.
-

You just don't get it. The bottom line here is that I got the shaft because of a scoring "change" that isn't even universally recognized by all the fantasy scoring systems and it shouldn't be allowed to stand. Don't be such an ass.
-
I don't think I agree though that Famine doesn't have a case, there was a stat change and he could argue the final game stats should count. I agree with you more than him though in this case. Especially since they had already posted the win for you
-

Honestly, Famine has no case (and that's no offense to you Kevin) simply because this isn't a universal change, and you've shown proof of that. This is almost a judgement call on Yahoo's part. The victory had already been posted for me, and everyone saw that. DAYS later, Yahoo decides that it was a rushing attempt and not a sack. Now my question is what in the hell even prompted that, days after the fact, especially when not every fantasy league is even recognizing this? It's God damn ridiculous.
-
Yahoo didn't make the change, the NFL did, its an Official stat that he only had 11 rushing yards. What is arbitrary is the date of the change and what is official. I think the way they did that was bull****
-
Whoa, this looks messed up. As for the official stats, might I recommend that we reference the NFL's official stats at NFL.com (http://www.nfl.com) as the definitive source for stats? I see that some of the stats seem to vary slightly from different sources. I would say reference either the NFL site OR Yahoo alone since they're the host for the league.
-
Regardless, you can't change a final score days after the fact.
-
That's messed up on the part of the NFL. I would think that the stats would be final on the day of the game unless there's some kind of official protest. But even then I couldn't see how that might affect individual stats, no less days later.
-
I've seen lots of instances where a week or so later they change stats - most often with sacks and who is credited with them. The Tampa papers are always running little footnotes about so-and-so's stats being changed.
-
I know in the league's that I'm in where we have defensive players and not just team defenses, tackles don't get tabulated until Monday at the earliest. It still doesn't make this suck for you any less, HE.
-
Hey, don't get me wrong, stats do get changed, but for them to change a stat and then go back and change a FINAL SCORE and reverse a victory DAYS after the fact is plain wrong. In a real game, the score wouldn't be changed after the fact if video review showed that (for ex.) a ball really didn't clear the outfield wall and hit the top of it instead. They wouldn't take that home run away and change it to a single.
-
The only argument I have is the fact that this is the scoring system we agreed on, and let the change take place. It's not like they changed the point system for touchdowns and feild goads.
I dunno, as I said, maybe I'm crazy.
Kevin

I agree. It was a real tight matchup between you two, and the fact is that Hasselbeck did not rush for 17 yards, he rushed for 11 yards. The standings as Yahoo has it now are accurate, Famine wins the game. I know that the scores are supposed to be final on Tuesday morning, and my guess is that the .12 points from the initial statistical error did not impact many other fantasy league outcomes, in fact, our's might be the only fantasy league that a game was actually altered. But getting it right late is better than not getting it right at all. and Yahoo made it right this time.
-
Again, stat changes happen but the score was FINAL and should not be changed days later, regardless of a stat "correction."
If I were in Famine's spot, and he in mine, I'd want the decision reversed again to give him the win since it was final as of Tuesday morning. I think anyone here, obviously other than Dressel, would do the same.
Be sure to check the waiver wire boys.
-
Send any trade offers you want and watch the waiver wire for my guys.
I don't think so, HoloElvis' roster has to be frozen. Waiver wire pickups and lopsided trades cannot be allowed.

I'm just gonna self impose not looking at the roster so I'm not tempted.
I think we can all handel that.

I'm sure the commish will lock everything, but it doesn't matter at this point. Anyone who faces me will get a win now. It didn't have to come to this, but this was me voicing my displeasure at the decision and I think most of you would agree that I was robbed and can't blame me one bit for this.
Hopefully this will show everyone that this league's scoring system needs SERIOUS changes for next season so that there is no decimal points involved so something like this doesn't happen again.
Good luck the rest of the way boys, I'm out!
-
Commish, you did the right thing vetoing those trades and freezing everybody's roster.
Nicklab and KBZ, what the hell is wrong with you two? How many times are you guys going to try to cheat this season? You think it's okay to add players like Clinton Portis and Antonio Gates to your rosters from a guy who's trying to disrupt our league because a statistical error was corrected not in his favor? First you guys tried to change the rules of our starting roster size after the draft, now this? I don't know why anyone would want to play in a league with you two again. I'm not really surprised that you two tried all this though.
The other owners can see what you two attempted by looking in the roster move history archive. Just shameless.
Good job commish.

No, you're being an idiot and a sore loser. You shouldn't even be let back into the league for what you just attempted to do to ruin it. You're acting like a 2 year old.
-
OCB - nice job getting the rosters back to normal and locking up HoloElvis' squad. You did the right thing.
Props.

Well I tried to pick up guys too, so you can add me to your **** list Dressel. :P
I figured Scott would take care of it, but I wasn't about to let someone else grab them out from under me if he couldn't change it after the fact...

No retaliating against the other 13 teams in that manner was disgraceful. Newsflash Holo, Hasselbeck rushed for 11 yards, not 17. Deal with it. Trying to disrupt the entire league because your crappy 2-8 record team wasn't going to make the playoffs was retarded. You should never be allowed to participate in a league with us again. I doubt anyone agrees with your actions here, except for Zod and Nicklab who tried to cheat their pants off, as usual.

I've said my share on this matter now, I hear you Famine. Peace in JD Fantasy NOW!!

