This one is surprising that they haven't either created lots of carded random kit-bashed Mandalorians, or come out with a 4-pack.
There was so much promise when they were cranking out the Deathwatch and Mauldalorians a year and a half ago!
It seems like they're getting on a roll with the Mandalorian ranks from the Disney+ series now. TVC now has the Fleet Commander and the Judge. And the upcoming Imperial Light Cruiser playset is going to include a Mando Privateer. The Black Series has started to get some generic Nite Owls, too.
Hasbro wasn't exactly super current with the source material on those TVC Mandalorians from Clone Wars. Death Watch dates back to season 2, which came out in 2009. And the first figures of them came out around 2010 in the Clone Wars animated figure line. The Mauldalorians date back to Clone Wars season 5, which premiered in the fall of 2012. And then season 7 came out in 2020. The first we saw of them in The Vintage Collection was in 2022. We got those three really good figures then, which was a promising step forward. And they led to Pre Vizsla at the end of last year. I think releasing the Mandalorian Fleet Commander now, and the Judge this summer is a significant improvement on that figure development timeline - the characters debuted in 2023, and we're getting them in 2024. While both seem like they're repaints and retools, I think we've all become accustomed to some re-use by Hasbro.
I'd like to see Hasbro expand on the various Mandalorians. A cool troop builder 4-pack might be the Shriek Hawk Training Squad from TM season 3. And then there are the survivors that are discovered on the surface. Just as long as Hasbro gives them all a serious treatment, I can get on board with releases like that.
