Beautiful work DD.  That's outstanding, and it's nice to see you customizing ships too.  It looks like the perfect home for that custom Tiin figure that you made.  I can visually see him flying over Coruscant or in some space battle.

That ship is really well done DD!  Nice work, the lines look very crisp.
Is that all spray painting and masking or were the green parts hand painted?   What kind of paint works well on vehicles?

That starfighter looks excellent on that background, nice job on that too!
The scariest thing that I've ever seen,
Is the terrible AT-AT walking machine.
It's as big as a house on walking legs,
and whatever it steps on it crushes like eggs.

I like I like.  Did you use acrylic paint or enamels?

Some rebel generals. In case you can't tell, I like Quarren and Trandoshans quite a bit for customs.  ;D

I know this is from the first page, but I had to comment on the human rebel general: What head was used? it looks EXACTLY like my freind's dad!

Perennial: There's a custom blast from the past! The human generals head is from a BBI Marine figure. They reuse that head sculpt a lot, so it should be relatively easy to find...if you want to make a custom of your friend's Dad!  ;D

Smartypants: Actually, the "Wolverines!" reference comes from an 80's movie called Red Dawn, featuring your favorite actor and mine, Patrick Swayze.  :P The joke's a lot funnier if you've seen the film.

Gregorbian: The entire green areas of the starfighter were done by spray painting it, although the battle damage and weathering were done by hand.

Bjardkerr: I try to only use Acrylics. Enamels are too unpredictable with different plastics.

Famine: Your fighter sounds like an interesting concept...I look forward to seeing it!

Chewie: My customizing passion is still figures, but I have a few extra ships lying around, so I figured...why not?   ;) Besides, I always likes Saesee Tinn, especially in that second season of CLONE WARS.

Shadow troopers
« Reply #472 on: September 24, 2005, 10:06 PM »
Ah, is it Saturday already? Time for my first update of the weekend then.

Recently, Red5sixx got the Utapau Shadow Troopers in stock, and I got to check them out. This is one "batmanization" clone I actually like, but I don't want to spend the dinero to have a small squad of them. Luckily, as a customizer, I don't have to! Here's my first Shadow trooper custom, and the Shadow Unit commander, who I've dubbed Commander Wraith.

I'm not sure he's finished yet, so suggestions are welcome. I also may auction Commander Wraith off for the relief effort, once everyone's customs are in.

I'll have more updates throughout the weekend, I hope. I've got a few that are near completion...

86 the white pouches for red, and it'll be perfect. The white pouches look like sore thumbs to me. Yeah, that Commander would sell well, I think. :)

I think that you should give the commander a white colorashion(sp) like Commander Bly.

Nice, nice, nice!  They look super evil too, like the kind of people who shoot Jedi in the back.

Very well done DD.  Other than what Famine said I think they are probably done.  Maybe a slight dry brushing with white/light tan, but I wouldn't try and overdo it.

JNiebs-

And then he wouldn't be a Utapau Shadow trooper. What whould the point of that be?

DD I think it looks great. I agree on the pouches. While I normally like my clones weathered abit, I think that this one looks better like this and I'd skip the drybrushing. That will definitely sell well. :)

I really like the red you used.  Is that a custom color or what?  It looks like if one were close enough, one could see one's own reflection in their visors.

I'd keep these guys clean, but that's just me.  They look more evil and untouchable w/o the battle damage.  These guys seem like assassins who strike and exfil without anybody knowing they were there, or where they came from.  Hence, they stay a tad "cleaner."