So I'm a sore loser for standing up for myself and my team after getting the shaft on a decision that cost me a loss and any chance of possibly getting into the playoff picture?
And I'm also an idiot because I protested a scoring correction that occured DAYS after my victory was FINALIZED? Put yourself in my shoes you self-righteous bastard and see the big picture. Why you're acting like such a jackass is no suprise because you've been one ever since my first day here. If it were you in my shoes, you'd be throwing a hissy fit. Look at how you insult me by saying my team sucks and everyone is beating me anyway. That just further proves my point sparky.
That felt better. Now, I don't blame OCB for doing what he did in restoring the rosters but not one of you (outside of Dressel Idiot) can blame me for being mad. You'd all feel the same way if you were in my shoes.
I have no intention of playing in this league next season anyway, especially if the the starting spots are so few, the league size is this big and the scoring is set in a way where fractions of points can cost a team a victory. I sincerely hope, for the rest of you, that the commish will make serious changes to his league next season. I'm sticking to my fantasy point leagues that never encounter issues like the ones I've raised. I've never had a problem like this in the many years I've participated in fantasy sports for the "Big 4" sports. It's a shame, but it didn't have to happen in the 1st place. Enjoy the rest of your season gentlemen (and lady Dressel.)

What's interesting is, this is the 7th week out of 10 that stat changes have taken place later in the week and therefore affected scoring by a point or less for some teams, and not a single word has ever been said by anyone.
Also, this way of doing things seems to be how Yahoo head-to-head leagues work. In the stat corrections section it says underneath the corrections-
"Note:
Player stat changes will only be run for Head-to-Head leagues if they apply to the just completed week.
These corrections were received after final box scores were transmitted and will not be reflected in most box scores, game summaries, etc. In most cases, however, player game logs will be updated to reflect these changes. "
So to me, that says so long as corrections happen before the next games start, they will be applied to just played games. In this case, it happened to affect the outcome of a game. Unfortunate, but not against any rules in this particular league.
HE, I'm not quite sure as to why the extremity of your behavior here. This is a free league that was meant to be played for fun. You are not losing any money here and you are also not losing a chance of winning any money by the outcome of this last game. It's one thing to be competitive, and hey, we all like to win, but it's another to act like a complete child over a meaningless fantasy football league.
-
Can some one lock this thread till our jets get cooled here? :-\
Kevin
-
Everyone needs to relax here for a while. This is not only just a football game, but its a fantasy football game. So come on, guys - there's no reason for all of the flaming. There's no reason we all can't be friendly or at least respectful to one another - so I suggest everyone make amends over PM.
Thread will be unlocked in one hour - that should be enough time for everyone to cool off.
Update:
Alright, I've unlocked this thread - I hope everyone has had enough time to cool off.
-
I'm cool. I'd like to at least get in a quick statement reflecting that I in no way shape or form cheated at anything. I offered a fair value trade for a player I've been trying to get for 3 weeks now - knowing that if anyone had a problem with it, it would be vetoed.
-

I'm cool too. And I'd like to respond. Right after we had our draft with an agreed upon starting roster of specific positions, a certain group of you namely Zod, HoloElvis, and Nicklab decided you'd have an edge because you could add a better 9th utility player to your starting lineup than the rest of us could, so you all tried to gang bang the people who were sticking to the agreed upon rules and starting lineup of roster positions by trying to have some kind of impromptu "vote" to add your player that gave you an edge to the lineup via the utility slot. If OCB had not been so level headed, you guys might have succeeded. Then, HoloElvis decides to retaliate against the other 13 teams when a statistical error correction went against him and he had his win reversed, and declares he's going to retaliate by dropping out and upsetting our competitive balance by transferring all of his stars to the first couple teams that contacted him. And who's right there to take advantage of this? Nicklab and Zod. Nataku was trying to protect himself, understandably I guess. Again, had OCB not been so levelheaded, this same group again would have gotten away with another incident. I don't see how you think it's not cheating Zod to try to gang bang all the other teams by trying to give yourself a leg up by adding a new roster position because you feel you can plug somebody in that's better than other team's potential untility player, and trying to scoff up someone's stars who is just doing it to retaliate against the league. What Nicklab tried to do with Clinton Portis was worse, true, but you know damn well what adding a TE like Gates with 8 TD's does when TE's who catch TD passes are in such low abundance. You couldn't get that deal done with HoloElvis all season until the day he declared retaliation and for someone to come scoff up all his stars. You should have known better, so stop playing Mr. Innocent like you didn't just try to pull a fast one. And I didn't appreciate the language in your PM either.
Having said that, I'm cool. But stop acting like you didn't try to pull a couple fast ones, because it's an insult to the collective intelligence of the rest of us.
-
I don't think Nicklab or KBZ knew that HE was dropping out of the game, if he would have offered me something as asinine as the trades being offered I would have probably accepted, not knowing what he was doing
Let me reiterate for the 100000th time, THIS IS FOR FUN. We're not playing for money, we aren't playing for jack **** and people are treating this like its for the ******* Super Bowl.
-

