Well it looks like K-Mart has another exclusive for this year... I saw Yakface tweet about this earlier, but a picture has turned up of a 6" Sgt. Jyn Erso like the title says.
She appears to have at least an exclusive base going for her... Not sure what else is unique to be honest. I know it's wildly different than the SDCC Jyn Erso, but will there be a general release version of her in this specific set of accessories or is the base and maybe the deco be all that's exclusive like last year's K-Mart figures?
If it's all the gear though, this will be a much more popular figure I'd imagine.

SDCC and Rogue One Wave 1 are her Jedha outfit. This one is the Eadu outfit.
I imagine this one will be a lot like the last two Kmart figures so I expect to see a slightly cheaper base-less version in the regular 6" line.
-
Yeah I couldn't imagine this being THAT different. I was thinking though it may all be accessories and deco that's different too... Her pants, shirt, etc. may all be the same under there. There weren't many unique Rey outfits. Jyn seems to change clothes more. :P

1. Why would anyone give KMart an exclusive when they are on the verge of bankruptcy and are closing stores left and right?
2. Why would KMart even want an exclusive when they are on the verge of bankruptcy and haemorrhaging cash? (Spell check failed, sry)
That said, cool figure and I'm definitely getting one if I can find a KMart somewhere.
-
Looked like the E-11 blaster had a new paintjob too? I noticed some silver on it, but it could have been the camera flash reflecting off of the plastic window. Looked good if it's new.
-
I'd like to get a close look at that Eadu base. Aside from that? I'm getting a bit more concerned about K-Mart's ability to get exclusives. They've been closing stores at a brisk pace over the past couple of years, and that could seriously impact their ability to get these figures out to collectors.

I think Adam Pawlus had an interesting discussion on this in the past couple of years (I think when the Vintage boxed Ewok sets were out). If I'm remembering correctly he stated that K-Mart is one of the few places that employs old-school knowledgeable toy category managers that have been around for a long time and have maintained good relations with Hasbro.
I think the latest unique base / paint deco figures aren't terribly interesting in comparison to the Ewok sets they had a couple years ago. I feel for those that are trying to track these down as I think there might only be two K-Marts left in the entire state of MN. At least they tend to offer these online as well.
-
While Adam may have a feel for the toy management group within K-Mart, that likely doesn't extend to senior management of Sears/K-Mart. Because the financial ratings agency Moody's is projecting that the failure of Sears/K-Mart is imminent (http://www.businessinsider.com/moodys-report-sears-and-kmart-2016-9). And this Jyn Erso (Eadu) exclusive may be one of the last we see at the K-Mart chain.

What's Kmart?

What's Kmart?
Bankrupt

Again?

To paraphrase the best Sith Lord ever, "there will be no [Sears] to [save] us this time".

I checked out the video review. And it looks pretty clear that the base of this Jyn Erso interlocks with another base piece, just like the Starkiller base versions of Kylo Ren and Rey. I wonder what the companion piece is going to be in the case of the ROGUE ONE sets? Or for that matter, if K-Mart is still going to be in business at that point.
-
Looking forward to this one. The figure looks great. As for a companion piece, it's probably going to be some villain, so I'll say a Death Trooper, some trooper we haven't seen yet, or Vader, if he decides to go rock climbing.

Maybe it will be an IRS Tax Attorney...

Hey...good news, this is out! ;D
Had seen a few store reports on other sites since yesterday so I figured I would try my luck at lunch and sure enough I found 3 of them at our sole remaining K-Mart store, right next to the Kylo and Rey exclusives.
Sure beats all the back and worth trips I spent waiting on Kylo...and one less thing to worry about on FF. Look forward to opening this up after work.
Happy hunting!

I just picked up the Kmart exclusive Jyn Erso, too.
I wonder if Hasbro and Disney are giving Kmart a pass since the chain is in significant financial trouble?

I think people are making too big a deal about Sears/K-Mart's financial solvency and how this impacts exclusives. This is just a standard vendor relationship between Hasbro and Sears/K-Mart.
If Hasbro is worried about getting paid due to bankruptcy they just build that in to the invoice policies - e.g. 30 days net, some elements of pre-payment, or preferential treatment in a bankruptcy through bond notes.
And this is just one SKU out of a likely 1000 that Hasbro sells to Kmart. Why would they treat a Jyn figure differently than Play-Doh?
Keep in mind that TRU is no paragon of financial solvency. They've closed hundreds of stores, were swimming in losses and bought through a leveraged buy-out by Bain, are rumored to continue to lose massive amounts of money, and has their current bond status listed as junk.
Both K-Mart/Sears and TRU are a financial mess and may not exist in another five years, but I don't think that should stop Hasbro from selling exclusive or regular products to them.
I'm generally annoyed when I can't track down exclusives I want, and KMart ones can be tricky as their locations are limited, but so are TRU locations. Kmart has done a decent job of offering these online and getting enough stock to the market that there doesn't seem to be a significant premium to acquiring these in the secondary market.

Worth posting in here, I suppose - Kmart Closing 60 stores in mid-December (http://www.businessinsider.com/list-of-kmart-stores-closing-2016-9)
Here's another article that has 64 stores closing in December (http://time.com/money/4499339/kmart-store-closings/)

I continue to be surprised at the immunity of my local K-Mart. It's got to be one of the last in Iowa. I appreciate them enduring, as they've been reliable for the exclusives at least. Sad for the others and the employees. K-Mart was the place back in the 80's for toys. Tons of memories from there.
-
I don't think any CEO of a retail chain would micro-manage to that degree. But I do think that in light of the recent Moody's report on Kmart/Sears' solvency, there may have been a corporate directive to maximize sales by any means necessary in the hopes of saving the company. And whoever is running the toy group probably thought this could at least help their Q3 numbers.
Where does an exclusive toy offering fit in? Just like any other exclusive, it's designed to drive foot traffic into the stores. I know that I don't venture into Kmart without an exclusive to draw me in. Because the exclusive is not just about the single sale. It's about getting you to buy that PLUS other merchandise.
-
Finally found this today, and I got shut down at the register. I don't know what difference a week makes, but here we are. Guess I'll just buy it on clearance when that store finally closes next year.

Ordered - thanks for the tip!

Sold out while I was entering my credit card info at checkout, and wouldn't let me buy one. ::)
-
My KMart put these out. I don't think this will be impossible to get. Don't panic on it.

This is online now!

Got one AND used some really old Sears points for a discount AND got free shipping to my local Sears!

Both my Kms sold out of these fairly fast, no restocks yet, but they're just resetting the toy aisle too for I am assuming Xmas.