Wait, who proposed the trades?
-
OK, let's get something straight here. NO ONE was trying to cheat. Dressel, explain how suggesting we ALL expand our starting positions by an extra spot or 2 gives any 1 team an advantage over another when there are 14 teams in this league and no one has an advantage considering every single good player is on someone's roster? Adding an extra WR spot or the flex position was advantageous TO ALL because it was 1 more spot in your lineup to score points. It still blows my mind anyone would be opposed to trying to win. But for you to label that cheating shows nothing more than stupidity on your part.
KBZ has been asking me about Gates via PM for at least 2 weeks, and I told him if my season went to **** that I would trade Gates to him. Well, I scored the win this week and someone even posted how there was a great race shaping up for the last playoff spot with now 4 teams sitting at 3-7. Well, when my win got reversed, it totally threw any hopes for my season out the window. That was why I told KBZ that Gates was available, and let's face it, he was throwing plenty of talent my way in that deal. It should have gone through. I should have declined the Jones for Portis offer and countered with something more even. It doesn't make sense to lock my team since anyone facing me will have an advantage because of bye weeks, injuries (like Hasselbeck this week), etc. If you're so hell bent on keeping it even, someone better adjust my roster each week cause God knows I'm not doing it. But to suggest anyone was cheating is again stupid on your part.
And now to the accusation that I was trying to sabotage this league. Again Dressel, that shows total stupidity on your part. Do us all a favor and keep your 2 cents to yourself. I'd like each and everyone in this league to tell me with a straight face that they would not protest having a finalized victory reversed days after the decision. For those of you at the top of the pile, tell me you wouldn't. What if that came back and cost you a league title or playoff spot? Can you tell me in all honesty you'd be fine with it? My guess is HELL NO. Why should I be ok with it? It cost me a win and momentum. I was ready to start trading off players until I won and saw I could still finish strong. No chance of that now. Why sit back and take it in the poop shoot? The decision was crap. If a stat change is made after the fact, it should not affect a FINAL score. It wouldn't in any sport, just like the example I gave of the home run really not leaving the yard. It wouldn't be overturned and become a single and the runs wouldn't be taken off the board would they? I said from the start I was doing this in protest and no one should or can blame me for that. I was robbed.
Apparently Dressel is the spokesperson for this league now so since he's going to label us all cheaters who aren't welcome here, I'll be starting up a fantasy league next season w/ 3 WR spots, a flex position and fantasy point scoring w/ NO decimals. Basically, a legit league. Now that's no knock on OCB, but let's be realistic, your scoring system is terrible if it allows any opportunity for something like this to happen. That's the truth.
So for the rest of you guys, good luck in your season. I'll be coaching the rest of my 3 teams from here on out and won't be accessing the league again. I'll see you all around the boards and I'll see you cheaters in my league next season. ;)
-
Dressel, explain how suggesting we ALL expand our starting positions by an extra spot or 2 gives any 1 team an advantage over another when there are 14 teams in this league and no one has an advantage considering every single good player is on someone's roster?
The issue was never the addition of a flex position. The issue on that was the timing of it. That should have been discussed prior to the draft, not after. Having another offensive position would have completely changed most peoples draft, so yes, it would have put a few people at a disadvantage who were filling out there starting roster before filling in their bench spots.
That was why I told KBZ that Gates was available, and let's face it, he was throwing plenty of talent my way in that deal.
I saw the players who were in that deal and I'd hardly call the players in return "plenty of talent", especially when Gates is by far the top scoring TE in the league this year. You were getting a third tier DEF, a backup TE and 2 avg. WRs. Hardly a fair deal in my book.
I should have declined the Jones for Portis offer and countered with something more even.
I should say so considering Julius Jones is on the IR and is done for the year. The fact that Jones was even thrown in as part of any trade is a complete joke.
I'll be starting up a fantasy league next season w/ 3 WR spots, a flex position and fantasy point scoring w/ NO decimals. Basically, a legit league. Now that's no knock on OCB, but let's be realistic, your scoring system is terrible if it allows any opportunity for something like this to happen.
For what it's worth, had we not been using the decimal scoring, Famine would have still beat you, 30-29 by my calcs.
-
HE, to be honest, I wouldn't throw a fit over a loss in a FREE, FANTASTY, FRIENDLY leauge. Even a turn over a week later. I may complain from time to time about how my team sucks. Thats about as much complaining as you'd see from me. Maybe if the score was 3-20 and suddenly I lost to some one who only had 3 points to begin with, but that wont happen. It was a close game and it came down to a fraction, and they fixed the miscalculation. Your loss wont cause me to suddenly sweep and win, or cause any messups. Please get over it.
No one's losing any money, or gaining any, as Scott said. Also, every one else seems fine with Scotts scoring system, and aside from your loss, I havent noticed any big complaints.
I tried to keep my cool, and didnt wanna single anyone out but this is rediculous.
Like it or leave it folks.
It's just a game.

Talk about crying...
Insinuating that because I suggested I'd prefer to have a utility player in the league, I'm a cheater is among the dumbest things of all time. Just because you feel your team has no depth and couldn't handle it - it never happened, hence no cheating.
It's not like I looked at everyone else's rosters when I supported that idea and thought to myself, I've got the deepest team in the league, maybe I can exploit that and twist it to my advantage. I just thought it would be more fun to have extra players in and higher scores.
Whatever though dude - I could care less. I play by the same little electronic rules as everyone else, and I beat your team fair and square - and you're pointing fingers and crying foul.
-
Please stop bitching about this or I'll delete the damn thing and we'll never do this again

In fact...I'm going to lock this until tomorrow

According to Stat tracker it's Matt Carroll 51.36 and Zod 35.99, not that it matters for Zod cuz he already clinched a playoff berth.
-
Points schmoints. My TE has two TDs already :o
Now if only I could guess which QB and which WRs to start every week ::)
-
Well, I think I pretty much ****** myself this week by picking up Nick Goings yesterday, only to not play him today. In case you didn't see, he finished with 121 yds rushing and 3 TDs. :'(
And you're welcome Jeff. ;)
-
While Owens had a sub-par day, he still hauled in 1 TD... Got Davis and Driver playing right now (Davis has scored 1 TD so far) - but I don't think they'll score enough to overcome the lead and cushion for whatever Tony Gonzales will score tomorrow night.
And to think, I had Jurevicious (82 yards, 2 TD's) and Pittman (100+ yards, 2 TD's) on my bench this week... :-\
I probably need 2 or 3 TD's between those two to have a legitimate shot...
-
Anyone know why Yahoo isn't showing current scores?
Usually when I get to work monday morning there is a current score. Today it's showing all 0.00's.
-
Must be waiting for stats from their Stats Provider
-
Maybe after last week, they won't be posting scores until Friday. :P
-
Maybe after last week, they won't be posting scores until Friday. :P
I figure they saw the disaster here last week so they're being much more cautious :-X
-
The scores from yesterday are up now. I need a decent night from Tony Gonzalez (8.20 points) to beat Zod. :-\
-
Can someone please post the scores. I believe I am being shut out by our server here at work ::) The nerve, don't they realize I have important things to look at :P

Well, now I don't feel so bad. Even if I had started Goings, I still would have lost by about 6-7 pts. Just super. ::)
-
Wow, what a lacklustre effort again. Enough to win, but probably only cuz it seems Chris has given up here. Thanks for posting that Matt.
I guess it's a good thing my TE showed up because no one else did >:(

Looks like Jeff and Dave have a jump on the last playoff spot :-\

:)
Finally, my team is getting back on track... is it wrong that my kicker is my best player and highest scorer so far this year? :-\
Now I've just gotta beat The Famine next week (and the NYG play against Philly's D!) and then roll past H-E's team in week 13 to try to make that last playoff spot...
Jeff
-
Oh, sounds like Jeff has it sown up then :-[ :'(

The scores from yesterday are up now. I need a decent night from Tony Gonzalez (8.20 points) to beat Zod. :-\
That's 110 yards and a TD or just two TD's. Lucky for me the Patriots have a [understatement] decent defense. [/understatement]
Of course, there wouldn't be anything to talk about if I'd just been smart enough to start Michael Pittman.
-
In my other league I need the Pats to get me 3 points for a W, they've actually been disappointing on D this year
-
In my other league I need the Pats to get me 3 points for a W, they've actually been disappointing on D this year
Maybe in terms of fantasy football points, but in terms of overall defense they're certainly good enough to stop Tony Gonzales.

What the hell is up with the standings at the league?! My record has been changed from 6-4 to 3 wins, 1 loss and 6 ties. WTF?!
-
Hmmm, that's odd. Looks like everyone's record has changed. Someone hack the game?? ;D
Or maybe someone from Yahoo went back and checked all the weekly stats and noticed a few discrepancies, and changed them all to the proper point totals?? ;D ;D
-
Okay, now it's changing even more. What the hell is going on?! Even though it's moved me into 2nd place, this is ridiculous.
Okay, upon further investigation, now the standings for Weeks 7 - 10 have everyone in the league with 0 points per game, resulting in the discrepancy. Why is this happening?
-
I just signed in and everything looks normal to me.
-
I'm lost here, ****'s changing in points in the system or just individual games?
Kevin
-
Your system is on crack. I just checked the page out of curiousity and everything is the same.
-
So now it's back to normal. This is just bizarre.
-
Here's an update on the 2 close games being decided on Monday Night Football:
Dressel's Rebellion 42.26
Nicklabs Nuckleheads 39.61
The Zods 59.55
Springfield Isotopes 52.34
I'm still going to lose to Nicklab this week even though I took a temporary lead due to Corey Dillon's 2 first half TDs, but every time he scores Adam Vinatieri takes 1 point back via PAT, plus he has Blaylock rushing for KC and Graham TE for the Pats. Who knows, maybe Dillon will score 2 more TDs and I'll pull out a squeaker, but I doubt it.
-
Adam Vinatieri just kicked a field goal. Leading this week was fun while it lasted.
:'(
-
Yikes. Gonzales is getting his yardage no doubt - he just got mauled in the endzone on what probably would have been a TD - got pushed right out of the way and didn't get a flag (lucky me I guess).
Still a lot of football. He needs about 60 yards and that TD still.
Or of course, a pair of TD's gets the job done.
-
The locked team pulls the upset! ;D Now that reversal looms large because I'd be at 4-7 w/ a few others.
-
I managed to cheat my way to another win!
-
I managed to cheat my way to another win!
How so?
-
It was tongue in cheek - a little jab about the blow up we had here the other night.
There isn't even any way to cheat.
-
This has been a pretty bizarre year in FF so far. Look at the top 10 point scorers in the league - 5 of them are QB's. Usually the top point scorers are almost always RB's. Strange indeed. I guess that's what happens when Peyton Manning throws 4 and 5 TD's a game ALL SEASON LONG instead of handing the ball to James, huh?
-
He threw SIX yesterday. ;D
-
Eli better start acting like his brother, this sunday.
Yikes. I'd like to have one awsome victory someday.
Kevin
-
3 minutes left, KC and San Diego. Both of my defenses playing each other, score is 31-31. ::)

Only if his kicker makes 5 field goals, 2 PATs, and Donald Driver doesn't play.
Always missing the bigger picture my friend, he doesn't need 5 field goals. It depends where they're kicked from. Some are worth more.
At any rate, you're in the playoffs regardless.
-
Once again the reversal looms large. It may ultimately cost me a playoff spot as I'm am now in the thick of the race.
-
I know...he could do it with some comination of 2 or 3 fifty yarders and a shorter one or two and a PAT or two - Donald Driver is usualy good for anywhere from 1 to 9 points too.
Playoffs or not, I want to keep winning. :)
-
Once again the reversal looms large. It may ultimately cost me a playoff spot as I'm am now in the thick of the race.
Are you even in control of your team? 2 weeks ago you dropped out and tried to give away all of your players until Scott stepped in and rightfully vetoed everything and locked your team. And now you're interested in your team's results?
-
Driver's got me another 7.46 points, Jeff Wilkins has scored 4 points, and it's a minute and a half until the fourth quarter.
I think it's safe to call my game.
Where the hell is Dusthro anyway?
-
I'm closing in on the Defending Champs. Almost there!

I'm closing in on the Defending Champs. Almost there!

Don't make me "Miss-Cleo-icon" that statement :D
New stats are up this morning, the following 6 teams are in the playoffs:
The Zods
Canuckleheads
Nicklab's Nuckleheads
Dressel's Rebellion
Springfield Isotopes
Tatooine Express
It looks 3 teams are fighting for the last 2 spots:
Nataku Dragons
Nerfherders
Purple cobras
Purple cobras is 1 back in the loss column behind Nataku and Nerfherders and must win in order to have a shot.
-
Yeah its going to be a fun week, too bad I won't be joining the fun. Looks like I could play Spoiler though for Brian :P

Yeah, and I'm guessing you will Scott. I just can't get my guys motivated to play anymore :) They're only in this for the paycheck apparently ;).

Zod you're in the playoffs - end of story.
But the actual score Stat Tracker has for you is:
Zods 52.93
Tatooine Express 42.69
-
That's cool - but I'm still enjoying winning in the meantime.
Which I may very well not do this week.
Wonder how my math was off by 3 points... - probably something to do with that Shutout my defense got...
How many points for a shutout?

Maybe I'm stretching... but looking at your line up you have a solid team.

Would I have not made it because of the point total, because I just beat Nataku so head to head I would have gotten in. At any rate, I hope the whole situation will lead the commish to change the scoring system for future leagues.

From last week:
Just wanted to point out the Tie Breakers Yahoo has set up in case two teams tie in record this week:

Since we had the same Win %, it would have been determined by total points, so I would have still squeaked by you (thanks to my higher point total) even if you had not lost your earlier win.

Question.
My two best players - are on teamst that are 9-3 and 11-1.
Am I just **** outta luck if the Eagles clinch HFA in week 15 and Terrel Owens sits out the last two games or if Manning and the Colts can't increase or decrease their playoff seed so he sits out the last game or two?
-
Ahhh, the quandry of the having guys on good teams at the end of the year :)
In my main league we have no "PLAYOFFS!?!?!" because of this very reason. Almost every league in existance has playoffs though and it sucks that you can dominate the whole year and then get bounced because your guys play only a half in Week 16
I know some leagues have it where the regular season champ get $$$ and so does the playoff champ. I've heard of getting dough for being the high scorer too.

I need a big Tennessee Titan linebacker to inflict a transient injury and cripple Tony Gonzalez from 9 PM to midnight tomorrow night. Then I wish Mr. Gonzalez 100% health, prosperity, and happiness for life especially when I draft him in the 3rd round of next year's fantasy draft.

Weird how this is the second time in a month that it comes down to Tony Gonzales on Monday night...at least this time I don't need 2 TD's. :)

Looks like the interest level in this thread plummeted once people started getting eliminated huh?

FWIW, I'm still interested.

Mine jab was a 4-LOSW reference, but I could definitely see you harboring a terrorist mastermind.
Don't get too excited though - there's still 25 minutes of football left to be played.
It is my destiny. I have known it since obtaining the LeBron James-Shaquille O'Neal-Paul Pierce triumverate.
Triple Crown Fantasy Champ on the way...
-
And, BTW you have a long, long, long way to go to overtake the top two NBA teams right now...but keep dreaming!

I just got the same feeling I did when Brit Hume called Ohio for Bush.
-
BTW Zod my 2 starting RBs have scored 30 more points than your best 2.
That's cool. My QB has scored almost TWICE as many points as yours, and my top receiver has scored more points than BOTH of your starting two.
You'd better hope to lose tonight - it will be less embarassing.
-

I'm like this runaway fantasy freight train barreling through the opposition. BTW Scott, you're 0 for 2 against His Dresselness. Maybe 3rd times a charm? :-*

Where's that Miss Cleo icon when I need it?
-
You'd have to make a new one - the one I have has a Dresselian all over it.
-
I like the odds of Peyton Manning and Terrell Owens taking reduced roles next week. Why injure them?
-
If you win - that will be why.
But both of those teams are still fighting for playoff positioning - if they're going to sit, it will be in week 16 or 17 - not next week.
Hell, Peyton's gonna shatter Marino's record next week - he's definitely not sitting.
-
Plus there is still something called Home Field Advantage to play for
-
Okay I'm going to shut up now. For starters, Matt Carroll could still come back and kick my ass tonight. Secondly, I gotta get up at 6 AM. I'm off to slumber, I'll check back in the morning.
Peace out y'all.
-
Damn, and I was all gearing up with a "as impressive as the whopping 29.00 points you put up here in the playoffs are....I'm not scared" or some varient thereof.
Maybe next time...

And you dodged another bullet - Larry Johnson scored from way out - no chance for TG to get the ball.
Lucky you!

Question...Did Brent let anyone know to change his line-up or post somewhere in case there was an injury on his team?
He never mentioned anything to me about it. What a shame too. Had he started either one of his backup QB's, he would have won this week. :-\
-
Yeah, I feel bad for even winning this week, because I shouldn't have. Had he started Volek, he would have beaten me fairly soundly. Figures the only time I win is if someone doesn't get the chance to change their lineups :P.
-
That sucks for him I guess, I didn't notice it until now either. Sorry Brent :-[
-
And, BTW you have a long, long, long way to go to overtake the top two NBA teams right now...but keep dreaming!
How do you figure? One point is not a "long, long, long way..."
Rank Team FG% FT% 3PTM PTS REB AST ST BLK TO TOTAL
1 Mos Eisley Mynocks 9 3 10 6 8 5 7 7.5 10 65.5
2 Minnesota Muskies 7 10 9 7 4 4 6 3 9 59
3 Dressel's Rebels 8 1 5 9 10 10 9 5 1 58
Besides, in just over 2 weeks I've gone from 9th place with 37 points to 3rd place with 58 points.
EDIT: Stat tracker has me in 2nd place right now. It's tight, but second place nonetheless. At any rate, it's way too early in the season to start worrying about standings. But still.
-
Hey Zod- 6 days left until I end your JD Fantasy Football season. Take a moment to reflect on your streak, because it's over in less than a week.
-
It won't happen - I plan on scoring over 30 points.
And if even by some miracle you win, my season won't be over - there's the 3rd place game left to play.
Maybe next year buddy.

I'm gonna drop you like a prospective Kerry supporter in Ohio.
-
Ah, a political drop - must mean I have you on the defensive with all this smack.
-
Less than 5 days left for Kneel Before Zod to claim any kind of victory this fantasy season. It's time to cancel his contract.
-
You're right.
I don't stand a chance!
-
Question...Did Brent let anyone know to change his line-up or post somewhere in case there was an injury on his team?
My grand "oops" for the trip. I did not let anyone know. McNair seemed healthy, if not stellar, before I left, so I just let it ride. Kind of sad to see that I could have made the semi's but lost due to that kind of goof :'( But I knew what the rules were ahead of time, so I'll live with it. Good luck to Brian in the semifinals (and everyone else in there). At the very least I can check the scores and make shallow, pointless comments if my score ends up higher than anyone I would have played :P
I have to be honest though. I am disappointed, but really, fantasy football was not really in the high priority part of my mind for the last two weeks. I completely lost track of the days out there anyway and didn't even bother looking for sports highlights. Just be happy I did that, or I would have been completely intolerable had I won this thing. ;)
-
You're right.
I don't stand a chance!
It's good to see you've come to grips with your fate.
-
Yep, my only plan is to strap some padding to my ass so getting spanked by Dressel's Rebel's won't hurt as much
-

Foam packing peanuts work well.
-
Fitting, since my team will probably be packing it in.
-
It's kind of funny that only two people are trash talking and there are 4 people left in the playoffs. Hmmm.
-
I would be trash talking, if I weren't so goofy ::)
-
Dressel and I have been talking trash for almost 2 years - this is just a continuance.
-
Looks like Dressel might get a boost.... T.O. is listed as questionable for the game - but he intends to play.
Lucky for me I scored Galloway off of waivers a few days back as insurance - he's scored 3 TD's in his last two games and goes up against a crap Saints defense. Hell, even if T.O. does play, I might start Galloway over Driver...

Dressel by 6 over Zod to knock him out of the playoffs.
-
Zods win in a rout.
By at least 20 points.
-
Look who's grabbed an early lead...
The Zods vs. Dressel's Rebellion
The Zods (11-2-0)
- QB P. Manning (Ind - QB) - 0.00
- WR T. Owens (Phi - WR) - pm 0.00
- WR J. Galloway (TB - WR) - 0.00
- RB D. Davis (Hou - RB) - 0.00
RB J. Bettis (Pit - RB) - 8.86
- TE K. Dilger (TB - TE) - 0.00
- K J. Carney (NO - K) - 0.00
- DEF Tampa Bay (TB - DEF) - 0.00
Total 8.86
Dressel's Rebellion (7-6-0)
- QB J. Delhomme (Car - QB) - 0.00
WR H. Ward (Pit - WR) - 2.68
- WR An. Johnson (Hou - WR) - 0.00
- RB S. Alexander (Sea - RB) - 0.00
- RB C. Dillon (NE - RB) - 0.00
- TE Da. Clark (Ind - TE) - 0.00
- K S. Graham (Cin - K) - 0.00
DEF Pittsburgh (Pit - DEF) - 1.00
Total 3.68
Of course, you've got Delhomme up tonight - so he might get you 8 or 9 points...so by morning you might have a slim lead, but I'll have more guys left to play...
-
I love your little ego-trip-posts every week where, instead of just waiting for stat tracker to be posted by one of us, you actually bust out your calculator and figure out your score and your opponent's score. I would love nothing more than to deal your huge ego a heavy blow tomorrow.
-
There's nothing ego-related involved whatsoever.
I'm too cheap to spend money on the stat-tracker and enjoy following the score.
Sorry if being behind after having had your start receiver and your defense go compared to just one of my RB's gets you all hot and bothered.
-
By the way, I don't use a calculator to tally that up.
-

Right, too cheap for batteries too.
-
No, just don't need it to add numbers with two decimal places.
Besides, my calculator is solar powered.
And with Delhomme's first half stats you're only behind by about 0.8 points now! You're going to go into Sunday morning with a lead unless he starts throwing picks!
Good for you.
-
I don't think this is going to be one of those days where Peyton Manning gets you 15 points, he's going up against a Ravens D that has given up only 10 TD all year long. I doubt Peyton throws more than 2-3 tops. I hope :-X
-
They're playing in the Dome, so it should help - but you're probably right. I'm not expecting more than 12 or so out of Manning today.
Most disappointing so far for me is that through almost a half of football T.O. and Davis don't have any TD's. T.O. hasn't even caught a pass.
-

With TO's back and a capable backup, I'm really surprised you started him. He's caught one pass for 4 yards.
At the same time, Shaun Alexander and Andre Johnson don't have any TDs yet through the half either. My kicker is almost at the half and scored 4 pts, current score is Dressel 18 Zod 10.

Well, the fantasy reporting thing said that T.O. was fine and planned to play. My capable backup (Driver) is playing in sub-zero temperatures today with nasty wind gusts, so you've gotta figure there won't be much of a passing game for that game.
Of course, now T.O. just got his leg ripped off, no word on the injury yet, but it doesn't look like he's coming back - not good for the Zods.
-
X-rays are negative for Owens, he's got an ankle sprain and plans on taping it and coming back to finish the game - we'll see...
-
And now they've said he's out for the game.
I've been very fortunate with injuries so far this year - but that sucks.
-
Don't feel bad, I just watched Shaun Alexander miss a TD by 3 inches on 3rd down, then get into the goal on 4th down and fumble.
-
Yikes.
I don't have that game on here - but I do have the uber-exciting Houston game on t.v...

Be happy I was on vacation, my two RB's have four touchdowns between them and over 200 yards. It may be a moot argument since I'm out, but believe me, I'm keeping track.
-
Yikes.
I don't have that game on here - but I do have the uber-exciting Houston game on t.v...
Yeah that one looks positively thrilling.
-
Yeah, the scores for the two games on right now:
Dallas 7, Philly 6
Houston 10, Chicago 5
Whoopie.
I'm off to my local sports bar to watch the Bucs game - I'll check in when I get back.
Good luck.
-
I fought bravely.
-
What's the stat tracker say?
Mine looks like this:
The Zods vs. Dressel's Rebellion
The Zods (11-2-0)
* QB P. Manning (Ind - QB) - 0.00
WR T. Owens (Phi - WR) - pm 0.48
WR J. Galloway (TB - WR) - 6.74
RB D. Davis (Hou - RB) - 8.34

K J. Carney (NO - K) - 3.00
DEF Tampa Bay (TB - DEF) - 14.00

WR H. Ward (Pit - WR) - 2.68
WR An. Johnson (Hou - WR) - 0.62
RB S. Alexander (Sea - RB) - 1.92
* RB C. Dillon (NE - RB) - 0.00
* TE Da. Clark (Ind - TE) - 0.00
K S. Graham (Cin - K) - 5.00
DEF Pittsburgh (Pit - DEF) - 1.00
Total 19.62
* Yet to play
Statistically you're alive - but by very very little.
-
Nah, i'm gone. It looks like it's almost certainly Zod vs. Nicklab in the JD Fantasy Super Bowl next week.
-
Not that it matters, but Stat Tracker actually gave you a double touchdown for Galloway for that punt return. It has him for 12.74. So you got 2 TDs for him and still got that same TD 6 pts under DEF for the punt return. It counts double. Just a little salt in the laceration.
-
:o So Galloway counted over 12 points plus the extra 6 under Defense?! Didn't expect that.
-
Looks like you and me, KBZ, that is if Tom Brady doesn't have the game of his career. Who would've thunk it with my RB problems this year?
-
Yeah that TD counts for Galloway and the Tampa D
-
Not bad at all. So is your team still intact?
I'm assuming T.O. won't play at all since he hurt himself today and the Eagles locked up HFA.
I'm also doubting that Peyton Manning will play if he breaks the record tonight and the Colts playoff spot can't be changed...
My back up QB - Brian Griese might be benched for Chris Simms next week since the Bucs season is all but over...
Bettis might sit since his team is rolling....
I'm concerned about my line up come next week - very concerned.
-
Yeah that TD counts for Galloway and the Tampa D
Schwing!
-
Terrell Owens needs ankle surgery and is done for the year.
-
Just saw that.
Crappy.
I managed to beat you without him, I'll just have to get lucky with my other receivers next week...
Shame. Although, I love that it puts a kink in those reservations Philly fans made for Jacksonville...
-
It should be noted that if Cory Dillon rushes for 155 yards and 5 TD's tonight - I lose.
-

We'll all be on the edge of our seats :D
Good luck against Nicklab.
-
Hey now, against the Dolphins it's entirely possible that Dillon could score 43 touchdowns.
-
Hey now, against the Dolphins it's entirely possible that Dillon could score 43 touchdowns.
Speaking of the Dolphins, did you see the Ricky Williams interview from yesterday? He is one serious fruit loop.
-
Agreed. Good for him for following his dreams or whatever, but when it comes to understanding how he screwed his teammates, the guy just doesn't get it.
-
You got a serious blow dealt to you with T.O. being out. Can't say I have much sympathy for the guy since he's such a showboat on the field, but it sucks that one of your top scorers is out. If I wind up winning, it kind of cheapens the victory with TO out with an injury.
-
Tell me this doesn't hurt deeply :'(

Did that secure you 5th Brent?
-
Dunno, doesn't really matter. Only thing that matters is I went on vacation and McNair got hurt. Foolishly I didn't switch to Volek (mostly because I didn't have computer access and didn't really worry about it, I thought McNair was healthy - again - finally). Had I switched in Volek I would have beat mosnab and met up with you, resoundingly thumping your ass.
Yes, the whole point is moot since I didn't make the switch, but I can enjoy the fact I would have been in the final for a rematch against Zod. Hawaii wins over fantasy football anyway, but I can still be a dink with the best of them. :P
-
I'd trade Hawaii for being in the JD FFL final too.
EDIT* - Just looking at the numbers now. Yeah, you would've beat me soundly this week (unless I had started Roy Williams instead of Reggie Wayne), and I had a good week. But you still would've beat me by about 10 points unless Vinatieri went on a scoring streak.
-

Yeah, I'm not lamenting over his injury or anything - with the exception of in this situation here. T.O. aside, I'm concerned about other players not playing... like Manning or Bettis.
We'll see I guess.
-
Home field is still up for grabs in the AFC I think so I would think all teams will still be playing their hearts out in Week 16. The Eagles and Falcons are really the only teams with nothing to play for
-
I hope that's the case - I also hope Manning is looking to SHATTER that touchdown record this week.
-
Well, I'm leaving tomorrow for Florida - might not be around the computer much. In any case, good luck to the nuckleheads and I should be back to check in sometime Sunday night.
-
Good luck to you and the Zods. Enjoy Florida too, and Happy Holidays.
-
Hey everyone... Just checking in and glad to see that Donald Driver managed to net more points than Randy Moss. Who'da thunk it?
Driver - 9.24
Moss - 6.60
So far so good...but I'm highly concerned about Larry Johnson and Julius Jones - two young guys, who have fresh legs, and are hot as of late.
Merry Christmas everyone.
-
Unless my math is wrong, we've got a close one!
The Zods (11-2-0)
QB P. Manning (Ind - QB) - 8.83
* WR J. Galloway (TB - WR) - 1.20
WR D. Driver (GB - WR) - 9.24
RB D. Davis (Hou - RB) - 9.78
RB J. Bettis (Pit - RB) - 2.60
* TE K. Dilger (TB - TE) - 0.10
K J. Carney (NO - K) - 6.00
* DEF Tampa Bay (TB - DEF) - 1.00
Total 38.75
Nicklabs Nuckleheads (9-4-0)
QB J. Harrington (Det - QB) - 1.18
WR R. Wayne (Ind - WR) - 1.22
WR R. Moss (Min - WR) - 6.60
* RB J. Jones (Dal - RB) - 1.30
RB La. Johnson (KC - RB) - 14.44
TE T. Heap (Bal - TE) - 0.68
* K A. Vinatieri (NE - K) - 10.00
* DEF Buffalo (Buf - DEF) - 2.00
Total 37.42
And given who's left playing for each team, I don't like my chances.
-
Okay, my sheet shows this:
The Zods (11-2-0)
QB P. Manning (Ind - QB) - 8.83
WR J. Galloway (TB - WR) - 7.96
WR D. Driver (GB - WR) - 9.24
RB D. Davis (Hou - RB) - 9.78
RB J. Bettis (Pit - RB) - 2.60
TE K. Dilger (TB - TE) - 0.46
K J. Carney (NO - K) - 6.00
DEF Tampa Bay (TB - DEF) - 1.00
Total 45.87
Nicklabs Nuckleheads (9-4-0)
QB J. Harrington (Det - QB) - 1.18
WR R. Wayne (Ind - WR) - 1.22
WR R. Moss (Min - WR) - 6.60
RB J. Jones (Dal - RB) - 1.34
RB La. Johnson (KC - RB) - 14.44
TE T. Heap (Bal - TE) - 0.68
K A. Vinatieri (NE - K) - 11.00
DEF Buffalo (Buf - DEF) - 6.00
Total 42.46
But there's plenty of room for error since I'm just looking at box-scores.
Anyone with a stat tracker want to come in here and declare one of us the actual winner?
-
Not sure where you got those numbers, but my Stat Tracker came up with the following final:
Nicklab's Nucklehead's: 43.46
The Zod's: 45.84
Congrats, KBZ!
-
I just looked through the boxscores on espn.com to come up with my number, so it's not as accurate. Talk about close though!
So is that official? I left my house with basically a 1 point lead, and Galloway, my defense and TE playing. But you had Vinatieri, J. Jones and the Buffalo defense. I was sure I was toast since Jones has been hot and the Bucs were behind and getting killed.
The defense and TE got me a whopping 1.5 points or so, but Galloway scored in the 4th quarter. And to think I picked him up as a free agent a few weeks ago because I got worried that T.O. would be sitting come this time of year.
-
Looks like you got it. I checked the scores again today, and the score I gave you last night was short by 1/100th of a point, so you increased your margin by that much. I'm glad it was a tight week. Too bad I didn't start Kerry Collins though... :(
-
Well, now that MNF has come and gone, it's official.
1) The Zods
2) Nicklab's Nuckleheads
3) Dressel's Rebellion
I ended up winning 11 straight games - Domanick Davis getting over his injury, combined with realizing Jerome Bettis would be contributing all year and was worth starting got the ball rolling. Whoo hoo.

My first season paying attention to the NFL was a blast.

Congrats, Rob.
It was a well-battled season, but at least I made the playoffs and lost to the guy who's going to win it all... ;)
Jeff
I say again - Congrats, Rob! :)
Jeff
-
Kudos on Winning it all Rob. Winning FF is 50% luck and 50% skill and your team certainly showed a little of both this year. Congrats on the Championship and I'm glad everyone had a good time.
-
Thanks everyone. This was the first year I played FF so maybe it can just all be chalked up to beginners luck. So does this mean next year I have to name my team Defending Champs?
-
This has been a little more anti-climactic than I was hoping it would be...
